Eco-Extremist Demands Farmers, Fishermen Be Tried for “Ecocide” in Latest Day of Davos Insanity

Eco-Extremist Demands Farmers, Fishermen Be Tried for “Ecocide” in Latest Day of Davos Insanity

JoJo Mehta’s “Stop Ecocide” work will soon be known throughout a much larger world…but in ways that she likely will not care for.

I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed Mary Chastain’s report on Argentine President Javier Milei, who gave an amazing, pro-freedom speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

However, he appears to be an island of reason in a sea of insanity. Let me introduce you to one of the other speakers: Jojo Mehta, the Founder of Stop Ecocide, who wants to criminalize the side effects of farming, fishing, and energy production.

Here are some excerpts from the panel Mehta participated in to give you a better idea of the nonsense WEF attendees are treated to.

“Ecocide as a word is becoming better known around the world. And the concept is generally the mass damage and destruction of nature.

“But, legally speaking, what our organization and other collaborators aim to do, is to have this recognized legally as a serious crime. Because one of the issues that pervades all of this discussion, is that we have a cultural very ingrained habit of not taking damage to nature as seriously as we take damage to people and property.

“…You’re campaigning for human rights..at least you know mass murder, torture, all of these things are serious crimes. But there is no equivalent in the environmental space.

“And so, unlike an international crime like genocide, that involves a specific intent, with ecocide, what we see is what people are tying to do, what businesses are trying to do is make money, is farm, is fish, is do all of these things that are producing energy and so on. What’s missing is the awareness and conscience around the side effects…around the collateral damage that happens with that.”

Digging into Mehta’s background, she has a BA in French & Italian from Oxford and an MA in Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London (study opportunities in the arts and humanities, social sciences, computing, and entrepreneurial business and management). I see no evidence of the hard sciences related to biology, geology, chemistry…or even a serious study of agriculture.

In conclusion, Mehta is hardly an expert on industries that are so vital to humanity. Still, she persists:

The core work to make ecocide an international crime at the international criminal court, is supported and progressed by a large network of over 45 teams and associate groups globally. There are over 50 thousand endorsing signatories across civil society and faith groups, and a growing number of endorsing businesses and organisations.

Jojo has a natural ability to connect and inspire, coupled with an unshakeable faith in the human imagination and capacity for positive change. She has contributed to law conferences, diplomatic events, environmental summits and climate rallies as well as podcasts, interviews and articles for publications and broadcasters ranging from TIME Magazine to the New York Times and from The Guardian to the BBC.

This rapidly growing conversation means that recognition of ecocide as a crime is now emerging as a key potential solution to address the climate and ecological crisis.

Actually, most Western governments and first-world countries take damage to nature through the violation of regulations very seriously. As an environmental health and safety professional, I know of fines and criminal penalties that are heaped on people (especially those who willfully violate regulations). I have been part of cases where there has been a negotiation between businesses and regulators about stiff penalties.

So, the more effective effort for Mehta would be working to get poor nations richer.

However, Mehta’s appearance puts some recent news in perspective. If she has been doing this work since 2017, and politicos have had steady exposure to the WokeMindVirus, it is little wonder the Dutch farmers revolted against the government-imposed eco-insanity in 2023…and other farmers are beginning to protest now.

It is chilling to consider how much of our political class has been exposed to this lunacy, with no push-back from the media or an opportunity for scientists and industry leaders to challenge their claims.

Thank heaven that X is now providing a window into the madhouse that is Davos.

Mehta’s “ecocide” will soon be known throughout a much larger world…but in ways that she likely will not care for.

Another great moment at Davos:

It’s all so contrived. And sure, the people performing these acts are probably genuine in that this is what they do. But for these snobby, jet-flying elitists to trot them out on stage and act as if they participate in these “rituals” as though they’re customary to their way of life is ridiculous.

In a riveting moment at the World Economic Forum, President of Argentina Javier Milei sent shockwaves through the room of globalists, stunning them into silence. His powerful message exposed them for allegedly contributing to the decline of the Western world.

“I’m here to tell you that the western world is in danger, and it is endangered because those who are supposed to defend the values of the West are co-opted by a vision of the world that inextricably leads to socialism and thereby to poverty.”

Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged

The world is becoming a very difficult place for those of us who tend to the sarcastic. I mean, remarks like “what will they do next, try to ban farming?” have totally lost their bite.

They really do want billions of people to disappear. Famine, disease, whatever works is fine with them. They’re completely serious.

BierceAmbrose in reply to JohnC. | January 19, 2024 at 12:15 am

“The only mistake you can make is being insufficiently cynical.” — BierceAmbrose, private communications beginning 2013

They’re calling for general genocide when we’re on the generation-scale cusp of population contractions world wide.

What was going to happen already will happen despite them, thenthey can claim victory for their seized authoritah, to justify seizing more. See, for example the ‘rona responses.

    LeftWingLock in reply to Fat_Freddys_Cat. | January 18, 2024 at 6:57 pm

Teacher in Washington State now says “straight” is an offensive word and shouldn’t be used.

