MISINFORMATION
Chicago is a Leftist homeland. It is one of the highest crime areas and highest murder rate areas in the country. Incidentally, it has be ruled by Democrats and the Left for generations and has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. The gun laws are rarely enforced or prosecuted because those who break the laws are mostly protected classes.
Reading cop blogs, it seems that in addition to being woefully shorthanded at best, better than 1000 police have gone on long-term medical leave starting Monday and will not be available for anything. Apparently that 1000 includes members of their command staff, which will not encourage the remaining line staff. This may get interesting.
At this point it is way too late, but hopefully businesses in Chicago have moved at least their most expensive inventory to a safe place, and non-retail businesses have moved critical records, documents, and computers/computer storage to safe places so that reconstitution of their businesses after the convention will be possible somewhere.
I rather expect that events stemming from the convention and the demonstrations around it will do quite a bit of damage, and incidentally that in the aftermath even more businesses will be moving out of Chicago or out of Illinois as a whole. Mind you, this does not disturb me.
