Something’s Happening Here: Feds Seize Cell Phone Of Trump Ally House Rep Scott Perry Day After Mar-a-Lago Raid

There’s obviously a full-on DOJ-FBI effort to get Trump on something. That’s part of what’s happening here. But there’s probably a lot that we don’t know about how that is going to happen. I think we’ll find out right after the midterms.

It’s barely 24 hours since the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago was revealed. My post, This is a provocation. They are trying to get a reaction that allows a further crackdown, has been shared widely.

There’s no doubt that the way the raid was carried out was deliberately provocative. It was meant to get a reaction at multiple levels. But as Andy McCarthy and others have speculated, it’s possible the pretense of the raid leaked to the press — failure to return presidential documents including possibly classified documents — was just a ruse to get the Feds inside the building:

The Justice Department obviously used the potential classified information as a pretext to obtain a warrant so it could search for what it is really looking for: evidence that would tie Trump to a Capitol riot offense – either a violent crime, such as seditious conspiracy to forcibly attack a government installation (which is highly unlikely), or a non-violent crime, such as conspiracy to obstruct the January 6 joint session of Congress to count electoral votes, or conspiracy to defraud the government.

This wide-sweep theory just gained more support, with Fox News reporting the seizure the day after the Mar-a-Lago raid of a cell phone from a close Trump ally, Republican Rep. Scott Perry:

Republican Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania says that the FBI has confiscated his cellphone.

Perry, in an exclusive statement, told Fox News on Tuesday that while traveling with his family earlier in the day, he was approached by three FBI agents who handed him a warrant and requested that he turn over his cellphone.

The confiscation of the congressman’s personal phone comes one day after FBI agents searched former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

“This morning, while traveling with my family, 3 FBI agents visited me and seized my cell phone. They made no attempt to contact my lawyer, who would have made arrangements for them to have my phone if that was their wish. I’m outraged — though not surprised — that the FBI under the direction of Merrick Garland’s DOJ, would seize the phone of a sitting Member of Congress,” Perry said in his statement. “My phone contains info about my legislative and political activities, and personal/private discussions with my wife, family, constituents, and friends. None of this is the government’s business.”

National Review notes Perry’s interaction with the January 6 Committee:

Though it is unclear from the Fox News report why agents seized Perry’s phone, the action comes three months after the House committee on the January 6 Capitol riot subpoenaed Perry along with House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy and Representatives Jim Jordan of Ohio, Mo Brooks of Alabama, and Andy Biggs of Arizona. All five Republican lawmakers had declined the panel’s requests to voluntarily cooperate. It is extraordinarily rare for a congressional committee to subpoena sitting members of Congress.

Perry condemned the panel’s dramatic move at the time, saying, “That this illegitimate body leaked their latest charade to the media ahead of contacting targeted Members is proof positive once again that this political witch hunt is about fabricating headlines and distracting the Americans from their abysmal record of running America into the ground.”

Perry, who supported Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him, was reportedly in contact with the Trump White House numerous times in the weeks leading up to the Capitol riot.

This follows the June 2022 search of the home of Trump-supportive Assistant Attorney General Jeffery Clark.

There’s obviously a full-on DOJ-FBI effort to get Trump on something. That’s part of what’s happening here. But there’s probably a lot that we don’t know about how that is going to happen. I think we’ll find out right after the midterms when DOJ/FBI slam  down whatever hammer they think they have.

What is happening is the West in not even remotely in the same category it was a generation ago, it is now oligarchic and is working triple over time to catch up to Russia.

    There’s something happening here

What it is ain’t exactly clear

There’s a Fed with a gun over there

Telling me I got to beware

I think it’s time we stop, MAGA, what’s that sound

    Everybody look what’s going down

    There’s battle lines being drawn

    Nobody’s right if everyone’s wrong

    Conservatives speaking their minds

Getting so much resistance from behind

I think it’s time we stop, hey, what’s that sound

    Everybody look what’s going down

What a field-day for the heat

A thousand people in the street

    Singing songs and carrying signs

That’s an insurrection for the other side

It’s time we stop, hey, what’s that sound

    Everybody look what’s going down

    Paranoia strikes deep

Into your life it will creep

It starts when you’re always afraid

You step out of line, the Feds come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what’s that sound

    Everybody look what’s going down

    Stop, hey, what’s that sound

    Everybody look what’s going down

    Stop, now, what’s that sound

    Everybody look what’s going down

    Stop, MAGA, what’s that sound

    Everybody look what’s going down

Yes, the big picture is right in front of everyone’s face: tyranny.
Not enough know what it is and/or care.

