DeSantis, Newsom to Debate on November 30

DeSantis, Newsom to Debate on November 30

November 30 on Hannity’s TV show.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) will debate each other on November 30.

Why? Who knows. You’d think DeSantis would concentrate on winning the primary:

The debate, which will air on Fox during Hannity’s 9 p.m. prime-time program, will take place Nov. 30, the network announced.

The event will run 90 minutes and take place at location that has still yet to be determined but will be in Georgia.

In a statement issued through the network, Hannity said he is “looking forward to providing viewers with an informative debate about the everyday issues and governing philosophies that impact the lives of every American.”

@gonzotx. Why don’t you just head on over to truthsocial.com and post your one-liners. I hear they are all Only Trumper, Anti-DeSantis over there. I think you’d be much happier there. Really, much happier. So why not mosey on over, get an account. And leave the adults here to have an intelligent conversation.M’Kay?

You know G it’s quite possible to like both Trump and DeathSantis at the same time.

I think they would both be great Presidents and would love to see two terms of DeathSantis after Trumps second term.

And before you say it, for a guy supposedly controlled by big business DeathSantis has done amazing work to protect Floridas children from Democrats who want to fuck them.

The only joke is your absolute and unwavering support for Trump and apparent intolerance for any and all favorable points related to his primary opponents.

The fact is, while some people may believe that this debate with Newsom is a distraction from his effort to win the primary, it potentially provides a very public forum in which he will show that he knows how to counter liberal/Leftist talking points and policies. DeSantis has shown the ability to answer tough questions with serious and substantive facts, and it is arguable the he has done so with more skill than his opponents, including Trump.

Ghostrider in reply to ChrisPeters. | September 25, 2023 at 5:04 pm

Don’t worry, Trump’s campaign manager is locked in his basement office feverishly trying to figure out how he can have the Donald upstage the entire FL vs CA debate event.

They could have Trump show up outside the event center passing out pizza and Diet Coke to people. Or, rent the building next door to host his own side show.

The bottom line is I am bored and disgusted with politics and politicians alike.

Apparently he’s doing g. Wry well, seeing as The Don is ahead by about 50

Trump wouldn’t fare well in a debate with DeSantis. Like it or not, DeSantis has a much better command of the facts and is more disciplined in terms of keeping to them, rather than personal insults and childish name calling.

          JohnSmith100 in reply to gonzotx. | September 25, 2023 at 8:51 pm

Only childish people react to insults.

“Trump wouldn’t fare well in a debate with DeSantis.”

Famous last words. Debating is not only about facts, Performance and impressions also matter. Trump seems quite disciplined, perhaps more than DeSantis, in pursuing his agenda, which is simply to be himself. Authenticity. That includes the “childish” name calling, as if that really matters how?

healthguyfsu in reply to gonzotx. | September 25, 2023 at 10:35 pm

Lol. Trump reacts to insults and even perceived slights so that makes him childish by your own rules.

So what? Strange that this is so very important to so many people. There’s no human right not to be offended. It’s like mean tweets. As if no other powerful person has faults or a thin skin. Sorry, with all the other things going on, this is a grain of salt.

Yep. Just as the democrats want it as they want “The Don” to be the republican 2024 presidential nominee. And when the actual election happens that support will just disappear in the wind as it never really existed in the first place. Just like Trump’s failed 2020 election attempt. The democrats played him in 2020 and are playing him now.

The worst part? We’ll have to listen to another four years of tRump’s whining about how the election was stolen from him again. How disgusting is that.

        Replying to oldschooltwentysix:

“Trump seems quite disciplined, perhaps more than DeSantis, in pursuing his agenda, which is simply to be himself. Authenticity.”

That’s not an “agenda.” That’s a personality, and I’m being generous even calling it that. I want to know what SPECIFIC PLANS Trump has. What is he going to do for the country? How will he manage to accomplish those goals?

Trump, like anyone else running for office, is a job applicant. He’s hired help. His personality of “authenticity” doesn’t matter to me one gawddammed bit.

Nathan Shiba in reply to gonzotx. | September 25, 2023 at 6:26 pm

I don’t understand. Why is it a joke that DeSantis is willing to debate Newsom? That seems exactly like the conversation that conservatives want.

Frezz in the hizzy in reply to Nathan Shiba. | September 26, 2023 at 7:20 am

I like Trump and DeS both. They’re both the fighters we need.

There is certainly value in seeing how DeS faces off against their best, that slick thimblerigger himself.

DeS is smart and principled, but I think he’s got some room to improve in style. He’s not smooth, but kinda breathy and nerdy in his delivery. That shit matters and the thimblerigger might teach him a lesson in that area.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to gonzotx. | September 25, 2023 at 6:30 pm

To be fair, I support DeSantis in this, he is where he belongs.

    diver64 in reply to gonzotx. | September 26, 2023 at 3:46 am

Agreed. Why in the heck would anyone want to watch this and what is DeSantis doing? Why platform Gov Hairgel in the first place? He is not a declared candidate for anything and I can’t remember when 2 random governors had a national debate on anything. What are we to gain from this.

