Former New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu Dropping Hints at Senate Run
Politicians need to stop saying they won’t for this or that office when they leave a position because they almost always run.

New Hampshire Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen told the country she would not seek reelection in 2026.
In my post, I wrote that former Republican Gov. Chris Sununu said he would not run.
I also wrote: “However, we have heard other politicians say that and then run for a political office.”
Well, look at what we have here!
Sununu told Fox News radio host Guy Benson that he would win if he ran for Shaheen’s seat. From NH Journal:
When it comes to running for the U.S. Senate, Sununu told radio host Guy Benson, “I’ve always said my biggest fear is that I would win. I’m not too worried about that. Actually, I would win, by the way.”
When Benson followed up, Sununu doubled down.
“I know my voters. I’m connected to the voters,” Sununu said. “I’m not taking it for granted…you’d have to run hard. But I know how to run. I know how to win. I just I know my voters and they know me.
“And so if I really wanted to do this, I have no doubt we could be very, very successful. I know that sounds arrogant and all that kind of crap. I don’t care. I’m just saying these are the ABCs of me winning.”
Sununu chose not to run for a fifth term in 2024.
This is what he said: “They call it ‘public service,’ not ‘public career.’”
Politicians, when you leave office, just say, “Never say never” or “I’m going to leave the door open because you never know!”
Sununu told the media he was already “considering” running for Shaheen’s seat thanks to DOGE. More from NH Journal:
“Back (in 2022), I had Republicans in the U.S. Senate telling me that balancing budgets didn’t matter. America didn’t care, and it wasn’t important. And I basically said, ‘Screw you.’ I’m a budget hawk. I’m not going to become part of a group that doesn’t stand for efficiency and good government values and having the moral courage to make tough decisions,” Sununu said.
“Clearly, that has changed. We have DOGE going on — thank you, President Trump. He’s talking about balancing budgets. He’s driving that message. And there’s a need for leadership on something that I believe very, very strongly. There’s a different attitude now. They’re taking their job seriously.”
Sununu was one of the louder anti-Trump Republicans in 2024.
However, Sununu told Benson it was nothing but politics and he doubts President Donald Trump would punish him:
“I was at the White House three weeks ago,” he told Benson. “That relationship is not of concern. There’s a great understanding. I’ve been very supportive of what he’s been doing with DOGE.”
As for his criticisms of Trump last year, Sununu chalked it up to politics.
“Everyone ran tough in the primary. I mean, come on,” Sununu said. “And as soon as he won, we said, ‘Okay, look, this is where we’ve got to go. He’s he’s got the right message.’
“Everyone has seen me out in the media for the last year working hard for the Republican Party, working hard to get folks to vote the right way. That is the least of my concerns, to be honest.”

AOC is dancing!
Sununu is dropping hints!
Yet the media is saying the Democrats’ problem is that their message is not clear.
Come on! How can you get any more clear than dancing and dropping hints?
Um… Sununu is a Republican.
He just wants his ego stroked by people begging him to run…
The gravy train…
LOL.
He ‘knows how to run, and knows how to win’. Sure. The guy that was out there delusionally insisting Nikki Haley was going to win the primary right before she got absolutely slaughtered totally knows how to ‘run and win’.
Who needs another RINO?
Sununu is an establishment Republican, not a conservative, and kind of a d*ck. But he’s still worlds better than Jeanne Shaheed. Or Scott Brown. A conservative just can’t get elected right now in NH. Poor control over our southern border.
And by “our” you mean New Hampshire’s, not the USA’s.
#NeverTrump and self-described “Reagan Republican” Larry Hogan was the twice-elected GOP governor of deep blue Maryland. But when he ran for US Senate in 2024 he got smoked 55%-43% by a little-known Communist candidate.
I am aware that Maryland and New Hampshire are quite different. But the loud-and-proud #NeverTrump Sununu is overestimating his appeal. Early in the 2024 Maryland race Hogan made it clear he would oppose many Republican initiatives – a move that alienated Maryland Republicans and independents without attracting much of the Communist vote he obviously coveted. I can see Sununu making a similar failed gambit in a hypothetical US Senate race in New Hampshire.
you are looking at Susan Collins with short hair!
dana perino asked sunono if trump primaries him would he run and he laughed at that and said
why would trump do that to me we are on the same page
