Texas Teen Athlete Stabbed in the Heart, Left to Die in His Twin Brother’s Arms

Texas Teen Athlete Stabbed in the Heart, Left to Die in His Twin Brother’s Arms

“after a fight over a seat at a track meet, his heartbroken family says”

A teen athlete from Texas named Austin Metcalf was killed this week when a rival stabbed him in the heart, reportedly for sitting in the wrong seat at a track event. What an absolute waste.

This poor kid had his whole life ahead of him.

The New York Post reports:

Texas high school football star Austin Metcalf stabbed in the heart, left to die in twin brother’s arms at track meet: dad

A Texas high school football star was stabbed in the heart and died in the arms of his twin brother after a fight over a seat at a track meet, his heartbroken family says.

Austin Metcalf was attending a track and field championship between other area schools at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, when the fatal attack happened on April 2.

Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School outside Dallas, was in his team’s tent when a fight broke out between the teen and 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, cops say.

Anthony, a 17-year-old senior at Centennial High School just five miles away, was allegedly told he was sitting in the wrong seat. He then allegedly drew a knife and pierced Metcalf through the heart, the dead teen’s father Jeff Metcalf told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

Hunter, who was born 2 minutes after Austin, rushed to aid his brother but couldn’t save him.

“I tried to whip around as fast as I could,” an emotional Hunter Metcalf told WFAA. “I looked at my brother and I’m not going to talk about the rest. I tried to help him.”

Austin’s mother and brother appeared on FOX News yesterday. It’s impossible to imagine their pain.

Austin posted the following message on Twitter/X just days ago.

According to NBC 5 in Dallas, the suspect in the case admitted his guilt to police:

Suspect in fatal stabbing during Frisco high school track meet: ‘I did it’

NBC 5 obtained new information on Wednesday’s fatal stabbing during a high school track meet in Frisco.

The attack claimed the life of Austin Metcalf, 17, of Frisco.

Jeff Metcalf, the victim’s father, told NBC 5 on Wednesday that his son was stabbed in the heart and died in his twin brother’s arms.

An arrest warrant details the moment officers arrived on scene and what witnesses say happened leading up to the deadly confrontation.

According to one of the responding officers, the suspect, Karmelo Anthony, 17, admitted to stabbing Austin Metcalf, 17, claiming self-defense.

When an officer referred to Anthony as the alleged suspect, Anthony reportedly responded, “I’m not alleged, I did it.”

More details will probably come out about this incident in the coming months but none of that is going to help the family of the victim. What a pointless and tragic loss.

msm already lying in favor of blk murderer

he is both rosa parks ( he,, the victim..told me I couldnt sit there)

and a victim as the msm shows the murderer with trophies etc

I read the actual victims witness reports where the murderer WHO BROUGHT A KNIFE ( showing premeditation) was from a different school and purposefully sat in the opposing schools seating section

lefty is on the offense against the real victim and society

My condolences to the victim’s family. What a horror.

NotSoFriendlyGrizzly in reply to destroycommunism. | April 4, 2025 at 1:34 pm

I don’t think bringing a knife shows premeditation. I have a knife on me everywhere I go. Sometimes even 2. I also carry my sidearm everywhere legally allowed. And I carry an OC device (Kimber Pepper Blaster) as well.

Yet I’m not looking to stab someone (the knifeknives are for self-defense and cutting cables, boxes, etc.), or shoot someone, or pepper spray them.

As for the rest, I agree completely.

The giant distinction between you and the alleged assailant is you’re not a prohibited possessor. Not sure exactly how the relevant statutes read in Texas. But, I imagine he’s likely committed at least a Class A Misdemeanor bringing that knife onto campus and maybe even a felony; it’s a felony in my home state. While I still don’t think that would reach the ‘premeditation’ threshold, it’s definitely going to be way easier to prove murder for the state than it would have been had it just been a fist-fight that ended…gravely. IOW, by bringing that knife someplace it shouldn’t have been, it makes a credibly argument for self-defense or even manslaughter more problematic.

NotSoFriendlyGrizzly in reply to TargaGTS. | April 4, 2025 at 2:24 pm

Texas’ knife laws are a little different than most states, I imagine. There is no such thing as a “prohibited person” for the purpose of carrying a knife and knives are restricted solely based on the blade length and the location.

Persons under 18 cannot carry a location-restricted knife (5.5″+) in schools. But minors (17 or under) can carry a NON-location restricted knife and are still perfectly legal.

And I agree that it should be very easy to convict this guy.

      1) you arent looking to start trouble but he was
knowingly sitting in the wrong area and the ORIGINAL reports ( before lefty spin) stated that the murderer was raising h in the situation etc

      2) notice no social media coverage of the murderers accounts..only fawning pics of him as an “equal” and of course as the “Victim”

Don’t the jailhouse lawyers inform their fellow thugs not to talk to the police?
In every state in America, you can’t respond to a non deadly force attack with a deadly force response
    (certain exceptions apply)
This kid claiming self defense to a non deadly force attack is in reality a confession to manslaughter/murder.

