Newsom Slashes Funds to Planned Parenthood in His Budget

Newsom Slashes Funds to Planned Parenthood in His Budget

The abortion mill is ticked off.

Oh, look. Another move from California Gov. Gavin Newsom to make him appear moderate for his obvious 2028 presidential run.

This ties into Leslie’s post from last night: Gavin Newsom Retreats from Free Health Insurance for Illegal Aliens.

Newsom’s budget includes slashing $500 million “to health care provider payments funded by Proposition 56, a move that Planned Parenthood says would significantly hinder its ability to offer essential health services across the state.”

From KTVU:

The governor said his proposal is adjusting for a projected $12 billion shortfall caused by what he calls a “Trump slump.”

The revised budget eliminates half a billion dollars towards Proposition 56, which pays for dental, family planning, and women’s health providers to make room for funding the voter-mandated Prop 35, which expands Medi-Cal.

“Because of Prop 35 and the fact that it is burdened over the next 2 fiscal years by $4.6 billion, it’s increased the budget deficit, we are trying to figure out ways of offsetting that,” said Newsom.

Prop 35 forced Newsom to put funds the state received from “a tax on some health insurance plans” to go directly for Medi-Cal providers instead of into a general fund.

Newsom never came out with a bunt statement about his disdain for Prop 35. He didn’t conceal his unhappiness because “it tied his hands budgetarily, overly prescribing the funds and not giving him enough flexibility to spend.”

I wonder how many Californians knew that Prop 35 would lead to so many financial problems. I bet Leslie knew because she’s brilliant.

“As a result of these cuts, Planned Parenthood’s ability to provide care would be severely impacted,” complained Jodi Hicks, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California CEO and President. “Low-income Californians who depend on Planned Parenthood and other safety-net providers will endure longer wait times, have fewer appointment options, need to travel farther distances to access care, and will face even more barriers to accessing reproductive health care.”

Oh, noooooo…you cannot murder unborn babies?

Hicks added: “To put it simply, these cuts are plain cruel.”

You know what’s cruel? Murdering unborn human beings.

Newsom promised to protect a woman’s access to the inhumane procedure: “I absolutely am committed to any adjustments that we can make in partnership with the legislature to address those anxieties in the spirit of our support that has historically been placed.”

Providing free healthcare to illegals, in state tuition for illegals, poor forest management causing wildfires, dumping billions in the Train To Nowhere is coming back to bight Newsome since Trump isn’t interested in bailing them out like Brandon and Kamala would. If your financially undisciplined the markets will force discipline on you.

Killing unborn babies for convenience is NOT an “…essential health service…”

CA is required by law to balance its budget every year. The state can’t print its own money. The state can increase state taxes, which it often does, or cut spending. Then the dem super majority in CA always tries to shift blame to forces beyond their control (trump slump?). Rinse, repeat.

If newsom were to get elected president, he will flood CA with federal cash from taxpayers from the other 49 states, to pay for all the leftists most controversial dream projects like trans surgery for kids, high speed rail to nowhere, free medical care for illegal aliens, etc.

“The state can’t print its own money.” Technically, but not literally true. I remember the California government issuing a “script” to pay for supplies and services when the state had a serious revenue shortfall. Many suppliers had no choice other than accept a state “IOU.” Especially when the sole customer is the state. In effect California was printing money.

Newsom can can run, but the can’t hide his record of mal-governance. A Bear market in stocks means loss of capital gains tax revenue upon which California depends. As the market is way over-priced, California will eventually face the fiscal music. Moreover, Newsom comes across as a weak candidate because he fades in a debate when his standard talking points runs out as we saw with DeSantis. Of course as things stand now, the Democrats have no choice other than running him in 2028. They have no one else. But that’s a long time off, and anything can happen to boost or destroy him.

I have much more money than when I lived in California. Everything is cheaper, and I don’t have to pay that onerous CA state income tax.

His election slogan will eventually morph into “still better than Buttigieg”.

BWAAHAAHAA!!

Good one, Leslie, but even that’s debatable.

the other wallets will fund them

same way they are “getting rid of” dei

How long before some woman, or women plaintiffs, partner up w/ PP to shop for a favorable judge to issue a statewide injuction against Newsome, and his uNcOnStiTuTiOnAl ‘slashes funds’ for baby murder?

Thems the rules now, right?

Newscum is such a fraud. He’s always bragging that state of CA has largest economy, but he can’t fund services to keep the state going? Nobody else to blame, CA under one party rule dem super majority.

So the people of CA individually aren’t stepping up their voluntary donations to make.up the shortfall? Seems like a good indicator that the People of CA don’t support the program nearly as strongly as some would have us believe. Spending other people’s money is one thing but when gauging true support look at actions not words.

Not a moderate. Never will be even seen a moderate. However I hope he keeps this up because if he does his buddies on the far left will cancel him.

Uh, he’s already canceled because he’s term-limited and out as governor in 2027 and I highly doubt after that anyone will care about him. You know, just like what happened to Joe. And Kamala. Once out of power nobody but nobody cared about those two losers. Same will happen to Newsom. Once out of the limelight he’ll become a political nobody and that will be the end of him.

I find it amusing that Noisome still thinks he has a shot a presidential run when he has literally destroyed Commufornica.

PP is just going to have to mark up the stock at their parts warehouse.
