Former Counsel to House Democrats Says the Party is ‘Becoming Like a Cult’

Julian Epstein is not a conservative. In addition to being a Democratic strategist, he is the former Democrat Chief Counsel to the House Judiciary Committee. Yet during a recent appearance on FOX News, Epstein suggested that the Democratic party is ‘becoming like a cult.’
Epstein’s remarks were largely motivated by the DNC summer conference which opened with a ‘land acknowledgement’ and echoed other progressive ideas about immigration and crime.
Like many people, Epstein seems bewildered by the party’s inability or outright refusal to correct course in any way.

Discussing the DNC’s Summer Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Epstein said, “I think what I was watching yesterday looked more like a Star Trek convention. This is a party that has almost no self-awareness. The approval numbers, two-thirds of Americans disapprove of the party. Their fundraising numbers, the voter registration numbers are all dropping through the floor as the party associates itself with things like gender sterilization for minors, open borders, high crime.
The party is almost becoming like a cult that worships these weird progressive idols. As and then sort of the only thing they have to offer is these insults, like Tim Walsh body shaming the president, you know, Tim Walz going around body shaming to me is like the Taliban criticizing someone for religious intolerance.”
He added, “This is a party that just stands for negativity and for aligning itself on issues that are far to the left of the median voter and not, as Carolyn, I think, points out, putting forward any ideas that any of the voters, certainly in the middle, can relate to in any way.

It’s more about a choice in fiction for entertainment, analogous to women following the lives of Liz and Richard in the tabloids and taking it as part of their own lives.

It comes to this:
Their cult is a death wish where success in the battle is contrary to winning the war: The agenda of making blue cities and states unlivable for conservatives and non-insane non-woke people so they can rule forever is incompatible with winning on a national stage.
It will keep them forever in the ruling party in Wa, Or, and Ca, but the sum of those states has net negative migration. The net negative in the north is hidden by many fleeing Ca for the other two, while conservatives bail from all 3. On the whole, no one wants to live there. They are dystopian hell holes that wage war on their citizens and sanity itself.
Boys in the girls bathroom, endless crime has indeed driven Red voters from these states and they are winning on the state level. Illegal immigration is good because conservatives hate it AND it fuels crime which also drives conservatives out is also a winning strategy at the state and local levels. Washington has gotten so vindictive Jay Inslee was literally placing sex predators in short term housing next to playgrounds (see story from Tenino). Current Gov Satan von Ferguson is kicking that weaponization into turbo.
Hate is their dopamine and they can’t get enough of it. It only works in their little kingdoms which will become smaller and smaller and more of a hell scape as time passes. But Dems would rather rule in hell than serve all their constituents.
Julian Epstein has really wondered off the Democrat reservation. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard him be sharply critical of Democrats and this current iteration of ‘progressives.’ I’ve also heard him say positive things about Trump and broader GOP efforts to control crime. As Mike points out, Epstein was a long-time, well-connected Democrat power broker. It’s remarkable he’s doing what he’s doing now.
This week, Naomi Wolf (former campaign advisor to both Clinton and Gore) is offering a speech she gave last week to “the Donald J. Trump Republican Club in deepest Brooklyn” supporting Mamdani’s Republican opponent. It’s a heartening read, including a capsule history of how and why her liberal “old friends” rode her off the reservation on a rail for telling the truth.

Nose and eyebrow rings. Facial studs. Gauges. Huge tattoos. They all say to me, “I was deficient as a person until I added this improvement.” Other than in scale, it’s no different from the neurosis that encourages transitioning.
I don’t feel the same about unnaturally colored hair. I reject it solely because it is invariably entangled with political implications — like rainbow-colored objects. If not for that, I would just enjoy them for the color and variety.
And earrings pass because of long-standing tradition. One on each side.
At least tongue studs appear to have fallen in popularity. I suppose girls had to learn first hand the downside of nonverbally introducing themselves to everyone they met with, “Hi! I’m a slut!”
Purity testing is not cheap. In the old days one had to actively lynch a black man to be considered a white supremacist. Now you just need to share a slightly unpopular viewpoint or vote for orange or man or, dare I say it, not wear a mask at all times.
The interesting thing is that their utopia seems to be the same as a normal person’s dystopia.
All utopias are dystopias read any fiction you want. To get a utopia everyone has to agree. Not just 80% or 90%. The only way to get 100% agreement in this world is through coercion and the threat of violence backed up by actual violence when threats are ignored.
Becoming a cult?
Like I pointed out in a previous thread, stroll on over to DebatePolitics and spend a little time there. You’ll quickly see that they’re already there..
The sad thing is no matter how far left the dramacrats go, and they are so far left already, there is still 40% of the country which will vote for them just because of the D. It’s beyond sad. It’s tragic and depressing and yet another example of why democracy is a terrible idea.
Hasn’t been in the middle for 35 years. Even with Bill Clinton it was often a calculated lie.
The Communists are gambling – perhaps correctly – that they will gain enough seats in Congress next year to gain control and go back to waging their jihad against the Deplorables. They will never give up their demonic urge to genocide “bigots”. Act accordingly.
