Trump Hints That He Won’t Participate in Republican Debates

Trump Hints That He Won’t Participate in Republican Debates

Maybe Trump is going off because the Democrats announced they wouldn’t hold any primary debates.

President Donald Trump hinted that he wouldn’t participate in any Republican primary debates on his Truth Social account.

I didn’t know people were already talking about the debates.

The first debate takes place I’m Milwaukee, WI, in August 2023. The Reagan Presidential Library near Los Angeles, CA, will host the second debate.

The RNC thinks it might hold 10 or 12 debates between then and the convention next summer.

Besides Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, and business entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy announced their bids.

I have a feeling if Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announces his bid, then Trump will change his mind.

Maybe Trump is going off because the Democrats announced they wouldn’t hold any primary debates.

Not shocking. They wouldn’t put Biden on a stage.

PrincetonAl in reply to Ghostrider. | April 25, 2023 at 7:50 pm

I do too. But he’s not going to be the nominee.

Without any kind of proven experience or win on the political stage or the name recognition of Trump, he’s not going to get anywhere at the presidential level.

Happy to take a look at him at another level.

A lot of poorly run blue cities that need a great mayor and executive.

My biggest concern regarding Ramaswamy is that he will be unelectable. He is of Indian descent, and would not pull the independent and left leaning voters.

Hear me out on this, because it is not racist to say this.

There were plenty of actual and potential Republican candidates of various ethnicities and female in previous elections. Bobby Jindal, Ben Carson, Herman Cain, Carly Fiorina, Kelly Ayotte, Michelle Bachman, to name some.

For all the Democratic Party wailing about “People of Color” and “Women” in high profile positions, not one of them came forward to vote for Cain, Jindal, Carson, et al.

Even in 2020, the Democrats had Clinton as an option, and they voted for Biden.

As a first generation American, and accomplished and conservative one I submit, Ramaswamy has as much of a chance as Nimrata Randhawa. None.

Even the first real “black” president was 50% white guy.

As smart and sharp as he is, even if he doesn’t advance his presence will contrast the tired, stale establishment hacks like Nikki Haley, Asa Hutchinson (who?) and any others who may jump in.

Correct. They are left leaning hit squads that parrot divisive talking points.

inspectorudy in reply to rhhardin. | April 26, 2023 at 11:23 am

This is going to be a different debate format and moderators than the msm chose before. For some reason, on many different sites, most commenters don’t seem to have heard that these debates are going to be moderated by conservative people. Everyone keeps talking bout the past. Once the moderators are announced, THEN you can comment that they are rigged or leftists. Trump has to debate or many will label him a coward. The debates should be about where each candidate stands on major issues and what they plan to do about them, not personal insults.

Temujin in reply to inspectorudy. | April 26, 2023 at 2:59 pm

Your description is NOT even a close definition to a “debate”! You have described a common stump speech or a campaign website section.

inspectorudy in reply to Temujin. | April 27, 2023 at 12:50 am

So when the moderator asks how the candidates are going to solve the energy crisis that is a stump speech. If he asks the candidates how to solve the Ukraine war, that is a stump speech? Stump speeches are a bunch of BS promises like “I’m going to build the wall and Mexico is going to pay for it”, or “I’m going to drain the swamp”. Those are A number-one stump speeches right up there with a “Chicken in every pot”. But maybe you want the stupid childish nonsense that happened last time between Biden and Trump where each made claims about the other that did nothing to help a voter decide who to vote for. What else would a debate be about except answers to the problems our country has?

Temujin in reply to rhhardin. | April 26, 2023 at 2:51 pm

    Agree 100% !!!

Debates used to be for learning things in a dignified orderly manner. That world seems nearly gone.

Seems like a new thing for Trump to be passing on the opportunity to be on stage in the limelight. Doubt this holds. Truthfully the man is very good on stage in a back and forth Q&A style.

As well his participation would highlight his mental acuity and physical fitness/stamina in contrast to Biden. I don’t see Trump actually following through on this and ducking the GoP primary debates; it would put in the same camp as Biden of ‘hiding’ while ceding the stage and PR boost to his competition. Trump is many things but neither stupidity nor unwillingness to compete are among his faults or virtues.

        And you know it

Ghostrider in reply to gonzotx. | April 26, 2023 at 7:40 am

I get your rationale now. If Trump is the legitimate president as you say and so often point out, then why not skip the general election too, save a ton of campaign money and simply install him back into office because Trump deserves it.

