Election Day 2025: Democrats Demolish Republicans in Major Races

Democrats snatched all the major races:

The Democrats also retain control of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Virginia

Virginia will elect a new governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general.

Spanberger projected to win.

The guy who fantasized about murdering children? Yeah, he just won the attorney general job. Only 45% of Virginia voters considered his texts disqualifying.

Former Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger or Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Spears will become Virginia’s first female governor. Earle-Spears could become the first black female governor in the country!

Then we have the attorney general race. Democrat Jay Jones leads Republican incumbent Jason Miyares, 49% to 47%.

Almost 1.5 million people voted early in Virginia.

New Jersey

As Elizabeth noted earlier, several polling stations faced bomb threats on Tuesday morning.

The governor’s race is probably the closest one out of all the races.

The last poll I saw had Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherill leading Republican Jack Ciattrelli 49% to 48%.

Despite the closeness, places already called it for Sherill.

New York City

Congratulations, New York City. You have a socialist.

However, over 1.4 million people voted in New York City by 3 PM EST. It’s the highest count in two decades.

Only 1.15 million people voted in the 2021 mayoral race.

California

I bet California passes Prop 50, which would push aside the nonpartisan redistricting commission for the rest of the decade.

The Democrat-led legislature would redraw the lines, making more blue districts.