We are losing our ability to interact with the economy without being one of them, we are losing our ability to even enter or speak in the public square, law enforcement is actively trying to destroy the opposition with strategic strikes meant to instill terror…….

You are more likely to be a Briton arrested for thought crimes than a Russian both per capita and in total numbers.

The West 1 generation ago was far from perfect but todays west is reverting to a time period prior to America when tyranny really and truly was the norm, it isn’t just America.

M Poppins in reply to Danny. | August 10, 2022 at 10:29 am

We’re living in a psychotic tyranny that we can’t vote our way out of

rekorb in reply to M Poppins. | August 10, 2022 at 4:35 pm

How many bugs and hidden cameras did the FBI install? If I was Melania, I would never undress in that house again……or discuss anything of a private nature. In other words, the house has been rendered unliveable.

Danny in reply to M Poppins. | August 10, 2022 at 8:18 pm

We can’t vote our way out of it via “small government” (i.e. libertarian anarchist principles) but we could vote our way into trying to change things.

For example voting for regulation of social media to protect our ability to participate in the public square/avoid economic blacklisting in the markets that matter/have freedom of speech for our side in practice.

We have the ability to fight back via the ballot box; we need the presidency both houses of congress and Republicans who are willing to throw the Bush era out the window.

Despair is the first step to surrender, so yes be discouraged we are losing. Then slap yourself in the face, make yourself make painful concessions to reality (i.e. that libertarianism doesn’t jolly well work) and fight back. I don’t care how unimportant you are you could write a letter to state house member, or volunteer at a local republican campaign but do something.

And Bitch McConnell has still said not a word about this, and half of the RINOs are out there tut-tutting about ‘well they must have had a good reason’.

Actually McConnell did speak out: He said we need to send more aid to Ukraine ASAP.

The “cooler heads” withholding judgment. LOL.

CommoChief in reply to Pasadena Phil. | August 10, 2022 at 9:32 am

Withholding judgement based on what we know today is cowardice. Keeping a cooler head is refusing to be manipulated into an emotional reaction by the provocation. Let’s review what we know: the current political regime appears to be using the power of the state to punish the prior political regime which is also the frontrunner in the future contest to replace the current political regime.

The POTUS has a motive to misuse power v DJT. The AG has a motive to misuse power v DJT. The federal bureaucracy including DoJ and FBI leadership has a motive to misuse power v DJT. Given all those motivations and the very bad optics where’s the independent counsel or special prosecutor? Why is normal DoJ running this?

The warrant itself was almost certainly a pretext for a fishing expedition. Why was it signed by a magistrate and not a Judge given the clear political implications and unprecedented nature of this action? Magistrates basically do scutt work for Judges, they perform lower level tasks that would consume too much time from a Judge. This seems like a circumstance that would be appropriate to kick up to a Judge.

Add in the years long effort along multiple fronts to ‘get’ DJT by hook or by crook. Add in legacy media overt hostility. Add in the ‘resistance’ efforts of the federal bureaucracy. Then lets turn to examples of similar conduct among high profile d/prog that were either ignored, overlooked or excused away. None were prosecuted to the conclusion of a trial.

All in all, based on that incomplete list of things we know today we have plenty of information to form a judgment about these actions.

Anyone who can’t simply acknowledge that this is an unprecedented action that appears to be a textbook example of using the power of the state to target political opponents is guilty of cowardice, IMO.

A cooler head can make all those statements in a dispassionate manner and refuse to utilize incendiary rhetoric.

        The_Mew_Cat in reply to CommoChief. | August 10, 2022 at 2:34 pm

We now know the magistrate has made very anti-Trump statements on Facebook in the past. He was motivated.

Voicing your outrage is NOT a call for violence. It’s the only hope we have for scaring politicians into noticing that we are paying attention. It is alarming to witness how few Republicans had the smarts or courage to voice their outrage today. Thank God for Trump. He is doing a great job in primary season cleaning out much of the Uniparty deadwood and we now have a much better idea about who they are. I am very disappointed in Tim Scott for one. Makes great speeches and normally votes the right way but he is a squish in the clutch.

So continue with your virtue signalling. Nice to know that you would never stoop to being angry like us knuckle-draggers.

CommoChief in reply to Pasadena Phil. | August 10, 2022 at 7:09 pm

I don’t see how my statement above could be misinterpreted as anything other than objection to the events by anyone acting in good faith but it seems you need it simplified so here goes:
raid on DJT home in FLA = BAD.

Throwing a tantrum is what children do because they are unable to process and express emotions in a mature manner. Those ‘libs scream at the sky’ memes as DJT was inaugurated come to mind. What we need is calm, calculated responses that move the ball not unproductive emotional rhetoric.