Sounds stupid, right? Of course that line of reasoning does but I hope you realize that revenge is not a virtue. It fails to resonate in politics and relentlessly attacking DeSantis is not an effective campaign strategy to woo independent voters.

Trump’s MAGA ads beating up Governor DeSantis are foolish, disgusting, malicious and make Don, not Ron, look like a desperate man who sounds more like a Democrat. Bloomberg ran similar ads in 2020.

The truth is more and more conservatives are tired of Trump. Have the Democrats beat him up with lawfare? Yes. Has the man been subjected to constant harassment publicly and legally? Yes. Has the progressive strategy to overwhelm the man with countless scandals and political chaos to change public opinion of Trump increased? Yes. Are the Democrats confident they can incessantly smear him and chest there way into another run away election loss? Yes.

Granted all that is contained in the Democrat playbook. Does that mean all American conservatives should avoid nominating a younger candidate without the baggage and coalesce around Donald Trump? Because he deserves it? No.

inspectorudy in reply to gonzotx. | April 26, 2023 at 11:27 am

When you agree to play a sport or any endeavor, you do not get to make rules that you like, but accept the rules that already exist. Trump has earned nothing that would allow him to dictate any rule change that favors him. That is the opposite of fair play. The DNC has already done that to any challenger to Biden.

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | April 25, 2023 at 9:27 pm

He has earned as much say over the GoP debates as any other candidate. He isn’t running as an incumbent this time, as he did in 2020. Like it or lump it Trump is not ‘more equal’ than the other candidates in the 2024 primary.

There is no way I see him backing out of the primary debates. He would be savaged as being timid and would spawn his own age issue narrative if he did. The guy who chooses to act, at times, not all the time as somewhat of a bully on the campaign trail can’t afford to have even the implication of being gun shy.

Trump knows all this better than anyone which makes it another one of his ‘fire then aim’ moments that he is known for. By Jan of ’24 Trump will be bristling with anger if anyone brings up his empty threat to skip out on the debates. Book it and bet on it.

That’s not respect, that’s called losing. No matter the cause, he lost and hasn’t earned anything since then and now he wants to have an edge over his rivals. He is the kind of man that most of us try never to be like. Turning on your friends and lying about things that he fears. Like Hillary, the more you see of him the less you like him.

Mercyneal in reply to gonzotx. | April 27, 2023 at 7:10 pm

Huh? He is not automatically entitled to the nomination. He has to work for it. And the election was not stolen. Stop mollycoddling him and enabling him. If he is the hotshot that he thinks he is, then he should have no problem sharing the stage with DeSantis

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | April 26, 2023 at 7:20 am

His election? Wouldn’t it really be Our votes that were nullified via election fraud? He was unable to overcome the expected shenanigans.

The election changes for 2020 were not a surprise on election day. They were broadcast very clearly well in advance of election day which is where his campaign should have been making challenges to stop them or plans to mitigate and overcome them.

The man got hosed but so did we, ultimately he didn’t get inaugurated thus he didn’t win. Until y’all can can get through the denial stage of your grief and move to acceptance you won’t be able to heal in time for the next battles we face. We don’t have to like reality but we must accept it.

inspectorudy in reply to CommoChief. | April 26, 2023 at 11:38 am

I agree with your comment and he also did not have the national organization that he needed in each state because of his independent nature and by not seeking help. He blew it because of his huge ego and the thought that he was almost a king. He never worked with Congress and he never had a national team with boots on the ground to help him in 2020. For some reason, he seems to think having very popular rallies is the same as having teams in every state, going door to door, and working on your behalf. They are not the same. He had better get it together and get his organization going or he will lose again.

Mercyneal in reply to CommoChief. | April 26, 2023 at 11:35 am

There is no way he would let DeSantis be on the stage without him. Though frankly, Trump has gained such an alarming amount of weight recently that he looks like a coronary or stroke about to happen. I wonder if Trump and Biden not be around next year

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to CommoChief. | April 26, 2023 at 9:17 am

One thing that I have considered about Trump and his off the cuff, shoot from the hip pronouncements is this:

I believe he says things that force other people to give credence to what he wants. His desire not to participate in the primary debates creates an atmosphere of him being able to go rogue, or to participate. It would be better for the establishment that he participate, so he gets consulted to insert his demands.

Not a bad thing as far as I am concerned.

Another way is to view it is as yet another example of empty threats and posturing to attempt to gain personal advantage which he will eventually back off of b/c he is bluffing and everyone knows it, including him.

