Just Stop Oil Protestors Throw Soup On Van Gogh’s Sunflowers at London’s National Gallery

Someone educate these morons about petroleum.

The Just Stop Oil protesters have given a Master Class on how not to persuade people to join your cause as they continue their wave of destruction across London.

The two females threw a can of soup over Van Gogh’s Sunflowers at the National Gallery. Thank goodness the painting has glass over it!

Then the females glued themselves to the wall.

These people keep gluing themselves to things. Do you know what’s in glue? Petroleum-based materials.

What is petroleum? The fossil fuel known as crude oil.

These people, man:

“What is worth more, art or life?” said Phoebe Plummer, one of the activists, 21, from London. She was accompanied by 20-year-old Anna Holland, from Newcastle. “Is it worth more than food? More than justice? Are you more concerned about the protection of a painting or the protection of our planet and people?

“The cost of living crisis is part of the cost of oil crisis, fuel is unaffordable to millions of cold, hungry families. They can’t even afford to heat a tin of soup.”

You could have donated that can of soup to a homeless person. Petroleum likely has something to do with the making of that soup. Petroleum also helps make your clothes unless the items are 100% wool or cotton.

People heat their homes with electricity. How do you get electricity? Coal. People use natural gas or electricity for cooking.

They should waterboard these idiots with the same soup.

They are just annoying people, in both sense of the term.

Put them in jail and do not provide them anything derived from petroleum such as heat, lights, or food not grown in the prison yard. It will be an eye-opening experience, just like the one the residents of Martha’s Vineyard experienced.

    Lol. Great idea.
“You want no petroleum products so we are accommodating your wish” as they stand naked and hungry in the muddy yard at night in the dark

UnCivilServant | October 14, 2022 at 11:18 am

The one thing in this whole equation that is petrolium free is the painting they attacked.

“The two females threw a can of soup over Van Gogh’s Sunflowers”

Was it vegetable soup?

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to fscarn. | October 14, 2022 at 6:07 pm

Will someone unclear if the concept throw a vase full of flowers at Warhol’s painting of a soup can?

/like a crying out “stage play!“ In a crowded fire station, but different.

BobM in reply to fscarn. | October 18, 2022 at 8:32 am

    I believe it was tomato.

I say leave them glued to the wall. That would be an installation worth money to view.

Greta wannabes , someone should have slapped the bell out of them

These idiots continue to do things like this because they aren’t routinely beaten senseless … the justice system will not stop them.

Their filthy rich parents surely had these two scumbags out on bail within an hour.

The timing is so over the top as the UK … and everyone else except Russia stares at a cold dark winter in Europe. Will they volunteer to be at the forefront of the suffering?

“The timing is so over the top

That’s intentional. As we see with the trans, these are Control Freaks who get off on making people jump. They don’t care about oil or climate change, those are just venues they weaponize to gain what they crave most: Power.

I sometimes imagine a character named Pat, stereotype of the woke soyboy, driving around his own neighborhood for the rush of dopamine hits to his self-esteem: everyone in Montgomery County is now parking backwards because of a letter he wrote to the HOA. It’s inefficient and unreasonable, which makes it an even more delicious morsel for his Vanity.

Making others do something they don’t want to do is their kink. And raising the stakes to make others do something that could kill them? That’s multi-orgasmic bliss to a Control Freak.

They are mentally ill, not stupid.

Sounds like they need to be on a winter edition of Naked and Afraid. Let’s see how they would do as hunter gathers.

“What is worth more, art or life?” said Phoebe Plummer, one of the activists, 21, from London.

In Phoebe’s case, art is worth more. A lot more. And any art, not just Vinnie.

What happens to children whose parents never spanked them.

If prison is supposed to be rehabilitative I suggest having them spend the next 6 months in a dark unheated jail cell.

“The cost of living crisis is part of the cost of oil crisis, fuel is unaffordable to millions of cold, hungry families. They can’t even afford to heat a tin of soup.”

So they are pro-oil. I agree. Oil is too expensive and people should have access to cheap oil, as is easily possible. We need more oil … and gas and coal.

“Females”? How dare you to assume their gender!!! I bet nobody asked them which preferred pronounces to use when they were getting arrested, either!

Otto Kringelein | October 14, 2022 at 12:12 pm

The two females threw a can of soup over Van Gogh’s Sunflowers at the National Gallery.

And this is why we can’t have anything nice anymore. 😡

Require these sanctimonious pretenders to go forward without ANY benefit from fossil fuel.

I suspect that these two’s ranking of art’s importance is fluid. They would probably chain themselves to the wall to protect the display of Piss Christ.

