Ex-Energy Official Sam Brinton was on Tax-Payer Funded Secret Trip at Time of Luggage Theft
How about we vet people for high positions in government instead of relying on diversity?
Watchdog group Functional Government Initiative (FGI) revealed that the non-binary ex-Energy official Sam Brinton traveled to Las Vegas on a secret trip funded by taxpayers.
The trip coincided with the luggage theft case at the Harry Reid International Airport.
Yes, the same luggage theft case that Brinton pleaded no contest to in April.
According to the documents, Brinton — who made headlines last year after being appointed to be the deputy assistant secretary of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition at the DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy as a non-binary gender-fluid person — traveled to the Nevada National Security Site for an unspecified meeting and site visit.
The DOE states that the Nevada National Security Site “is a preferred location for experiments supporting the National Nuclear Security Administration’s nuclear weapons Stockpile Stewardship Programs, national defense programs, and national security research, development and training programs, as well as vital programs of other federal agencies.”
In addition to arriving on July 6, 2022, Brinton stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club on the Las Vegas Strip and departed on July 9, 2022. Overall, the total cost of the four-day trip was estimated to be $1,951.50, a DOE expense report filed in August 2022 showed.
A camera at the airport caught Brinton with the stolen suitcase.
The bag had “jewelry valued at $1,700, clothing worth $850 and makeup valued at $500.”
Brinton faced a felony grand larceny charge. After pleading no contest, the court ordered Brinton to pay $3,670.74 and gave him 180 days suspended jail term.
Diversity is too important to the Biden administration:
“It’s outrageous that tax dollars transported Brinton to and from the scene of a crime, putting the American public unwittingly at the wheel of the getaway car,” FGI spokesperson Peter McGinnis said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“The federal government obviously needs a more stringent vetting process for senior-level positions,” McGinnis added. “Senior officials committing petty crime while on the clock is a clear indication that something is dysfunctional in the personnel procedures.”
Brinton faced jail time over another luggage theft claim. Instead, Bronton agreed to undergo “a mental health evaluation, write a letter of apology to the victim, return any stolen property and complete three days of community service.”
In May, authorities arrested Brinton over allegations of luggage theft in DC after Tanzanian fashion designer Asya Khamsin accused him of wearing her clothes.

It used to be called a Special Background Investigation and it was conducted by the FBI. That being said, the FBI doesn’t grant the clearance, they just do the investigation and make the report.
His superiors grant the clearance based on the report. If we keep electing/appointing superiors who care more about political agendas than national security we will continue to get these freaks.

I hope that non-democrats do not conclude that they can commit grand larceny and, if caught, get sentenced to returning the stolen items and a suspended jail stay.
I have an MS in Nuclear Engineering. This fellow, Sam Brinton, who earned his degree in Nuclear Engineering from MIT, is indubitably an intelligent fellow.
I have nothing against homosexuals.
However, when you start running around as an obvious male in a dress with lipstick and all the other external affectations of homosexuality or transsexualism, then the authorities in charge of vetting him for federal jobs with secret clearances need to take that into account.

Regardless of Mr. Brinton’s other credentials, training & experiences … to me, the obvious freak factor is disqualifying.
I’m impressed that the business trip cost the government LESS than the value of the goods that Brinton stole during the business trip. Now that’s the way to make your expense account work for you!
I suspect the amount quoted in the article is what he claimed in expenses. Not the cost of the flight, 4 nights in the Hilton, etc. which would have been arranged and paid for by the Dept.
What a administration where you can get travel expenses to steal luggage or threaten foreign governments for shakedowns