This is elected behavior from him and some folks grow tired of it. Others seem to like the empty threats and posturing. He has a habit of this sort of thing and frankly if I were running the show for the GoP primary I would call his bluff very publicly and then put him in the position of having to ask to be included in the debates. He could then publicly climb down off his high horse on this issue and be a team player or do his own thing.

You are lying. There is not one person on this site that is calling for any of the things you stated. Many of us will vote for your hero but do so reluctantly. He is very divisive and we can expect nothing but hatred and chaos if he is elected. Every important bill that comes up for a vote will be exactly by party lines. If he doesn’t carry both Houses, he will be a lame duck from day one. He has no ability to work with others, not even with his own party. It will be four years of name-calling and nothing important getting done.

Temujin in reply to CommoChief. | April 26, 2023 at 3:04 pm

    1. Biden will NOT be the democrat party candidate. He is just a stalking horse.
    2. Any so-called “debates” will be designed by never-Trumpers.

I’d prefer a “Contract with America” version 2.0 between republican primary candidates and tied to D.C. house and state legislature republicans – incumbents and candidates.

A party-wide plank with sensible declarations of intent.

For instance – federally; no more continuing resolutions and omnibus bill nonsense. Out west; solid water policy for both large and small farms and residential users. Solar panel sanity.

I want to see agreements in writing and signed. If they can’t do that for us little people, then i simply won’t vote republican.

    Contract with America 2.0:

“The Republican Commitment to America” — An Economy That’s Strong, A Nation That’s Safe, A Future That’s Built on Freedom, A Government That’s Accountable.

Tiki, many of the specifics that you mentioned are in there. I’m not surprised that you may not have heard about it; it got some traction during the Speaker vote but the media ignored it, as usual.

inspectorudy in reply to Tiki. | April 26, 2023 at 11:42 am

This is exactly why we need debates. Not to play gotcha like the weasel Wallace did but to ask real policy questions of the candidates. The Biden-Trump debates were a disgrace thanks to the moderators and the GOP has said loud and clear that this will not be a repeat.

Many try to analyze Trump, as if they know him better than he knows himself. Maybe take him at his word. They do have it in for him. They are angry. They do want to libel and abuse him. There is history to show it. How better than to become a media celebrity than to gotcha Trump? There is nothing wrong with a shot across the bow, but much wrong with the speculative soothsayers seeking to tear a man down because he tells it like it is in ways they are too fragile to tolerate.

Trump gets 1 vote on Trump for POTUS. The rest of the American people get a whole lot more. In that sense, what people say about him and their collective impressions of him matter a whole helluva lot more than what he thinks about himself.

Save the martyrdom crap for your Sunday school play.

Trump has absolutely no self-awareness. Zilch. nada. Seems empty inside. Hence the 180s he does on people and issues within 24 hours.

Trump comes off like a bully in debates. He and Biden should both campaign from their basements. Saves all of us the drama.

The only debate I saw that I thought he looked like a bully was the first one against Biden, that was the wrong move, all the rest, they were lined up against him on the stage and the so called neutral people running the debates
He actually was informative and funny and people loved him

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | April 25, 2023 at 9:45 pm

Trump is very good on that stage which is why his empty threats about skipping the debates are so foolish. He really wants a bigger voice in how the ’24 GoP is conducted which would be one thing if he was the sitting POTUS which he isn’t at the moment. Sucks but true and all of have to live with that till Jan of ’25.

He and many others seem to want to demand that he be given the same courtesy and privileged position as would be granted to an incumbent President, which unfortunately for all us, he is not. The sooner he and everyone else comes to terms with not only that fact but that ’24 isn’t a ‘do over’ of 2020 the better.

We have a different and more pronounced set of problems which can’t be addressed by running on basically ‘I wuz robbed and Biden is too old and feeble’. The culture wars are foremost in folks minds which sooner or later Trump will be forced to set policy positions on. He has always been very socially liberal which means he will need to step out of his comfort zone on trans ideology, Parents rights, Federalism v DC elite legislation, abortion and so on. Recall that he is a bit vulnerable on 2A and signed a bunch of criminal justice reform stuff pushed by Kushner.

          CommoChief in reply to txvet2. | April 26, 2023 at 7:28 am

Maybe just make a straight forward declaration of his opposition to trans ideology which is distinct from LGB acceptance. Then he could apologize for his bad 2A stance and bad Covid policies of the federal govt under his watch.

