Historian Michael Beschloss: If GOP Wins ‘Our Children Will be Arrested and Conceivably Killed’

Historian Michael Beschloss: If GOP Wins ‘Our Children Will be Arrested and Conceivably Killed’

“We’re on the edge of a brutal authoritarian system, and it could be a week away.”

Presidential historian Michael Beschloss is officially broken and needs a timeout because lost his damn mind on MSNBC on Wednesday night.

You guys, the GOP will arrest and kill our children! I’m shocked he didn’t say the GOP will also eat them as the parents watch. Or go all Titus Andronicus and feed the kids in a pie to their parents.

Just accept the fact that Americans do not like your policies because they suck.

No one should ever take this man seriously ever again. What a clown:

Well, [Biden] was absolutely candid and he was absolutely right, because, as you know, Chris, six nights from now, we could all be discussing violence all over this country. There are signs that that may happen. May God forbid. That losers will be declared winners by fraudulent election officers or secretary of state candidates or governors or state legislatures.

We could be six days away from losing our rule of law and losing a situation where we have elections that we all can rely on. You know, those are the foundation stones of a democracy.

So if Biden had gone on the air tonight and said, biggest thing we have to worry about is, you know, marginal tax rate or something like that. Well, it is important. But what significant presidents do — I think you will agree, we both we write history, you and I.

1868, Lincoln didn’t say, biggest issue is land grant colleges, although he felt strongly, he said the country can’t survive half-slave or half-free.

1940, Franklin Roosevelt didn’t say, you know, the biggest thing I’m worried about is farm policy. Farm policy was important to him, but what he did say was never before, since Jamestown and Plymouth Rock, has America been in such danger.

Joe Biden is saying the same thing tonight. And a historian 50 years from now, if historians are allowed to write in this country and if there are still free publishing houses and a free press, which I’m not certain of. But if that is true, a historian will say, what was at stake tonight and this week was the fact whether we will be a democracy in the future, whether our children will be arrested and conceivably killed. We’re on the edge of a brutal authoritarian system, and it could be a week away.

This is appalling and disgusting. Is anyone pushing back against Beschloss’s hyperbole, which is obviously false and dangerous?

The left claims the right uses violent rhetoric. Beschloss literally threw up some violent rhetoric on national TV.

A Chicago man faces charges for threatening GOP gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey. He left Bailey some of the vilest voicemails.

Then a man tried to assault New Hampshire GOP Senate candidate General Don Buldoc on Wednesday night before a debate.

I think this country has a serious mental health crisis and needs to be addressed, but somehow the clownshow running the asylum would label that as “racist” somehow. What a dumpster fire we live in………….

“Hysterian”… there… fixed it. A reminder… saying “nice doggy” to a rabid mutt is useless.

Historian suffers memory loss.
Wow.

SInce yhou knwo histoiroy. That happened with the Clot Shot and our kids are still dying for open border drug trafficking. You can’t argue your ignorant opinion on this.

The word “unhinged” does seem to adequately describe this guy. I’m surprised that he wasn’t just wearing his underwear like the Paul Pelosi loon. This raises the question: Is there any longer a substantive difference between NBC and MSNBC?

And they wonder why we want to keep our guns.

Oh man, an EXCELLENT observation right there.

Linda P. in reply to Martin. | November 5, 2022 at 6:32 pm

Uh, no, I don’t think they wonder. Why do you think they’re pulling out all the stops, trying to get us to voluntarily or involuntarily give up our guns? It starts with the ARs, otherwise known as “assault rifles.” Then onward and upward, till the only people with guns will be IRS agents.

They are preparing the proletariat for multiple fraudulent elections. By them.

Don’t forget the democrat violence, a la Milwaukee, Portland, et al.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to Tom M. | November 3, 2022 at 3:07 pm

Most certainly they will try, we need to make sure that those trying go to jail.

Sort of. What they’re doing is prepping their mobs for all out anarchy when the Republicans sweep the elections, and they accuse them of “stealing the election”.
I’m greatly concerned we’re going to see a repeat of some kind, possibly worse, of the “mostly peaceful summer of love” in 2020. And then calling for Martial Law.
They are a ruthless and dangerous bunch and I would not put anything past their evil schemes to tear this country apart.