Evil Otto in reply to diver64. | September 26, 2023 at 7:38 am

Do you think Newsom doesn’t have presidential ambitions? He’s talked a lot of smack about Florida, and knocking him down before he even sets foot in the ring is good strategy. And it shows that DeSantis isn’t scared of a fight.

Stuytown in reply to gonzotx. | September 26, 2023 at 12:04 pm

My rules for voting in the primary election:

    Not voting for:
    1) anyone who helped elect John Fetterman
    2) anyone who helped elect Ralph Warnock
    3) anyone who lost an election to a man who never left his basement.

The only reason Newsom will do this ‘debate’ is he has a number of “Bold, authoritative statements” that he plans on using during political ads, or as we like to call them “outright lies.” DeSantis will undoubtedly feel like he’s playing chess with a pigeon.

I wasn’t going to click on the headline when I saw it because who cares? But then I thought – No, really. Who cares?

Left wing hair gel meets right wing hair gel.

Good opportunity for both to gain public exposure and be able to go one on one. Newsom gets his moment to have a compare and contrast with Biden (in terms of being lucid anyway). DeSantis gets to debate the issues of the day with a major d/prog figure on national TV in a one on one format instead of an overcrowded debate stage.

It should move entertaining at the very least even if nothing real comes of it

    txvet2 in reply to Ironclaw. | September 25, 2023 at 4:39 pm

In fact, this could be beneficial for both of them. DeSantis can get a chance to make his case outside of that ridiculous “debate” format, and Newsom can make a case for why there should be Democrat debates with him included – not that I think there’s any chance that the Biden camp would agree, but it’s entirely possible that Kennedy might. Besides, it’ll give him a chance to make excuses for the absolute garbage dump that is now California.

Frezz in the hizzy in reply to Ironclaw. | September 26, 2023 at 7:35 am

No doubt, the thimblerigger will dissemble better than any CNN talking head, and DeS will be going for the jugular.

Given Newsom has nothing to run on what exactly is the point of him doing this other than to bloviate for an hour or two?!?

Can’t say he’s done anything for protecting children from groomers.

Got nothing positive to talk about around the environment he’s fostered for business.

Crime is out of control.

Violent crime is fucking out of control.

What’s the point?

I think they should just get a room.

I don’t see how this accomplishes anything. except giving Newsom credibility when they try to slip him in as a replacement for Biden when his decrepitude becomes too great to ignore.

It seems DeSantis is now getting so desperate to gain some sort of relevancy that he is willing to help Democrats out.

Why? Who knows. It’s kinda like DeSantis punching down. It’s a bad look.

Then, again, Nov. 30th in eons away in politic time. By then, FJB could be in a nursing home, Trump in prison, and Newsom will be fellating Big Mike to join him on the Dem ticket.

When’s that super volcano set to erupt?

I suspect this is the uniparty test case to see if they can get their dream match up.

Newsom will obviously say or do anything that the party bosses tell him to do. In a two way race against an establishment or perceived establishment GOP candidate I think he wins. A lot of conservative and populist voters don’t trust DeSantis (or most of the other GOP candidates based on past experience).

DeSantis in my opinion has done a good job in Florida. However, whether it was the Rove campaign management or donor pressure he made a big mistake by jumping into the campaign so quickly. Whether by intent or by circumstance he was hailed as the GOP alternative to Trump, I doubt that many of the blue collar and middle class Democrats and traditional conservate or populist voters that voted for Trump who were responsible for his 2016 victory would vote for DeSantis as a result of his real or suspected ties to the establishment king makers.

However, time heals all wounds and in 2028 he might be viable if he can convince conservative and populist voters that he will remain loyal to them and not to party bosses and donors. If he avoids the consultants who want to package him as the anyone but Trump candidate he still has options.

This pisses me off to no end and you are all missing the point.

Newsom should be debating Biden and THAT should be televised.

Why is no one asking why THAT isn’t happening? Are they going to hide Biden in a basement again- DURING his presidency?

Why doesn’t DeSantis just take some pins out of grenades and juggle down the streets of Samolia? Jesus H Christ— you let the other guy make unforced errors…. you don’t go hunting those out for yourself. Him and Trump could film a movie and call it Dumb and Dumber.

This is Republican stupidity at its worst. They cannot stand winning. Newsome wants to run for President but has no way to gin up enough national exposure so the RNC comes up with a way to give it to him. No matter how this stupid debate turns out, Jim Acosta and the rest of the low life media are going to report that Newsome won. The low information voters who watch The Voice or something equivalent are going to believe it. What does DeSantis gain from this? Nothing.

Unless moderated by Jerry Springer’s lost son, would prefer a debate between two governor’s not interested in being the next president, as proponents for their states, not themselves. This seems like infotainment.

“little g” just mad that this won’t be all about Trump

This is good news. More publicity for DeSantis and without having to share a stage and time with a pack of candidates.

Newsome is extremely good at sticking to his talking points and party line, even with irrefutable evidence to the contrary being right in his face. He simply deflects and lies again, but he is really, really cool and smooth about it.