He is very much a NYC liberal, not a leftist mind you but an old school liberal on many social/cultural issues. The center/right populist movement is decidedly not and he is gonna have to adjust to that fact.

The debates are useful (example: exposing Kamala Harris) but for the most part, they’re rigged – with the help of the GOPe: just look at the “moderators”.

So, another piece of American tradition goes down the toilet because of the fascist democrat party.

Never forget: the goal is genocide.

Oh for the love of god Mark Zuckerberg is not a communist, Bill Gates is not a communist, Jeff Bezos is not a communist, the captains of American industry are not communists.

    Learn some new dam vocabulary.

The wealthiest people on planet Earth who run corporate America are not communist.

If you are afraid to use the word “fascist” because of the intense meaning of that term in our culture there are other terms like authoritarian that describes them accurately.

But the biggest players on the stock market, biggest names in corporate America, and masters of American industry are not communists.

You make us all sound like crazed lunatics calling firm capitalists like Jeff Bezos and Chuck Schumer communists.

Some people have real lives and don’t count commenting on blogs (even stupendous ones like LI) as the top thing they need to be doing. He’ll respond when he has the time. In the meantime, stop being so obnoxious to our long-time readers. You haven’t been here a month and are already insulting people with far more built-up credibility (and common sense) than you have thus far demonstrated.

“stop being so obnoxious to our long-time readers. You haven’t been here a month and are already insulting people with far more built-up credibility (and common sense) than you have thus far demonstrated.”

You think Danny has credibility and common sense? I guess that means you must also believe that the 2020 and 2022 elections were “honest” … that Biden and other democRATS didn’t win because of cheating. LOL!

And as for being “obnoxious” and “insulting people”, I simply suggested in my first post that Danny might be a UNIPARTY supporter given that he uttered such an obviously false claim. His response was to call me a “liar” and use the word “bullshit” … most uncivil.

And now he wants to pretend that wealthy people like Zuckerberg can’t “for the love of god” be communists. And he did that by attacking poster TheFineReport in a most obnoxious and insulting way … even going after his “dam (sic) vocabulary”.

So I simply pointed that the wealthy (like Stalin and Mao) can be communists and that Zuckerberg and a bunch of other “masters of American industry” colluded with a communist (Obama) to subvert a US election and its government.

I proved it by posting an image of a chummy dinner that Obama and his communist cronies held in 2011 with all the Social Media moguls that helped him win election and later censor conservatives to put Biden in office. In that picture Zuckerberg is clearly seated between two communists. It’s a birds of a feather sort of argument.

Now do you want to try and argue that Obama and Valerie Jarrett are not communists? Because I’d be happy to debate that with you and/or Danny. In fact, I suggest that only democRATS and UNIPARTY supporters would claim they aren’t communists these days, given all we now know about the two of them and what they’ve done..

I was actually referring to your insane calls to violence (which have since been removed because they violate our commenting policy). I don’t know if Obama and Jarrett are commies or Marxists or Maoists (this, I think, is closest) or socialists or what they call themselves, but I do know that they hate America and want it destroyed. They aren’t alone, far from it. In fact, you seem to want the same thing since your solution is to nominate for the GOP someone who can not win the general. Then what, your genocidal porn fantasies come true? What you propose is sick and evil, and no one here is interested. We are not “uniparty” here, and you keep saying that. We love our country, and the last thing we want to see is your “remedy.” Take your crazy and go, please.

Who’s the dude in the blue muumuu?

I’ve said for a very long time there is zero reason for ANY Republican to participate in the so-called ‘debates’ moderated by far-left liberals out to make them look as bad as possible.

Why would we want to allow far leftist hacks from CNN, CNBC, or MSDNC to be ‘moderating’ a Republican debate so they can force them to answer idiotic liberal gotcha questions?

Cruz got a huge positive boost from openly calling out CNBC for their insane ‘moderation’ of the 2016 debate because they asked him the laughable ‘question’ of “Congressional Republicans, Democrats, and the White House are about to strike a compromise that would raise the debt limit, prevent a government shutdown and calm financial markets that fear of—another Washington-created crisis is on the way. Does your opposition to it show that you’re not the kind of problem-solver American voters want?”

That was also the debate where they literally accused Trump of being a ‘comic-book villain’ in a so-called ‘question’.

I can’t imagine why Trump says the debates are trash and no Republican should participate in them.