Milhouse in reply to LeftWingLock. | January 19, 2024 at 2:00 am

The irony is the the word was originally “strait”, as in narrow. As late as 1930, “gay” meant sexually loose (not necessarily with members of the same sex), and “strait” was a name for those who stuck to the strait and narrow. “Square”, in the language of a generation or two later.

What JoJo, et al., are advocating is the death of 90% of the human race, i.e., genocide.

    Martin in reply to rbj1. | January 18, 2024 at 9:47 am

Yes. That is in fact what they want.
They think that 500 million is the correct human population for the world.
So death to 94% of the human race currently.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to rbj1. | January 18, 2024 at 11:11 am

But she and her ilk are not included in that genocide.

    navyvet in reply to rbj1. | January 18, 2024 at 11:12 am

No, they want us all to eat bugs and/or recycled cardboard.

    And then, to die.

Meanwhile, they’ll dine on Kobe Wagyu steak and congratulate themselves how brilliant they are.

    DaveGinOly in reply to rbj1. | January 18, 2024 at 12:53 pm

True, but people like JoJo don’t understand that. However, the people JoJo spoke to at Davos do understand that, which is why she was invited to speak there. She’d be horrified at how her ideas will be purposed, and will likely never understand that there could have been no other outcome when her ideas became reality.

    diver64 in reply to rbj1. | January 19, 2024 at 3:35 am

Quite right. Food production, food gathering and energy. Same old overpopulation nut in a new package but at least she brought a “witch doctor” as a floor show.

    SDN in reply to rbj1. | January 19, 2024 at 9:44 am

Then people might need to start remembering the cold fact that genocides are not stopped by words or ballots.

A fair sized number of my friends are farmers and lobstermen. They are some of the hardest working, resilient, and determined people I know. Charging them with “ecocide” will not have the effect the climate cultists are hoping for.

I say she should give up all farm-grown vegetables and all fish-derived products in her life, first. She should probably surrender all petroleum-based products, as well. Oh, and natural fibers, as well – except what flax she can harvest from the public roadways and turn into her own handmade artisanal clothing.

Again, you go first, honey.

Martin in reply to GWB. | January 18, 2024 at 9:49 am

You don’t understand. She is special and will need to be supported so that she can show us the way.

    Fat_Freddys_Cat in reply to GWB. | January 18, 2024 at 10:16 am

We all know she isn’t going first; in fact she won’t be going at all. I just wonder: is she so dim-witted that she thinks we’re falling for it? Or is she so authoritarian that she doesn’t care if we believe her or not?

Of course she could be a dim-witted authoritarian. Our institutions of “higher learning” seem to be producing a bumper crop of those.

Dennis Prager recently made the point that most of the Leftists and Dhimmi-crats who rabidly support the obnoxiously narcissistic, misogynistic and child/teen-exploiting/abusing/manipulating “trans” phenomenon are also gleeful supporters of Muslim supremacists and terrorists in Hamas and other Islamofascist groups.

I’d add to Prager’s observation by noting that the correlation between Leftists/Dhimmi-crats promoting utterly obnoxious, irrational, destructive and insane “green’ environmental conceits, and, support for Muslim supremacists/terrorists, is undoubtedly also very high

Not.
One.
Clue.

Why do we even acknowledge them?

    Fat_Freddys_Cat in reply to scooterjay. | January 18, 2024 at 10:19 am

I think we do have to watch out for them because they have either infiltrated our institutions or the ruling class sees them as a lever to get more power. They may be monkeys on crack but the monkeys have hand grenades so it might not do to completely ignore them.

      stevewhitemd in reply to Fat_Freddys_Cat. | January 18, 2024 at 1:14 pm

We do indeed need to watch: Jojo Mehta is a communist, pure and simple, and this is what communists do. The issue is never the issue, the issue is always the revolution. If spouting off about ‘ecocide’ furthers the revolution (remember, comrades, by any means necessary), then that is what she does.

Past experience with communism demonstrates that they do not care one whit about the environment.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to scooterjay. | January 18, 2024 at 11:14 am

So we can ridicule them. Mercilessly.

Why do we even acknowledge them?
So we can start pairing them up with their lampposts early.

thalesofmiletus in reply to scooterjay. | January 18, 2024 at 12:29 pm

Why do we even acknowledge them?

Because they either are or aspire to be part of the global ruling class, and that makes them an existential threat to us all.

Just who pays this woman’s salary? Where does her funding come from? This stuff just does not spring up from nowhere.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to rotsaruck. | January 18, 2024 at 11:15 am

    Soreass and Klaus von Nazi.

stevewhitemd in reply to rotsaruck. | January 18, 2024 at 1:16 pm

An excellent question; a good team of investigative journalists could drill into the funding of “Founder of Stop Ecocide” and follow the money.

      AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to stevewhitemd. | January 18, 2024 at 1:21 pm

Sorry doctor. There are no good investigative journalists left. They have all moved to the dark side and have become deep state propagandists.

