Former U. Penn Swimmer Claims School Gave Girls No Choice About Competing With Trans Student Lia Thomas

“They [UPenn] continued to tell us that our opinions were wrong and if we had an issue with it we were the problem”

A female swimmer and former teammate of trans athlete Lia Thomas who appeared anonymously in the Matt Walsh film ‘What is a Woman?’ is now speaking out in person.

She returned to sit with Matt Walsh and divulged details about how the school handled the introduction of Thomas to the girls’ swim team. Her story does not make the school look like an honest player in this.

Townhall has details:

Former UPenn Swimmer Reveals Disturbing Details About Competing With Lia Thomas

This week, a woman who was teammates with Will “Lia” Thomas on the University of Pennsylvania’s women’s swim team appeared in an interview to break her silence about what she experienced competing and sharing a locker room with him…

Scanlan explained that she found out in the fall of 2019 that “Will” Thomas, one of the leaders of the men’s swim team, would be “transitioning to the women’s team” after taking hormone replacement therapy for a year. The women were never given their own, closed-door meeting ahead of time without Thomas in the room to raise their questions and concerns about the situation…

Regarding the locker room situation, Scanlan said that the school never spoke to the girls to inform them that they would be sharing a locker room with a male. She shared that she tried to avoid Thomas and “change as fast as possible.”

“It [the locker room] was uncomfortable. I did notice a few girls – there’s a few bathroom stalls in the bathroom – and I did notice some girls changing in the bathroom stalls for practice, which I’ve never really seen that before,” Scanlan said. “For me personally, the biggest thing was, when you’re changing, there’s all these people talking in the background, all these women’s voices, and then all of a sudden you hear a man’s voice. I’d always kind of jump a little bit [hearing Thomas’ voice].”

The interview is about 27 minutes long and worth watching:

Walsh offered this comment on Twitter:

It’s difficult to disagree.

The school comes out of this looking terrible.

So, the administration, most attached to the position of the institution fpr their sinecure, need it to be on the right side off history, or the grift might stop. It ain’t for the kids.

It’s like schools are systems for the permanent residents to posture for their patrons using the transients as fodder?

In other news, water still wet, and authoritarians gonna authoritarian.

Those who speak out will become TARGETS for the left. Maybe these other women are trying to get jobs at corporations that are all woke these days. Speaking out will limit any job prospects. Imagine any of them getting hounded and their employer harassed until the girls are fired. This is exactly how they operate.

The real women were told to lay back and think of Transrights!

Do I understand correctly that only ONE woman has come forward, out of all of the women on the team? Shouldn’t there be a majority of the team objecting loudly? Does the striking absence of that suggest a fundamental problem to anyone?

Do the women that are directly involved in this then go out and vote Dem, Dem, Dem in the wake of this?

she has graduated, has her degree, and has some measure of freedom. There are probably underclasswomen who have already put a lot of years and work and money into this degree that are still held hostage to the university. Give them a few years; not everyone has the courage and self-sacrifice needed to buck the system immedietly.

You figure, out of RESPECT they so crave for themselves, trans would not demand to parade around locker rooms with their junk. They should have “no choice” but to dress elsewhere in the locker room because they are, in fact, not the same as actual women and girls, who know it better than anyone else!

Why is the trans movement so intent on claiming rights by denying others, and even using physical violence, not just words “violence.” Why, if they want to be treated like everyone else, do they not behave like everyone else? The movement for civil rights is not about showing hatred or perversity on parade, in ways that the alleged bigots never would.

If only it was about athletics: “Transgender Miss San Francisco to make history at pageant for state title”

Sadly, it’s about so much more. It’s up to the people to recognize what has happened and, despite the diversions, deceits and obstacles, stop the transformation and reject the face of impending American fascism before it is too late.

Make history? Well, as far as you know.

You trust you own senses? You believe that a human with male genitals is a man? You are crazy.

Full on gaslighting of a young woman by an entire university. A young woman they are theoretically charged with protecting.

The school did give a choice which boiled down to a simple ‘our way or the highway’. The team members had a lot invested in their decision to stay instead of taking the highway and I don’t blame them. It was a horrible choice they faced, one which the school administration should be ashamed of but it was a choice.

Has anyone sued over this as a Title IX violation?

Any school that gets any federal $$ is required to have women’s athletics available, at comparable funding levels with mens sports.

Allowing men to compete in women’s sports ends women’s sports – it results in there being, effectively, two men’s leagues for each sport.

Any male athlete that can’t cut it on a men’s team can simply declare they are “trans” and become the dominant player on the women’s team instead.

For colleges/universities, this affects the number of available scholarships for female athletes also. Men can take women’s scholarships, just as they are taking their places on the women’s teams. The school just “deems” them a “woman” by virtue of them pretending to be one, and viola – no more scholarships for female athletes.

