Review: Climate – The Movie (The Cold Truth)

Review: Climate – The Movie (The Cold Truth)

Big government created the climate change crisis, not carbon dioxide.

Earlier this month, I noted that the CO2 Coalition had joined the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), and the Heartland Institute had presented the American premiere of Climate: The Movie (The Cold Truth).

Climate: The Movie is an engaging and informative review of the other side’s perspectives on the climate change debate. It is supported by scientists who have signed Clintel’s World Climate Declaration, which states that there is no climate emergency.

I had a chance to sit down and watch the film this week. I am delighted to report that it was one of the most engrossing documentaries I have ever viewed. As advertised, the movie documents the cold, hard truth about how the climate change narrative arose and why its supporters are bitterly clinging to their beliefs about carbon dioxide and its impact on global warming. Here is the video from YouTube (and a link to Rumble is HERE in case eco-activists make it disappear from YouTube).

Climate: The Movie intersperses interviews with a wide array of experienced scientists (astrophysicists, climatologists, geologists) with fun video clips and clear graphics to make the case that the only crisis is the hysteria created in the wake of Big Government’s drive to push a narrative to extend its power and influence.

These experts argue that there is no “consensus” and the science is not “settled.”

The presentation of information and ideas is divided into three main parts: the science related to global warming, how Big Government funding actually created “global warming,” and the current political and policy consequences of climate crisis hysteria.

For example, in the first portion of the science, the documentary meticulously covers four reliable temperature change measurements (rural surface stations, ocean gauges, satellite readings, and atmospheric balloons). The four different show that all the “expert” reports and models from the United Nations’ International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are mostly based on sites within large cities and, therefore, subject to distortions in the record by the urban heat island effect.

One bit I enjoyed learning from this film was the connection between cosmic rays and cloud formation.

High-energy radiation from space, known as galactic cosmic rays, can affect Earth’s climate by increasing cloud cover and causing an “umbrella effect”, according to scientists.

Besides atmospheric temperature and the amount of water vapour in the air, cosmic rays beaming down through space also contribute towards cloud formation. This is particular during Earth’s geomagnetic reversal — a phenomenon where the planet’s overall magnetic field flips.

The rays can enhance the formation of low-lying clouds or increase the global cloud cover ultimately leading to the cooling of Earth’s atmosphere.

The Sun’s influence cannot be discounted, as noted by Dr. Willie Soon (researcher at the Solar and Stellar Physics Division of the Center for Astrophysics—Harvard & Smithsonian).

The next phase of the movie delves into how climate change morphed into a global industry. It began when former Vice President Al Gore directed $2 billion into climate change research. That gave academics all sorts of reasons to rework grant proposals on diverse subjects, including global warming hysteria.

Dr. Roy Spencer, a climatologist/meteorologist who has worked with NASA and analyzed global temperatures using data obtained from satellites, explained:

The United States Congress only funds research into problems.

…If Congress is willing to pay you to find evidence of global warming then, by golly, as scientists, we’re going to find evidence of it. Because that’s what we’re being paid to do.

And, guess what….if you don’t find evidence — or, say, the evidence suggests it’s not a problem….your funding ends.

This totally corrupts the way we look at the science.

Perhaps the most difficult part of the film was watching these hard-working scientists recount the professional ostracism they experienced when they published data challenging the climate change narratives.

For example, Dr. Henrik Svensmark of the Danish Space Institute had climate cultists call, demanding he not be hired for jobs. I think you can see the hardship of the situation in his eyes as he explained what happened when he shared his truth that the Sun impacts climate.

The third portion of the film shows how globalist bureaucrats have used the climate crisis to drive policy and micromanage personal lifestyle choices regarding clothes, food, shelter, and transportation. Trillions of dollars are spent on an industry devoted to solving a crisis that does not exist.

While the third part, highlighting the battle between climate and freedom, starts grimly, it ends on a high note: the Farmers’ Protests, which we have been covering at Legal Insurrection.

Many working people are not merely skeptical, but positively angry about the climate alarm and all that flows from it.