Why pick on 3 year old girls?

Colonel Travis in reply to r2468. | November 3, 2022 at 2:26 pm

A 3-year-old girl doesn’t know any better. You don’t condemn that, you nurture and educate. What’s this idiot’s excuse?

I’m picking on a 66-year-old twit who has never had the guidance to become a responsible adult, and/or if he did get it, threw it out the window.

I think you have it wrong.

He has an adult psychological/intellectual capacity he is just a very evil adult.

Don’t turn into a relativist evil exists.

Colonel Travis in reply to Danny. | November 3, 2022 at 6:11 pm

I don’t know if this guy is evil. He writes books. He has no power over our lives. Does he have the capacity for evil? Maybe, I don’t know. I don’t equate speech with action. I do not care what someone says, I care what they do. Calling me a Nazi is not the same as shoving me into an oven.

Perhaps the closest this guy can come to acting on evil is in the voting booth or with money, advice, etc. If you want to make a case that he supports evil, fine. And if you want to make a case that that is good enough to be qualified as evil, I’m ok with that, too. But there is also nothing incongruous with having a stunted mental capacity in some way and being evil. Wanting to wish people into the cornfield? That’s a very bad man! You cannot get more childish than that.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxTMbIxEj-E

Note what happened to David Starkey.

He made the claim that Britain did not commit genocide by engaging in the slave trade, did it in an inelegant (saying “so many dam” is not an unusual term), and was immediately fired from everything; everything he had that could be revoked was; it was done by people who had known him for 60 years, and he was placed on a police investigation.

To this date he has never used inflammatory rhetoric designed to try to draw the UK towards civil war or encourage violence which is what this presidential historian is doing.

Tell people the other side are nazis/fascists/ists/phobes and yes you will get a lot more violence and hate.

As far as the scale of evil it comes nowhere near close to Merrick Garland but it is still horrendous.

Colonel Travis in reply to Danny. | November 3, 2022 at 8:54 pm

David Starkey was punished. He was shunned. Stripped of awards and a career. He was investigated by police. That isn’t mere talk. Those are acts.

Would you strip Michael Beschloss of his career?

I am a free speech advocate. I do not give a shit what anyone says. If someone acts because a 3rd party like Beschloss thinks a group of people are Nazis, what do we do to the 3rd party? Are we to arrest Beschloss? Do we force him to shut up? I didn’t say don’t condemn him. But how far are you willing to take that condemnation? Do we outlaw speech you don’t like? Can’t say Nazi? Do we have two N words now?

A lot more violence and hate? How do you qualify “a lot”? What does “hate” even mean? Not only why are you using that word, but why do you care if someone hates you? Is reverse UK suppression what you are after? I have no idea. Just asking questions.

Durak Kazyol in reply to Colonel Travis. | November 4, 2022 at 8:02 am

Telling lies and accusing people of planning murder isn’t evil?

Oh by the way, Beschloss was on the ‘Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission’. I think he served coffee and emptied ashtrays for them.

Well Lincoln didn’t have much to say at all in 1868 what with him being previously assassinated.

What kind of things are his kids up to that he believes they are in danger of being arrested for? Antifa? Jane’s Revenge? Environmental Liberation Front?

I consider this actionable slander. If he were sued by the NRC, his only defense, like Rachel Madow, would be that he’d appeared on MSNBC, so reasonable people would ordinarily disbelieve anything he says.

    Pepsi_Freak in reply to Valerie. | November 4, 2022 at 9:01 am

Sorry, no such thing as “group libel (or slander)” in US law, although the defense you mention (“inherent incredibility”) does work in individual cases. That’s probably why CNN/MSNBC talking heads are seldom sued for the nonsense they spout.

What a nut job.

The View’s Sunny Hostin: “White Republican suburban women are now going to vote Republican — It’s almost like roaches voting for Raid.”

