Illegal Immigrant Suspect in Murder of Massachusetts Restaurant Owner Puts Gov. Healey in Hot Seat

Illegal Immigrant Suspect in Murder of Massachusetts Restaurant Owner Puts Gov. Healey in Hot Seat

“@MassGovernor’s billion dollar migrant mess just got someone killed.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kw59wfqLuR4

Mike wrote a couple of weeks ago about how Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) seemingly had a change of heart over the issue of illegal immigrants in the Bay State.

It was, of course, interestingly timed, coming just days after President Donald Trump took office and immediately made it clear that the roundups of illegal immigrants with violent criminal histories would resume under his administration without delay.

“I wouldn’t describe them as raids,” Healey proclaimed in response to arrests that took place in East Boston, per WCVB.

“What it seems to be, and what we expected and what I support, which is the apprehension of criminals in our communities,” she also said, while declaring later that her state was not a sanctuary state.

As Mike noted in his report, the comments were in sharp contrast to the Resistance™ statement she made the night of Trump’s re-election:

Nearly a week after Healey took the tough-on-crime tone on illegal immigrants, she announced she is running for reelection in 2026:

“When [Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll] and I started, we laid out in our inaugural address things that we wanted to do. We wanted to get after housing, and we wanted to get after transportation, we wanted to cut taxes, we wanted to make investments in education,” Healey said on GBH Radio on Friday. “And I feel like we’ve done all those things, and there’s a heck of a lot more to do. And so I plan to run for reelection, because there’s a lot more to do.”

For the Massachusetts residents whose top priorities are crime and getting the illegal immigrant situation – including the scandal-plagued migrant shelters – under control, her reelection bid is going to be a tough sell, according to the MassGOP:

“Under her leadership, the Commonwealth has become the least transparent state in the nation, with billions wasted on a migrant crisis that has spiraled into a full-blown humanitarian disaster-marked by sexual assaults, drug trafficking, child abuse, and violent crime,” MassGOP said in a statement.

Healey said last months that background checks she had ordered at Massachusetts [shelters] never happened. She’s also proposing changes to the heavily scrutinized right-to-shelter law in Massachusetts.

It’s going to be an even harder sell after the murder of 48-year-old Lynn, MA restaurant owner Ilias ‘Louie’ Mavros, as the suspect — 25-year-old Eric German-Pena—has been revealed to be an illegal immigrant who slipped in under the Biden-Harris administration back in 2022:

Crazy Buzzy’s Roast Beef and Seafood had only been open for four months at the time of Mavros’ murder. Lynn, MA is about a 25-30 minute drive from Boston. They are remaining open in his honor.

Understandably, fed-up residents are outraged:

Not surprisingly, Republican leaders in the Commonwealth are having to deal with the same “we must protect them” mentality from Democrats at the local and state levels that Republicans on Capitol Hill have had to for years:

‘Nuff said.

This is what happens when a lesbian cabal runs the state.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to E Howard Hunt. | February 8, 2025 at 3:05 pm

What does lesbianism have to do with it?

I don’t know about a cabal but I do know that the smirking lesbian doesn’t care about the citizens of Mass. Her far left agenda is much more important than such things.

She has seen to it that fellow salon members were appointed to judgeships and heads of key agencies. She even used such an appointment to buy the silence of a ex girlfriend so she could peacefully take up with another- also appointed to a lucrative government position. I hope the Grizzly has had his question answered.

The level of humankind we have allowed into our country thanks to Biden, is just above wild animals. They should be put in planes and DROPPED out over their native country sans parachute.

    _”dropped w/o parachutes”_

Voters are abandoning the Dems in droves b/c of the immigration issue and the Dems’ defense of USAID. (E.g., see 1:10 in the following recent video: https://x.com/IsaiahLCarter/status/1887290743032561803 .)

Now that those voters have finally realized how outrageously the Dems have shafted them, some of those voters will be coming to LI, to give conservatives a listen.

Do you want those voters to see LI regulars recommending dropping deported criminals out of airplanes w/o parachutes?

Do you want those voters to see LI regulars recommending dropping deported criminals out of airplanes w/o parachutes?

      LOL.

Take a chill pill. If that were polled in the same flip way it is used in comments then it would easily score a 75% favorable rating, as opposed to your laughable disingenuous (and dated) “concerned conservative” shtick. You aren’t fooling anyone, moonmouth.

I’ve seen this same phenomenon elsewhere: Adherents of a certain persuasion become so invested in their mantra that “Our opponents are incapable of ever listening to us!!!” that those adherents would rather squander an unexpected, hard-won opportunity to reach their erstwhile opponents, than ever that admit that that mantra was inaccurate.