I say you want a debate do a series of podcasts with Joe Rogan, Tim Pool, and Glenn Beck asking the questions and moderating the debate.

You’d get a heck of a lot better actual debate, knowledge about candidate positions, and presentation than idiocy hosted by CNN.

PrincetonAl in reply to Olinser. | April 25, 2023 at 7:52 pm

The debate format and moderators badly need shaking up.

No one should be participating in debates moderated by people who aren’t even close to being moderate (or neutral or fair).

Olinser in reply to PrincetonAl. | April 25, 2023 at 7:58 pm

Exactly. This farce of claiming far leftists from CNN or CNBC are ‘neutral’ wore out decades ago.

At worst you have to have a moderation panel of a leftist and a conservative (and maybe a libertarian), and acknowledge their actual biases. Each one asks questions from their own biases (and BOTH Democrat and Republicans have to face the same panel).

Allowing conservative debates to be hosted by far leftists only interested in making them look bad, and Democrats to be hosted by far leftists trying to make them look as good as possible, is a JOKE.

healthguyfsu in reply to PrincetonAl. | April 25, 2023 at 8:40 pm

inspectorudy in reply to Olinser. | April 26, 2023 at 11:48 am

I can’t believe you people haven’t followed the new debate rules that have already been approved. There will be no leftist moderators, period! Everyone keeps talking about the past but the RNC has said that there will be no repeat of the unfair debates of the past. Wait and see who they choose for the roles of moderators and then whine.

The Democrats already have their ballots printed, signed, and waiting to be entered into the voting systems. Wanna’ bet?

If you can’t, then why do you think any other so-called republican can win? And my opinion is that Trump’s so-called “shenanigans” had America on the road to greatness again. Unlike any President in recent history, he made promises and kept them. He had the respect of our enemies. He didn’t start any wars. Our economy was looking up. We were close to energy independence. So I fail to see why, all that being the case, you’d abandon him … why you’d grow tired of him.. Perhaps because what you claim isn’t true?

Danny in reply to BeAChooser. | April 26, 2023 at 2:25 pm

To quote Andrew Klavan “if you have given up what are you doing here?”

The fact that you are still here AT ALL shows you are well aware Biden won and that Trump is unpopular with the general public you just need to lie to yourself.

inspectorudy in reply to BeAChooser. | April 27, 2023 at 1:10 am

I don’t think anyone has talked about abandoning him. There are a lot of us who are tired of his 2016 crap and attacking fellow Republicans. Sure, go after their different views on issues but to lie about them and their families is over the top. We would like to have a man/woman that lifts us up not lowers us to the base level.

BeAChooser in reply to BeAChooser. | April 27, 2023 at 2:24 am

inspectorudy, I think it is you DeSantis supporters who are lying to yourselves. Answer me this. Why would so many elites that we now know for certain are members of the UNIPARTY (which got the country in this mess) are rooting for DeSantis? They are funding his campaign. Why would they do that unless they either think (1) DeSantis will spoil Trump’s chance to be President or (2) they know something that you presumably do not … that DeSantis is UNIPARTY too? I can see no other logical reason for their support. Comment?

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to BeAChooser. | April 27, 2023 at 11:18 am

I don’t know if any other republican can win. But I know for sure that if Trump is nominated as republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election republicans will not have any chance of winning at all. None. What.So. Ever. The democrats hate Trump with a pathological hatred that borders on insanity (if it isn’t outright insanity) and if Trump is nominated republican candidate for 2024 they will use every method available to them both fair and foul to make sure he isn’t elected for a second run in the White House.

So what I said stands. I’m tired of Trump’s shenanigans at this point and just wish he’d go away and let the adults deal with the upcoming election. He’s doing nobody any favors with his temper tantrums and his attempts at grabbing attention are hurting the republican party.

Lol President Trump was the greatest President in many of our lifetimes

What adult are you actually talking about?

Tell us about the economic freedom you secured for millions of Americans, the only President to not have a war and not put our precious soldiers in harms way in how many decades?
How about Middle East peace, embassy in Jerusalem, Abraham accord, bringing back American manufacturing, decreasing cost of medications, Black businesses given a hand up amd exploding, highest employment of black and Latinos , rewrote NAFTA, attempted to build the wall but shoved by his own party, how’s that working out for us, minimal illegal thug intruders, returning illegals to their homelands, didn’t take a penny amd donated entire salary to great causes

        I mean WTF

Most of which has already been undone by the Biden WH with more foolishness to come from them. Elections have consequences and Biden has been POTUS for two + years now. All the noise about the unfairness and shenanigans of the 2020 election is woulda, coulda,.shoulda might have beens.

