Book: Stephanopoulos Described Biden as ‘Heartbreaking’ After Interview

In his new book Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History, Chris Whipple claims that ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos described former President Joe Biden as “heartbreaking up close” after an interview in July.
The interview happened one week after Biden debated then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Biden dropped out of the race on July 21. He immediately endorsed his VP Kamala Harris.

The book’s author, Chris Whipple, described Biden’s appearance as “hoarse and semi-coherent” during the interview, in which Stephanopoulos asked his questions “gently, like a grandson.”
“Afterward, when I asked the ABC anchor by email for his impressions, he replied: ‘Heartbreaking up close,’” Whipple wrote.

Whipple’s statement mirrors a story that spread after the Biden interview when a passerby asked Stephanopoulos if he believed the president should step down. The anchor appeared to respond, “I don’t think he can serve four more years.” The Washington Examiner’s Sarah Bedford contended that most people agree that Biden was not fit to serve another term and that such an assessment is “pretty apparent.”
Last week, the Washington Examiner’s Byron York assessed how Whipple’s book portrayed the former president as very exhausted ahead of the CNN debate, with Biden’s top aide Ron Klain “startled” by the president’s weariness. York noted how Klain continued to push for Biden to remain in the race against Trump despite Biden being “unaware of what was happening in his own campaign.”
TMZ published the video of Stephanopoulos telling a passerby he didn’t think Biden should serve four more years.
The anchor later told TMZ, “Earlier today, I responded to a question from a passerby. I shouldn’t have.”
The book Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House from Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes also spilled insider details about how much the Democrats knew about Biden’s cognitive issues and other fights. (I have this book but haven’t read it yet)
Allen said former President Barack Obama did not want Harris to replace Biden. He supposedly grew angry at his former vice president for endorsing her so quickly.
The authors also revealed that Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) “privately harbored concerns” about Biden after the debate.
Senior Democrats like Pelosi eventually pushed out Biden.

Biden was utterly unqualified on that day long ago that he was at his intellectual prime.
He was clearly incapable of serving as president in *2020* never mind in 2024. Only those suckling at the government teat and the trolls in the media believed he could pull it off because 1) he wasn’t Orange Man Bad and 2) he was a puppet for Obama’s third term.

I often ask myself if I had been forced to choose between voting for a non compos mentis Conservative candidate or HRC, whom would I have chosen? (Ok, I would never have voted for HER.)
Then I remember that the DNC actually tilted the scales for Biden, and even for HRC. In fact, DJT was the “People’s Choice” in 2016, definitely not the choice of the RNC.
In the months leading up to the 2020 election we on the right could see that in addition to Biden being of fairly average intelligence at baseline, he was showing clear signs of dementia. Those, whoever “they” are, who forced Biden on the the Democratic electorate, are the first ones who should be held accountable for the disastrous consequences of his presidency.
In my estimation the Democrats haven’t run a clean primary since at best 1992 and started jacking with the process in order to produce the ‘right’ outcome in 1980 after Carter surprised the PTB by winning. In 2008 they had to bow to reality since there was no way to cut off a “clean articulate” black candidate.
That Biden actually “won” the Democrat primaries in 2020 and 2024 shows what a complete and utter sham they are. Both the “insiders” who pushed him AND the Democrat primary voters themselves, can’t be trusted.
Trump should kick the MSM out of the WH press pool until they admit that they hid Biden’s decline and make a public apology but only after We the People toss rotting vegetables at them.
Actually I think Trump 2025 really should thank the Democrats for his re-election this time. The reality is what Trump has achieved in these few short months is considerably more, probably, than he could have achieved in a second term from 2021.
This Trump is sharp, focussed and unforgiving and this time he has the will of the people behind him, and there is no question about that.
I doubt Trump could have achieved as much as he has now in a second term from 2021. There were far to many RINO’s still in place back then that would have worked over time to slow his agenda down.
Sure there are still RINO’s in place now but their work to slow Trump down is getting a shite load more focus, thanks to Musk, so the people can see who they are. back in 2021, the shadows would have been their friends…now there is light being thrown in to those shadowy corners.

It was apparent during the presidential campaign that he was unfit for the job. We certainly don’t need someone writing a tell all book after the fact to know he was unfit. Denial is the strongest human emotion when pitted against rational thought. Thousands of battered wives *should* be able to see their abusers sent to jail, but they rally around them, even beaten bloody. Reporters and political people wanted beyond logic to believe that Joe was walking on water, healing the sick, administering with the wisdom of Solomon, etc… Every time they saw him wandering the grounds or licking the wallpaper, they made excuses. He’s not having a good day. The stress is overwhelming. Trump made him do that. The most powerful man in the US, finger on the nuclear button, and they could not be *wrong* for putting him in that position or supporting him. So denial rose to a level that if the President had done a strip-tease at a press conference and started yodeling, they would have excused it as a failure in the HVAC unit and a sudden interest in European musical culture.
