Residents of Philadelphia Say City is Turning Into a ‘War Zone’

Violent crime is a persistent problem in cities all over the country. In Philadelphia, things are getting so bad that some residents describe the city as a war zone.

Why is this being permitted to continue?

Philly Residents Sound the Alarm on the City Turning Into a ‘War Zone’Residents in Philadelphia are growing frustrated at the lack of public safety as the city continues to see an increase in gun violence.One of the latest incident occurred in West Philadelphia where a shooters in car fired around 100 rounds at a group of individuals near a recreational center where children were playing at this week. A total of five people were shot in the incident.”Something has to give…anywhere you go, it’s a problem, but Philadelphia is getting out of hand,” Carmela Truell told CBS Philly. “It’s to the point I want to take my son and go.””Sound like Beirut out here yesterday and I never been to Beirut but it sound like Beirut out here yesterday…exactly like a war zone,” Jamar Muhammad, who was nearby, said about the shooting.Muhammad said he has no plans on moving away from West Philadelphia.

Shooting at Birthday Party Inside Philly Home Leaves 4 Teens HurtA birthday party inside a North Philadelphia home ended with four young people shot, the latest young victims of Philadelphia’s ongoing gun violence problem.The gunmen fired on the first floor and even down in the basement of the home along the 2800 block of Bonsall Street, near West Somerset Street, around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Philadelphia Police said.Police arrived to the home to find the teenagers shot, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.A 15-year-old girl was shot in the back and leg; a 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg; a 17-year-old woman was shot in the leg and a 16-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet on her leg, police said.All four shooting victims were hospitalized in stable condition, Small said.The gunfire took place inside one of the girls’ home.”It was a birthday party for a 17-year-old inside of that property and we believe there were about 15 to 20 teenagers and young adults inside,” Small said.The youngest of the people in the home was just 11 years old, Small said.

People must demand that Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and DA Larry Krasner take action and clean up the city.