If anyone hasn’t expressed their opposition to the raid with their Rep and Senators they should do so. When you do so please be calm and professional in expressing your opinion. It undermines our message when we play into stereotypes as the ranting, unlettered, hillbilly rubes.

Subotai Bahadur in reply to Olinser. | August 9, 2022 at 10:03 pm

Does anybody think that McConnell and the GOPe objects to this? I was saying last night that if we did not hear them screaming by morning, that they were in on it.

    Subotai Bahadur

Of course they are in on it. Even speaking up wouldn’t change that as they lie repeatedly.

The GOPe has been after Trump since 2016.

Had they stepped up and denounced this raid, yes, it wouldn’t have fooled anyone. But their outright refusal to speak up and denounce speaks volumes about how they are not even pretending anymore to be anything but a corrupt Uniparty speaks to how close we are to defeating them. The time has come to be outraged and make a run at them. They have run out of time. The raid looks worse and worse for them as hours go by.

And Trump has agreed to appear in court in NY to defend himself against corruption while the Jan 5 kangaroo court persists further embellishes the appearance of Trump persecution at the hands of a corrupt government.

We need to HOWL our outrage every day. Let’s see how long these rats stick together once the Titanic starts listing. Every man for himself! Women and children be damned!

I am proud of the down clicks I have been awarded the past 2 days. Too many squishes (It’s never EVER the right time to do the right thing!) among us. There will never be a hill to die on for them. In the end, they will just run away and hide.

Our government is one large organized crime operation, and McConnell is a giant part of it.

Dimsdale in reply to Valerie. | August 9, 2022 at 8:56 pm

So the J6 committee has morphed into the “Committee for UnAmerican Activities.”

Sounds about right. I guess our vaunted gubmint can’t complain about how the ChiComs operate anymore.

Milhouse in reply to Dimsdale. | August 10, 2022 at 2:34 am

So the J6 committee has morphed into the “Committee for UnAmerican Activities.”

With the emphasis on the word “for“.

Note that the original HUAC was the “House Committee on Un-American Activities”. It was against such activities, not for them. This committee is for them and engages in them.

I think Trump got busted for taking a stack of foil ashtrays Biden stole from McDonalds in 2009 when he distracted a Dwight Schrute-looking employee with a butterfly knife.
After swiping the ashtrays Diamond Joe proceeded to cut a hunk our of his right index finger while attempting to flip it closed.
The ashtrays had been taken as evidence in an insurrection against the then-VP and held without trial until Trump pardoned them.
Trump also reportedly had a working McDonalds ice cream machine for his and only his use…the nerve!

He has the same cell phone in August 2022 that he had in January 2020?

What a loser (/sarc).

Whatever it is may happen before the midterms. These corrupt authoritarians may see they are soon exposed. It’s not like there is no evidence. They aren’t too smart with these antics. They are repudiating themselves. The only thing they are good at is tearing things down. Bereft of values. It’s for our own good.

Didn’t members of the J6 committee telegraph all of this two or three weeks ago? They promised “more to come” before the midterms. I have to wonder if they were already aware that the raid was coming.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | August 9, 2022 at 9:13 pm

Something’s Happening Here:

The rebirth of the USSR in the form of the American Socialist Superstate. It’s been coming on since Barky slimed into office and brought some Indonesian political culture with him, and now Joetato, having seen how it’s done, has taken it to new levels.

He didn’t need to bring some Indonesian political culture with him. He brought the Chicago Machine political culture with him. How the Federal government is behaving now is how the Machine has ruled and operated in Chicago for many generations.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to JHogan. | August 9, 2022 at 10:54 pm

I have to disagree. Barky’s key was that he had no American sensibilities about him, at all. He had no connection to American culture and was free from any cultural constraints that stopped others, who hated America as much as Barky, from doing what Barky did. It was his foreign sensibilities that showed no respect for any of our institutions or traditions – which is why the Founders had put the “natural born citizen” requirement in to begin with – that really blew open the abuse of the federal government. We got our taste of a mini-Sukarno, which is what Barky’s first political aspiration was by his own admission.

Barky’s key was that he had no American sensibilities about him, at all. He had no connection to American culture

He only spent four years in Indonesia. The vast majority of his childhood and formative years were in America.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to Milhouse. | August 10, 2022 at 5:05 am

Yeah … just 4 years … from age 6 to 10. When he first started forming his deranged personality and cemented the deepest aspects of his world view. When his claims to have had his first political aspirations – in Indonesian politics.

