Report: Cecily Strong Felt Uncomfortable, Backed Out of SNL’s Tone-Deaf Antisemitism Hearing

The cold opening pounced on Rep. Elise Stefanick (R-NY) instead of the awful college presidents who wouldn’t oppose or condemn the antisemitism on their campuses.

The trash that is Saturday Night Live pounced on Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) instead of the disgusting college presidents (well, now one former since UPenn’s Liz Magill resigned).

Instead of targeting the presidents who would not oppose or condemn those on their campuses who scream for the liquidation of Jews, the leftist show went after a Republican congresswoman.

Of course.

Well, a source told The New York Post that former SNL cast member Cecily Strong planned to play Stefanik during the cold opening, her first appearance since she left in 2022.

But Strong backed out because the skit made her uncomfortable:

Strong, 39, appeared as a guest in the dress rehearsal ahead of the live show, then changed her mind “last minute” about playing Stefanik in the sketch, which mocked last week’s congressional hearings on antisemitism on college campuses. Newcomer Chloe Troast replaced Strong on air.

The opening sketch is always the last one to be written and Saturday’s was slightly rushed, according to sources. Indeed, there was a mix-up with the nameplates in front of stars Heidi Gardner (playing now-resigned UPenn president Elizabeth Magill) and Chloe Fineman (playing MIT president Sally Kornbluth), later corrected in the online version.

Strong’s guest appearance would have been her first time back since leaving in December 2022, after 11 seasons on the NBC show.

A TV source told The Post: “Cecily was uncomfortable with the sketch.”

Another insider added: “There were a variety of reasons, and last minute Cecily pulled out of the cold open.”

Stefanik’s office said she received numerous calls from Republicans and Democrats about the skit, all of whom expressed disgust with it:

In an exclusive statement, Alex DeGrasse, Stefanik’s Senior Advisor, told The Post: “Elise did not watch it. However, her office was flooded with messages from thousands of Americans across the political spectrum — Democrats and Republicans — who were appalled and disgusted by the antisemitic trash spewed by unfunny, morally bankrupt ‘comedians.’

“SNL made history with the worst cold open ever because everyone knows there is absolutely no humor in the vile answers from the university presidents regarding their failure to condemn calls for the genocide of the Jewish people.”

Just wait until next week’s SNL opener.

    Screenplay:

Fade in to military-looking encampment surrounded by barbed wire fencing. Black smoke emanates from smokestacks, long lines of disheveled people waiting to enter the doors below. Their clothing is unkempt and dirty, with a visible Star of David sewn on the left breast pocket.

Close up of hawkish man in his early to mid 30’s, wearing a long black leather coat, a service cap with a shiny silver totenkopf in the center of the crown.

The military officer is forcing the people to move faster into the building, insisting that they needed showers to maintain hygiene. It is clear that there are no exit doors with people leaving the other side

Switch to extreme long shot with soldiers screaming:

“Live from Bergen-Belsen! It’s Saturday Night Live!!!!!”

Urbane Menshevik Lorne Michaels approved it.

They think they’re in touch politically, like SNL of the distant past, but they are as ignorant as Gen Z, and less funny than an undertaker.

Oh for the old days of SNL

SNL is done. It’s a dead-show walking. Somebody should tell them.

As long as if brings in enough revenue to stay profitable, it will remain.

Disagree. SNL is no different than I suspect that CNN is these days. Someone is paying them to disseminate propganda as comedy or news. Those who are watching SNL these days are like kids who used to say “Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?”

Ditto for The Tonight Show. The ghost of Robert Conquest nods sadly.

The most embarrassing SNL skit he’s ever seen? He must have missed the Hillary playing piano routine. I still get nauseous thinking about that.

Or the one where they played the wrong lip-sync backing for Ashlee Simpson.
Or Al Franken impersonating various celebrities (eventually including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir), all with “steel spikes in their eyes.”

I would ask why nbc continues to allow Shit night live to continue to even be aired. This goes way deeper than snl and it’s bigoted bunch.

Stefanik screwed up. As we’ve seen, you can rail all you want, however you want, at whoever you want, if your dais is high enough. She left out the jumbotron, too.

I watched about a minute of it, which is more than I’ve watched of Saturday Night Live in decades. But I couldn’t stand to watch any more. It was that bad.

