Sen. John Fetterman Cosponsoring Laken Riley Act

Sen. John Fetterman Cosponsoring Laken Riley Act

Fetterman has been vocal about strong border security since he joined the chamber.

I continue to be blown away by Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA).

Punchbowl News reported that Fetterman cosponsored the Laken Riley Act bill with 50 Senate Republicans.

Yes, Fetterman is the only Democrat attached to the bill. He told Politico:

Laken Riley’s story is a tragic reminder of what’s at stake when our systems fail to protect people. No family should have to endure the pain of losing a loved one to preventable violence. Immigration is what makes our country great. I support giving authorities the tools to prevent tragedies like this one while we work on comprehensive solutions to our broken system.

The Republican-led House will vote for the bill on Tuesday. It passed in March 2023 with 37 House Democrats voting for it.

The Republicans introduced the Laken Riley Act, named after the Augusta University nursing student who illegal alien Jose Ibarra murdered in February 2023.

With the Senate majority in their hands, Republicans want to vote on the Laken Riley Act, which then-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer blocked in 2024 after the House passed it.

However, as Politico pointed out, even though 52 Republicans support the bill, West Virginia Sen-elect Jim Justice won’t join the chamber until next week.

But the Republicans need eight Democrats or independents to cross the aisle “to break a likely filibuster and ultimately pass the bill.”

Fetterman cosponsoring the bill should not shock anyone. Yes, Fetterman is a Democrat, but when he disagrees with his party, he doesn’t stay quiet and toe the party line instead.

In December 2023, Fetterman lectured Democrats on border security. Politico reported at the time:

“I hope Democrats can understand that it isn’t xenophobic to be concerned about the border,” Fetterman said in an interview. “It’s a reasonable conversation, and Democrats should engage.”

Fetterman, a progressive favorite, urged Democrats to acknowledge the large numbers of migrants streaming across the southern border. He cited the nearly 270,000 border encounters that U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported in September.

“Honestly, it’s astonishing. And this isn’t a Fox News kind of statistic. This is the government’s,” he said. “You essentially have Pittsburgh showing up there at the border.”

At the rate Big John is going, he’ll lose his Democrat Card and be sent for re-education.

I am a conservative Republican but sometimes I like this guy.

A pretty white girl, naturally. Nobody is suspicious about being manipulated.

What’s needed is a Mary Jo Kopechne Act to protect pretty young white girls from members of congress, especially from vulgar pandering.

2024 homicide in northern Houston, Texas
On June 16, 2024, Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old girl, was killed in North Houston, Texas. The case attracted national attention, as two illegal immigrants from Venezuela were charged with her murder. Authorities found her body the next morning in a creek in North Houston, and determined she had been raped and murdered by strangulation. She was hispanic.

Of course the death of this young woman and the circumstances around her death are being used to highlight and close the current mal administration re illegal alien crimes, detention and deportation. In sum to close off some of the ways in which criminal illegal aliens who should have been detained by local government and transferred to ICE for removal were not leading to tragic consequences for MS Riley among others. If you choose to label it as ‘manipulation’ go right ahead.

Senator Fetterman is quickly becoming my favorite Democrat.

His actions have almost made me not be annoyed by his non-traditional Senatorial sartorial choices.

I wonder just how far out of touch Democrats have to get before Fetterman declares himself and Independent who caucuses with the Dems and not a fake Independent like Sanders but a real one.