Those who believe they are investigative journalists will be hunted down, shamed, and arrested

UnCivilServant | January 18, 2024 at 10:08 am

I’ll take you seriously when you stop eating food that comes from either farms or fisheries.

She needs to eat only what she can forage. And, while she’s at it, she needs to go live in a cave or a hut constructed from materials she finds lying around.

She hasn’t missed a meal

I know the new leader Milei sounds great, and he indeed has put his actions so far into deeds….

But why meet with bill clinton almost immediately. In America, upon winning?

It’s just suspect to
Me .

DSHornet in reply to gonzotx. | January 18, 2024 at 12:09 pm

Yeah, I noticed she looks rather well fed.

And what kind of goofy costumery is that in the X entry by Post Millennial?
    .

Those who work against the farmers should not be allowed to eat any of the food they produce.

AF_Chief_Master_Sgt | January 18, 2024 at 11:10 am

That ugly cow looks like she has never missed a meal.

Farming? She’s eating farm products at a table that would make a midieval king look like a pauper.

Meat? She looks like she has all the meat she needs and then some.

Fish. Caviar for her but no guppies for you. Eat crickets and roaches you lesser humans!

Energy? Is she living in a shack, or does she own multiple dwellings on a seaside resort?

Airplanes and boats, is she walking or riding a bike, or jet setting the world over. She didn’t get to Davis by walking. Her fat ass shows it.

One saving grace is that I bet these “crazies” have fewer than average number of children.

The world wide IQ drops every time one of these clowns thinks they have something to say.

BigRosieGreenbaum | January 18, 2024 at 11:45 am

Is JoJo the well fed looking one? I wonder why the anti Israel freaks aren’t disrupting Davos…

BigRosieGreenbaum | January 18, 2024 at 11:47 am

I now pronounce that her new name will be HoHo from this day forward. And I did that without hardly any energy expenditure at all. So there!

So what did they serve her for meals at Davos? I’ll bet she partook in meals that included meat and fish–my guess is her “ecocide” is just for the little people

I would say the best solution is for the people with those beliefs be held to them. They should not be allowed access of any kind to any product of agriculture, hunting or fishing. With that in place, I figure that the situation would rapidly resolve itself as the morons starve to death.

Crawford in reply to Ironclaw. | January 18, 2024 at 3:07 pm

Or indoor heating, plumbing, sewerage, and lighting. They want everyone to live a primitive lifestyle, they can go first. And all travel must be by foot or canoe.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to Ironclaw. | January 18, 2024 at 3:09 pm

We should also be ready to enforce that requirement.

There may come a time to destroy all businesses that support and feed them. Burn their companies to the ground. Run their supporters and suppliers out of towns and cities.

    As Maxine Watets said:

    “They’re Not Welcome Anymore, Anywhere.”

“If you see anybody from … in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them,”

“History is not going to be kind to” (these people), she said. “But we want history to report that we stood up. That we pushed back. That we fought. That we did not consider ourselves victims.

What’s good for the left is good for the right.

Voice_of_Reason | January 18, 2024 at 2:48 pm

Jojo Mehta should lead by example and stop eating any food made on farms. On the bright side, she will get really skinny…

They just want to starve billions of people, reduce the population by 85% and have the remainder live in dire poverty while they still have total control and all their mansions, jets and yachts.

I mean, is that unreasonable?

/jk

Jojo does appear to be well fed. Is she proposing to have everyone else go on a diet?

I can’t get what she is proposing. If I, a farmer, dig a ditch does that require an environmental impact statement?

Perhaps those pushing economic constraints in the name of climate change should also be subject to a cost/benefit analysis? If so, I would expect few if any such regulations would pass a critical review.

Everything old is new again. That recent spasm, reported above, sounds like The Club of Rome, and its various excreta.

Weirdly, or maybe not, the CoR’s misdirected spasm of manufactured despair and agenda-twisted “understanding” in part catalyzed the brilliant “Places to Intervene in a System” by Donella Meadows. (There’s an institute by her name, still, these days. She’s a coauthor on at least one of the CoR “reports” — “reporting” on stuff that hasn’t happened.)

Or maybe not so weirdly. Maybe only the righteous are so unconstrained they’ll consider any way to inflict their progress on the world.

Understandings like that maybe ought to go with a superhero’s moral story: “Use these powers only for good.”

I have an idea. She should demonstrate how one lives without farming, fishing or relying on mined products for a year. She can’t live in a house or apartment, because those were constructed using lumber cut from forests. So she’ll have to go live in a cave or construct a hut made from whatever she can scavenge. Likewise, she’ll have to forage for food, and she’ll have to figure out how to cook it without using fossil fuel … and by the way, solar etc are manufactured using fossil fuels so they’re out. So she’ll have to figure out how to start and maintain a fire. Clothing? Well, probably every stitch she’s wearing at some point required fossil fuels and farmers (I’m assuming she’s wearing all natural fibers) ….

In other words, send this weird sanctimonious idiot back to the Stone Age.

I think it would be highly instructive to her and very entertaining for the rest of us.

Farmers and fishermen, stop feeding these woke fools.