Note to all law abiding citizens.
After a self defense incident, point out exculpatory evidence to police at the scene, then firmly request a lawyer and assert your right to silence.

Few people know that you must state your right to silence or silence can and will be used against you.
There is nothing you can say at the scene or to detectives later that can help your case.
Comply with police, go to jail, and let your lawyer do the talking.

He knows this case will be handled like nitroglycerine for fear of riots and killings from The Community. He knows he will probably be released on his on recognizance before trial. He knows 60 Minutes and The View will fawn all over him.

It is time for a return to street justice?

Seriously, he looks damn familiar — like another alleged thug from sometime within the past month or so — but it’s probably just the haircut.

Dunno what it is about black kids and track meets this year…

Having run relay races a few times I always worried about passing the baton and never thought of using it to bash the competition, Very creative if illegal on multiple counts. However I can foresee it added to the Olympics as a new combat orientated event. Helmets of course will be required and probably shoulder blades, elbow and knee pads, and maybe rib protectors. Perhaps armor like that worn by the old roller derby players.

It’s Wakandan. It’s the male form of Kamala.

It’s entertainment. As you can see from the soap opera touches, and the villain. Learn to recognize an entertainment choice.

As George Carlin pointed out, in natural disasters, you root for larger death tolls. It’s a better story. He withdraw the bit when 9/11 happened just afterwards. You can’t win against the humorless in your base. Still true though.

First try as an adult.
Second death penalty.
Third no rioting allowed this time. Arrest and jail.

TargaGTS in reply to ztakddot. | April 4, 2025 at 2:14 pm

Probably can’t seek death. In a narrowly divided 2006 Supreme Court decision – Roper v. Simmons – the Court held that capital punishment in a case where the assailant was a minor-child violates the 8th Amendment even if the minor was tried as an ‘adult.’ While it’s possible the Court could reverse itself, I just don’t think the votes are there with ACB and Thomas on the bench…not even sure if Kavanaugh and Gorsuch would look at it again. Thomas, on the only justice still on the court from that opinion, was in dissent.

Seek the death penalty.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Blue Collar Todd. | April 4, 2025 at 12:05 pm

Seek the death penalty and he becomes the next Mumia. He may even get his own segment on NPR.

👍🏼 Never forget Officer Daniel Faulkner.

I had forgotten that Mumia worked at Philly NPR affiliate WHYY at the time of Officer Faulkner’s assassination.

Didn’t the mayor of Paris gift thug-murderer, Mumia, the key to the city? Despicable, the way that leftists and Dhimmi-crats venerate and lionize this POS.

Mumia was only the latest (at the time) in a long, long line of sundry and innumerable sociopath criminals, Muslim terrorists and other assorted reprobates who’ve been celebrated, whitewashed and deified by leftists and Dhimmi-crats in Europe and the U.S.

Tom Givens of Rangemaster wrote about the 4 “R”s and the propensity to lose your life to an act of violence if involved with one them.

Who brings a knife to a track meet on a “weapons free” school campus? Ain’t that against the law?

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Recargador1. | April 4, 2025 at 12:06 pm

Karmelo didn’t have to walk through the metal detector; making him do so would be raysiss.

    NotSoFriendlyGrizzly in reply to Recargador1. | April 4, 2025 at 1:45 pm

“Who brings a knife to a track meet on a “weapons free” school campus? Ain’t that against the law?”

I do. And no, it isn’t. Sort of.

As I said above, I carry 1, sometimes 2 knives with me everywhere I go. They are tools to be used when I’m cutting cable, opening boxes, cleaning my fingernails, and, should the need arise, for self-defense.

In Texas (other state’s laws may vary), as long as the blade is 5.5″ or less, it is perfectly legal to carry a knife on a K-12 public school campus.

FYI, it’s also perfectly legal in Texas to carry a gun on a school campus provided 1) you have a Texas License to Carry and 2) you have permission (verbal or written, though IMHO written is best) from the principal or school board to carry on school grounds. Due to the issues with my granddaughter (her parents are low-life, drug using, morons), her school gave me written permission to carry.

Wow. 5.5″? That’s long. Texas just hits different. Where I live, minor children are prohibited from carrying knives of any length at school and adults may only carry 2″ knives on school property, much to the dismay of many high-school shop teachers.

Minors may ‘own/possess’ a knife and have/carry at home. I believe Minors under 18 are prohibited from carrying one around. School Districts can also set their own policy and while there may be a quibble re preemption of State Law on carry of a knife the School can remove you for trespass. My daughter had a very small 1 inch blade knife and took it to high school and they went berserk. Was in her backpack from a weekend camping trip, teacher happened to.be walking past and saw it. Had to deal.with CPS and got familiar with knife laws v application of common sense.

NotSoFriendlyGrizzly in reply to CommoChief. | April 5, 2025 at 4:33 am

You are wrong. Legally. At least in Texas.

