Trump Delaying Tariffs on Mexico for Products Under USMCA
This Agreement is until April 2nd. I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum.”

President Donald Trump announced he will delay tariffs on Mexico for four weeks:
After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement. This Agreement is until April 2nd. I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum. Our relationship has been a very good one, and we are working hard, together, on the Border, both in terms of stopping Illegal Aliens from entering the United States and, likewise, stopping Fentanyl. Thank you to President Sheinbaum for your hard work and cooperation!
The USMCA covers all agricultural products, textiles and apparel goods, and automotive goods.
Trump said he would impose a 25% reciprocal tariff on April 2.
On Wednesday, Trump granted a one month tariff exemption on autos from Canada and Mexico.

When Trump announced his tariffs, my first thought was what this did to the NAFTA family of agreements. I can’t decide if today’s statement is “woops, I overlooked that agreement” or “the agreement allowed for me to impose tariffs, but I decided to be a nice guy.”
Considering the number of tariffs Canada has had against us for years and years, obviously the agreement allows for tariffing
Even allowing for currency exchange rates, Canada’s prices are sky high. Especially dairy and meat. Their tax on purchases total close to 15% on top of the high retail prices.
Of course he delays the tariffs. Nobody believes anything Trump says anymore. Remember when he promised that he would end the Ukraine/Russia war within 24 hours after being sworn in? Nobody in the entire whole world believed a word of it. “BUILD THE WALL!” Never happened. ‘LOCK HER UP!” Never happened. New boss same as the old boss.
So now Trump is pausing the tariffs on Canada. The consumer will be hurt, and companies will not expand or hire new workers with the threat of Trump’s tariffs. Senator Rand Paul was right. This is finally getting through to Trump’s thick head. Some firms will move their operations off-shore. We will all pay more for our consumer products. We won’t be fooled again.
Dear President Trump: We won’t get fooled again.

Those only didn’t happen because the Democrats, the RINOs, the bureaucracy, and the media made it their sole job to fight anything and everything Trump ever proposed. It wasn’t his fault. If they’d worked with him to make America great again instead of blocking it he could have done all that in a week.
So the USMCA has a lot of tariff rules on agriculture. That seems to be the biggest tariffs canada has that trump mentions. Canada is less than 1% of fentanyl. So if Canada is following the USMCA trump negotiated a minuscule fraction of the issue i just don’t see why.
Except because he can and he wants something.
Am i missing something here? As someone who left canada for the us a long time ago its just mind boggling.
The moron’s tariff ‘policy’ is like most is like almost all of his ‘policies’ . Not well thought out. His ‘policies’ can usually be summed up as follows. What will get the most hoots and hollers from the boogerpicks at a
Maga rally.
