RNC Threatens Lawsuit Against 4 Georgia Counties for Extending Absentee Voting

The lawsuit includes Fulton County.

The Republican National Committee’s election integrity wing threatened to sue four counties in Georgia for accepting absentee ballots without GOP poll watchers.

The four counties are Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett.

Yes, Fulton County, which is trying to put former Donald Trump in prison.

These counties kept the election offices open this weekend so voters could turn in their absentee ballots in person.

Chairman Michael Whatley wrote on X:

Democrat officials in Georgia are playing fast and loose with election law.

Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb, and Gwinnett counties decided at the last minute to accept ballots over the weekend — which disregards the law. They have also failed to let our poll observers in to watch the process. The Secretary of State has issued guidance to allow Republican poll watchers in but local officials REFUSE.

Our election integrity operation has filed a lawsuit.

Georgia voters demand that the state and courts ensure that these reckless counties administer fair, transparent, and secure elections. Anything less undermines public trust.

And like in 2020 if Harris wins there will be a giant rush to certify the vote and a drumbeat of “the fairest election in history” accompanied by “Republicans are denying election results. We can investigate anything”

Not only are they trying to extend the window, but – far more ominously – they aren’t allowing election monitors into the facilities that are ‘receiving’ these ballots. It’s the 4:00am ‘water leak’ all over again, only this time it’s a water leak that will last all weekend.

Not giving clear advance notice and then refusing GoP monitoring are unconscionable.

In fairness though what they are doing in opening up and accepting ballots is a bit ambiguous. I believe the issue is two conflicting points in GA election procedure.
    1. Ballots can be returned in person by hand until 7 PM on election day
    2. Drop Box method of returning ballots ended on Friday with close of the ‘early voting’ period

So what these counties seem to have done is an end run from normal practice by opening up their County offices on Saturday to allow delivery by hand to County personnel v into a drop box. Sneaky and probably gonna get away with it. Chalk it up to lesson learned and work to tighten up election laws/procedures to update and remove all the cracks. If that means the statute is full of ‘the County shall not’ and the ‘County Shall only’ language down to when they can have a sip of coffee… so be it.

“Chalk it up to lesson learned”
Republican election lawyers are like American generals — always working on perfecting their strategies to fight the previous war.

The thing is though this possibility exists b/c it was overlooked as a gambit since the last Presidential election and the ’22 midterms.

What needs to occur is getting the election operatives and election attorneys in a room with the each State’s election statutes, procedures and case law. Use them as ‘Red Team’ to comb through and find sneaky ass stunts to pull and then make recommendations to the Legislature to shore up the election laws. Until there’s an intensively focused and deliberate process to find and ID any obvious, arcane or even far out/sneaky gambit the d/prog may attempt then close off those possibilities with clear, unambiguous, air tight statutory language then we leave ourselves open.

I hate to be a downer but having lived 39 of my 53 years in 3 of those counties and growing up w/ the current AG, I think it’s too late. On top of the unsupervised ballots, there’s the machines. A solidly red state has gone purple. Having taken over the vote, it’s 2 years from being blue. I don’t think we have 2 years, anyway, though. I’m definitely skeptical.

My God is greater. That’s my mantra.

More like the Washington Generals. Their whole job is to get clowned.

Golly gee whiz, what a tragedy that the leadership in Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties decided on this path. Assuming they mixed these illegally accepted ballots into the rest the only acceptable option is to throw out the results of these four Counties in their entirety. I predict if that actually occurs (it won’t) this result would go a very long way to ending such shenanigans.

UPDATE: They are now allowing Republican poll watchers in these counties.

The Gov, Ag, and SoS should have State Police at all these county locations and arresting people for breaking GA State Law and further stopping further counting until the Law allows it. If the law is not followed and people do not get arrested for breaking it then there will be no changes from 2020.

State Police should search the ballot counting buildings for stashes of illegal/counterfeit ballots. That’s what this was for – receiving illegal ballots to be stored until they’re needed. The Dems knew scrutiny during regular hours would prevent their import, so they hoped to do it over the weekend and prevent anyone from seeing it.

Security cam videos from all the buildings should also be seized.

I was living in Japan during one of their parliamentary elections. They operate exactly as you describe. The ballots are treated with the same level of security that we would treat millions in cash or gold. The ballots are only moved in government vehicles with police escorts. In Georgia, ballots are moved in personal owned vehicles without any law enforcement supervision whatsoever. I suspect that’s how it works in most or even all states.

    SoS? Raffensperger? Shirley you jest.

Yeah, that’ll work to improve the people’s confidence in the integrity of the elections … except when the democrats are in charge there is no such thing as integrity.

Fulton county… of course. They’ve never run a clean election. All those idiots yammering about how we have the most fair and clean elections in the world never lived in Fulton. It was a running joke for years that in close elections, bags of ballots would mysteriously appear on train tracks or in election official’s car trunks. This is Atlanta and corruption is just a way of life.

Those early numbers must have the steal the vote crowd in Fulton county scared. Why wasn’t everyone involved in the last fiasco fired? Oh, a feckless leadership in the Sec of State office down there plus a governor that is a RINO

Typical Republicans,..they ‘threatened’ , they didn’t do anything except to run their mouths whimpering about those mean Democrats