Do you try to be a moron or is it just natural to you? Any American with even half a brain could tell that Barky had not one bit of American sensibilities about him. he knew nothing about America and the things he thought he knew were pretty much all incorrect or just plain ridiculous.

Rupert Smedley Hepplewhite in reply to Milhouse. | August 10, 2022 at 7:32 am

Not to mention Barry’s entire family was in the tank for communists.

M Poppins in reply to Milhouse. | August 10, 2022 at 10:36 am

his grandparents, who raised him in Hawaii, were communists. He was given over to indoctrination from a career communist, Frank Marshall Davis.

It’s obvious a priori that Trump is clean so there won’t be evidence. If the courts won’t see that the election if properly audited where it looks screwy, owing to standing or de minimis dismissals, apparently the Constitution wants it to be done in Congress in a real procedure rather than a mere ceremony that it alludes to. The Constitutional hey let’s check this moment.

Trump’s mistake was not internalizing that in America if you win an election by fraudulent means, you’ve won. You were outsmarted and just face it. So he didn’t get the sympathy that he expected. It doesn’t play well.

Nevertheless they won’t find evidence for the same reason, unless they plant it.

We are guessing here so let’s keep our minds open. For me, I keep thinking that Trump is the former president, he still has clearance to get top secret briefings, and it is likely that he has friends throughout government who are just as appalled as we are with what is happening. I am suspecting that Trump got tipped off (he issued his “mean” tweet announcing the raid before the media…. hello?) and was prepared for this.

This was an illegal raid approved by a known corrupt low-level judge and there is no evidence they found anything yet. They found 14-15 boxes Trump left there. Empty safe. Trump isn’t stupid.

In my mind, this like the Jeffrey Epstein island raid where they seized evidence and destroyed it. I believe they may know or believe that Trump has incriminating evidence that will blow away the Deep Swamp and top secret or not, once he releases it, it is no longer top secret.

This was just too dumb considering the timing for it not to have been an act of desperation. Now Trump is a shoo-in and everyone who follows him as a future. No one more than DeSantis. Knowing that it is almost certain that Trump will be president again in 2024 with MAGA Republicans in control, they didn’t stop to think that they would be arrested in two years.

Our day of widespread outrage has cast a “big chill” across the country where people are finally opening their eyes to see things as they are. Does McConnell believe that he will survive today? HAH! Plenty more of our enemies are having similar epiphanies. We are winning!

You come at the king, you best not miss.

“and it is likely that he has friends throughout government who are just as appalled as we are with what is happening”

Very very very few. The entire bureaucracy is stuffed with Democrat leftists from top to bottom who will work against any Republican President. It’s time to start abolishing entire departments.

You have no way of knowing that. You can bet the farm that there are Trump loyalists who are honoring their oaths throughout the government who are appalled at what is going on and would love nothing better than to get rid of the commies now in charge. His friends who continue to stand by him have contacts inside too. Why would they not only confiscate Scott Perry’s phone but do it the way they did? They wanted to know who he was in contact the past few hours, the insider network that foiled the raid, before he had a chance to erase them. They needed the information fast.

A few weeks ago, Durham had called for loyalists to step forward fast or they will be assumed to be part the conspiracy. The Trump patriots are getting close and time is running out. Trump is large and in charge and getting stronger as are his friends.

Something big really IS happening here but let’s not be willfully ignorant by blindly assuming Trump is stupid and ill-prepared. Trump is clever and bold and he is NOT friendless. There are too many among us on “our” side who refer to Trump as if he is just sitting waiting for events to close in on him. Really?

Trump has lots of important friends at home and abroad. Some of them are out in the open some are not. Both matter. The Swamp is very nervous and worried right now, Did McConnell look like someone who was having a good day yesterday? I wonder why?

Thing about clearances – there’s the required clearance – TS in this case. Then there’s ‘need-to-know’ and access to specific programs or items. A Top Secret clearance does not grant to access to everything that’s Top Secret. Lot’s of caveats.

However, in the classification world, the President is the original classifier, everyone else pretty much is a derivative classifier. He has access to any damned thing he want’s to see. I doubt the CIA agrees, but it’s not up to them. If the president says a thing is no longer classified, it isn’t. If he was smart, anything he has in his possession has dated stamps rendering the items unclass before he left office. And he ain’t dumb

CommoChief in reply to venril. | August 10, 2022 at 9:39 am

Slight quibble. The creator of the doc is usually the person who makes the original decision on the classification level. That level is then bumped up or down by their bosses.