There is a suspicion…or perhaps realization…that climate change is an invented scare, driven by self interest and snobbery, cynically promoted by a parasitic, publicly funded establishment hungry for ever more money and power: An assault on the freedom and prosperity of the rest of us.

I give the movie six stars out of 5: The extra star is being provided for making the science data accessible and understandable for most people (as well as the fun movie clips).

I urge anyone who has seen it to give a “thumbs up” on YouTube or on the Internet Movie DataBase.

Finally, please share this film widely and often.

In conclusion, The big government created the climate change crisis, not carbon dioxide.

Great review. I saw the movie a few weeks ago and it is a “must watch” – 80 minutes The science is presented in an easy to follow fashion – not only things like CO2 levels being ten times higher in the past, but also temperatures much hotter, like no ice in the Arctic. This is a scam about money, power and control.

Climate changes; that is what it does.

If you have your choice between warmer and colder, take warmer every time. An Ice Age will really mess up your day/millennium/millennia.

Would you rather lose a bit of beach front property or have the Midwest under a mile of ice?

The real “climate deniers” are those who refuse to recognize that climate change is a natural and constant process.

BartE in reply to DaveGinOly. | April 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

You so realise that the film is total crap. Instead of releasing peer reviewed papers the climate deniers have to release pop film with a veneer of science to pretend they have a point

Fishman in reply to BartE. | April 1, 2024 at 5:31 pm

BartE, you mean like ManBearPigs, An Inconvenient Truth?

BartE in reply to Fishman. | April 2, 2024 at 5:02 am

An inconvenient truth was largely accurate in context of being a popular science film. Sure certain parts were a bit over the top but that doesn’t negate the underlying facts within the film.

jagibbons in reply to BartE. | April 2, 2024 at 9:23 am

Peer-review is worthless if the science behind it is flawed. Climate alarmism is a cult. An Inconvenient Truth was sadly lacking nearly entirely on truth. The famed hockey stick diagram is known to be skewed.

BartE in reply to jagibbons. | April 2, 2024 at 10:33 am

Peer review is teh gold standard for establishing what the science actually is, none of which supports the climate denier narrative. There is a distinct lack of papers that support any position climate deniers take instead having to rely on blog posts and ‘movies’

“The famed hockey stick diagram is known to be skewed.” The hockey stick graph has an initial issue with respect to how the stats were applied which was then corrected and guess what it looked almost exactly the same. Its also the case that the temperature curve observed in the data looks like the hockey stick so your point fails quite spectacularly.

” An Inconvenient Truth was sadly lacking nearly entirely on truth”
          Scientists disagree with you

“Climate alarmism is a cult” Climate denialism is a cult, there corrected in for you. This is evidenced by not just the complete lack of argument but the endless repetition of the same debunked arguments for decades. Its actually pretty hilarious when climate deniers trot out the same nonsense.

Ding, ding, ding, you win and lose.

Mankind has impacted the planet in many positive and negative ways. Those that historically profited the most from capturing, adapting and marketing resources to the masses have decided that model of wealth creation has got to go. And the new model, funded through the wealth they’ve extracted from man and the planet, requires reducing consumption in order to equalize men, except of course for them.

A few published quotes tell the story:

“— “The common enemy of humanity is man. In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.” — Club of Rome, premier environmental think-tank, consultants to the United Nations.

— “We need to get some broad based support, to capture the public’s imagination… So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts… Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest.” – Prof. Stephen Schneider, Stanford Professor of Climatology, lead author of many IPCC reports.

— “We’ve got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy.” – Timothy Wirth, president of the UN Foundation.

— “No matter if the science of global warming is all phony. … climate change provides the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.” – Christine Stewart, former Canadian Minister of the Environment

— “The data doesn’t matter. We’re not basing our recommendations on the data. We’re basing them on the climate models.” – Professor Chris Folland, Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research.

— “The models are convenient fictions that provide something very useful.” – Dr David Frame, climate modeler, Oxford University.