“”That losers will be declared winners by fraudulent election officers or secretary of state candidates or governors or state legislatures.””

Sounds familiar.

Suburban Farm Guy | November 3, 2022 at 3:16 pm

I’m not sure what kind of a democracy features one party outlawing the other. North Korea, Saddam Hussein’s Iraq… Any non-hysterian historians wanna help me out here?

Sure sounds like that’s where they’re headed. The guy’s projection reveals a lot.

    Iraq called itself a Republic.

Democracy has lost all meaning with the start of the 21st century because it ceased to mean anything in the countries it was actually practiced.

You don’t have to go back to the 20th century; we attempted to force Baghdad to turn into Los Angeles by military force.

Democrats are simply taking that to its most logical extreme of declaring Democracy means one party fascist rule.

henrybowman in reply to Danny. | November 4, 2022 at 3:48 pm

“we attempted to force Baghdad to turn into Los Angeles by military force.”
That’s kind of funny, because that’s one of the few things you CAN do now with a suitable application of enough high explosives.

Fat, Beschlossed and stupid is no way to go through life.

Otto Kringelein | November 3, 2022 at 3:22 pm

It never ceases to amaze me how many of these liberal democrats fail to take their meds like the good doctors at the mental hygiene institution tell them to and then end up publicly spewing the most lunatic and hysterical nonsense for all to hear.

I mean really, the GOP is going to “arrest and conceivably kill our children.” Really?!? Perhaps someone should remind Michael Beschloss that the democrat party advocates for the death of thousands of children yearly through unregulated and universal abortion for all women no matter the stage. And they don’t seem to have a problem with that.

Again, again, again: just follow the money on this swamp clown:

I knew Michael’s father and worked with him several decades ago at a major non-profit where he was on the board. Nice, level headed guy. Full of fascinating stories about growing up at a teen in Germany in the late 1930s thru the War. Can’t imagine how Michael wound up mentally in the place where he is now.

A quick glance at where he was educated/indoctrinated explains much.

Eaglebrook School, Phillips Academy (Andover, MA), Williams College and Harvard University

Wealthy, elitist, socialist. boarding schools. Where the rich dump their kids for someone else to raise.

Hollymon in reply to Gosport. | November 4, 2022 at 10:25 am

I graduated from Andover and… now hold on to your water, everyone… Oberlin. My father was a merchant sailor who served in war zones in WWII, Korea, and Vietmam. My mother was a union lithographer who worked 3-11 throughout my entire childhood while my dad was at sea, the only woman in her union for many years. They were neither wealthy nor elitist, certainly not socialists, just hard-working parents who sacrificed for their kids. My dad pulled the lever for Wallace/LeMay.

They didn’t “dump” me there. They rewarded my hard work in school by sending me there after busting their asses for decades to provide me with an opportunity that very few kids get. It was life-changing for me. Go Big Blue!

That having been said, I damn near fell off my chair when I watched Michael Beschloss’ comments on Fox. “Unhinged” doesn’t do it justice.

      What an asshole.

This very much is the kind of rhetoric that leads to civil wars; and this HISTORIAN knows it which is why he is doing it.

David Starkey was attacked for claiming Britain didn’t commit a genocide by engaging in the slave trade because some jackasses took a small piece of the comment out of context; he lost all sorts of positions honors that he very much earned; police even decided to try to put him in jail for it.

He never descended to this kind of rhetoric.

Because ultimately David Starkey doesn’t want to contribute to making the world a worst place; while making the world a hell hole is what this “Historian” in the article believes in.

BierceAmbrose | November 3, 2022 at 4:53 pm

Denying elections is WrongThink, citizen. Certainly as a Presidential Hysterian you know that.

BierceAmbrose | November 3, 2022 at 4:55 pm

It does think Commander Panic there would like a bit more election transparency. Maybe consistent processes and protocols. Visibility into ballots and traceable ballot handling. An election certification process as mandated ahead of time, in law, even.

“1868, Lincoln didn’t say, biggest issue is land grant colleges, although he felt strongly, he said the country can’t survive half-slave or half-free.”