The POTUS, during their term of office, can declassify whatever he chooses. He could also up the classification level of whatever he chooses.

bhwms in reply to venril. | August 10, 2022 at 10:29 am

CommoChief – Let’s be clear – this is about Original Classification Authority – the 15 or so individuals or positions who have been granted authority by the President in EO 12958 and its successor Orders. People/positions under those delegated Authorities have been given derivative authority to apply the original classification of created documents. True? But all that authority derives from the President – that’s what people mean when they say “the President is the original classifier.” At least that’s how I interpret what he said.

CommoChief in reply to venril. | August 10, 2022 at 11:55 am

As I stated, slight quibble based on the actual day to day, real world of classification. The creator of the doc, in actual practice, is who applies the original classification; in fact they are required to do so even to place one of unclassified.

The larger point is that it doesn’t matter which person sets the classification. A POTUS, during their term, can decide to make unclassified any document he chooses. As you stated DJT is a smart guy who has been around the block, has competent advisors and almost certainly has memorialized any declassification decisions he made.

I am a recently retired diplomat who had the highest security level the USG gives out, and I was a strong Trump supporter while at State. I assure you there were (and still are) many of us, but compared to the number of Trump haters we were far too few. We were very careful about speaking out because the Dems who wear their politics on their sleeves do hold many powerful positions at State, and if given a chance and regardless of what administration holds power will block advancement and key assignments based on one’s politics. Those Dem fanatics are known and can be weeded out, but it will take a ruthless bastard to do it.

You saw things and knew things. It doesn’t take many whistle blowers to bust an illegal operation. Keeping a low profile and quietly passing on information LEGALLY to a former president is very effective. I choose to believe this is and has been happening. I would think this would accelerate as more and more of you have to face yourselves in the mirror and make a decision. Either you are or you aren’t. There were lots of private individuals who risked it all while spying for George Washington. We will never know who most of them were but many of them have been discovered of the last 20-30 years. The path to glorious victory involved many heroes who never get credit and weren’t looking for it. Why would that be different today? I believe THAT is what has the Deep State panicking right now. They need to figure out how Trump is always one step in front of them?

      The_Mew_Cat in reply to geronl. | August 10, 2022 at 2:41 pm

I’m sure the Trump loyalists throughout the DOJ are very few, but not zero. The question is whether they are in the right places, and are able to communicate without getting caught. I’m sure any suspected Trump loyalist in DOJ is under very extensive surveillance, and that makes it incredibly hard to communicate covertly or in a timely manner.

Does he? That’s up to the current president. There’s been no announcement that his clearance was canceled, but there doesn’t have to be.

randian in reply to Milhouse. | August 10, 2022 at 3:06 am

There’s been no announcement that his clearance was canceled, but there doesn’t have to be.

If they’re going to claim that Trump was improperly and criminally in possession of classified material they darn well have to announce (at least to him) that his clearance was revoked. Courts should reject charges based on “gotcha” tricks like secretly revoking security clearances, but they’re so corrupt these days I’m not confident that would happen.

And how do you know that? You don’t. The chain of command is completely corrupted and paranoid right now. People are bullying to get their way. It is very dangerous to ship off a former president to exile and those who actually have to do the work know that. Some of them are patriots. Instead of being the “dot champion” around here, how about connecting the dots into a plausible narrative?

Could be that the Epstein Judge is helping them get back Epsteins little Black book that has all the names of the Democrats who bedded his underaged girls….WHY haven’t they been named yet, if Maxwell is rotting away in prison??

What’s happening is this…

Joe ‘Stalin’ Biden’s KJB, AKA Merrick ‘Beria’ Garland’s DOJ/FBI, and Liz ‘Freizler’ Cheney’s J6 kangaroo court, are still trying to find the crime. They long ago identified the man.

Their fishing expedition is taking much, much longer than they ever thought it would. They assumed that because they are all corrupt and everyone they know is corrupt that Trump must have done something illegal somewhere sometime they can use to rid themselves of him. Who knew Trump would turn out to be the most honest law abiding wealthy American citizen ever?

No one outraged by what they are doing should delude themselves into believing that much of the GOPe is not silently cheering the effort on. Except they may be getting nervous, aware that what is being done to Trump can now be done to them, with impunity, in the future.

However, they think it will all be worth it if peasants are put in their place and never allowed to make Trump POTUS again. Or put anyone like him in the WH ever again.

In the end they will frame Trump with fake charges and fake evidence if they must. And if that doesn’t work they’ll take ‘executive action’.

Colonel Travis in reply to JHogan. | August 9, 2022 at 11:02 pm

Yes, this is part of the same effort that began in 2016.

