Victim of 2021 Antisemitic ‘Pro-Palestinian’ Attack Outside Los Angeles Restaurant Awarded $1.6 Million By Court

Victim of 2021 Antisemitic ‘Pro-Palestinian’ Attack Outside Los Angeles Restaurant Awarded $1.6 Million By Court

“awarded due to the overwhelming evidence demonstrating the outrageous nature of the antisemitic attack, including explicitly anti-Jewish hate speech”

In the spring of 2021, long before the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7th, pro-Palestinian activists attacked Jewish diners outside of a Los Angeles restaurant. The assailants were part of a caravan of vehicles, with members screaming anti-Israel rhetoric through a megaphone.

We covered this incident when it happened:

As the sacred Jewish holiday of Shavuot came to a close early this week, shocking footage surfaced on social media of what appears to be an anti-Israel gang’s vicious attack on Jews having dinner outdoors in Los Angeles….

The Jewish victims of the attack are reportedly members of the robust Persian-Jewish community that calls Los Angeles home; witnesses say the attackers targeted them as they paraded through the heavily Jewish area (on foot and in cars), moving from group to group asking who was Jewish. Some clips show the caravan of anti-Israel protesters driving through the neighborhood screaming into megaphones at Jewish passersby.

Watch below:

The highest court in Los Angeles has now sided with the victims.

Glaser Weil reports:

Los Angeles Superior Court Awards $1.6 Million in Damages to Victim of Hate Crime in Antisemitic Sushi Fumi Restaurant Attack

A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge has ordered two protestors to pay more than $1.6 million in damages to hate crime victim, Mher Hagopian, who was assaulted in a now-infamous Antisemitic attack outside the Sushi Fumi restaurant in Los Angeles.

In a horrifying video from the May 2021 incident, a group of people in a caravan of cars are shown yelling and chanting antisemitic profanities while flying Palestinian flags. According to a witness, the group began throwing bottles and other items at diners as they were sitting outdoors eating dinner at Sushi Fumi. The video then depicts about eight people, most dressed in black, converging on the diners. An assault ensued and the fight grew increasingly violent as it spilled onto the sidewalk. One man is shown to be pushed up against a car, punched and kicked.

The hate crime case involved civil claims against two defendants. Glaser Weil Associate Simon Moradzadeh, alongside partners Patty Glaser and Julie Gerchik, represented Mr. Hagopian pro bono. Hagopian, who is not Jewish, protected his Jewish friends and other diners from the caravan of protestors who attacked them. In the process of protecting the Jewish diners, Hagopian was assaulted by the mob—including the defendants—resulting in severe physical and emotional harm.

The $1.6 million in punitive damages was awarded due to the overwhelming evidence demonstrating the outrageous nature of the antisemitic attack, including explicitly anti-Jewish hate speech captured via text messages. Two such texts say, “I never got to hit a Jew before so I’m Kinda Happy;” and “I need a blunt and then we go find Jews…”

This is a good reminder that we had a problem with this type of hate in the United States before October 7th. Of course, things have only gotten worse since then.

Surely Jews in California have cause to seek concealed carry permits.

Nice. More, please.

The thing about leftists is that their rage is completely determined by who an act is carried out against.

Attack Jews in a race filled rage and nothing.

Look at a black sideways and its the end of times with CNN and all the other Democrat propaganda outlets on your case 24/7.

They don’t care what, they only care who.; Forget equal justice under the law. That is such a quaint principle.

This is good, but means nothing. The award is against two protesters. I doubt little to nothing will be collected and paid to the victims.

Those defendants are loyal blue voters. Maybe the plaintiff and defendants can bury the hatchet when they meet up at Kamala’s next LA fundraiser.

Who’s going to pay?? The defendants don’t have squat for assets.

I fear this is a pyrrhic victory at best.

names of the suspects???

were they jailed?

did the money come from the suspects or from a tax funds?

In September, the Los Angeles County District charged Xavier Pabon, 31, and Samer Jayylusi, 36, with two felony assault counts with hate crime enhancements for attacking two men “because of their religion.”

Police arrested Pabon outside his home in Banning, a city in Riverside County about 100 miles east of the restaurant, on May 21. He was booked into jail on assault with a deadly weapon and hate crime charges but released two days later after posting $275,000 bond. Jayylusi, 35, was arrested May 25 in Anaheim and posted $150,000 bond about 14 hours later.

Neither man has been formally charged with a crime. A Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office spokesman said last week the case “remains under review.”

Two Men Sentenced to Two Years Probation Over Sushi Fumi Attack
The two men, identified as Samer Jayylusi, 37, and Xavier Pabon, 32, had been charged with two counts of felony assault and a hate crime.

All of these attacks and hate are enabled by the vile Dhimmi-crat Party and its apparatchiks at all levels of government, given their milquetoast condemnations of the violence, and, the Dhimmi-crats’ gleeful and willful political alliance with the Jew-hating, Islamofacsist, Muslim supremacist culprits. Not to mention, the Dhimmi-crats’ seminal role in inciting Jew-hate, via decades of dishonest anti-Israel slanders and vilification.

FBJ SUPPORTS THESE BLMPLO RIOTERS:

Israel has achieved all that it can militarily in the Gaza Strip, according to senior U.S. officials, who say continued bombings are only increasing risks to civilians while the possibility of further weakening Hamas has diminished.

With the Biden administration racing to get cease-fire negotiations back on track, a growing number of national security officials across the government said that the Israeli military had severely set back Hamas but w

This is nice what are the chances that thugs like these probably have no money and just won’t pay?

Given my recollections of Jewish classmates battling their consciences over allowing themselves to enjoy the incredible Chinese cuisine available in Cambridge and Boston, I was somewhat bemused by the image of hordes of observant Jews patronizing a sushi restaurant in LA. A fast search indicated that sushi can be kosher if you stick to “fins and scales” and use all the correct preparation utensils, but I wondered what the chances were that this kitchen would be set up for that. Yet, there is a line on their menu: “*No substitution unless religion matter.” Live and learn.
