California Republicans Will Make Another Attempt to Recall Gov. Newsom

California Republicans Will Make Another Attempt to Recall Gov. Newsom

“Gavin Newsom has abandoned the state to advance his presidential ambitions, leaving behind a $73 billion budget deficit and a public safety, immigration and education crisis.”

In my post from Monday morning, I wanted to know if California Gov. Gavin Newsom had better things to do than target other states.

I’m not alone because California Republicans plan to launch a fifth attempt to recall the Democrat governor. The group Rescue California made the announcement today.

Leslie covered the only recall attempt that actually made it to the ballot, which took place in 2020/2021, over the strict COVID regulations and Newsom not applying those regulations to him and his cronies.

The latest complaint is over the state’s deficit, rampant crime, and illegal immigration.

People are not blind to his ambitions:

Proponents of the latest attempt, which is led by Rescue California, pointed to Newsom’s ambitions and his role as a super surrogate for President Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection campaign. They contend the governor is too busy occupying himself on national politics while the state is racing to close a massive budget shortfall. Last week, the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office projected that the state budget faces a $73 billion deficit, nearly double Newsom’s own forecast.

“Gavin Newsom has abandoned the state to advance his presidential ambitions, leaving behind a $73 billion budget deficit and a public safety, immigration and education crisis,” said Anne Dunsmore, an Orange County fundraiser and the campaign director for Rescue California. She said more than 400 Californians of varying political persuasion have joined together to serve as official proponents of the new recall. That includes others from the last effort such as Orrin Heatlie, the retired county sheriff’s sergeant from Yolo who helped get the ball rolling in 2020.

“California needs a full-time governor who is fully focused on the serious problems the state and its citizens are facing,” Dunsmore said. “This may be our last opportunity to rescue and restore our state, while we highlight for the rest of the country the destruction Newsom has left in his wake.”

Super PACS connected to Newsom has put out so many ads in red states, especially about abortion.

Even Newsom’s response includes abortion. The man is obsessed with the murder of unborn human beings.

I find the ones claiming that California is a bastion of freedom hilarious.

Newsom even wasted his time and money debating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

California is worse than it was during the last recall attempt. I bet Rescue California can get the 1.38 million verified signatures needed by May to qualify for the statewide ballot in November.

It is very wasteful. Democrats need those dollars for the general election fraud operation.

Why do the Republicans in California bother? Three is no chance of a recall being successful. None

Ty Mary,

it was easier when I was a kid… all we did was holler
“ollie ollie,oxen free”

Isn’t it good news for Californians if he’s abandoned the state?

“ Trump Republicans are launching another wasteful recall campaign to distract us from the existential fight for democracy and reproductive freedom.“

That sentence, in his own words, contains the two main planks the Democrats are betting will win them the WH and the House of Representatives.

1) A fight for (their brand of) democracy
2) Abortion and IVF

I wish them well. It may qualify for the ballot, but even now it probably won’t succeed unless a single strong alternative candidate emerges – who probably needs to be a democrat. But that’s not likely because Democrats circle their wagons when one of them threatened, whereas Republicans form a circle firing squad.

My last two political acts in California, before fleeing to Idaho in 2021, were to sign the Newsom recall petition and attend a recall rally at the Huntington Beach pier.

Democrats love him and besides, even if right about everything, Republicans can’t be allowed to win no matter what.

Of course, because Democrats have been fighting an existential war to change the nation’s foundational principles against an opponent, the GOPe, that is in complete denial.

CA is lost cause.

The CA state legislature is Dem super majority. After arnold won, the CA state legislature rejected all his policy proposals. Almost nothing was approved, even though arnold was independent RINO who bent over backwards to reach across the divide and compromise. Then after Dems regained the governor mansion, they approved all the Dem governors policies which were almost the same as what arnold had proposed.

It doesn’t matter if the state is dumpster fire burning out of control. The districts are gerrymandered so that Dems will always control the state legislature. There will be no “course correction”. CA is facing lost decade. Move out if you can, musk got it right. Easier to move entire company than reform CA.

Yep. A victory is only a victory if it enables future victories. The recall of Davis achieved nothing.

As long as he and his ilk have control of the ballots you can try all you want.

In a campaign cycle where Republicans are already facing an enormous fundraising delta to the Democrats, California Republicans want to waste money on this? They don’t call the GOP the party of stupid for nothing.

when they do have the power the gop refuses to stop the welfare state

when they are out of power they complain that if you just send them more $$$$$$ the will get back power and thennnnnn

(still) refuse to stop the welfare state

Why? California has made its choice. Repeating past failures will yield an even worse result.

Newsom is only a part of the problem. California is just a mess of Leftist bullshit, figuratively and literally. If you’re going to fight California, you need to fight all of California, not just Newsom.

“Newsom even wasted his time and money debating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.”
I think that was a very important debate. Newsom and DeSantis are pretty good representations of the bases of their respective parties, and would be the top candidates if by some strange happenstance both Biden and Trump were to withdraw from the current presidential race.

“California is worse than it was during the last recall attempt. I bet Rescue California can get the 1.38 million verified signatures needed by May to qualify for the statewide ballot in November.”
Even the successful recall petition effort of 2021 had a very tough time getting sufficient signatures. And, unlike 2003, when Arnold Schwarzenegger became the face of the pro-recall movement, there is no widely-known and well-liked recall hero to lean upon. If we had a recall election this November in California, it likely would receive less votes in favor of recall than Trump will receive for president.

If they did get the recall on the ballot, they’d just screw it up again when someone on an ego-trip made it all about them and not about Newsom.

Governor Newsom implored Buffett to back the demolition project to save the salmon populations that Native American tribes in the area rely on. “The river is sick, and the Klamath Basin tribes are suffering,” said Newsom in his letter. “The Klamath dam removals are a shining example of what we can accomplish when we act according to our values.”

Many tribes also issued a joint letter with Governor Newsom in support of the dams destruction.

It sounded good on paper – at least it did to the bureaucrats agitating for it.

But according to local officials, “it’s an environmental disaster.”

“I’ve been around natural disasters all of my life, and I’ve never seen anything like this,” Siskiyou County Supervisor Ray Haupt recently told the Globe. “The river is essentially dead, as is everything in it.”
——————————
Ironically, but without any humility, Gov. Gavin Newsom recently announced:

Following the Newsom Administration’s request for a Federal Fishery Disaster Declaration amid dramatic declines in key salmon stocks in 2023, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced $20.6 million to support impacted fishing communities in California, including commercial fishermen, recreational fishermen, subsistence users and charter businesses.

So after killing off hundreds of thousands of salmon and fish, Gov. Newsom is getting federal money to restore “impacted fisheries.”

Is this gross government incompetence or something more sinister?

I’m guessing you pretty much know what happened with the tribals. Radical enviro’s bribed the Elders, and then use them as a foil to fend off true conservationists.

Newsom and company have their fingers in sham “conservation” programs up and down the state. It’s nearly impossible to list them here – and point to the graft and collusion between NGO’s, county, state and federal agencies.

There’s simply no reason why BLM, USFS, State Parks and “conservationist” NGO’s should be buying ranch land in valley-coastal regions to create huge wildlife “corridors”.

After they do these land grabs, they gate off all public access except hiking. And very few people use these remote access points.

Follow the money. Especially when silicon valley venture capitalists are funding those very same NGO’s.

RFK Jr. was in on the Mojave desert sham. He was frontman for silicon valley venture capitalists. The grift was “BrightSource Inc,” planned to be built on land bought via BLM “conservation” land. DiFi got angry because RFK Jr. was muscling in on her patronage scam.