The last show I watched had Eddie Murphy in the cast, and even then intermittently.

“Dark and lonely on the summer night.
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
Watchdog barking – Do he bite?
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
    Slip in his window,
    Break his neck!
    Then his house
    I start to wreck!
    Got no reason —
    What the heck!
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
    C-I-L-L …
    My land – lord …”

That was funny at the time. But even now, that’s a normal night in New York and Chicago.

And yet:

Just watch what happens going forward:

Dumbass American Jews will continue to try to find work at NBC and SNL

And they’ll continue to watch the show.

Dumbass American Jews will not wake the fruck up and recognize that what’s happening today in America is ……. different.

Dumbass American Jews will not even THINK about contingency plans for themselves or their children to get out of the U.S.

If there’s one thing you can always count on, you can always count on American Jews to make the most dumbass choices. “We’ve always been good Americans, everything’ll be fine. Everything will be just fine.”

    Where they gonna go?

The world is on fire, and there are no safe places left for them to go.

In fact, where are we going to go? No new frontiers, no safe spaces.

Looks like we’re gonna have to stay and fight it out.

Hey Ms. Cecily Strong – Good on you 🫡

Satire is not complicated, you simply take factual events and exaggerate the mannerisms of the participants for comedic effect. SNL used to know how to do this, Dana Carvey as Ross Perot and Phil Hartman as Bill Clinton at McDonald’s. Normally this is done to take the air out of the sails of the side of an exchange generally perceived as ‘wrong’. The writers of this skit chose to flip that by attacking Stefanik and the utterly clueless Univ admin who want to defend antisemitism.

That’s not comedy, it’s an ideological agenda. Especially when the SNL product cuts one way 95% of the time it becomes little more than propaganda. SNL has devolved into poor version of former self. YouTube content creators, there are lots of them, are way more funny and relevant b/c they stick both/all sides to produce comedy. Just like SNL used to do when they were funny and still relevant.

I remember the days of SNL when Chevy Chase would pratfall his way through Gerald Ford, a star athlete in high school and University of Michigan.

Today, Joe Buy Them is a walking talking pratfall waiting for SNL to imitate. Falling down aircraft stairs, mumbling with rapid changes to screaming during speeches.

Bill Clinton was prime for extra marital affairs. Can you imagine what SNL could have done weekly with Monica Lewinsky perpetually under Bill’s desk?

Not to mention “Fat Al” Gore with his nonsense.

    Comedy today is dead.

I suspect that the only reason that they were somewhat truthful about the Klintons on SNL was to provide some plausible deniability. Real claims could them be dismissed as “someone got that idea from an SNL skit.” I still think the series with the Klintons and the Arkansas State Police visits was some of their best work. Can only imagine the fun that the old-school writers could have with Hunter.

I’m so old I remember back when Saturday Night Live was funny…

I like Elise Stefanick. And I dislike political correctness. But SNL is exactly right here. Stefanick was rude and disparaging to the university people she badgered. It seems like it is not just liberal Democrats who enjoy preening and virtue signaling to the howling mob.

No she was not. She was not rude but she was stern once the stonewalling began. Her emotions were very transparent because she was stunned by what was transpiring in front of her.

When testifying in front of Congress it might be a good idea to drop the smug and condescending attitude when one represents an institution that wants to retain its significant carve outs from taxation and also wishes to remain eligible to receive Federal funds.

These administrators are off the flipping chain in trying to simultaneously claim ‘we support free speech/1A, diversity of thought on campus’ but have a pronounced imbalance in faculty political affiliation as well as a tendency to create hurdles for non leftists invited to speak. Then there’s the acknowledged antisemitic record of Harvard for some context President Gay overlooked in her testimony, just as she apparently overlooked proper attribution and citation in her academic publications, to include her PhD Dissertation.

I suspect that the next time a GoP majority exists in the Senate and HoR along with a motivated POTUS there just might be some changes in how Federal education funds are allocated and whether Univ with huge Endowments remain tax exempt. That’s to start.

    😭

So I am sitting here envisioning a “Downfall” parady where Hitler is ticked off that Ivy League Presidents have co-opted his “shtick” as their own. Writes itself.

The SNL opening with Dave Chapelle and Chris Rock seven years ago was awesome.
