Republican J.D. Vance Now Leading Democrat Tim Ryan in Ohio U.S. Senate Race

Democrats and the media have worked very hard to demonize Ohio Republican U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Vance, but it doesn’t appear to be working.

Tim Ryan, the Democrat in the race, was off to a good start, but as of now, the Real Clear Politics average of polls has Vance up by 2.3 points.

The Hill characterizes this as a tight race because Ryan has a one-point lead in one poll:

Tim Ryan, J.D. Vance locked in tight Ohio Senate race: pollOhio Senate candidate Rep. Tim Ryan (D) is running nearly neck and neck with Republican challenger J.D. Vance, according to a new poll.A USA Today Network Ohio-Suffolk University poll released Monday found that 47 percent of Ohio general election voters said they would vote or lean toward Ryan if the Senate election were held today, while 46 percent said they could back Vance.Six percent of respondents in the poll said they were undecided, while 1 percent said they would support someone else. The slim margin between the two leading candidates falls within the poll’s margin of error of 4.4 percentage points…The Ohio Senate seat is considered one of the most competitive races this election cycle, which has been rated by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report as “lean Republican.”

The last Trafalgar poll had Vance up by five.

Tim Ryan recently told MSNBC’s Morning Joe program that we must “kill” and confront the extremist MAGA movement.

The Daily Caller reported:

Tim Ryan Says US Needs To ‘Kill And Confront’ ‘Extremist’ Republican MovementDemocratic Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the U.S. needs to “kill and confront” the “extremist” Republican movement.Ryan and co-host Willie Geist were discussing J.D. Vance, Ryan’s Republican challenger for the open Senate seat in the upcoming election. Geist noted a recent poll showing the two candidates trending closely, with Geist asking Ryan if he had a message for Republican voters in Ohio.“I’m one of the most bipartisan members of congress,” Ryan said. “The last two congresses I have been in the top 10% of most bipartisan. I want to work across the aisle. Look, Democrats aren’t right on everything, and I’m willing to sit down and have conversations about how we can move out of this age of stupidity and into an age of reconciliation and reform, how do we fix all of these broken systems.”

Here’s the clip:

It’ll be fascinating to see how that goes over with Ohio voters.
