Could Elon Musk Actually Buy MSNBC?

Could Elon Musk Actually Buy MSNBC?

“How much does it cost?”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIwLWfaAg-8

Since the election, MSNBC’s ratings have been falling dramatically with no signs of reversing. Their audience feels like they got played, especially now that Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have opened communications with Donald Trump.

There are rumors swirling in media that Comcast may sell off MSNBC, so naturally people are starting to wonder if Elon Musk could buy the network. People are not asking if Musk should buy it, because obviously, he should.

From the Telegraph, via Yahoo News:

‘How much does it cost?’ Elon Musk hints he could buy Left-wing MSNBC

Elon Musk has hinted he could buy MSNBC, the Left-leaning TV network, in a move which could see a dramatic realignment of the political news landscape.

The billionaire tech entrepreneur, who has railed against the “Left-wing” media, floated the idea in a post on his own social media network, X, jokingly asking how much it would cost.

Quoting a post from an account which claimed the network had been put up for sale by Comcast, because “lying non-stop to your audience is a lousy business model,” Donald Trump Jr tagged the mogul and wrote: “Hey Elon Musk I have the funniest idea ever!!!”

In response Mr Musk wrote: “How much does it cost?”. In a follow-up post he added: “The most entertaining outcome, especially if ironic, is most likely” with a laughing crying face emoji.

Mr Musk’s purchase of Twitter – which he rebranded as X – saw the landscape of the social media platform transformed.

This would be the funniest thing ever. If you thought the left was angry when Musk bought Twitter, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

In terms of what’s happening at MSNBC, Bill O’Reilly recently spoke to Chris Cuomo on News Nation and talked a little inside baseball. Say what you will about O’Reilly, but he does know the broadcast news business. This sounds completely credible:

O’Reilly is bombastic at times but has been in the business for decades and his read on this is spot on. Hate sells but for a very small segment that is nowhere near enough to support those hags on The View or the $30 Million Ricki Maddow is getting. The money is just not there,

I hope he does. Although Musk is a billionaire, he’ s not greedy like some billionaires.

When Kamala asked Oprah, “Will you help me?” Oprah said, “Sure, for a million bucks.”

When Trump asked Musk to help, he said, “Sure. I’ll help for as long as I’m needed.” Trump said, “How much will it cost?” And Musk said, “I’ll do it for free.”

Buying MSNBC would cost a lot of money because it will sell for more than it’s worth and have a terrible cash flow problem. And, liberal sponsors will quit advertising on the network. Musk has to decide if it’s worth the losses.

Advertisers look for eyeballs on pages or TV screens or websites. Changes of programming would just bring changes of advertisers is all.

I think that with the right shows with good talent – and above all – good ratings, the ad dollars would flow nicely.

I bet MSNBC employees are shitting bricks right now. The smart ones are looking for other jobs, with no success. They are now very damaged goods. Who would want them?

I am retired from most business now, but I I was hiring and saw MSNBC on their resume, they would not even get an interview.

Karma is coming for them.

Buy it and hold the clowns to their contracts. Force them to tell the truth and praise conservatism.

Watch their heads explode and pray for mercy and death.

Bwaaahahahahaha

msndc will have to find a new name. NBC cut the cord and they can’t use nbc in their name and can’t use any nbc news resources in their shows. Musk if he were to buy it should find the next Roger Ailes to run it and program it. Give Rogan 3 hrs to do his podcast as a simulcast. Find younger conservative voices shows. Maybe merge it with OAN. Lots of possibilities.

They can learn to code or put their application in @ Applebee’s or Starbuck’s.

Can you imagine — you sit down for a pleasant evening out with wifey and the kids

And then you hear that voice.

And you realize your server for your entire meal is Rachel Maddow.

They are already going bankrupt. Wisconsin Apple which owns 25 locations declared Chapter 11 last week and Applebee’s itself is shutting nearly 50 locations. Ricki might want to look at McDonalds.

I know that we are not supposed to take pleasure in the pain of others…but…the agonies of the MSNBC performers contemplating their futures under Musk fill my heart with joy.

Musk buying MSNBC would be an early Christmas present for the sane in the country. The wrapping paper and bow should be flashy and splashy.

If he does buy it, he could make it into a TV version of “X” and not be “Fair and balanced” but guarantee freedom of speech. Call a spade a spade and be prepared to call out lies from either side. Instead of permanent anchors, have guest anchors but hold them to the highest standards. Allow no propaganda and make every person on the network toe the line on truth.

    Great idea.

    Maybe it works out well.
    Maybe it doesn’t work out.

    Worth a try.

(Of course, easy for me to say — It’s not my money !!)

It seems as if you’re describing a kind of a serious citizen-scholar variation of America’s Got Talent.
(which nobody took seriously at all when it first aired. and has now been replicated all over the world.)
    – – –

Isn’t it curious that in a country of 300,000,000 people…

we get all of our “TV news and commentary” from the exact same 30 people? Day after day. Year after year?

Would it cost more if Maddow wasn’t part of the package?

I hope Elon doesn’t pay too much. MSNBC’s only value is that it’s attached to NBC news (which is worth a lot) but by itself, it’s nothing.

With it’s ratings in the tank and it’s hemorrhaging of money, Musk might make a go of it. Buy it, fire all the overpriced lunatics and rebrand it as center right with new people. He would be competing with Fox Business but I think there is a big enough audience that if he makes it pretty neutral he could turn a profit on it.

The best outcome for MSNBC is for it to simply die. A complete shutdown.

mmm maybe. But a REAL news outlet would do well. The market is starved for it.

The question is could it remain factual or fall into the same pit as Fox News?

“How much does it cost?” is the wrong question,… “How much is it worth?”

I don’t get it; what exactly would they be selling? Not the name, because once it no longer belongs to MS and NBC the new owner couldn’t use it. Surely the network’s only asset is its goodwill, and that appears not to be transferable. If Musk were to buy it, why would any of its current viewers stay? They want to be told the left-wing lies that keep them happy, so why would they stay with a renamed network that no longer told those lies?

The fact that the insufferable Maddow is being paid $30 million annually is obscene. Reid at $3 million is equally obscene. There are successful CEO’s — people creating jobs, products and wealth for shareholders and retirees — who aren’t paid that much.

These Dhimmi-crat media twits are pure worthless parasites.

I’m glad Comcast management is making this move, but, it should have been made at least a decade ago.

It is curious why/how Maddow could be worth that kind of money.

Is she laundering money to people, places, and organizations on behalf of Comcast? money that Comcast wouldn’t be legally able to pay out?

Is this a variation of the massive speaking fees that some folks get?

Or the massive “Author’s Advance” that some influential folks receive? For example, Valerie Jarrett

    Pretty depressing stuff.

It’s hard to believe that any other business on earth was or is willing to pay Zmaddow anything close to what Comcast pays her.

Comcast should have been, and still does, tossed into the scrap bin of history a long time ago.

Like many here, I cut the cable and have Roku. I pick what I want to watch, and bootleg off my kid’s streaming channels.

No more bundled cable bills that support channels I would never pay for otherwise.

If I would buy it I would insist that Comcast’ assume the liability for all employees and separate them from the company.