Umm… pretty sure he didn’t say much in 1868.

It will be really delicious if Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi meet with Biden after the election and ask him to resign immediately so KH can get a new VP confirmed while they still control Congress.

You’ve gotta understand the purpose of MSNBC… it’s red meat for people who don’t eat red meat. It’s a channel entirely devoted to stirring up the progressives, so making them angry by putting on the absolute most batshit angry leftists they can find and having them rant about Trump and Republicans. That’s how the network stays in business. This “historian” is paid to go on there and shriek like a wounded cat how Republicans are about to turn the country into a full fascist dictatorship. The few remaining mouthbreathers who watch it eat it up because it stimulates their anger and hate. They’re the basest of emotions, and they enjoy it.

BierceAmbrose | November 3, 2022 at 5:13 pm

There have been a bunch of suggestions for better balloting protocols; all pretty good. I want to add two parts I haven’t seen elsewhere:

1 — Local counts are all published, and signed at the same clock time.

None of this “the counting will continue until the right people win.” They won’t know how many votes they need to “find” if everybody publishes at once. Also none of this “what was reported, by whom?” Also none of this: “Counting mail-in ballots is hard – waaaah.” And none of this: You know, a bunch of people couldn’t send stuff in on time, so let’s just change the deadline.

With current computing tech, literally every counting jurisdiction could publish its results online, literally at the same time, each e-signed so that unwrapping to see the counts inside would confirm it hadn’t been tampered, and who sealed it.

2 — Yes, we are perfectly content with letting potential voters disenfranchise themselves.

Don’t get to your polling place as directed — didn’t want to vote, did you? Can’t mail the thing on time — didn’t want to vote, did you? Jurisdiction can’t get their count in on time, or deliver it right — fine with disenfranchising your constituents, it seems. Ballot “spoliation” — you have to color inside the lines, idiot. Didn’t get yourself registered before election time — who are you again?

BTW, there’s an easy, robust d-mechanism for ensuring single-voting of only registered voters, but that’s been described by others, so I can’t claim it as an addition.

Last notion… publish a voting RFC — “Request for Comment”; part of the process for developing a lot of foundational infotech. You publish a *candidate solution* as a *Request for Comment*. People “comment” with *improvements to the candidate solution.*

When the RFC settles — fixes and elaborations stop coming in — you baseline the spec, then offer it as legislative language for any jurisdiction to read in, in their voting laws. Most interesting would be who uses this sort of protocol, and who doesn’t.

The leftist fascists rhetoric has gone past the stratosphere. It is clear that more independents see Democrats as the real threat to democracy

surfcitylawyer | November 3, 2022 at 5:53 pm

It is the Democrats who actually kill children-before they are born.

If Republicans wanted to kill American children, we’d let the Democrats continue what they are doing. Chopping up the unborn babies, chopping up children to make them the other “sex,” and killing young adults with drugs.

If our children or other people are going to be arrested and killed as a result of the Republicans winning this election, it will be done by the Democrats as they try to overturn the election. When the violence comes, it will come from them.

Subotai Bahadur

Besschloss is not a real historian. Not anything of the sort. He plays one on tv. He gathers material from real historians and biographies and writes for the popular press. He is a fake.

“what was at stake tonight and this week was the fact whether we will be a democracy in the future, whether our children will be arrested and conceivably killed.”

Wishful thinking, asshat.

We’re trying to prevent you from killing your children.
We sure as hell aren’t going to turn around and kill them for you.

He is projecting. As Dennis Prager observes, “people tend to think others are like themselves.” Beschloss is telling us what Dems would do with a Blue wave.

Antifundamentalist | November 4, 2022 at 8:07 am

I have to wonder if he isn’t just projecting. He knows what “he” would do to the opposition if he could. It isn’t that far a stretch to believe that his opposition would do exactly the same thing.

freespeechfanatic | November 4, 2022 at 8:10 am

Breathtaking. No other explanation but complete cognitive dissociation from reality or some other mental illness.