I used to be interested in “converting” lefties.
          No more. It’s a fool’s errand.
People aren’t lefties “because they’ve been lied to.”
People are lefties because they WANT to be lied to.

Make a list of notable lefties who HAVE been converted, and they all have one thing in common.
It’s not that they were captivated by the brilliance of a really persuasive rightie.
It’s because their old leftie pals screwed them over and tried to ruin their lives.
RFKJ. Tulsi. Naomi Wolf. Nighthorse. John Connally (hell, they nearly killed him).
Even Reagan and Trump 2.0, who makes Trump 1.0 pale in comparison.
Sure, there are a few exceptions. Musk “saw the elephant” before it stepped on him personally. But Musk is an intellectual outlier.
And there are people who switch because they are simple opportunists. Bloomberg. Barr. Liz Dole.

          H. L. Richardson was right when he wrote that the only thing leftie politicians (actually all politicians) understand is pain. And that’s true of people in general.

Why did America suddenly flip to Trump? They could no longer stand the inflation, the rioting, the government-promoted racism, being unemployed, the squalor and crime committed by illegal immigrants, the 24/7 in-our-face screaming of the government-protected sexual and racial psychotics.
It wasn’t because somebody handed them a Pocked Sized Constitution, or because they read the comments column over at Legal Insurrection.

ztakddot in reply to moonmoth. | February 9, 2025 at 12:21 pm

Re converting lefties: Many are left wing when young. They become more conservative as they age and have something to protect. Worth attempting to convert someone if they are younger than 35. After that conversion is primarily a response to a mugging.

Out of curiosity, how many voters do you think will have their minds changed by a random comment by a random commentor on a fairly niche website? Especially given the level of vitriol from the other side, including elected officials threatened to have Americans bombed/nuked simply for voting for Republicans?

        “a fairly niche website”

Professor Jacobson does not concur (https://legalinsurrection.com/about/):

“Legal Insurrection now is one of the most widely cited and influential conservative websites, with hundreds of thousands of unique visitors per month.”

So, how many voters? You failed to answer the question. And vs the death threats from elected Democrats as opposed to a random user name on the Internet?
I mean for all I know, it’s you posting things just to reply to them.

Yeah. The writers, not the commenters.

“how many voters do you think will have their minds changed”

How many potential new Trump supporters are LI regulars willing to risk driving away just so you can have the “fun” of posting about dropping people out of airplanes without parachutes?

          irishgladiator63 in reply to moonmoth. | February 8, 2025 at 6:55 pm

The answer is zero voters will have their minds changed by a random comment on the Internet. Not one.
Also what about the death threats from Democrat officials?

To schmuul: You replied, “Also, last time I checked there’s a 2 term limit.”

Last time I checked, we hoped that J D Vance will be elected after Trump. There are also the mid-term elections in 2026.

The stakes being so high, why would LI regulars want to risk driving away new Trump supporters just so you can have the “fun” of posting about dropping people out of airplanes without parachutes?

Ironclaw in reply to moonmoth. | February 8, 2025 at 1:35 pm

Yeah, I think it should be publicized and maybe it would be a disincentive if they actually thought we would drop them out of a plane without a parachute. I don’t care why they choose not to come as long as they choose not to come

We don’t represent all voters by any means nor influence elections in the comments section. Honestly if you can’t handle reading comments that are offensive, humorous or against your #virtuous beliefs , then don’t read or write on here. No one here is to be held up as an example of a perfect human nor voter , including you. We are free thinking humans , you can join us or leave. The choice is up to you but stop your dumb trolling of others ; no one cares what image voters have of Trump voters . Certainly no one on this blog does . Vote with conscience not with the crowd. This isn’t a popularity contest.

I can quote Prof Jacobson as well; he works very hard on this blog but it’s reach and audience is very small compared to many other outlets. I have known him for years, as a fellow Rhode Islander and have been reading this blog since the Obama era. He has never policed the comments sections because he believes people can withstand hearing diverse viewpoints. If you think legal Insurrection comments section is so all important as to shift public opinions and sway elections than you have very inflated ego and need to get a hobby. If you think scolding all of us to have better behavior is “influence” then psy ops isn’t your specialty. Trolling behavior has long been associated with psychopathology and malicious intent; maybe you don’t need a legal blog but a medical one?

That’s what leftists have been saying about Trump’s love of trolling.

