New DOJ Report Confirms Trump’s Debate Comments on Rising Crime Were Right

“The annual National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) showed total instances of reported violent crime — including rape, robbery and aggravated assault — is up from 5.6 per 1,000 in 2020 to 8.7 per 1,000 in 2023.”

During Tuesday night’s presidential debate, ABC News co-moderator David Muir stepped in to “fact check” GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on comments he made about how bad crime has gotten in the United States under the Biden-Harris administration.

“Crime here is up and through the roof,” Trump stated as Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris was shaking her head and disputing him. “Despite their fraudulent statements that they made. Crime in this country is through the roof.”

In response, Muir said, “President Trump, as you know, the FBI says overall violent crime is coming down in this country.”

Trump fired back, correcting Muir:

“…the FBI — they were defrauding statements. They didn’t include the worst cities. They didn’t include the cities with the worst crime. It was a fraud. Just like their number of 818,000 jobs that they said they created turned out to be a fraud. “

Watch:

Trump was correct, as Crime Prevention Research Center president John R. Lott Jr. wrote in a detailed piece published the next day:

In fact, Trump was correct about the increase in crime under Biden. While violent crime fell by 17 percent under Trump, Biden has seen it rise by 43 percent.

Muir doesn’t understand what the FBI is measuring. The FBI counts the number of crimes reported to police. Trump was right that less than half of police departments are now giving that data to the FBI, but, more importantly, Trump was discussing what was happening to total crime, not just the number of crimes reported to police.

But as it turns out, new data released by Joe Biden’s Dept. of Justice on Thursday essentially made Trump’s point for him:

The DOJ’s survey from the Bureau of Justice statistics is self-reported instances of violent crime over the last six months — meaning that it includes crimes that may not have been reported to police.

The annual National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) showed total instances of reported violent crime — including rape, robbery and aggravated assault — is up from 5.6 per 1,000 in 2020 to 8.7 per 1,000 in 2023.

The highest recent rate of violent crime was in 2022, when the survey tracked 9.8 instances per 1,000 people over the age of 12.

The rate of rape increased from 1.2 per 1,000 in 2020 to 1.7 in 2023, while robbery went from 1.6 per 1,000 in 2020 to 2.6 per 1,000 in 2023, and aggravated assault rose from 2.9 per 1,000 in 2020 to 4.5 per 1,000 in 2023.

Trump talked about it in remarks given Friday:

The numbers he used come from an analysis done by Lott of the data from the most recent report and the 2014-2018 report:

Some Very Online Leftists, like Keith Olbermann, were in denial – and had to be set straight (language warning):

As the old Ben Shapiro saying goes, the facts don’t care about your feelings, and they definitely don’t care about the left’s/media’s feelings on this issue.

ABC, as with most legacy media, sold its soul on the alter of anti Trump at any cost. Believe it or not more and more average folks have noticed that the thumb on the scale and any errors or omissions only cut in one direction. It’s deliberate and it isn’t being hidden, heck they ain’t even trying to conceal their bias. Average folks can see what is in front of them; rising crime, open borders, 20% +/- rise in average prices, mortgage costs up dramatically, exploding deficits.

Exactly. When the history books are written for the early 21st century, historians will be bothered by a burning question they will never be able to answer:

Why did so many Americans go crazy because one man simply wanted to be president of the United States?

Its inevitable that they lie.

Their neoMarxist program is so devastating to what normals consider our American life that they have to gaslight the NPCs, and hope that its successful enough long enough that no one brings out the torches and pitchforks.

President Trump is always right

I just got done riding my e bike around my 1100 house neighborhood

Lots of Harris signs, we are north of Austin

Most are where all the Democrat signs usually are along with the always declaring gay flag, so sick of that freaking flag.

I believe that about 6000 communities didn’t even contribute to those statistics, communities in high crime areas.

The National Crime Victimization Survey is a periodic sample from thousands of households who fill out a questionnaire. These are crimes not processed by the justice system. The FBI statistics should correlate but today they don’t. I haven’t looked at the NCVS since 2008 when they did away with Table 42. This table displayed data on the type of crime and the characteristics of both the victim and offender. It showed that sexual assault by black men on white women was far greater than white men on black women which was close to zero. Any wonder why this table disappeared after Obama was elected. The data was still collected but not published. I looked at NCVS today and it’s hard to interpret. Gone are the clean flat tables. I no longer have the interest or the energy to pursue this further.

Nevertheless Trump was right on all aspects. Crime is up and some big cities with high crime rates no longer report to the FBI. New York City is perhaps the most corrupt. Years ago a cop recorded his bosses commanding the suppression of crime reports. The Village Voice put the recordings online. The department went after the cop and had him committed to a mental hospital as he had done nothing wrong. He sued the city and lost. I was born in NYC, raised, educated and worked as an adult. I know the place well. Horrible. I don’t think I ever want to set foot in the place again.

Correction to me. The cop is Adrian Schoolcraft, and he won has case against the NYPD collecting $600,000 in 2015. He also won his case against Jamaica hospital for an undisclosed amount. His recordings covered 2008-2009. He was forcibly committed to the psych ward and the hospital had the nerve to bill his parents over $7,000. Thus the doctors were complicit in his illegal, unjustified commitment violating their oaths and medical ethnics. The corruption in NYC spreads wide and deep. Check Wikipedia for a summary of what happened to him. There is also a book “NYPD Tapes” by Rayman. This is like the Soviet Union where political dissidents were put in psychiatric hospitals. I had Schoolcraft confused with another similar case involving a veteran who suffered similar treatment and lost his case.

Packs of kids riding wheelies on dirt bikes through traffic is just the start of a breakdown of society.
Anyone else noticed the “T” sound in diction has changed from a hard sound made by placing your tongue behind your front teeth to a guttural “uhh” from the throat?
ex…the name Martin is pronounced “Mar-enn” and didn’t is “din-enn”.
It saddens me to see it all bastardize so quickly.

Crime has skyrocketed over the past 4 years. Just the daily stories from the largest urban areas shows that in living color. The waves of violent gangs crossing the border is fueling a large percentage of it. Other petty crimes that don’t get reported, but occur nonetheless. If crime is down, then why have gun sales increased dramatically? FKH

Prophetic words from Ace over at Ace of Spads who accurately predicted that the media would proclaim Harris the winner on the night but as the days and weeks roll on more and more of what the media proclaimed as Trump lies are being shown to be true.

Orwell strikes again as telling the truth is now radical.
