House Republicans Demand Answers From Biden Admin Over Countries Refusing to Take Back Illegal Aliens
The representatives want to know “the status of the thousands of Chinese nationals as well as other illegal aliens from recalcitrant countries living in the U.S. today.”
House Republicans, led by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), demanded DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and AG Merrick Garland provide answers about countries that refuse to take back illegal aliens.
“Unfortunately, in some cases, the administration has lifted visa sanctions from recalcitrant countries such as Laos in February 2022 after reportedly facing pressure from non-governmental organizations to rescind the visa ban,” wrote the representatives. “Ensuring a timely return of removable aliens should be a priority for the administration. The administration should ensure every country accepts all its repatriated citizens, with no exceptions.”
Chinese nationals are a growing group of people who cross our borders. We’ve seen others from Turkey, Senegal, Romanians, etc.
In other words, most people crossing our borders are not from Mexico or the Northern Triangle countries (Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador).
The representatives want to know “the status of the thousands of Chinese nationals as well as other illegal aliens from recalcitrant countries living in the U.S. today.”
Our government has a solid list of countries considered recalcitrant (uncooperative):
Unfortunately, in some cases, the administration has lifted visa sanctions from recalcitrant countries such as Laos in February 2022 after reportedly facing pressure from non-governmental organizations to rescind the visa ban. Ensuring a timely return of removable aliens should be a priority for the administration. The administration should ensure every country accepts all its repatriated citizens, with no exceptions.
As of July 2020, ICE also listed Bhutan, Burundi, Cambodia, Cuba, Eritrea, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Laos, Pakistan, and Russia as recalcitrant countries. Additionally, ICE considers Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Burma, Ethiopia, Gambia, Israel, Jordan, Mauritania, North Macedonia, Samoa, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tonga, Ukraine, Vietnam and Yemen at risk of non compliance.
The representatives concentrated on China, claiming China and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) pose the gravest “threats to the United States’ economic and national security.”
The number of Chinese nationals exploded in 2024:
As of May 2024, more than 31,309 Chinese nationals were encountered at the southern border this fiscal year. With four months remaining in fiscal year 2024, the U.S. has already surpassed the record 24,314 Chinese nationals encounters recorded in FY 2023. Indeed, from FY 2020 to FY 2023, there was a 1,800% increase in Chinese illegal alien apprehensions at the southern border.
Further, in April 2023, it was reported that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB) instructed its agents to reduce the number of interview questions to vet Chinese nationals from 40 to only five, which undoubtedly makes it more difficult for CBP officials to detect security threats, especially after they are released into the interior.
Concerningly, in FY 2023, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) only removed 288 Chinese nationals from the U.S. while it encountered tens of thousands of Chinese illegal aliens at the southern border the same year. Additionally, roughly 100,000 Chinese nationals with final orders of removal remain in the country, as Beijing has been slow or outright refused to accept the repatriation of its citizens. On July 2, 2024, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced it conducted “the first large charter flight since 2018” of returning Chinese nationals with the cooperation of the PRC but did not reveal if these aliens had criminal backgrounds, harbored ties to espionage networks, or the specific reasons for removal. A news report found that DHS only expelled 116 Chinese nationals in the charter flight.
The DEA uncovered a money laundering scheme between Chinese organized crime and the Sinaloa Cartel.
Wealthy Chinese nationals face obstacles when they want to transfer assets to America. The Chinese government doesn’t allow them to transfer more than $50,000 annually out of China.
The drug cartel gives the Chinese organized gangs access to U.S. dollars. The Chinese gangs buy materials needed to make drugs for the drug cartel.
Numerous marijuana farms across the country have opened thanks to Chinese money.
In fact, Oklahoma changed immigration laws because of the relationship between Chinese organized crime and Mexican drug cartels.

