Strange Disappearance of Carlee Russell in Alabama Appears to be a Hoax

“Russell vanished Thursday night after calling 911 to report spotting a toddler on an interstate in Alabama.”

https://youtu.be/Zegreuavojs

A young woman named Carlee Russell called 911 in Alabama late at night last week, claiming that she saw a toddler walking down the highway. She then disappeared for two days before returning to the home she shares with her parents sharing an elaborate story about what happened to her.

The details are not adding up and people now suspect it was a hoax.

CBS News has the basic details:

Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell, a 25-year-old nursing student who went missing for two days, told police she’d been abducted, but police have not found any evidence of a crime, officials in Alabama said Wednesday…

Russell vanished Thursday night after calling 911 to report spotting a toddler on an interstate in Alabama. Russell returned home two days later and the incident gained national attention. She gave a brief statement to police when she returned home, but officers did not press for details out of respect for Russell and her family…

Russell told police a man had come out of the woods and mumbled that he was checking on the child, Derzis said. She told officers the man then picked her up and forced her over a fence and into a car.

Russell said the next thing she remembers is being in the trailer of a truck with the man, who she said had orange hair, and a woman. She also said could hear a baby crying.

Russell told police she escaped, but was recaptured and put into a car and blindfolded. She said she wasn’t tied up, adding that her alleged captors said they didn’t want to leave impressions on her wrists.

Russell said she was then taken to a house, where she was undressed. She said she believes that photos were taken of her. The next day, she said, the woman fed her cheese crackers and played with her hair.

One of the most troubling aspects of the story is that Russell did some very specific internet searches before any of this happened.

AL.com reported:

July 11:

At 7:30 a.m. on July 11, two days before Russell disappeared, she searched the term “Do you have to pay for an amber alert.”

July 13:

At 1:03 a.m. on the day of her disappearance, Russell searched the term “How to take money from register without getting caught Reddit” was searched. At 2:13 a.m. that same day, the term “Birmingham bus station” was searched.

Then, at 2:35 a.m., a search for a one-way bus ticket from Birmingham to Nashville was conducted. At 12:10 p.m., Russell did a search for the movie ‘Taken.’

Here are some Twitter reactions:

If it was a hoax, as it appears to be, the motive is not clear.

Authorities in Alabama are still investigating the incident.

If she faked it, she’s apparently nuts, or a degenerate looking for attention.

    Not nuts.

Just a moron that thinks she’s far smarter than she actually is.

Seems like she robbed the business she worked for and concocted this ludicrous kidnapping story to try and cover it, and was stupid enough to think they wouldn’t see right through her RIDICULOUS story.

Why should this be called a hoax? It was another malicious con by a POS. I have spent enough time around blacks to know that doing time is considered to some sort of credentials, conferring status in the hood. To discourage this there needs to be humiliation. Perhaps public whipping like in Hong Kong, Or be on public display in stocks, where people are allowed to pelt them with rotten stuff? Incarceration is expensive and has not worked well, in fact placing young offenders with more hardened criminals has been detrimental. These are people who really hate disrespect, and I think would respond better to public humiliations than incarceration..

Wow thank God we have a resident expert on black people who’s “spent time” around them. Can’t wait to read your dissertation from your extensive fieldwork.

At least it’s not some race hoax.

Yes, and thank goodness no bears were involved.

caseoftheblues in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | July 20, 2023 at 6:17 am

Wait for it…. they are already trying to turn it into a black victimhood story…. see MAYBE her story wasnt real BUT thousands of black women are missing and are ignored… next step she is a hero trying to bring attention to their plight….

Another setback for ‘#Believe all women’.

Women, like men, are human beings and therefore flawed, some more than others. No one should be believed on the basis of their sex or gender alone. Every allegation requires proof beyond someone’s unsubstantiated claims.

There are some, IMO, disturbed folks who seek unhealthy validation on line from strangers. Others seek to monetize their 15 minutes. A few create their own 15 minutes of fame. A fraction combine these aspects into a sad little scam of lies which almost always unravel.

    some more than others
Ain’t that the truth. But it’s greater than 0 for everyone, as you state.

Agreed, none of us is perfect. All of us are subject to allowing human emotions and human desires to overwhelm our better judgement. Some more susceptible than others.

Martin in reply to CommoChief. | July 20, 2023 at 10:08 am

    Trust but verify.
If someone reports abuse don’t ignore them but don’t assume they are telling the truth. Investigate then deal with the results of the investigation. If the person is providing a provable false report they should be hit with the same penalties as the person they lied about.
I know that is not current law but it should be.

CommoChief in reply to Martin. | July 20, 2023 at 2:07 pm

Yep. Everyone who files a police report is, IMO, far more credible than someone who refuses to do so b/c they have opened themselves up to criminal charges if caught lying to LEO. Still that doesn’t, in of itself, close the sale; see Jussie Smollett.

Desire to find events of racism exceeds actual racism by a factor than even a Cray computer can’t evaluate.

Orange hair… hmmm

Orange hair…. Who do we know that has orange hair and is married , and maybe has a spare grandchild to Trot down the road…

Orange hair…. Hmm

Aw, come on. We’re all dying to know what they found at the cash register where she worked.