— “It doesn’t matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true.” – Paul Watson, co-founder of Greenpeace.

Mass mining humanity for fun and profit at humanity’s expense is today’s game.

Climate alarmism is a pro-Marxist, anti-Capitalist movement. Nothing more. It is about shifting wealth to a small number of individuals at the expense of 90+% of the world’s population. Capitalism is about CREATING wealth. Granted any human system will be flawed, but the notion that wealth cannot be created and must simply be moved around has been demonstrated to be false throughout the entirety of human history. Marxism cannot succeed except for the few in the politburo who are in control.

What governments did with climate change is the same thing they did with COVID-19 and the vaccine. They paid medical personnel to report any case of COVID-19 to the CDC and in return, they would get payments. Just like the climate change industry, the healthcare industry learned very quickly that even though a person died from an obvious cause like a gunshot to the head, if they had any trace of COVID-19 in their body, that’s what they died from and the money flowed in. It’s called “Inducement” and we all know what that means.

Preaching to the choir. I have no need to see it, and those who have, won’t.

    thad_the_man in reply to E Howard Hunt. | April 1, 2024 at 11:04 am

You need to know the rebuttals for the people you talk to that are on the bubble.

      E Howard Hunt in reply to thad_the_man. | April 1, 2024 at 11:12 am

Already know them, and I’ve yet to
      meet a bubble balancer.

This should be interesting then, can you explain why the temperature has *increases year on year on year in line with the climate models?

Azathoth in reply to BartE. | April 2, 2024 at 12:08 pm

“can you explain why the temperature has *increases year on year on year”

          Of course.

We are leaving an ice age.

We have been for quite some time.

“in line with the climate models?”

But nothing is in line with climate models–those are fake, designed to show catastrophic warming regardless of the input source.

BartE in reply to BartE. | April 3, 2024 at 2:01 am

          @azathoth

Coming out of an ice age is a process that takes thousands of years, it doesn’t explain the temperature curve that we are seeing given how rapid it is.

Studies have already demonstrated that the climate models are accurate. This is just fact. You pretending that they aren’t isn’t much of an argument.

      chocopot in reply to thad_the_man. | April 2, 2024 at 8:08 am

Anyone who has been paying attention over the last 25+ years should have a clear understanding by now that every “crisis” that has come along for decades has been created out of thin air by the globalists and their puppets in governments all around the world. And every time, the goal has been the same: destroy individual rights, consolidate more power and control into the hands of the globalists, and bring the world one step closer to The One World Government/The New World Order/The Great Reset. If people don’t wake up soon, the entire world will be like North Korea.

BartE in reply to chocopot. | April 2, 2024 at 10:38 am

Anyone paying attention for the last 25+ years will realise that climate deniers have nothing of substance to say.

Fascinating I wonder when PBS is going to show this

NASA says the increase in carbon dioxide has greened an addition 5% of the planet’s surface area. In area that is equivalent to the entire Amazon rainforest.

https://www.nasa.gov/technology/carbon-dioxide-fertilization-greening-earth-study-finds/

Spoiler alert: lots of tired debunked arguments that no one who knows what they are talking about cares about.

Fishman in reply to BartE. | April 1, 2024 at 5:33 pm

    Example, see “an Inconvenient Truth”

Paddy M in reply to BartE. | April 1, 2024 at 8:19 pm

You know anyone can compare the predictions of your peer-reviewed papers and GIGO computer models of the past to what actually occurred, right? You cultists have been screaming the sky is falling for decades, yet your batting average is 0.000. We should totally believe you this time though!

Doomsday cults are known for moving the date of the doomsday when it doesn’t come to pass. Sound familiar?

BartE in reply to Paddy M. | April 2, 2024 at 4:57 am

“You cultists have been screaming the sky is falling for decades, yet your batting average is 0.000”

You seem rather badly informed, one of the climate denier tactics is to pretend every scientist made the same predictions when the go wrong, example the 70’s claims regarding an ice age. The reality was most papers predicted global warming.