We must work our asses of locally to clean up our local election precincts. We must adapt to new rules many States have put into place and work to maximize our election returns. We must work together to get it done. No one is gonna do it for us.

Danny in reply to gonzotx. | April 26, 2023 at 11:28 am

He has the legacy of the Supreme Court shared with Mitch McConnell (although his stance on social issues today is run run run run run run run away from them), and tax cuts.

I have never heard of a Republican President cutting taxes and making supreme court appointees before wow amazing….oh wait that is a never since Bush thing.

We could either glorify and mythologize or have mythology not both.

inspectorudy in reply to gonzotx. | April 27, 2023 at 1:16 am

Everything he did except Jerusalem and NAFTA was immediately repealed by Biden on his first day in office. That’s what happens in DC when you can’t get anything done in Congress. He had no ability to work with anyone and as a result, all of the things he did were repealed. Do you think he is going to be able this time? Has he insulted McConnell enough to win him over? Do you think for one minute McCarthy is going to stick his neck out for a lame-duck POTUS? We are going to be right back to 2016 with Trump telling everyone what he has done but not by, law only executive orders.

Amen, brother! I thought he would have matured just a little but he is like an old mule and knows the way to the barn and cannot take a different route. He could have milked all of the lawsuits against him for sympathy and told how he was going to bring America back, but he hasn’t. He is the same old egotist as before and maybe even worse. Insulting and lying about everything. He hasn’t shown any dignity in having been POTUS once and is acting like this is his first shot at the job. He could have welcomed his Republican opponents and said let the best person win. But he didn’t. He has no grace or dignity.

Or he’s trying to make a point, which he did. That they could care less. That they are the problem, not the solution. It’s not his fault that people make mountains out of every molehill or get so enraged. It’s on them, actually.

healthguyfsu in reply to oldschooltwentysix. | April 25, 2023 at 8:47 pm

The proper expression is couldn’t care less.

“Could care less” means they care more than zero.

Trump does a lot of clumsy BS to play right into that TDS. You can pretend it’s “3D chess” for only so long before you look like a zealot for not recognizing how much it has actually lowered his approval and electability.

Except polls show this week, including from Tony Fabrizio, Trump’s own pollster that it’s DeSantis who beats Biden in swing states, and Trump loses to Biden. Word is that Trump started badmouthing Fabrizio as a result

BeAChooser in reply to BeAChooser. | April 26, 2023 at 1:58 pm

Mercyneal, polls at this stage of the campaign are relatively meaningless, especially when the other side can cheat. I make my usual challenge: Name ONE STATE that Biden *won* in 2020 that he wouldn’t win now. You can’t because the cheating that let Biden *win* numerous states hasn’t been fixed by the UNIPARTY controlled GOP and election monitoring organizations.

That being the case, all these polls predicting the election outcome on the basis of total popular vote are utterly worthless. They are not election predictors. Instead of worrying about running DeSantis versus Trump, we should be worrying about fixing the election system before 2024. That we are being distracted in this manner so that doesn’t get done is likely deliberate.

Now, let’s examine this poll you cite from Frabrizio … the one that shows Trump has a significant lead over DeSantis in the primary but would lose to Biden. In fact, Frabizio’s poll (and it was done in cooperation with the UNIPARTY controlled Wall Street Journal) showed that since December there has been a 27 point swing toward TRUMP over DeSantis.

The reason is clear (to me) … most republicans aren’t buying DeSantis’ shenanigans. His non-campaign campaign. His lies about not setting up social media efforts. His backstabbing of Trump. And we don’t trust him because many of his biggest backers are clearly UNIPARTY members. His supporters are even unscrupulously changing laws so that he can run without having to resign from the governorship. We’re being played.

Doesn’t it concern you, Mercyneal, that the polls shows that in a field of candidates that include such UNIPARTY scoundrels as Pence, Haley and Romney, that their votes go to DeSantis in a 2 person race? In other words, the UNIPARTY wants DeSantis to run. Why is that? I can think of only 2 reasons. Either they believe that Biden will still win against DeSantis thanks to cheating (so this is just an effort to muddy the water for Trump) or they know DeSantis is a stealth UNIPARTY member. The latter really concerns me because there is evidence of that possibility. In which case, electing DeSantis would be a HUGE disaster.

