German Climate Militants Glue Themselves to Airport Runways and Roads in Nationwide Disruptive Protest

Die Welt newspaper: “Climate activists of the Last Generation disrupted traffic in several German cities by blockading key routes.”

German motorists and air travelers face massive disruptions as climate activists glue themselves to roads and airport runways. The nationwide campaign has been launched by the climate-extremist group “Last Generation,” which has staged similar protests in Germany and other European countries.

“Climate activists of the Last Generation disrupted traffic in several German cities by blockading key routes. In cities such as Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden and Braunschweig, the protesters glued themselves to the road on Friday,” German newspaper Die Welt reported Friday. “According to the Last Generation, at least 36 sit-ins have been planned in 26 cities across Germany.”

Much like such protests in the past, the climate agitation resulted in road accidents, Die Welt further reported:

A motorist in Nuremberg was injured during a traffic jam as a result of a blockade of Autobahn-73. According to the police, the 31-year-old failed to see the trailer of a truck in time [as he approached] the traffic jam and was trapped with his vehicle under the trailer. The police did not provide initial information on the extent of the injuries.

An 18-year-old activist from the “Last Generation” was reportedly hurt early morning at a roadblock in Bottrop. According to her statement, she got injured when she was dragged off the road by a man, a police spokeswoman said. According to the police, the traffic was significantly impacted for a while.

Climate activists breach airports, disrupt holiday goers

On Thursday, climate militants glued themselves to the airport runways in Hamburg and Düsseldorf disrupting the air traffic as holiday season begins in Germany.

“At the beginning of the holiday season in Hamburg, the climate activists of the ‘Last Generation’ glued themselves on to the tarmac at the (city) airport and disrupted air traffic operations for several hours,” German public broadcaster Tagesschau reported Thursday. “In Düsseldorf, the members of the ‘Last Generation’ also glued themselves at the airport. According to their own statement, the activists cut through a fence to get to the apron of the airfield.”

Germany’s state-owned DW TV reported the group’s hysterical protest in Berlin on Friday:

Activists from Germany’s Last Generation (Letzte Generation) climate protest group protested at one of Berlin’s most iconic intersections during the morning rush hour on Friday, with other actions planned across the city and the rest of Germany.

The campaigners, who claim the government has broken its own laws on climate change, wore masks depicting senior politicians.

Activists took to the roundabout around the city’s Victory Column — regularly used as a stage for weekend climate protests — and glued themselves to roads leading from it.

The so-called Grosser Stern (Great Star) intersection is a key rush-hour hub. Some motorists drove off the road to avoid the protesters and continue their journeys. Traffic resumed fully about an hour after the sit-in began.

Some activists posed government figures including Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Economics and Climate Change Minister Robert Habeck, and Transport Minister Volker Wissing. They held banners that read: “We’re breaking the law.”

Karlsruhe: Driver rolls over glued activist

In southern German city of Karlsruhe, the protest almost turned bloody when a car rolled over the hand of a glued activist, causing slight injuries. “As a car tried to drive past, it ran over the activist’s hand. According to a witness, she also hit her head on the car. The car fled and the activist received medical attention,” the German public broadcaster SWR reported.

The German police are now looking for the driver. “When asked by SWR, the ‘Last Generation’ said that the activist was doing well. The police are on the look-out for the car,” the broadcaster added.

The Europe-based Last Generation, which also has a U.S. chapter, purports to be the “last generation” of humans on earth. The cult-like group makes hysterical claims about the future. On their homepage, the Last Generation quotes UN chief António Guterres: “We have the choice: Collective action or collective suicide.” Humanity “still have two to three years in which we can leave the fossil-fuel path of annihilation,” the group prophesies.

The group, with its ever increasing militancy, is becoming a serious security threat to Germany. In May, German police conducted raids against the members of the outfit. “The raids were ordered in an investigation targeting seven people aged 22 to 38 over suspicions of ‘forming or supporting a criminal organisation’, said a joint statement by Bavaria’s police and prosecutors,” the TV channel France24 reported in May 24. “Fifteen properties were searched, two accounts seized and an asset freeze ordered.”

I’m not sure that I see a problem. Simply get a few policemen and pull the person until whatever’s left of the hand is removed from the runway or road surface. I’d assume that the skin will yield before the hand/arm comes off. May be painful, but hey, they asked for it.

The “activists” assume the risk of harsh treatment when they try to inconvenience hundreds (thousands?) of their fellow citizens. Not every action requires due process. Remove them from the dangerous situation first and worry about how much to fine them or imprison them later. They intend to steal time from others–why are they owed deference?

After the first several “activists” are moved, the others may re-think their anti-social strategy. Actions have consequences.

It’s quicker to just chop the hands off and leave them on the road as a warning.

    Problem:moron’s hand glued to runway.Solution:amputate moron’s hand.Result:moron learns a tough lesson.

I don’t know. I think they’re learning a tough lesson as it is. Just listen to the guy scream like a child when authorities literally attempt to chisel his hand off the runway . . . guess he really didn’t think ahead about what would happen after he permanently epoxied his hands to the runway. Deserves everything he’s going to get. That’s for sure.

Your solution would make a great exam question for an engineering Strength of Materials course…And for an Engineering Economic Course. Calculate the cost of lost labor and burned fuel due to their ecoterrorism.

fscarn in reply to Disgusted. | July 15, 2023 at 7:36 pm

My solution: workers cut out of the asphalt a chunk, approximately a 12″ by 12″ by 6″ deep. Police take the clown along with his attached chunk away, arrest him, book him, let him make bail and give him a future court date. Workers fill in the hole. Let the clown deal with his new chunk on his own.