American Human | October 14, 2022 at 12:22 pm

All they are doing is moving their narrative without actually doing anything useful.

So ‘stopping oil now’ would make oil MORE expensive which would in turn make almost everything, the soup included, more expensive…

Leave them glued, if they get hungry let them eat the soup they threw on the painting. Don’t get the acetone until they’re dead. Screw them.

Steven Brizel | October 14, 2022 at 1:16 pm

They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent permitted by the law

Just glancing at the picture, I suspect mental illness played a role in this. Since gluing themselves to the wall provides objective evidence that they are a danger to themselves, they should be confined to a mental institution until they become sane enough to recognize the value of oil and art in the maintenance of civilization.

BierceAmbrose | October 14, 2022 at 1:40 pm

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. They can’t be sincere.

It’s a gallery. They’re doing performance art, illustrating the multiple ironies of “climate” protesting. Fortunately, throwing soup on a Van Gough is still crazier than what Extinction Rebellion typically do.

Spent the morning watching a crew take out a tree. Wrapping up they used a Vermeer stump grinder that made quick work of what was left. It would be very effective at removing those loons from the wall, and dissuading others to do the same. If budget is an issue, a belt sander would also work.

Leftists and “Anti-fa” Dumb-o-crats are goose-stepping, brownshirted thugs. No different from totalitarians throughout history, whether of the Islamic, National Socialist or Communist varieties. Violence, destruction, threats and intimidation are how they seek to impose their will on free peoples.

glue their tongues to the wall

Have them (and all the anti-CO2 despots- they really are fascists, and they’re running for re-election) attend a plant nutrition food class. The sunflowers would have not grown if CO2 did not exist above 150 ppm. Next class is thermodynamics – heat transfer. Natural gas is the most efficient non-nuclear energy source for boiling water to generate electricity. If they don’t pass the tests, they can be plant food.

I agree with some that say take away anything and everything on them that used fossil fuel to make. Do it too them while they are glue to the wall. I think that would leave these too twits stark naked and glued to the wall. Maybe throw a hand woven rough wool blanket over each to cover up the unsightliness of the scene. Oh how humiliating that would be. But that would not get too them because it would not penetrate their thick skulls.

(At least it was fun writing that. The British police will do nothing.)

How could they not use Campbells? Do they know nothing about art? Do they have no sense of irony?

Kids these days!

They wouldn’t want to live in a world without oil. They’re just too stupid to know that.

Russ from Winterset in reply to parthos. | October 14, 2022 at 3:35 pm

Other than alcohol, all solvents are derived from petroleum. When they glue themselves to walls, roadways, vehicles and even each other I think it’s perfectly rational to just shrug your shoulders and say “oh well, guess they wouldn’t want us to exploit petroleum products to free them.”

These creatures need a good ass kicking.

“given a Master Class on how not to persuade people to join your cause”

I wouldn’t be so sure.

Say what you will about the Marxist Left, they FIGHT. The are always on the offensive, challenging and attacking. And they are always running ops on multiple fronts at once. Their Wokedom has swept aside our institutions like a religious Crusade. I think the last time a culture fell this quickly was when the Conquistadors landed.

(Bane Voice): “Do you feel in charge?’

And how has the Right responded? Where are our people? We can’t march in the streets without being murdered by Antifa Brownshirts or rounded up for the kangaroo courts. We are so desperate for leadership that we are being conned by grifters and cucks at every turn.

Aside from a few champions like Project Veritas, we’re impotent.

These comment threads are a good example. All the energy is on the other side. They are willing to risk injury, imprisonment and even death for their cause. We won’t even risk damage to our cars. Our best response so far are attempts to shame the shameless over their oil hypocrisy.

If this was a football game, I would have left at halftime. And I don’t think oil execs or the British government is the intended audience for these protests. I think these protests are directed at the People who, in the absence of Champion, submit to the Strong Horse.

The Left is willing to fight, to kill and die for their cause. While the Right seems to believe that if violence is necessary to save the Republic then it’s no longer worth saving. You don’t need to be a student of history to know who will win and who will go along to get along

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn weeps. He endured all that suffering to warn future generations for nothing. And I can’t get that last sentence out of my head. Do we really deserve to be free if we won’t fight for it?

Where are we at? At present, anyone who implies that we are running out of alternatives to violence as a last resort is regarded as a loon or an undercover Fed. So, unable to communicate, we are paralyzed as time is running out. That may be moot anyway. We can’t even be bothered to participate in local government. The excuse has always been we outsource that so we can focus on family, and yet we somehow missed the groomers mutilating our own children to stock the pond for pedophiles? We put Marines on the wall to make whatever sacrifice is necessary to protect our civilization from outside threats, and in return we would remain vigilant against threats from the inside. Somewhere along that path we lost the Will to Act. Civility and Conformity have trumped Liberty. There’s an old joke I repurposed: two conservatives are being marched into the death camps, one says to the other “now don’t go making a fuss, you might get us in trouble!”