The following are honest elections Trump lost

The following are honest elections where Trump had millions fewer votes than his alternative but won because she failed to correctly identify which states would be in play (and he still barely won those states)

          Trump loses honest elections.

Enough self delusion. 2021 GLENN YOUNGKIN VIRGINIA

2022 Donald Trump Blake Masters-far left senator wins re-election.

          You are a liar sir.

If you believed the bullshit you are writing you wouldn’t be writing it you would have long withdrawn from politics.

          “MUH RIGGED MUH RIGGEEDDDD!!!!!!!!!!”

Well Democrats won in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania so if you actually believed that you would believe we have no chance in 2024 and wouldn’t care and wouldn’t be wasting your finite time on politics.

That is a great way to know you if somebody is a liar or not.

The fact that you insist on Trump as the nominee shows you are 100% convinced he lost legitimately otherwise you wouldn’t want him to be humiliated again.

BeAChooser in reply to BeAChooser. | April 26, 2023 at 8:25 pm

Danny – “You are a liar sir.”

LOL! This from a poster who says that 2020 and 2022 were “honest” elections. Who do you think you’re fooling Danny? No one who is really MAGA, that’s for sure. Like I said folks, it amazing how many UNIPARTY supporters there are on this forum.

Either way works, actually. But you could care less. It’s plain spoken English. Did not realize there was a grammar cop in our midst.

Never said it was 3D chess. That’s fakery. As to approval in the future, who knows? You? In fact, he was so unpopular in 2020 that he outperformed any incumbent ever. 10 million more voters. Best minority results in 60 years. Pretty terrible.

You apparently don’t like his ego and his mean tweets. You want him to be someone else. That would ensure he loses. He speaks for himself, but would pronbably say, “Thanks, but no thanks.”

healthguyfsu in reply to oldschooltwentysix. | April 25, 2023 at 10:30 pm

No, either way doesn’t work. You confer the opposite of your intent with the expression by saying “could care less”.

You’re welcome for the tip, but I didn’t expect you to actually get it.

I don’t like his blunders. I don’t give a crap what he says. He’s not half as smart and has twice as big of an interfering ego as his followers think he is. These ruin his chances at real productivity, and I understand that your sunk cost won’t allow you to see it. It’s okay…we’ll have to go through another 4 years of Dem control sinking us down the crapper when he loses again in a general. And yes, I will vote for him.

So healthguyfsu, do you think DeSantis hasn’t blundered? Biggest blunder of all is that he could have been Trump’s VP pick and therefore a shoe-in for 2024, assuming democRATS don’t cheat … which DeSantis must believe if he really is a MAGA conservative and thinks has a chance to be President now. Then 4 year later, he’d have been a shoe-in for President. So either he immaturely impatient (and therefore not a good candidate for President anyway) or he blundered. BIG TIME.

It does work. You do not get to tell people how to write, even if you think you do. Next you will demand that one must capitalize. black. That you even raise the matter and be so pompous is a joke.

Maybe you should attend to your own blunders before being the blunder judge, too. He seems to have done pretty well without your sage counsel, but don’t let that stop you.

It was a total turnout election where just about everyone eligible voted and he lost by many millions of voters achieving 46% of the vote despite Democrat riots, while Biden a man who ran entirely on Trump evil vote against Trump won the record for vote totals.

So what? The point was that no incumbent ever performed as well. That is fact. You kind of left out the other facts of how the Democrats manipulated the outcome as having any bearing. Molly Ball made it all up!

46% twice, and the second time Democrats identified the battlegrounds and won in those battleground states.

In other elections where Trump was the issue in the three must win states Trump delivered us to catastrophe in those states.

He turned Wisconsin from a Republican trifecta where we had the supreme court to one pre-Trump senator barely holding onto statewide office and Democrats having the supreme court.

Care to paint a map to the white house without Wisconsin, Michigan, or Pennsylvania?

You did not refute the facts presented or address that it was rigged. Too much TDS .

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to oldschooltwentysix. | April 25, 2023 at 9:38 pm

No, Trump is the problem. And he’s no more privileged to have a say in the debates than any other possible candidate. Trump is doing nobody any favors at this point with his continual childish temper tantrums (How dare they make a decision without consulting me!!) and attempts at grabbing attention are only going to hurt republican’s chances in the upcoming elections.

So yes, Trump will participate in all the republican sponsored debates. His massive ego won’t allow anything else.