But since you were referring to my own post, could you share your Rhodes Scholar opinion as to which behavior is “psychopathic and malicious”: advocating dropping people out of airplanes, or objecting to that idea?

moonmoth in reply to moonmoth. | February 8, 2025 at 11:03 pm

Awesome! I wish I was a Rhodes scholar but alas I am just a lowly peon. I am a Rhode Islander and that definitely gives me revolutionary war credentials. As far as trolling being related to psychopathology, do some reading on the topic and you be the judge. Again, it’s about free speech and free thinking. Get it? You don’t have to agree with me. But scolding and shaming others for irreverent or perceived offensive comments, which is trolling behavior, doesn’t work here. Maybe it does on other websites, I don’t know and I don’t care. If you like, troll away, but you just won’t get the behavior change or the reaction you seem to be seeking.

CommoChief in reply to moonmoth. | February 8, 2025 at 2:10 pm

Your preening is getting old. If you don’t want to have a period where ‘reactionary’ policies rule the day then don’t create the conditions nor allow those conditions to run for decades which then provoke the reaction.

IOW to avoid Pinochet all you need to do is refuse to allow political power to Marxists like Allende. Overly simplistic political philosophy but still accurate despite its condensed formulation.

moonmoth in reply to CommoChief. | February 8, 2025 at 5:02 pm

CommoChief in reply to moonmoth. | February 8, 2025 at 7:01 pm

I am saying that if a segment of a society doesn’t want to experience the reactionary actions which you may find excessive or at least distasteful then they should avoid any excesses when they are in power and admit that Trump isn’t the ‘boogeyman’ they claim.

Simple really, if you don’t want a Pinochet to come into power then don’t create the conditions for him to gain the popular support that compels a Pinochet by choosing a Marxist Allende. to precede him or by thwarting a political moderate like Trump.

The pendulum swings. What is happening now is the pendulum being returned to the political center of roughly the early ’90s USA. Those who oppose this are really NOT gonna like what comes if Trump/MAGA/MAHA is thwarted. Very plainly Trump is the ‘good’ cop in this scenario and the ‘bad’ cop is gonna be far more vigorous when he/she enter into power. We should avoid that if possible.

The parachute should be an extra charge option.

1) Unpopular opinion: Healy is a diversity hire that checks progressive boxes instead of being competent.

2) Healy isn’t anywhere near as bright as she or her supporters think she is. If you’ve ever heard her opine on something that you have even fleeting knowledge of you’d know this.

3) Massachusetts isn’t as blue as you might think or be led to believe – witness the propensity to elect nominal republican governors – and if Maura continues to flounder, Massachusetts will lurch right.

ztakddot in reply to Peter Moss. | February 8, 2025 at 2:39 pm

Massachusetts won’t lurch to the right. Both senators are radical regressive nutjobs as are all their representatives. One of them may be a bit more to the right then the others but they reliably vote party over country. Both the state house and senate are democratically controlled as are all the state-wide offices. Occasionally a democratic governor is elected but they are usually a republican moderate as is typical in the Northeast, and basically equivalent to a standard democrat of the 1970s.

henrybowman in reply to Peter Moss. | February 8, 2025 at 4:27 pm

Unfortunately, Massachusetts is a state where “Republican” means people like Romney, Weld, Cellucci. All people comfortably to the left of FDR. Massachusetts enacted Romneycare long before Obama got his. The last credible “Republican” governor the state had was Ed King (1979-83) — and he was a Democrat who didn’t switch to being Republican until two years after his term.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | February 8, 2025 at 1:10 pm

Isn’t Massachusetts the state that let Barky’s illegal alien aunt – Auntie Zetuni – who was denied asylum and ordered deported by refused to leave the US and actually got into public housing in Boston for YEARS. Then, when she was found out, while Barky was occupooping the Oval Office, Barky had her illegal presence “fixed” and her deportation order (of years and years and years) was rescinded.

Good Ol’ Boston and Massachusetts … giving aid and comfort to an illegal invasion for a long, long time. It’s well past time to start putting some of these dangerous traitors in prison.

henrybowman in reply to MajorWood. | February 8, 2025 at 4:40 pm

    No, it’s Liz Warren’s spirit g-g-g-grandfather.

The state motto on the flag is “Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem,” which translates to “By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty.” It’s an embarrassing motto for a state that viciously suppresses both its citizens’ arms and their liberties.

A number of us formally proposed that the state motto be changed to “Respublica Quam Melior Omne Scit” — “The state that knows better than everybody else.”

This was at the same time that Massachusetts was on a typical “new Democrat firsts” roll for creating new official state symbols which were subcategories of symbols it already had — like a “state mammal,” “state marine mammal,” “state folksong,” “state patriotic song,” “state glee club song,” etc. We noted to the legislature that unlike a number of other states, Massachusetts still lacked an official “state dinosaur,” and recommended naming Teddy Kennedy.