When the “brutal authoritarianism” doesn’t materialize (as his Leftist allies continue their dehumanization, mutilation and systematic psychic destruction of children) will he apologize?

Steven Brizel | November 4, 2022 at 8:43 am

Beschloss is a fine historian but this was so over the top and ripe with hysteria that it should be seen as just what it is-the reaction of an elite liberal as to th red wave-in that regard, Beschloss is hardly unique and a good example of the views of academia on politics

“in 1940, Franklin Roosevelt didn’t say, you know, the biggest thing I’m worried about is farm policy. Farm policy was important to him, but what he did say was never before, since Jamestown and Plymouth Rock, has America been in such danger.”

ironically, FDR was also talking about Republicans when he said things like that

FDR was a pioneer in comparing the GOP to Nazis long before the Godwin Rule

Yes, the Soviets had “official historians”, also.

No, Mikey, this election is about the price of hamburger and gasoline and people being afraid of getting murdered while they go about their daily lives and try to purchase either. As a historian you should remember or at least be aware of the Carter stagflation of the 1970s. People who weren’t alive then or were too young to remember it can look it up on the Internet. Whip Inflation Now. Wage and price controls. You Lefties scared enough people in 2020 with your divisive nonsense to win an election with a senile nasty incompetent old man. All that’s happened in the past two years is that Biden was forced to come out of his basement too many times and the a-hole that everyone already knew he was (including Obama) was exposed. Everytime Biden opens his mouth he demonstrates what a horrible choice he was.

This is a very sick and dangerous man ! I was shocked to read the revolting comments that he made which sounds like someone that should be in a mental care facility.

I used to have a modicum of respect for this clown. However, he’s clearly on the progressive, liberal bandwagon.

And who is being threatened more? The Democratic candidates or the GOP candidates?

We’re on the edge of a brutal authoritarian system

Confession through projection.

“And a historian 50 years from now, if historians are allowed to write in this country and if there are still free publishing houses and a free press, which I’m not certain of.”

Being prohibited from writing and writing such garbage no-one wants to read it or take is seriously is not the same thing.

A Punk Named Yunk | November 6, 2022 at 7:12 pm

There is another danger: In a country with our population and the disproportionate (I think) number of insane people, there is sure to be a large number of loose ends who will believe this lunatic rant and act on it as though there is actual danger of this. But how about the consequence of a Democrat victory?

We already see Gestapo style raids on journalists (eg. Charlie Kirk), though nobody has been killed yet. We have witnessed parents custody of their child for “for Refusing to Affirm ‘Gender Identity’” .(https://headlineusa.com/court-yanks-custody-from-indiana-parents-for-refusing-to-affirm-gender-identity/)

So, Mr Beschloss, where is the free press more in danger? Can you name a Trump-bashing journalist who was arrested or raided? Can you name anyone who lost custody on behalf of a political cause? (Of course, virtue-signaling parents who PUSH woke-gender trash on their kids *should* lose custody and be banned from contact. But I digress)

You are right. Charlie Kirk, Project Veritas, and most recently True the Vote leaders tossed into jail. But according to the Official State Media, Gestapo-like things are only on the right. There are no excesses on the left (including wishing opponents committed to re-education camps).

Typical Democrat Party drone. Calling opponents (who are constitutionalists) tyrants while his own Party checks every box on the despot/tyrant Things To Do list.

Mike, you forgot, don’t take your meds on a empty stomach.

I would suggest Mr. Beschloss take his family to safety and move to Brazil. There he will have the leftist government he so seeks.

I got rid of the only Bechloss book I ever owned years ago. Once I found out he was a fraud, a degree in Poly Sci, not history, I figured how accurate can any book he writes be.

What a blithering idiot! Hey, Beschloss, the only people I notice get arrested by the Blue Cheka (fka FBI) or persecuted by the Department of “Justice” are conservatives (that is, constitutionalists). Democrats and their sympathizers walk. The speech suppressors and burning, looting, murdering blackshirts are all Democrats. Crimes against conservatives (e.g., fire bombed pro-life clinics), the Blue Cheka can’t even be bothered to investigate.