Buy in to the mean tweets narrative if you must. Insist he set aside his ego. That’s a game for others, and too often a deceptive game. In truth, he’s entitled to do what he wants and make the points he wants. It is a rigged system, as others have noted. Yet so many people wring their hands because he calls out the forces against him, the speak as authorities about what it means and what will happen. When ego takes priority over the state of the country and planet, guess it does not matter what comes next,

How about insist you come up with an election involving him where he actually won when the Democrats actually identified the battlegrounds?

Or how about you draw a map to the White House without Wisconsin, Pennsylvania or Michigan which ALL hate Trump?

Did you see the 2022 results, and no the voters did not reject a Trump appointee to the RNC they never heard of they rejected Trump.

Why? Not interested in convincing people that have it all figured out, especially when it has not yet happened.

The election was rigged. That never seems to enter your calculations. Because you have it all figured out.

Again where is your Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania free map to the White House?

The election was not rigged you just are a sore loser who requires stab in the back mythology.

The election was not rigged, the ONLY reason to still claim that is if you love yourself some more Joe Biden.

          Paint your map.

Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania have made it clear they hate Trump as do a majority of Americans. He LOST us the Red wave he LOST 2020, he LOST 2018.

The American people have made their decision on him, and he is at 100% name recognition.

You are free to vote Joe Biden for general by voting Trump in the primary, I am not letting you escape reality, and I am not letting you plead ignorance later when Biden takes his second oath of office.

You sure like to make demands and point fingers. Very progressive in your manner. Draw your own maps. You already know the outcome. How silly.

I am not the one insisting on nominating Trump and claiming he could win YOU are.

Again why can’t you draw a map to the White House?

The following times Trump lost Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pensylvannia

In addition he lost Wisconsin in 2023.

He barely won any of them in 2016 and that was because Hillary never visited them and did not consider them in play.

The actual voters there have made up their minds already.

For Trump to win means he wins without any of those three states.

          Therefore DRAW YOUR MAP.

          Go ahead draw it.

Your failure to address the issue is because you are well aware you are throwing the election to Biden.

What point was Trump trying to make except having a childish temper tantrum because the republican party leadership dared (DARED I tell you) to make some decisions regarding republican debates without consulting His Holiness Saint Donald J. Trump (PBUH) on the matter. That’s the only point I see him making.

And as I’ve said before Trump isn’t fooling anyone. When he realizes the republican debates are going to happen without him he’ll be jumping right in as if this childish temper tantrum didn’t happen.

      “Couldn’t care less.”

“And we understand him well, How he comes o’er us with our wilder days, Not measuring what use we made of them.” Trump V

If Joe B can hide in the basement and get elected why should a candidate with a wide lead subject himself to a stage likely designed to kneecap him. The primaries will tell the tale the debates are merely a distraction. The Dems know it which is why Biden is unlikely to debate.

Ghostrider in reply to kjon. | April 26, 2023 at 8:39 am

B/C he will look like he is scared if doesn’t and comparisons to the very frail Biden will be made. Reality bites sometimes but ignoring it will always bite you in the ass.

Trump wants a coronation and a rerun of 2020. It’ll likely have the same result too.

Danny in reply to geronl. | April 26, 2023 at 11:21 am

    No it won’t.

Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania all voted at about the same rate as California did against identifiable Trump candidates.

    Wisconsin pre-Trump=Republican trifecta

Wisconsin after Trump=A single pre-Trump Republican senator is the last holdout for statewide offices.

Without three states that are decisively in the hell no to Trump camp he would not have been president, and he lost the popular vote to HILLARY CLINTON one of the worst candidates and most hated candidates by MILLIONS of votes.

We have seen Trump’s strength in 2018, 2020, and 2022 he has none in the general.

inspectorudy in reply to Danny. | April 27, 2023 at 1:24 am

Trump losing the popular vote to the most hated woman besides Pelosi is never mentioned in Trump circles. His famous popularity wasn’t there and isn’t there now. It’s his base that goes to all of his rallies and there are no new joiners. No independents, no Dem crossovers, no blacks, no young women, and no abortionists, so basically that leaves his base. If he is to win, he has to include a lot of new people and it doesn’t appear that he has realized it yet.

That’s because he’s scared to death of DeSantis. Coward.

His approval,… gtfoh. The petulant teen routine is old, so don’t go, Don. I’m sure missing your litany of nickname zingers will be heartbreaking.