You think these protestors are failing? Our side reminds me of a football team that is a victim of their own inertia. We haven’t converted a 3rd Down for the entire game. And we’re hoping we can rally at the 2 minute mark and put 3 touchdowns on the board?

We have to find a way to kill the inertia.

“We can’t march in the streets without being murdered by Antifa Brownshirts or rounded up for the kangaroo courts”

“They are willing to risk injury, imprisonment and even death for their cause.”

But it’s hardly any real risk at all, because those kangaroo courts look only in one direction. One might postulate from this observation that the left has already won. The current phase is nothing more than a protracted neutering and mop-up of the enemy.

{‘m sorry. Did I miss something? Are oil protesters now protesting oil paintings

Just start ripping those numbnuts off whatever they are glueing themselves to by their hair and that tactic will quickly lose its appeal

Subotai Bahadur | October 14, 2022 at 7:12 pm

OK, you can absolutely depend on the British criminal justice system making every effort to make sure that those two, and all their allies, suffer no discomfort or inconvenience from this. They are perfectly safe. After all, it is not like they were working to help the Brit people survive the winter or have enough food to eat this winter.

If Britain will not take a stand to protect country, culture, and people from attacks, they will get more and more of them until they fall. That is what they have chosen.

The British home guard happily accepted the donation of thousands of personally-owned firearms from private owners in the US; then, once the war was won, they “cleansed” themselves of all those icky weapons of war by dumping them into the North Sea.

Flick the ungrateful bastards. They’re on their own.

You’d think a group protesting the supposed evil of oil would use oil to deface something

Suburban Farm Guy | October 15, 2022 at 11:30 pm

Abundant energy is key to prosperity and the comfortable, convenient and mobile lifestyle enjoyed by the West. Without it — oil, that is, black gold, Texas tea — where was I? Oh yeah. Otherwise, we would still be riding horses everywhere we went, which wouldn’t be far because of their limited range. Plus we’d be too tired out from working those 65-hour weeks in the agricultural sector tilling and hoeing just to survive. In other words, the Progressives want to take us backwards, more than a hundred years. Too bad they can’t get what they vote for without dragging all of us along…

Fat_Freddys_Cat | October 17, 2022 at 12:43 pm

Saying that they ought to be educated presupposes that they can be educated. I have my doubts. In the very least they will have to experience the withered fruits of their utopia: freezing, starvation, societal collapse so that they would have to literally fight to survive. At that point they might realize “hey maybe this wasn’t such a good idea”.

These neandralthrows want us to live in caves.

And starve – their ignorance is shown up in their statement – oil vs food – which ignores the hard fact that if we stopped using oil to farm the majority of world pop would starve to death. Those that didn’t die in the ensuing riots and not-mostly-peacefull riots, Of course in their worldview they may consider that a feature – a dicksonian culling of the “surplus’s population” which they never imagine would and should start with themselves.

I’ve read that the museum was complicit in this event – based on the number of reporters poised to cover the event, the long wait for the two nutcases removal until after their tirade was concluded, and the museums press release which was more praise than condemnation. I hope future contributors to them take note and stop contributing.

New twist on this sort of demonstration:
Genius activists glue themselves to Porsche museum floor, then complain they’re hungry

“Within just hours the protestors complained the glue hurt their hands, they were cold and hungry, needed the bathroom, and that the lights had been turned off [overnight].”

They also LITERALLY complained that VW had not “given them” a pot to piss in!

A national satire writer comments (these quotes are NOT authentic):

A spokesman for VW clarified the “support” issue. “We support their right to freedom of speech and assembly,” he said. “No one impeded them assembling in the museum and voicing their opinions. Overlooking the consequences of foolishly gluing themselves to the floor is not our responsibility. The ones who planned the protest should not demand that others bear the blame for the discomforts they have brought upon themselves. The need to excrete and stay warm after-hours were foreseeable events. The failure to provide for these contingencies undermines the credibility of their proclaimed environmental solutions.”

“The group’s call for ‘decarbonization’ and ‘degrowth’ will inevitably force much of the world’s population to endure increasing discomfort and deprivation,” the VW spokesman pointed out. “Perhaps the unpleasantness of their ordeal at the museum might inspire them to reconsider whether there might be saner ways to deal with climate change.”