They want answers? Hilarious. They will get lots of answers, none of which will make any sense. Republicans just enjoy the passage of time until these jargon laden, prolix evasions are issued.
One thing I don’t quite understand, not being a lawyer or very smart. We seem to insist on sending illegals back to what we presume is their ‘country of origin’ although I doubt if we have actual proof of that country in most cases. I would simply inquire which border they crossed (North or South being the only choices in most cases) and simply shove ’em back across that border. When that’s in doubt, we can presume that the Southern border in most cases. One assumes that they had legal authority to be in that country, and if not can be repatriated to their country of origin from there… or pushed back across the border by which they entered that before illegally transiting to the U.S.
Exactly. If they crossed from Mexico, its Mexico they go back to. If they entered Mexico from some other country, Mexico can move them along.
We should do what Biden’s minions did to northern cities and just land a plane well south of the border and disgorge a few hundred of returnees. Every time El Paso gets a plane-full they send it south to some random airport. The venerable C-130 can handle short and rough landing strips and accommodate a lot of passengers. Maybe Mexico will start enforcing its southern border to save them some trouble.
They don’t really like us anyway, so give them an actual reason.
“They don’t really like us anyway, so give them an actual reason.”
My thoughts for years.
Two difficulties, despite my liking your plan:
1) The potential to build a large community of disaffected persons right on our border. That’s where later invasions come from.
2) Empowering the cartels with more manpower. Especially since a lot of these people owe the cartels, anyway – so they’ll just work off their debt in Mexico instead of the US.
These aren’t show-stoppers, but need to be considered when looking at implementation.
The globe has no shortage of sandbars.
That might be a way to obtain Medico’s cooperation in determining their origins …
As I look around at our infrastructure, I notice the near catastrophic damage that could be done by one person with minimal material. What type of damage could be done by 10,000 or 100,000 agents of a hostile nation should our warmongering government get into a real conflict with Russia or China?
Seems like a simple fix. Until they accept their folks back halt all new Visa entries, Tourist, Student, Work and apply an immediate 5% tariff on all goods from those Nations. Then have an automatically escalating tariff of an additional 1% per month for six months.
If at the 6 month mark they still refuse halt all flights and deny port calls to any craft originating from or transiting those Nations. Place an embargo on their commerce. Then revoke all current Visa for their Citizens and expelled 1/2 their diplomatic personnel. Deport their Citizens to the nearest Nation that will accept them as refugees (hint pay someplace to take them).
Political will is the key ingredient which is sorely lacking across the political spectrum. Too many political snouts in the financial trough to come close to what I propose.
“House Republicans Demand Answers From Biden Admin Over Countries Refusing to Take Back Illegal Aliens”
Agree with most of what CommoChief said above except it lacks one basic essential. We need to loudly announce to the world (and our idiots on the left) that we have NO obligation to keep them and we have no obligation to give them transport to their countries of origin. They are in fact country shopping criminals and we are well within our rights to imprison them should we choose to.
Notice that none of them are sneaking into China, because the Chinese aren’t stupid enough to put up with this crap… unless they need some slave labor.
Prisons cost money and there’s the not insignificant chance the next d/prog admin will just pardon them and turn them loose. far better to ship their ass home or failing that to some 3rd Country we basically bribe to take them off our hands, preferably one not in our hemisphere.
Maybe just say eff it and ship their as to N Alaska and set them loose…didn’t deport them so no whining about that from leftists. Give them a couple cases of MRE, basic hand tools, blankets, tarps and so on to build their shelter let them figure it out.. After all we keep being lectured that these folks have the ‘pioneer spirit’ of our ancestors and are ‘just looking to build a better life through hard work’ so give them the opportunity in N Alaska near/in the Arctic circle.
And you might help out all those poor polar bears dying from globull warming. I mean animals gotta eat, too, right?
Political will is the key ingredient which is sorely lacking across the political spectrum.

Several things must be accepted as the current reality:
1) The current government of the United States [regardless of the question of who is actually running it at the given moment] has absolutely no problem with the waves of hostile foreign invaders and indeed wishes to increase their number as much as they can. In order to do this they ignore the laws of the United States and the rights of the citizens of the United States deliberately and will continue to do so.
2) “House Republicans” who “demand answers” are not the majority of the Republican caucus in the House.
3) In any event, if after the passage of an obscene amount of time DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and AG Merrick Garland either ignore the questions or respond with suggestions involving anatomical actions that are less than feasible; we can be absolutely positive that when push comes to shove that enough “Republicans” will either absent themselves or vote with the Democrats in any attempt to compel the administration to follow the law to make the effort moot.
4) It would be well for us to familiarize ourselves with the events that led up to the Réaction thermidorienne and the events that followed.

Four of those House Republicans voted against sanctioning Garland for withholding the Hur-Biden tapes today. Twelve Republicans didn’t bother to vote at all.
The House Republicans need a damned good flushing.
Anyone who supports open borders for America should be considered a traitor and dealt with accordingly.
Also, we need to stop immigrating people altogether. 334 million Americans is more than enough to support America.
At minimum a complete pause until we find and deport the illegals and assimilate the remainder. Probably won’t take longer than 25 years but all those whining about this sort of pause have themselves to blame for pushing too far and now the pendulum is gonna have to swing very far in the opposite direction.
I’m willing to go with 40 years. There are precedents for that length of time.
They don’t have to accept them, just fly them home in a C-141 and kick them out the back at about 1000 feet.
Parachutes optional.
after reportedly facing pressure from non-governmental organizations
IOW, the globalist progressive Davos set. You know, the same people trying to tear down the borders of all western countries.
Oh, you don’t want to take back your citizens?
“Mr. Treasurer. As of this evening, 8 pm, there shall be no legal currency exchanges between the US and the countries not accepting the return of their citizens. Furthermore, no US aid to those countries. Any ships from their ports must be turned back. See how they like those things.”
The US could start canceling some of its huge debt.
That would work for the Chinese: Build prison camps for Chinese nationals that cannot be returned on unused federal lands such as deserts and the more remote parts of the Alaskan interior. Deem all American American assets held by Chinese as Chinese government property – under all Chinese governments, everything only belongs to a person until some government official wants it, so none of it is truly “private property”. Seize enough to pay for building the camps, then every year seize more to pay for the cost of holding Chinese nationals in them.
And separate the men and women – we don’t want them breeding citizens. Make sure the guards aren’t helping in that, either – select them by sex to start with, and where it’s necessary to have men guarding women or vice versa, have _one_ penalty for sex with an inmate – castration or spaying.
