Ilhan Omar, Other Democrats Express ‘Concern’ Over MSNBC’s Cancellation of Mehdi Hasan’s Show

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.): “It is deeply troubling that MSNBC is cancelling his show amid a rampant rise of anti-Muslim bigotry and suppression of Muslim voices. Anyone who cares about free expression should be concerned.”

Roughly a week after the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians began in October, MSNBC faced accusations of “racism” from Democrats over their decision to remove three former Al Jazeera journalists from their anchor slots.

The three were Ali Velshi, Mehdi Hasan, and Ayman Mohyeldin, all of whom were weekend anchors on the network.

The belief from MSNBC‘s critics was that the three were being shuffled around to other assignments because as Muslims they were too sympathetic to Hamas and the people of Gaza.  According to a Semafor story at the time, NBC said the moves were “coincidental, and the three continue to appear on air to report and provide analysis.”

Nearly two months later, Hasan’s shows on the network and its streaming service have been canceled:

MSNBC has canceled Mehdi Hasan’s Sunday night opinion show as part of a broader shakeup across the network’s lineup of weekend programming.

Hasan, who will remain with the network as an on-camera analyst and fill-in host, informed his staff of the decision on Thursday morning, Semafor first reported.

The network plans to fill Hasan’s Sunday night slot with a second hour of a show hosted by Ayman Mohyeldin, whose total broadcast time on MSNBC will be expanding to four hours on both Saturday and Sundays.

Hasan confirmed the reports in tweets addressed to his Twitter/X followers:

In response to the news, the Usual Suspects including members of The Squad lined up to express outrage and to suggest/imply that this was being done to silence a Muslim voice:

This might have something to do with it:

Further, as another Twitter user observed, the “silencing a Muslim!” narrative is kind of nuked considering MSNBC is expanding the time slot of Ayman Mohyeldin, another Muslim anchor:

Andrea Karshan, who states in her Twitter bio that she is a “Patrilineal Jew Ex-Muslim #Jewish Convert, Pro-#Israel Pro-Palestinian,” had this to say:

MSNBC canceled Mehdi’s show mostly because his viewership was down.If people aren’t viewing his show, they can’t keep it running. That wouldn’t be smart business. So I guess not everyone agrees with you that he is such a great journalist. Or more people would have been tuning in.

Here’s the thing the pearl-clutchers on the left don’t get.  Though Hasan is indeed losing his show, the fact that he’s going to be a guest anchor and on-air political analyst means he’s likely to get more visibility than his weekend program ever got.

I’m not a fan of his because of the anti-Semitism he’s expressed over the years, but even I can see that in reality this is good news for Hasan and is not likely to diminish his voice at all on MSNBC.

But the Outrage Machine gotta Outrage Machine, so here we are.

“Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.): … amid a rampant rise of anti-Muslim bigotry and suppression of Muslim voices.”

Oh, blow it out your ass, Ilhan. We’ve been subjected to nothing but Muslim chanting and screeching every place, every day, for the past month.

Hamas has revealed the true nature of muslims.

Omar & associates should be worrying about being canceled.

Just what offing planet does Omar live on because I ain’t seeing any “rampant rise of anti-Muslim bigotry” or “suppression of Muslim voices” around here. If anything the moslem changing a screeching is getting worse here in the United States.

We care as much as she does when a Conservative is let go.

Great to see the exposure of those committed to stand with Hamas, degradation of humans, and overall hatred, and those who aren’t.

The big MO created Islam as a religion of war and oppression. His followers spent 500 years practicing Islam by conquering their neighbors, capturing slaves and murdering. They are still practicing their religion as they behead babies, rape women and gouge captives eyes out. Only democrats support this and call those who oppose Islam bigots. Just because you oppose Islam doesn’t make you Islamophobic, it makes you a moral person.

Every time a Muslim tries to reform Islam for the better, their fellows murder them. This has gone on since dipshit MO created Islam to cement his power, to have his way with 9 year children, and murder anyone who disagreed with him.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to JohnSmith100. | December 2, 2023 at 7:04 pm

There is no “reforming” Islam as Islam was declared the “final, perfected religion” that would “supplant all other religions worldwide”. And therefore as the “perfect religion” it cannot be changed. To do so would move it away from perfection so change is not ever going to happen. So sayeth the imams and ayatollahs. so it will be.

Attaturk made a decent run at it in Turkey but couldn’t live forever.

    THE CRUSADES IN CONTEXT
By Dr. Paul Stenhouse © 2007 Chevalier Press,

Current wisdom would have it that ‘five centuries of peaceful co-existence’ between Muslims and Christians were brought to an end by ‘political events and an imperial-papal power play,’ that was to lead to a centuries-long series of so-called “holy-wars” that pitted Christendom against Islam, and left an enduring legacy of misunderstanding and mistrust.'[1]

A school textbook, Humanities Alive 2, for Year 8 students in the Australian State of Victoria, carries the anti-Christian/anti Western argument further:

Those who destroyed the World Trade Centre are regarded as terrorists. Might it be fair to say that the Crusaders who attacked the Muslim inhabitants of Jerusalem were also terrorists?[2]

Muhammad died in Medina on June 8, 632 AD. The first of the eight Crusades to free the Holy Places in Palestine from Muslim control, and offer safe passage to the Holy Land for Christian pilgrims, was called only in 1095. At the risk of sounding pedantic, the period in question is not ‘five centuries,’ but four-hundred and sixty-three years; and those years, we contend, were not characterized by ‘peaceful coexistence’.[3]

    Islam’s attack on Christianity

For the Christian states bordering the Mediterranean, it was a four-hundred and sixty-three year period of regular, disorganized [and occasionally organized] bloody incursions by Muslim mainly Arab and Berber land and sea forces. These came intent on booty – gold, silver, precious stones and slaves – on destroying churches, convents and shrines of the ‘infidels,’ and on the spread of politico-religious Islam throughout Europe from their bases in the Mediterranean and the Adriatic.

No, Mo created islam as a odious political ideology to justify his wars of oppression. It had nothing to do with religion then and doesn’t have anything to do with religion today.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.). Didn’t she feff her own brother?

    henrybowman in reply to LB1901. | December 2, 2023 at 7:04 pm

It was a fraudulent “marriage of convenience” to get him immigration papers. If there was any feffing going on, it’s an entirely separate issue.

Milhouse in reply to henrybowman. | December 2, 2023 at 7:50 pm

There was no “feffing” going on; the whole time she was supposedly married to her brother she was living with her real husband, whom she had supposedly divorced, presenting herself in society as still his wife, and filing joint tax returns with him. Her brother had his own place, where she did not live and there’s no reason to believe she even visited.

    diver64 in reply to LB1901. | December 3, 2023 at 4:01 am

I’ve not heard that allegation or seen any evidence that was happening. It was a marriage of convenience only to get around immigration.

Anyone who cares about free expression should be concerned.

If Muslims were in power free expression would be illegal.

If elected conservative officials did what the squad did, there would be cries of the government trying to overreach into private businesses.