Deny him the election I – didn’t work
Impeach and removal – didn’t work
Deny him the election II – high five!
Deny him the election III – ???

What is happening is scary as hell. If they do this to Trump, they do this to anyone for wrongthink.

The next step would be assassinations. That is why we can’t keep “cooler heads” anymore. Outrage is a powerful weapon. The key is to be angry at the right people, for the right reasons, and at the right time. Let’s see now… outrage over a clearly desperate raid on the former and next POTUS’? No let’s wait for assassinations to start after the big clamp down on communications. Yeah, let’s wait until after they shut us down.

When I was a child, I taught myself to read in early first grade [got tested after that, because the book I was reading was 5th grade level]. and always loved history. Keep in mind the Cold War was on, so I read a lot about Russia and China under communism. This has a feeling about it like at the beginning of a purge under Stalin and Beria. Except we are dealing with a super state with means far beyond those of the Cold War era. I, too, have studied history and did get a chance to spend some time in the USSR during the Re-Stalinization attempt under a Bidenesque Leonid Brezhnev. That USSR was junior league to what we face now. except in the hands of this most fervent set of ideologues. We are all on the threshold of being Aleksandr Solzhenitsyns pre-gulag. So..yes we are left with your last sentence.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
      ― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn , The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

Going after a sitting member of congress like this actually raises the (already very high) stakes.

They would seem to be committed to a course from which they cannot afford to deviate or fail.

“Just the News reported last month that Trump ordered the declassification and release of a binder filled with sensitive FBI documents on Jan. 19, 2021, but the Justice Department never complied.”

“There’s obviously a full-on DOJ-FBI effort to get Trump on something.”

Geez, what was the first clue?

I mean, did you miss russia/russia/russia? They DOJ/FBI have murdered people, falsified evidence, misled the courts with false evidence, withheld evidence, abused any reasonable standard of probable cause, and on and on and on.

Personally, I’m out of other cheeks to turn.

One day, decades ago when I was in the Army, my platoon leader and one of the platoon’s staff sergeants were having a philosophical discussion. Lt Bolton said in reply to something that one should “turn the other cheek.” Sergeant Davis replied, “Sir, Jesus Christ turned the other cheek and they nailed him to a fucking cross.”
I will remember that as long as I live.

Who owns that site? In our present times, is it a site for a petition, or to gather names of those who are not in compliance with State-approved thinking?

Why didn’t they just get a warrant about J6 docs though like they did in all those other cases? Im not sure that’s the gambit.

Semper Why in reply to james h. | August 10, 2022 at 6:49 am

You do need to articulate which crime you believe was committed in the warrant when you try to convince the judge that evidence for that crime would turn up in the search. Much easier to claim that Trump still has documents than it is to claim that Trump conspired to overrule an election and kept evidence of that on paper, in a resort, 1500 miles from where he supposedly conspired.

Plus, if you use the same BS excuse for everything, people start to notice.

Please stop with the “They’re trying to provoke us” whining.

They’re not trying to provoke us. They’re trying to silence and ultimately eliminate us.

Look Professor, just like you and a fair number of others here, I have the Aliyah option. But what good is that going to do with a Marxist America and a nuclear-armed Iran that such an America supports.

As I said yesterday we can’t wait until they put us in boxcars and gulags until we decide that these are not provocations but existential threats to us?

CommoChief in reply to Eric R.. | August 10, 2022 at 9:51 am

The Professor is offering up a warning, whether you choose to ignore the advice and act in emotion v reason is up to you.

Think of it this way. You are in a relationship and your partner puts in cameras the begins provoking you to record your response. Will you resist the urge to become emotional and instead remain calm but resolute?

Keep in mind how you react will be part of what determines the future outcome in any proceedings stemming from the event. Will you allow yourself to be manipulated into an angry rage? Will you throw a lamp? Yell and scream profanities? Will you put hands on your partner? Set their clothes ablaze?

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Olinser in reply to CommoChief. | August 10, 2022 at 12:06 pm

Obviously you don’t, but you also don’t just sit around and do nothing, which is exactly what the RINOs are doing.

In that situation you acknowledge that they are out to get you (obviously giving the benefit of the doubt that you aren’t abusing them), that they are simply trying to screw you in an upcoming divorce, and you immediately contact a lawyer, serve them, and separate them from you to give them no further opportunity to screw you.

You certainly don’t sit back and do nothing and simply say, ‘well I won’t let them provoke me’, while letting them continue to do whatever they want.

CommoChief in reply to Olinser. | August 10, 2022 at 7:23 pm

Removing yourself is a rational not emotional response to the situation. Which is what I am advocating. Our opponents are hoping that we will respond to provocative acts. Is that hope limited to a march that gets a bit out of control as Jan 6? Nope.

