Karen Bass Pushed Alleged Hoax That ICE Tried to Kidnap Illegal Alien Mom
Federal prosectors accused the woman of orchestrating the kidnapping “to generate public sympathy and solicit donations.”
It has emerged that Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass pushed a narrative now considered a hoax of ICE trying to kidnap an illegal alien mother.
On Thursday, the DOJ announced charges against Yuriana Julia Pelaez Calderon, 41, for conspiracy and making false statements for allegedly faking her kidnapping.
On June 30, Calderon’s family held a press conference, pleading for help to release her after federal agents took and held her in a warehouse until she agreed to self-deport.
Calderon’s daughter claimed “masked men” snatched her mother “in an unmarked vehicle…when she was on her way to work.”
The family even begged for donations, raising $4,500.
The claims prompted Homeland Security to launch an investigation, diverting resources to locate Calderon.
Of course, the left used the story for their anti-ICE narrative, including Bass.
Bass has remained silent.
Well, the evidence points to fabrication:
On July 3, when Calderon was still purportedly missing, federal agents grew concerned after confirming that Calderon was not in immigration custody. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) began searching for Calderon over the holiday weekend.
On July 5, HSI agents tracked Calderon down in a shopping plaza parking lot in Bakersfield. Calderon continued to falsely claim she was taken by masked men and held in custody with others.
Video surveillance – including video of Calderon leaving the Jack in the Box parking lot and getting into a nearby sedan – as well as telephone records demonstrate Calderon fabricated the entire story. Calderon and her family knew that law enforcement was searching for her and feared for her safety, but Calderon and her family did not come forward. Instead, Calderon created what law enforcement believe to be fabricated photos of her “rescue,” made to look as if she was abused while in ICE custody and planned to hold a press conference on July 6 to increase donations to the GoFundMe page and to obtain other benefits.
Man, Calderon put a ton of effort into this hoax!
“Dangerous rhetoric that ICE agents are ‘kidnapping’ illegal immigrants is being recklessly peddled by politicians and echoed in the media to inflame the public and discredit our courageous federal agents,” said United States Attorney Bill Essayli. “The conduct alleged in today’s complaint shows this hoax ‘kidnapping’ was a well-orchestrated conspiracy. The defendant and all those involved will face the full consequences of their conduct under federal law. I thank our partners at Homeland Security Investigations and all federal agents facing unprecedented levels of assaults for once again providing cool heads and professionalism during these difficult times.”

of course that basshole did
thanks for publishing this story
now with their being an explosion that killed 3 deputies there
look for lefty to hope that maga makes a mistake in reporting or talking about it
lefty is at war they take no prisoners
At least three Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies were killed in an explosion at a training center on Friday morning.
Officials have not said what caused the explosion, which occurred at the LASD’s Biscailuz Center Training Academy at around 7:30am local time.
Sources told KTLA that all three deceased individuals were deputies. Their identities are not yet known, and it is not clear if there are any other injuries.
Aerial footage from the outlet showed an LASD vehicle with a shattered rear windshield, and a backpack could be seen on the ground nearby.
The blast occurred at a site that hosts the department’s special enforcement bureau and the arson explosive detail, which includes bomb squads. Sources told the LA Times that a bomb squad was moving
It sounds like a terrible accident.
I’d give it twenty four hours before jumping to conclusions
agree
They have already said it was caused by mishandling explosives at a training facility while transferring them either into or out of a SUV. What type of explosives was not reported but we can rule out ammunition as it doesn’t explode.
“This doesn’t make anyone safer”. What doesn’t make anyone safer, Bass, is overheated rhetoric pushing false narratives but you know what really doesn’t make anyone safer? Letting your state burn to the ground while your over in Africa then delaying the rebuilding process so long and tacking on so many permit fees that people give up rebuilding so you can seize their land and build Section 8 housing.
During the Biden years, thugs provided a “service” to illegals — for a fee, they would rough the illegals up, allowing them to file a police report and obtain a privileged status against deportation. This is just more of the same.
If someone prints money that’s a crime– counterfeiting. But when the Treasury Department prints money, that’s legal even if the government prints recklessly (which it does). If someone takes a person off the street and holds him somewhere, that’s kidnapping, but when ICE does it, that’s a legitimate function of government. The state has powers which are denied to ordinary citizens. So even if this hoax were true, so what? ICE has the power to take illegal aliens into custody, and they don’t need a warrant, unless a criminal act is involved. Evidently Calderon qualifies as an illegal alien, so ICE was not engaged in “kidnapping” and we should not use that term. Of course now Calderon will get charged with a crime in addition to being an illegal alien. Evidently Calderon is a mother, again so what? Our prisons, both state and federal are full of mothers. Ever visit a woman’s prison and see little kids visiting their mother? It’s heartbreaking. I don’t know if this still goes on, but pregnant women were forced to give birth in shackles. Now all of a sudden illegal aliens, even those who have committed crimes in addition to illegal entry are objects of pity, and ICE agents get referred to a “kidnappers.” Funny how people who did little more than enter the Capitol on Jan. 6 were held in solitary, sometimes without charge. Our same MSM did not find that outrageous.
“If someone takes a person off the street and holds him somewhere, that’s kidnapping, but when ICE does it, that’s a legitimate function of government. The state has powers which are denied to ordinary citizens.”
Although it’s true that the state exercises power greater than that of the individual citizen, they derive those powers from the citizens by the citizens’ consent (collectively, through representation). However you chose a poor example to illustrate your point, as citizens have the authority to make arrests).
Taxation is often called “theft.” But if you can convince your neighbors to pay fees and taxes to you, government couldn’t stop you, mainly because it is powerless to prevent people from voluntarily surrendering their rights. But you can’t take fees and taxes from them without their consent. Nominally, the people have given consent to be taxed by government, and we have mechanism by which we are theoretically capable of controlling, reducing, or even eliminating any such tax. This principle applies to most, if not all, acts of government that might be considered illegal if committed by a private citizen. But there’s method to the madness, a method that we’ve allegedly all signed on to.
That pic totally faked me out. I took her for a Biden-appointed federal judge.
Max charges for all involved in this fabrication. Ruthless enforcement will eventually deter others fraudsters but gotta go hard enough and long enough to overcome the current status quo that illegal aliens, their allies, supporters and surrogates can do whatever they want with impunity.
In a just society someone like Bass would never be handed the reins of power. If for some unlikely reason she had been she would have been tarred and feathered and run out of trial long before now, That she hasn’t been speaks volumes of the stupidity of LA voters and the democratic system.
They went through an awful lot of trouble for a measly $4,500.00. Considering the number of conspirators, that works out to less money for each than that for which they might have worked honestly.
Reminds me of the effort Beetle Bailey would put into his attempts to avoid work.
I guess illegals aren’t as valuable as the MSM and Dems keep telling them. Was she “snatched” on her way to the local pot farm?
That is inherent in almost all criminal activity. The effort expended soon exceeds the reward, especially when you factor in the unproductive time consumed by court appearances and punitive custody.