They may get dinged for having one one campus (as a student, depending o the rules), but a student from a different campus may have different rules to operate under,

NotSoFriendlyGrizzly in reply to CommoChief. | April 5, 2025 at 4:51 am

I would also point out that rules (as outlined by a legal agency like a schoolboard) are NOT, in any way, shape, or form similar to LAWS. Therefore, CommoChief is 100% incorrect (unless I am misunderstanding him).

And, yes, school districts, even individual schools, can ban certain people from their offices. But, it has to be publicized. And no, under state law, a simple “No Joe can carry here” is not acceptable as publication. ANd, again, this is not a LAW.

I don’t care what your daughter had on her, (BTW, if it was under 5,5″, in Texas, then her parents (you?) are to blame. And, assuming I’m still alive then, I’ll be more than happy to testify at her trial.

I carried my Swiss Army knife since about Fifth Grade. The only rule was that Juniors and Seniors had to leave hunting rifles in their cars. The 1970s were different.

I Can’t…

I’m sorry

There wouldn’t be a trial.. at least not for the person that murdered my son…

MR Anthony should be charged as an adult. He brought a weapon into an area where they are almost certainly prohibited, he instigated a confrontation by entering into/refusing to exit another Team’s area. He then stabbed someone in the heart killing them. Either the authorities charge/try/sentence him as an Adult or they invite more of the same by those undeterred with light punishment.

The vile perp is under age 18, which complicates his prosecution and raises the possibility that he could be released from juvie detention at age 21. I hope he is charged as an adult, but, sadly, life imprisonment and the death penalty will be off the table as potential sentences, thanks to SCOTUS’s “wisdom” in stating that it is allegedly unfair to impose such penalties upon juvenile murderers.

NotSoFriendlyGrizzly in reply to guyjones. | April 4, 2025 at 1:49 pm

In Texas, anyone under the age of 17 is considered a juvenile. As this… “person”… *is* 17, he should be tried as an adult automatically. Especially if he is at least within 90 days of turning 18 before the trial starts (not when the crime occurred).

    star1701gazer in reply to guyjones. | April 5, 2025 at 12:05 pm

In Texas if you commit a crime at 17, you are charged as an adult and go to adult jail. The court system considers you an adult at 17.

Was it a fight? I had the impression that the victim simply asked the murderer to move from the seat he was wrongly sitting in. Now it is being described as a fight? Am I to think the victim was pounding on the alleged killer over a seating assignment, and alleged was pounded so severely he had no choice but to defend himself to the death. Apparently, that’s what Anthony’s father is saying. Fog of war.

    alaskabob in reply to Titan28. | April 4, 2025 at 3:22 pm

From reports, he was told that the tent was for the team only. As things escalated he told everyone there that if he was touched very bad things would happen. Bro felt dissed and when the victim touched him, he pulled the knife and killed the victim. As noted above… he wasn’t getting the respect he “deserved” and demanded. Anthony’s father shows how the kid was “learned” to react. Anthony is about to be raised to the pantheon of Trayvon, George, Michael and Freddie.

ztakddot in reply to alaskabob. | April 4, 2025 at 11:46 pm

Ummm no. He’s very alive. The pantheon is all dead which is a necessity for a black martyr like the aforementioned. Otherwise they would ruin their martyrdom by opening their mouth and talking.

Imagine the outrage if the roles were reversed, I’d lay good money the misleadia would not be covering for the murderer if that were the case.

JohnSmith100 | April 4, 2025 at 1:46 pm

There should be an immediate trial, followed by execution the next morning. There is far more black on white crime than the other way around.

Karmelo needs some serious voltage applied. It might even fix his hair.

Where they normally are when black racism is involved (and this might not be such a case of it). They don’t believe and many have said that blacks can’t be racist because they don’t have any power.

where is obama…the guy who wants this son!!??

destroycommunism | April 4, 2025 at 2:59 pm

murderer ,,according to lefty,, asked,,is he ( the victim) going to be ok

so now they are pretending the murderer was actually concerned

come on texas

dont give in to the criminals!!!!

Ban the school of the perp from ALL sports for 5 years.

The fish rots at the head. You know damn well the school knew this kid was a dirt bag.

If they want to bring savages onto the playing field, they don’t belong on the playing field.

MoeHowardwasright | April 4, 2025 at 3:44 pm

The lsm will try and gin this murderer into this summers George Floyd. They need something to stir up more “mostly peaceful” protests. This kid threw his life away because of his hate for whites. Asking someone to move to his own area is not a racist thing. What this kid did by stabbing a fellow teenager to death is racist. Be on the lookout for Benjamin Crump to parachute in to this case.

Karmelo,

Enjoy those prison showers for the next ten to thirty years.

texansamurai | April 4, 2025 at 8:13 pm

the stabber is no ” victim “–he likely knew that the tent area was reserved for team members of a different school–he was out to make a point–to show-up some local sports/academic hero–to teach a bunch of white kids a lesson–that he intended to provoke the other kids seems pretty clear and whatever their reaction, seems to indicate premeditation on the stabber’s part–he planned on hurting somebody

Flip the script and reverse the races and leftists would be howling in outrage.

Why the deafening silence when white victim?
