Bill Maher Finally Reveals Details of His White House Meeting With President Trump

“You can hate me for it, but I’m not a liar. Trump was gracious and measured”

During his HBO show last night, Bill Maher finally shared the details of his White House meeting and dinner with President Trump and while he makes it clear that he is not going MAGA, the event did affect his perception of the man.

Maher explains how surprised he was by the difference between the Trump he sees portrayed in the media, and the person he met at the White House. He says he found Trump gracious and able to laugh easily, even at himself.

FOX News has details:

Bill Maher reveals Trump was ‘gracious and measured’ at White House meeting, says he’s not the man seen on TV

“Real Time” host Bill Maher revealed details Friday of his meeting last week with President Donald Trump at the White House, saying Trump was more gracious and good-humored than he expected.

“You can hate me for it, but I’m not a liar. Trump was gracious and measured,” Maher said. “And why isn’t that in other settings- I don’t know, and I can’t answer, and it’s not my place to answer. I’m just telling you what I saw, and I wasn’t high.”…

Maher shared a printout of the insults Trump had leveled at him over the years, which Trump signed with “good humor.”

“And I know as I say that, millions of liberal sphincters just tightened. ‘Oh, my God, Bill, you gonna say something nice about him?’ What I’m gonna do is report exactly what happened,” Maher said, adding he “didn’t go MAGA. And to the president’s credit, there was no pressure to.”

The HBO host expressed his surprise about how Trump laughs, something he said he had never seen him do in public, telling his audience, “He does, including at himself.”…

“I never felt I had to walk on eggshells around him,” he told his audience. “And honestly, I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them the way I was able to talk with Donald Trump. That’s just how it went down. Make of it what you will. Me? I feel it’s emblematic of why the Democrats are so unpopular these days.”

The segment is 13 minutes long and I recommend watching the whole thing.

As I have said from the first reports of this meeting, it is going to anger some Bill Maher fans and some Trump supporters. I still think it is a good thing. Bill Maher is never going to be a conservative and will probably never support a Republican for president, but he has made small steps to a more reasonable position than he had in 2016.

Imagine if other people in media and entertainment could do the same.

The TDSers aren’t going to like this.

Many sane common-sensers have known this about Trump for a good while, and understand how and why he communicates as he does.

If only the TDSers understood that he is and has been quite measured when you think of the stuff and depraved hate thrown at him.

Trump is sane in private and sane in public, like Don Rickles. In public he puts on a show, is all. Maher still hasn’t figured that out.

You can’t beat Trump zingers.

Both sane. Otherwise, not really like Rickles, who was clearly acting. Trump means it. It’s not all show for him. No one hated Rickles or was trying to put Rickles in jail. And Trump often does it, not simply for laughs, but to make a point. It matters little to TDSers.

This is only a surprise to people who believe everything the MFM has conditioned them with over the years.

Everyone else still capable of thinking for themselves is completely unsurprised.

~50% of the voting age population in the U.S. already understood what comes as a revelation to Maher, which is part of the reason why #47 won re-election, easily.

It is very tell that Mahr said he wouldn’t feel comfortable

It is very telling that Maher said he wouldn’t feel comfortable talking with Obama and Clinton the way he talked with Trump. Those two narcistic gasbags are full of themselves.

Trump is the first president since JFK who has actual positive charisma.
Clinton had charisma, but malignant, in the vein of Manson or Jim Jones.
Obama had no charisma, only oleaginity.

Trump has positive charisma. LAFFRIOT. To whom? white christian nationalists?

In the real world , he ended up with ratings in the 30’s. There was an unprecedented rally a week ago where tens of millions came to protest how much they despise the cretin.

And his ratings now are almost all unfavorable.

Talk about being in a MAGA cult. Scheew boy.

I have a long time friend from the NYC area who hates him. His friends (not me, the others) hate him also as does one of his two sisters. Trying to talk with them results in threatening stares so it’s one of the topics we are cautious about since we don’t want to spoil our relationship over politics.

I asked my friend if he had ever read Trump’s book, The Art Of The Deal. He said no and he never would because he saw what Trump did as he did it. I asked him, “You know what you were told by others. Don’t you think it would tell you first hand something about his point of view?” Again, the angry stare. Touche, but I’d made my point.
.

Maybe you’ll agree with me, maybe not, but to the left DJT transformed into Emmanuel Goldstein on his ride down the escalator and it’s been a decade-long two minutes hate ever since. They have zero idea why they hate him, they just do and logic and reason to the contrary just makes them even angrier.

Orwell was so right, except for the date. Little bit off on that.

Trump is the consummate con man. Little surprised Bill Maher fell for it.