They want to see increased incendiary rhetoric online. They want to see us make actual or even vague statements along the lines used by Maxine Waters. As to ‘letting them do whatever they want’; in the real world what are our practical options to prevent a repetition at DJT other residences? Not really any, so we will have to learn to endure until we can achieve our ends via the ballot.

Barry in reply to CommoChief. | August 10, 2022 at 1:14 pm

      “act in emotion v reason”

Yea, cause only you and those that think like you are capable of reason.

Bullshit. Your thinking is the same as those loaded on german cattle cars in the 1930’s. Real reasoning.

CommoChief in reply to Barry. | August 10, 2022 at 7:40 pm

You and I see what is happening and where it may lead us. We seem to view our position on the historical timeline a little different. I believe we are a year or so prior to the Boston Massacre. You seem to believe we are in the days immediately following Lexington and Concord or beyond.

I live in a rural county in a rural red state with a well, two stocked ponds, a garden, an orchard and a green house. Clear fields of fire and limited avenues of approach. Paid for home and vehicles. No debt. Fully stocked, redundant everything. Have 47 months of ground combat experience on multiple continents.

I take our current state of affairs very seriously indeed and have made a series of rational decisions to mitigate the future possibilities. Have you? No trains for me thanks, I’m happy in retirement and work doesn’t make one free.

Great Chief. You think you’re a freaking islander. While I don’t have your combat experience I have made preparations to face a societal failure.

Where does that leave your fellow Americans?

You are ignoring the facts at hand. No need for me to reiterate the state of the country and the corruption that is endemic at the highest levels.

When they come they will come in overwhelming force, and you will not be able to withstand them. Your island will crumble and they will drag you to the cattle car. It’s the way every totalitarian regime acts.

We stand together, or we will all perish.

“Revenge is a dish best served cold” is good advice. Trump blew it by creating schedule F before the election. He should have put that effort on hold after he lost. Now the Deep State knows what will happen to them if he ever regains power, and they have no choice but to fight tooth and nail.

        “Trump blew it…”

He didn’t “blow” it. We did when we allowed a marxist cabal to take over the country. Quit pretending Trump is a savior that let you down.

That’s the only solution possible and has been kicked around in public policy discussions for a while. The next non d/prog POTUS is going to have to do it or something similar to get anything done and preserve the gains.

Star Trek reference noted, and raised.

Remember the Star Trek episode “Galileo 7”? Spock and others were marooned on a planet by a non-functional shuttle craft. Enterprise looked for them as long as they could, but had to leave without finding them. They got the shuttle into a temporary, decaying orbit, but Enterprise was already too distant to detect them. Spock flushed the warp nacelles, Enterprise detected the emission, and returned to save everyone.
Later, on the bridge, Kirk confronted Spock and accused him of resorting to an illogical act of desperation, a human act. Spock countered, saying that when an act of desperation is the only option, it becomes logical.

I’m a nerd. I fully embrace it. I watched Star Trek reruns and movies. I played D&D, read Asimov, Heinlein, Herbert and Tolkien in HS. But was also an athlete and had lots of other things going on so when y’all geek out about the number of the episodes it goes over my head.

That said I do remember that episode but by your description not the dang number. 😁

Progressive GESTAPO is working overtime. Just what are they searching so hard for??

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Too bad Obama’s boy unaMerrickan Garbage never heard of that.

smalltownoklahoman | August 10, 2022 at 7:25 am

They are trying to stop Trump’s 2nd term any way they can. By hook or by crook as the old saying goes. Probably going to be crook i.e. manufactured “edivance” because they’ve been examining everything about his life for how long and haven’t made anything stick?

“The Democrats are seizing power — and they don’t care if you notice now.” – Emerald Robinson

The leftists rarely reverse course, their normal MO is to press forward, no matter what, because they get away with it. At this point I would not be surprised to see wholesale arrests of Republican senators, congressmen, governors, etc., a declaration of martial law and a suspension of the fall elections. They won’t arrest Lindsey Graham, Cocaine Mitch and their ilk, Lindsey will go on TV and harrumph about the impropriety of it all, but not much else will happen. This raid, and now this phone seizure are tests, to see how much they can get away with. And it’s going splendidly for them. Talk about taking back Congress is delusional at this point, there will either be no election, they will steal it as necessary or they will ignore the results and arrest those who disagree. It’s just a question of how much fake legitimacy they want to project, and how much water the media will carry for them.