That is a good idea, or how about taking a can of expanding foam and a length of hose, insert in back end.

    diver64 in reply to Disgusted. | July 16, 2023 at 6:55 am

This would indeed all stop if they just ripped the hands of these freaks off the road. If the activist terrorists are serious they won’t mind having the skin in the game. As for the motorist that clipped one of the nuts and the police are looking for, I hope its to give the motorist a medal. Applause to the guy that got out of his car and dragged the nut off into a ditch.

What’s wrong with a filet knife? Any chef that can skin a fish can free a hand from pavement in just a few seconds. Film the process and post it as a “government service announcement”.

ConradCA in reply to Disgusted. | July 16, 2023 at 5:31 pm

This is a good idea to keep control of these terrorists. Glue them to 2 by 4s so they can’t escape.

“Why are you gluing yourselves to the road?”

“So that when we get run over by a car and die it will prove we were the last generation.”

“Well, that would be death by auto, not climate.”

“So?”

Pink pants

Word

Perhaps homeboy would be interested in volunteering for service in Ukraine? If not maybe sending these these folks not as volunteers but as volun-told would reduce repeat offenders? IOW throw their ass into a plane and drop them off. They really shouldn’t mind, after all war is a huge generator of pollution and Russia is a huge energy producer so they can take direct action to fight it. Win, win for everyone.

murkyv in reply to gonzotx. | July 16, 2023 at 3:01 am

    Polyester pink pants, to boot

    And rubber soled shoes

      diver64 in reply to murkyv. | July 16, 2023 at 6:56 am

if i remember right, gasoline dissolves polyester. just douse them in gas, let the clothing dissolve and leave them naked in the sun for a few hours

        Edward in reply to diver64. | July 16, 2023 at 9:22 am

Now that I’m thinking of it, these people aren’t all that dedicated. Now the Buddhists in Viet Nam back in the 60s were dedicated and should be a lesson for these people. Douse yourself with gasoline and light up. THAT would stop traffic for quite a while.

ConradCA in reply to Edward. | July 16, 2023 at 6:08 pm

Gasoline is a solvent that should weaken the glue. If you do it in the hottest part of the day it will burn the while evaporating.

This is a category of moron that practically demands an improper adjective in front of the word to properly define them.

Rock beats scissors, angle grinder beats chains, nail polish remover beats glue.

Milwaukee tools sells a battery powered Sawsall in Europe, as does Bosch and Makita.

Fight glue with glue. Glue obscene cartoons of the prophet Muhammad on these immobilized climate infidels and set the Islamic refugees on them.

henrybowman in reply to E Howard Hunt. | July 16, 2023 at 1:30 am

My usual first thought is that this is not going to stop until passers-by zip down and pee on them. But in this case it’s in Germany, and that would probably be a perverse incentive to promote it.

CommoChief in reply to henrybowman. | July 16, 2023 at 11:55 am

I can personally attest that German young woman are definitely on the kinky side v more straight laced American young women. Some of it was too much for this simple country boy.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to E Howard Hunt. | July 16, 2023 at 8:07 am

Notice how we have someone who objects to anyone who understands that Muhammad was a looting, raping, murdering, pedophile?

      ConradCA in reply to JohnSmith100. | July 16, 2023 at 5:48 pm

The truth is that Islam is a religion of war where their prophet ordered people to wage war on the unbelievers and that is what they did for 500 years.

Would leave them there, allow no one to get near or supply them until they cried uncle. Then throw them a knife to get themselves out of it.
They are mentally unstable or brainwashed and it’s growing it looks.

How about burning tires upwind of these fools every time they glue themselves to the highway? They will be responsible for, and breathing new pollution.

GWB in reply to Dimsdale. | July 17, 2023 at 11:09 am

Why go upwind? The South Africans showed us they’re much more effective when they’re wrapped around the breathing orifice.

The best response would be for a large group to circle the nuts, mask up, then the people in the center closest rip them off the pavement, break a few bones, then quietly and orderly return to their vehicles.

Didn’t see a thing officer. And everyone was masked.

Letting their inner Nazi run free. Can’t help themselves. Really you gotta feel for them. So few outlets for their Fascist longings they have to stretch for stuff like this.

Nothing beats a useful idiot unless its a club.

Nothing a truck and a chain can’t fix.

“You glued yourself to the road/runway? Congratulations. See that truck/airplane? It’s coming through here in two minutes. Your move.”

If it weren’t for the really bad effects that hitting something the size and density of a human body can do to aircraft surfaces, landing gear, and engines, I’d agree.

Land vehicles, OTOH, just need to get beefier tires and maybe jack the suspension up a bit….

We can’t risk giving government the power they claim to need in order to fight Global Warming. Our government would become a fascist tyranny if we did. We are better off dealing with the consequences of Global Warming if any.

According to her statement, she got injured when she was dragged off the road by a man
Obviously not hurt enough, since there’s nothing about her deciding never to do that again.

I say hook a chain around them and pull them off the road/runway. None of this solvent stuff. Nature, red in tooth and claw is what they want? Let them have it. Right now. Make it HURT. A lot. Throw them in prison – and let them not have any of the benefits of fossil fuels there.

Only then will we see this carp stop.

I’ve noticed they no longer seem to be sticking their arms through 55 gallon drums filled with concrete. Did someone start prosecuting them for terrorism or something? Or did someone finally do as I advocated and start end-over-ending the barrels out of the road with the eco-terrorists still chained in them?

Can someone research this? Because the new tactics seem less… committed.