Nursing student

Must have done bad in some tests and needed an out

Lots of Affirmative Action nurses these days

Lots from Nigeria… interesting enough

Nigeria average IQ 84, more like LPN material.

I had the same thought. She claimed another Hombre Naranja Malo took her captive.

      retiredcantbefired in reply to JohnSmith100. | July 20, 2023 at 11:44 am

How many Nigerians have ever taken an IQ test?

gonzotx in reply to JR. | July 21, 2023 at 12:52 pm

They stick together, you hire one Nigerian and by the next year your Unit is 75%

gonzotx in reply to gonzotx. | July 21, 2023 at 12:57 pm

Kind of like the 7/11 ownership

          Lots of Middle Easterns

They get a good paying gig and here come the relatives

It’s not dumb, it’s a successful model but it happens so quick under our immigration “laws”

I say laws lol, what laws?

Thad Jarvis in reply to JohnSmith100. | July 20, 2023 at 4:12 pm

Most Nigerian immigrants in the US are highly educated and successful and could likely buy and sell a racist clod like you any day.

      gonzotx in reply to JohnSmith100. | July 21, 2023 at 12:51 pm

But I have worked with lots of Nigerian RN’s

And literally had to walk them through all the yearly requirements

I had a lot of mixed feelings on that

gonzotx in reply to gonzotx. | July 21, 2023 at 1:05 pm

        I figured, second language, hard
I’m dyslexic amd have horrible times with it
But, I wouldn’t try to get a job When everything is written in Russian then

I feared of the mistakes they would make and no one would know because it’s actually easy to cover up most

        But that’s a projection

I don’t think Nigerian nurses or doctors account for the 275,000 deaths by “mistakes” per year

Lots of mistakes by everyone unfortunately

Lots of stress comes with heavy patient overloads.

I made a couple in 40 years of nursing, lucky they did no harm, but I have seen some disasters.

Nurses lose their license easily actually, it’s the Drs, they get less serious repercussions I believe, at least that was the disruption while I was practicing

        Don’t know now

Well, I guess you could lose your license for RX ivermectin!!!

Thad Jarvis in reply to gonzotx. | July 20, 2023 at 4:10 pm

What an incredible leap of logic.

AF_Chief_Master_Sgt | July 19, 2023 at 11:21 pm

Asking for a friend.

“Russell said she was then taken to a house, where she was undressed. She said she believes that photos were taken of her.”

Does anyone think that Carly Russell has some recent photos of her in the buff that she is now ashamed of… and is looking for a plausible way to cover her tail (literally and figuratively)?

And how do they undress you if you’re unwilling? At least without a lot of damage to your clothing (or you)? How do they keep you where you are if they don’t tie you up in some way?

She seems entirely too passive through the whole thing.

      AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to GWB. | July 20, 2023 at 11:04 am

We must “BELIEVE ALL WOMEN,” no matter how unbelievable their story is.

      😏

This may not be a racist kidnapping hoax, but it smells fishy.

Unfortunately that comes from a time and place where literally they either didn’t care or didn’t believe women on most things, especially sexual

I was raped at age 20, there was a butcher knife involved, my hand was mangled and my tissue was in that knife that the police found

Yet, dead God they wanted me to drop the charges, nice guy, good family, only reason it went forward was because the asst DA we went in front of was a friend of mine

But even with that, he got indecent exposure

He knifed me, raped and beat me and he got indecent exposure…

          AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to gonzotx. | July 24, 2023 at 8:59 pm

          Update July 24.

          So sorry for your ordeal.

But that does not make BELIEVE ALL WOMEN mandatory.

As of this comment, it was proven that ALL of Carlee’s allegations were a lie.

I don’t believe we need to go back to the days of requiring women to have four witnesses to attest to any wrong doing. However, we should hold the same standard for men and women.

      not_a_lawyer in reply to GWB. | July 21, 2023 at 3:16 pm

Shee said she was blindfolded but did not have her hands tied. Huh?

All the makings of a future Whitehouse Press Secretary.

This is sounding like the next Tawana Brawley case.

🦇💩

I watch OP Live and it was featured on their ‘Missing’ segment. Curious to see how they handle the good news of her return. The show also introduced me to a new agency called BAMFI which, by its very existence, further tries to separate us as Americans. I have learned to ignore ANYTHING with black as part of its title so the separation attempt is working. Since I’m not black, I can’t contribute anything.

Strange disappearance?

Strange reappearance, too!

So Carlee Russell lied about being kidnapped? Unfortunate to hear but there’s still about 13,000 black women who are really missing in the U.S who have had little to no coverage & need help. Let’s talk about it

I don’t know where he is getting these numbers, but who cares? Why must EVERYTHING be reduced to race? Annually approximately 600k go missing across the entire United States, and approximately 90% of those missing persons are found before the year end. Are we going to prioritize searches for missing persons based on race, or treat all missing persons equally?

We need to call this Trevor Jacob Syndrome in the spirit of Munchausen’s. There are attention whores (anyone on TikTok) and then there is this special class where the fabrications never seem to stop as they dig in deeper and deeper into what was an obvious scam of sorts from the get-go.

I’m curious. Is it now considered “cultural appropriation” if a non-black person engages in a public hoax which they falsely appear to be the victim?

It’s clear the fault lies with the imaginary toddler.