    The_Mew_Cat in reply to jimincalif. | August 10, 2022 at 3:20 pm

Cancelling an election is a big step that would be blatantly unconstitutional, and any attempt to extend the expired terms of the House would probably be unconstitutional as well – the House would have no members on Jan 3. But they can game the election by methods similar to used in 2020. What if an emergency precludes in-person voting, and happens too close to the election for anyone to request mail-in ballots if you haven’t already done so? What if the emergency precludes use of the mail with too much radioactive fallout around, and only a phone app managed by Google can be used to vote? What happens if the election is held normally, but a new virus super variant is unleashed around Thanksgiving or Christmas and a nationwide lockdown and total ban on interstate travel is imposed? Only those members who are already in DC on Jan 3 will be able to convene in the House and Senate? What if they arrest all members of opposition media before the election so their message is the only one that gets to swing voters? There are lots of possibilities on how they can game an election.

Oh no, the criminals would never do something “blatantly unconstitutional”.

I sometimes wonder where you folks have been for the last 30-40 years.

Steven Brizel | August 10, 2022 at 10:24 am

The left is engaged in the intimidation by a variety of means of anyone who raises any issues and concerns about the end running of the Electors’ Clause by courts and the evidence of fraud in the election itself

I think in the end they (Democrats/Biden) are shooting themselves in the foot.

Their poisoning of Trump’s “brand” with the constant propaganda/moral panic campaign worked. They might be able to beat him in 2024 if he ran.

They are doing everything to stop him. By doing that the one person who they could beat, is eliminated.

Now if Pence gets the office, he’ll do nothing (Like Bush 2 did.) but DeSantis is not so forgiving.

If Hunter Biden and associates are rounded up, do you think they’ll turn on or protect Joe Biden? I think he gets arrested and tried for corruption.

That could open the door for MORE prominent Democrats to be investigated and/or tried for corruption or other things.

They are opening the door for this. I hope it goes that way.

If dirt on Joe that can’t be ignored comes to light, he will be forced to resign. His replacement (Harris, if she hasn’t been replaced by that time), will pardon him. No investigation. No trial. No “open door.”

Danny in reply to DaveGinOly. | August 10, 2022 at 4:02 pm

Congressional investigations aren’t criminal investigations, he absolutely can be investigated if pardoned on grounds of preventing a repeat performance by similar kinds of politicians.

What can’t happen would be a replay in that scenario would be the fascistic DOJ investigations because there can’t be a criminal investigation.

Aw, the poor CCP plant doesn’t like the fact that he was flat out wrong 100% about the Pelosi visit, all the while claiming those of us that said don’t stand down were war mongers.

You continue to lie. It’s what you are paid to do.

You want me to shut up? Then go away.

Danny in reply to Barry. | August 11, 2022 at 3:51 pm

Oh I was wrong about the Pelosi visit?

Well the United States government significantly weakened Taiwan by actively stating it does not support Taiwan independence, the Chinese Navy is starting drills for a blockade of Taiwan, and we do not know what Chinese-Russian secret trade looks like right now but I promise you it wasn’t the tepid hesitant support Russia had the day before the Pelosi trip.

So what was lost was Taiwan significantly weakened, China readying a blockade and Ukraine weakened

What was gained was a picture of Nancy Pelosi

Sorry but how the F does a braindead jingoistic fascist like you think that is even close? And no a Nancy Pelosi trip followed by the entire United States Government actively saying it doesn’t support Taiwan does not strengthen them it weakens them.

The worst consequences didn’t come but there was consequences and they were bad.

Now will you please tell me what we gain from another picture of Nancy Pelosi?

You have yet to answer why a Nancy Pelosi photo-op is worth ANY consequences? You must really be head over heels in love with that old lady it is creepy.

The rationale for the recent hysterical rush by the Dems to ram through draconian gun control schemes starts to become clear. These efforts will fail in the courts, but that takes time. And maybe the Dems don’t plan to wait long enough for that to happen.

Message from Kevin McCarthy to “cooler heads” Republicans:

We are winning. You aren’t helping by quivering in fear in the shadows. This is no time to be the “grey man”.

Hey, newsflash idiot, IT”S NO SECRET. McCarthy and 90% of the Republican party are leftists just like you.

The people that Trump is endorsing and winning in the primaries are scaring you commies.

Democrats special agent? You are a paid commie doing everything in your power to elect more marxists just like you.

By the way, when does the CCP invasion of Taiwan begin?

This is not directed at you Phil but is only an auxiliary message but we won over the Republican Party for that to matter we at least need the congress for that to have even the slightest relevance so if you don’t like it get off your behind and do something. Your local Republican candidate needs volunteers so go do it.