To every institution owned and operated by they Left, the Narrative is always far more important than any individual. If they could have, they would have threatened the young women with “camps” if they did not comply instead of all the concentrated agit-prop.

Those female athletes who grew up trying to excel in their sports are given the choice of throwing it all away, or submitting to humiliation. The key point for dealing with this does not involve these women. It involves the children interested in sports.

They have to be convinced from a young age that they game is rigged by the Left and the LGBTQRST Mafia and just not get involved.

Selecting out on signals as you describe is only sustanable when there’s a surplus. If we need all the graduates we can get, they’d do it differently.

Of course, selecting on signaling is natural in the “education” system, as it has itself become signaling, not developing capabilities, elevating lives, and so on.

She’s brave to reveal herself. Having to be brave to reveal yourself tells you everything you need to know about this ideology; except, where are the fathers, brothers, uncles? No man should ever be able to walk into a woman’s locker room. Ever.

nordic prince in reply to Frogger42. | June 8, 2023 at 8:52 am

Exactly. People are saying, oh, why aren’t more women standing up to this nonsense? Where are the women who are protesting this treatment?

I say: where the hell are the men? Where are the husbands, boyfriends, fathers, brothers, sons of these women?

Men used to be protectors of the women in their lives. Those who don’t speak up and are content to let the women fight for themselves are cowardly.

Thank God are least some fathers are stepping up and protecting their underage daughters. But no woman, regardless of age, should ever be in a position of having to defend herself because the men in her life are too lazy or cowardly to fight on her behalf.

Frogger42 in reply to nordic prince. | June 8, 2023 at 7:40 pm

When the social compact breaks down and the systems that should protect women and children don’t, what is the proper response? If the fathers, brothers and uncles don’t step up who will? Penn was able to scare these young women into silence. Maybe they should be forced to explain the funding of the “Biden Center” and where the money went.( Biden board members ?)The poor dad in Louden county tried. More have got to.

The adult women most certainly did have a choice. They could have refused to compete and shower naked with a guy then transferred to a different school. It would have been a good lesson in having the courage of your convictions. People need to stop thinking of college age men and women as children.

Shocking to me how brainwashed people are not to speak out when they are uncomfortable with a situation….like an abused child.

nordic prince in reply to diver64. | June 8, 2023 at 9:23 am

If you watched the Matt Walsh segment, the former teammate specifically states that the school engaged in intense gaslighting of the girls on the team, and it worked.

Not everyone is able to withstand brainwashing. Ever hear of Stockholm Syndrome?

CommoChief in reply to nordic prince. | June 8, 2023 at 11:18 am

The school absolutely used classic gas lighting to bend the team members to their will. On the other hand that’s what Parents are for. Call home and lay out the situation then ask for advice.

The “record” follows you; you’re profiled by the people you are leaving, as you try to leave.

Horrific. It’s the Stasi and the revolutionaries of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. She asks whether there was something wrong with that she thought. There was. It was Wrong-think.

kudos young lady–you are a courageous young woman–your family should be very proud–keep speaking the truth for there are millions of like-thinking women listening– your voice may be the one that spurs them to do the same

Critical Diversity Theory (CDT) asserts that human life is interchangeable, exchangeable, disposable in color blocs. The politically congruent (“=”) have not changed the nature of the doctrine, but amended it for their progressive pleasure.

Chicks didn’t have each others’ 6:00.

All of them needed to halt and refuse. Walk ons and especially the scholarship ones too. This should have been a “We are Marshall” moment but with a live team.

Those scholarships are locked- they are difficult to yank- and yanking over protest… yeah- that’d be a fight.

I say this with some experience- I told not one, but two NCAA coaches to go eff themselves and walked away from full athletic scholarship by the start of my junior year. Trust me, recruiters have no soul and they will gladly take you on elsewhere. I made exactly one phone call to land my next scholarship ride (granted I was really good) I had to sit out a year (on full ride) and completed my athletic eligibility on a full ride scholarship. With the exception of paying for 2 quarters of community college while I was figuring out my next move – so long as I had eligibility left, any team would have me.

From a coach’s perspective this is a nightmare because top talent is already committed somewhere else- recruiting is your livelihood and if you get a reputation for yanking scholarships- that is death to your ability to recruit. Also in one instance the program was screwed out of 2 years of getting talent- I basically tied their money up for 2 years and never competed in single event for them. Pretty stupid of the coach to eff with me right? In that case I went across town and did the same thing but ended up competing for that school.

Also what high school girls are signing up for this program when this is what the coaches do to you? You need to take a hard look at those incoming freshmen- they are freaking victims. up for slaughter. Talk about walking into an abusive relationship.
