Trump: ‘No Indication’ Given of Impending Indictment During DOJ Meeting

“No indication of notice was given during the meeting — Do not trust the Fake News on anything!”

The news is littered with speculation that Trump is about to face another indictment.

Trump says otherwise:

My attorneys had a productive meeting with the DOJ this morning, explaining in detail that I did nothing wrong, was advised by many lawyers, and that an Indictment of me would only further destroy our Country. No indication of notice was given during the meeting — Do not trust the Fake News on anything!

A CNN article with seven contributors claims a federal indictment “looms” over Trump:

In seeking a meeting with Smith’s team, Trump’s lawyers hoped to at least delay any potential plans for the grand jury to hand up an indictment Thursday, people briefed on the plans said.

Another source familiar with the legal team’s thinking tells CNN they also expected to discuss the logistics of how a potential indictment and arraignment of the former president would work.

NBC said the same thing. Sources told the outlet that Trump’s lawyers “were told to expect an indictment.”

The Hill claims Trump is bracing for a third indictment.

If they indict in DC over J6, the objective will be to jail Trump without bond – just as all other J6 defendants were/are.

The left is stupid but I can’t see them being that stupid. Nor could I see a judge wanting to put their name on the order that jails a former POTUS without bond. That would be a huge unforced error on their part if they did it.

    1. It makes him an even bigger martyr.
    2. It really highlights what has happened to the rest of the J6 people who are still stuck in jail.
    3. It really drives home that this is a political prosecution. Not for us since all of us are political junkies but for the people who blithely go through their days not paying any attention to what’s going on in the country. This will be a big red flag just waved right in their face.
    4. It’s going to ratchet up the pressure in the country.

If they do arrest him I can see him getting bail or even getting no bail. He’s not going to run to another country.

The goal is to convict him on a bullcrap charge and use that as an excuse to demand that he be removed from the ballot because ‘nobody is above the law’.

And swamp RINOs like McConnell, Romney and their whole crew will go along with it.

That’s the endgame here, to simply remove Trump from the ballot.

        Oli,

They don’t need a conviction. All the Democrat media needs is a trial so they can poison the well with endless negative stories 24/7 right through the campaign window up to the election.

All the low information voters will hear is trump, trump, trump, on trial for stealing secrets endlessly across the airwaves.

All the Democrat media is doing is replacing their previous Russia hoax with a new hoax they can endlessly peddle to influence the election.

Never underestimate the stupidity of people in large groups. The Left is going to push this right up to the point where it explodes, then back up a half-step, wait a few weeks, then start pushing again. The tipping point will be when reasonable Dems (and there are a few of them) see just exactly what kind of precedent they are setting and go public with their concerns. I mean we never thought the Left would go this far without serious kickback, raiding the former President’s home, filing criminal charges against him for actions taken while he was President, filing state criminal charges in a political jurisdiction where he’s certain to be convicted no matter how feeble the actual evidence is, etc…

the left don’t have to worry about being stupid, they have corrupt judges to correct their mistakes

      1. Is a positive for them. A certain subset of the “right” will cling ever tighter while the remainder of the electorate will further distance themselves.

Leaks are for the sole purpose of rigging a fair trial.

Smith is committing felonies with these leaks. Don’t hold your breath expecting anything to happen, though.

    What leak?

If it was against the law for a defendant/suspect to discuss their case with media and the prosecutor involved would be personally responsible we would have Romania’s pre-charge detention system.

Danny boy the pipes are calling…

Of course it’s not ‘impending’.

They’re going to draw it out and try and spring it next year.

Danny in reply to Olinser. | July 28, 2023 at 2:01 pm

You do realize the prosecutors are arguing for a quick trial while Trump’s lawyers are arguing for delay right? But whatever fake reality floats your boat.

Gee, how did that rumor get started?

    mailman in reply to txvet2. | July 27, 2023 at 6:22 pm

And just like that, it’s Trumps fault 😂😂😂

      txvet2 in reply to mailman. | July 27, 2023 at 8:15 pm

And just like that, quoting Trump. You’re right. It’s Trump’s big mouth starting rumors.

CommoChief in reply to mailman. | July 28, 2023 at 11:32 am

      ‘….it’s Trump’s fault’.

If you mean it’s his fault for issuing a statement which was proven false then you are correct.

Glad to see you are beginning to understand that Trump’s public statements and promises are less than accurate and he doesn’t feel bound to honor them. See the missing border wall which he deliberately chose NOT to invoke his VETO power over in order to shed Ryan and McConnell scurrying back to Capital Hill to secure the required funding.

Trump is responsible for what he does and importantly for what he promises but fails to deliver. In this case he implied no additional charges or any additional indictment was near. As he might say, WRONG.

Going after the maintenance man. Unbelieveable.

Any possible indictment is what Obama would call “a distraction” from the Hunter Biden plea bargain fiasco
