Professor Jacobson on CRT in Veterinary Schools: ‘It’s Just an Ideological Power Play’

“If veterinary schools think they are advancing racial justice by embedding racial group identity politics into training, they are barking up the wrong tree”

Professor Jacobson and Legal Insurrection Senior Contributing Editor Kemberlee Kaye recently wrote an op-ed for the New York Post about the expansion of Critical Race Theory in veterinary medical schools.

It sounds absurd, but this is really happening.

Professor Jacobson recently discussed the issue with Stuart Varney of the FOX Business Network.

From FOX News:

Critical race theory taught at America’s top veterinary schools, new study finds

Eight of America’s top 11 veterinary schools have implemented controversial critical race theory (CRT) or Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) related curricula or training, according to a new study.

“If veterinary schools think they are advancing racial justice by embedding racial group identity politics into training, they are barking up the wrong tree,” CriticalRace.org founder William A. Jacobson told Fox News Digital.

CriticalRace.org, which monitors critical race theory (CRT) curricula and training in higher education, has expanded its database to veterinary schools. The findings included that four of the schools have mandatory training or curriculum for students, eight have some sort of mandatory faculty and staff training, and six have incorporated DEI training into their search and hiring processes.

“Nothing shocks us anymore about the push to inject CRT/DEI into education, but we didn’t expect that it would be so aggressive in veterinary schools,” Jacobson continued. “The ideological capture of top veterinary schools demonstrates that CRT/DEI is not about pet care, it’s about controlling people with ideology. It’s not like the patients are howling for their doctors to be social justice warriors.”

Jacobson, Clinical Professor of Law at Cornell Law School and founder of the Legal Insurrection website, believes there has been a concerted effort to push women, along with racial and ethnic minorities, into the veterinary profession.

“In 2005, when the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) formally announced its “DiVersity Matters” initiative, aimed at increasing enrollment of non-white vet students. Thereafter in 2020, the American Veterinary Medical Association announced a partnership with the AACVM to form the Commission for a Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive Veterinary Profession,” CriticalRace.org wrote in a summary of the study.

It just goes to show the lengths the left is willing to go to embed their ideology into virtually every academic discipline.

“Training Fido’s Vet to be woke”

My dog Fido hates Vets and never listens to a word they say.

I, on the other hand, love Vets. But I would never punish my dog by taking him to a Woke Vet.

Go Woke. Go Broke.

The veterinary profession is the least racially diverse profession. Females constituting roughly 60 per cent of the current student bodies. Its the intellectual rigor required to get into a vet school that is the determining factor in the lack of diversity.

Vet school is harder to get in than Med school but I’ve seen few minorities and I volunteer at wildlife rescue organizations
I’m guessing that’s going to change, not because of interest but because of “ of opportunity “, over those more qualified

My pets cost me a fortune. Can’t get out of the office under $200

Cattle and equine vet students applying have been at low levels for a decade, because it’s outside work and pays a lot less than in-clinic small animal (volume for one).

They are pushing Cultural Marxism onto all of us, colleges and universities then corporations and professionals.

Posted 2 sites that were writing and quoting the professor , as I said, not on topic but wanted to show how far and respected the professors voice has become …oh well

I’ve noticed majority of vets now are women, pink haired blue haired…lots of tats

Yup. But are they actually qualified…because, for the most part, I don;t care what they look like, I care if they can do the doctoring. Typical Lefty crap, always flipping the priorities.

Watch out. If your dog won’t hunt the vet may determine that it is really a bitch and do some canine gender reassignment surgery.

MrsCamperfixer is a DVM. Her Vet School associates (prof’s etc) – at least those who believe in actual vet training – are leaving, retiring ASAP. Many are top prof’s and renown.

Four things to note:

1) The students don’t do the work (aka ‘lazy’)
2) The vet schools have forgotten their main charter
3) Multiculturalism was the beginning…this was expected as [see number 2 above]
4) Will difficult ‘boards’ (to practice veterinary medicine) be made “easier”?

Just great, now we’ll have some fool who can’t draw blood or properly diagnose…but they’ll have checked all the boxes and know their [moronic] preferred pronouns”.

So, does CRT practive forpets require the same treatment for cats and dogs?

Just asking.