Id also point out that the hockey stick graph has been proven accurate given the year on year temperature increases. Studies have shown the climate models to be accurate. Your just wrong on the facts.

Lol I don’t recall climate scientists claiming the world will end on day x only making a broad range of predictions with respect to increases in temperature and the impact on the climate. Predictions like for example that certain climate mechanisms will go past tipping points if the climate change we are seeing goes much further, which is why last year was so concerning where the climate models were underestimates of the temperature. A point conveniently forgotten by the nonsensical film cited in this article.

Paddy M in reply to BartE. | April 2, 2024 at 7:20 am

Here’s just one “tipping point”. You cultists nailed this one, BartE!

        https://www.theguardian.com/environment/earth-insight/2013/jul/24/arctic-ice-free-methane-economy-catastrophe

Cultists don’t realize they’re in a cult until they leave it. You readily admit to thinking An Inconvenient Truth and the hockey stick graph are accurate, so you won’t be leaving any time soon.

BartE in reply to Paddy M. | April 2, 2024 at 8:04 am

It helps if you actually read the article, its embarrassing when you cant even do the most basic due diligence

“Not everyone agrees that the paper’s scenario of a catastrophic and imminent methane release is plausible. Nasa’s Gavin Schmidt has previously argued that the danger of such a methane release is low,”

          Paddy M in reply to Paddy M. | April 2, 2024 at 11:11 am

Or I wasn’t referring to Schmidt in my post, BartE. Just the clown that was being interviewed by the other cultist at The Guardian with whom you undoubtedly agree. You know, almost the entire article.

BartE in reply to Paddy M. | April 3, 2024 at 2:05 am

          @paddy m

Your response is silly, the article clearly indicates that the claim is questioned by other clinate scientists and considered a bit fanciful. That’s a direct contradiction to your notion that climate science is a cult which would suggest uniformity in all aspects.

The Kenyan farmer towards the end of the doc nails the climate cultists’ asses to the wall. He basically said the clowns in the West got theirs, but they don’t want him to have his and he rejects that like any sane person would.

The earth’s climate is not and has never been stable. We could in theory determine that this instability has increased to some unprecedented degree. Isolating the cause is much more difficult. Then, there is the question of estimating the consequences. Suppose we determined that we know the cause and the consequences and that we are headed to a global disaster. Can anything be done at the global political level to reverse it – practically not theoretically? And finally is this course of action, supposing you could pull it off, better than doing nothing and expecting people at the local level to cope as best they can with situations as they arise?

Climate hysteria is a house of cards that serves the lust for power of global elites. We cannot know what the activists assume we know. What these activists propose to do cannot be done. Trying to implement them is a prescription for a massive human catastrophe.

    BartE in reply to cwillia1. | April 2, 2024 at 10:35 am

“Isolating the cause is much more difficult” Not really we know how CO2 works and we can track the amount along with the temperature, the temperature curve has been predicted under various scenarios depending on various factors for something like 50 years. These models have been proven largely accurate albeit last year the models severely under estimated the increase in temperature. If anything temperature models are too conservative

Azathoth in reply to BartE. | April 2, 2024 at 12:35 pm

If I were to put an image in front of you with 440 red dots spread through a circle of 999,560 green dots you’d see a green circle.

That’s how low the total CO2 content is.

And that’s got to work for ALL of us. It’s got to feed ALL the plants, it’s got to trigger breathing in everything that breathes oxygen –you did know that, right? If there’s no CO2, your brain doesn’t know to breathe.

BartE in reply to Azathoth. | April 3, 2024 at 2:07 am

And lol, you seem to think you have a point. Co2 is well understood, which is why it tracks with temperature changes and as the co2 content goes up temperature goes up. Your not really saying anything useful here

SBF and Madoff are pikers compared to the global establishment climate scammers.

THANK YOU, Linda, for posting this video!! It is one of the most powerful, and irrefutable documentations which thoroughly discredits the entire Climate scam and exposes it for what it truly is: a dangerous racket set-up to enable vast wealth transference and ever more power to the elites.
A MUST SEE by all people!
