A statue of Revolutionary War figure Philip Schuyler, considered a hero by many, has been removed from the city hall in Albany, NY, over charges that he owned slaves. Schuyler was also the father-in-law of Alexander Hamilton.

When this assault on American history began a few years ago, we were told that it was just about Confederates. That was a lie. In 2021, New York City removed a statue of Theodore Roosevelt. They also removed a statue of Thomas Jefferson from city hall.

The New York Post has the story on the Schuyler statue:

Century-old statue of Revolutionary War hero removed in NY over slavery

A nearly century-old statue of the Revolutionary War hero Gen. Philip Schuyler — one of Albany’s largest slave owners — was removed from outside city hall in the state capitol Saturday morning.

A moving crew took nearly three hours to haul the statue off its base and load it onto a trailer.

It’s now destined for an undisclosed storage facility until the city can decide what to do with it.

The removal cost about $40,000, according to NewsChannel 13 Albany.

The nine-foot depiction of Schuyler — who was a New York senator and the father-in-law of Alexander Hamilton — may also contain a time capsule with maps, coins, and other knick-knacks dating from its unveiling in 1925, the Albany Times Union reported.

Despite his prominence in American history, Schuyler came in for criticism after the death of George Floyd and the subsequent riots carried out around the country in 2020.

During his lifetime, he was one of the largest slaveowners in the city.

This is an excellent observation:

As I have pointed out repeatedly, Elihu Yale, the founder of Yale University was an active participant in the slave trade, yet the woke left never comes for him. Why do you suppose that is?

It’s because the progressive students who attend Yale want to be able to say that they attend Yale, not the Ivy League University of Connecticut.

Keep in mind, this is NOT just about doing away with the Founders and such. It’s not ever as much about offense, as it is about creating the Year Zero phenomenon, so that there is never a trail of truth against which “Progress” can be measured.

Leftists continuing to destroy institutions.

Perhaps he will be replaced by a statue of Jordan Neely, provided the Jackson estate is okay with representing him at his least-violent

To be consistent, they need to rename the village, county and a few hundred streets named after him.

It is just a matter of time before they eliminate Washington because he was a slave owner. According to Chrenow, Washington hated slaves because they required a lot of maintenance and were not very good workers.

At least Jefferson banged his and fathered a kid or two.

“At least Jefferson banged his and fathered a kid or two.”

That statement is simply repulsive and has nothing to do with removing statues, a serious concern.

Northern States…welcome to the party the Southern States have been dealing with for a while now. Prepare to have your statutes and historical monuments torn down/relocated, many of your prominent historical figures ‘cancelled’, your institutions upended with excessive levels of misdirected faux outrage that comes centuries too late, long after these figures are dead and buried.

I wonder how much filthy lucre the crane and building contractors got paid for hauling away our heritage. Shame on them! SHAME!

I’m a blue collar worker and would rather self-flagellate with a barbed cat-o-nine tails and then bathe in salt water than be involved in such scurrilous endeavor. The Ignominy!

They could’ve at least wore Guy Fawkes masks to hide their disgusting countenances. Blackguards!

The removal cost about $40,000, according to NewsChannel 13 Albany.

$40,000 to pull a statue off a pedestal and haul it away.

I wonder if the city used a minority owned company that had a majority of minority employees to remove the statute.

If Liberals were honest (LOL, I know) and wanted to abolish everything that was responsible for slavery in this country, they would start by abolishing the Democrat Party.

Absolutely!! But they have buried their past and projected it onto the Republicans.

Somewhere, Robert Byrd is smiling (among others)…

This is pure Marxism at its core:

The goal here is to eradicate the entire culture, so that the only thing children will ever experience is the new regime.

Anything that is not Marxist must be completely destroyed. Like it never existed.

Muslims do precisely the same thing, for the same reason, whenever they take power anywhere. They don’t just eradicate all other religions, they eradicate the entire culture that existed before them.

Muslims call it Jahiliyyah, the “period of pre-Islamic ignorance”. If it agrees with Islam it’s redundant and if it disagrees it’s heretical, either way all of it must be destroyed.

Awaiting the time when every public place has a statue of the blessed Saint George Floyd to be prominent and to act as a perpetual encouragement to us all to be quality citizens.

“Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.” -George Orwell, “1984.”

The analogies are palpable, as are the similarities to what Marxist in the past and now are doing.

Historians know that you can’t judge a person who lived a long time ago by today’s standards. And tearing down statues is the cancel culture at work.

Why the h— do we allow the minority to rule over us? Will we ever get enough and take to the streets (peacefully) to demand OUR rights and OUR history?
