Twitter to Ban Use of ‘Groomers’ After Pressure From Liberal Outrage Mongers

Since leftists control most popular social media platforms, when their woke acolytes demand they get more aggressive with the thought and speech policing of conservatives, those platforms respond accordingly by tightening the reins and dropping the hammer on the allegedly offensive accounts, often on the ones that are influential and have large followings.

Such was the case earlier this week thanks in part to an aggressive online campaign started by the left-wing frauds at Media Matters for America (MMFA) and inspired by earlier actions taken by Reddit to crack down on the use of the word “groomers” when it is being used to describe, well, people who sound an awful lot like groomers.

According to Media Matters, allegations of grooming against educators—especially those who are using platforms like TikTok to openly brag about indoctrinating children with LGBTQ-themed sexualized content—by popular Twitter accounts like Libs of TikTok and ConceptualJames have led to a rise in violence against members of the LGBTQ community because according to them, “groomers” is a “slur” and code-word used by the right “to brand gay and transgender people as child molesters, evoking an earlier era of homophobia.”

Media Matters presented scant “evidence” of the alleged epidemic of violence against LGBTQers that they claim started after the eye-opening TikToks of leftist educators were amplified on other social media platforms, perhaps because the evidence doesn’t exist according to a media analysis done by conservative commentator Matt Walsh.

Nevertheless, between the pushes from MMFA, unhinged blue check transgender activist and self-proclaimed Harvard Law clinical instructor Alejandra Caraballo, and pressure for comment from the left-wing website Daily Dot, Twitter is taking steps to more aggressively crack down on the use of the term:

“We are committed to combating abuse motivated by hatred, prejudice, or intolerance, particularly abuse that seeks to silence the voices of those who have been historically marginalized. For this reason, we prohibit behavior that targets individuals or groups with abuse based on their perceived membership in a protected category,” Lauren Alexander, Twitter’s health product communications lead, said via email.“Use of this term is prohibited under our Hateful Conduct policy when it is used as a descriptor, in context of discussion of gender identity.”Twitter also said that it is aware that there are issues with how it enforces this rule.“We recognize we have more work to do to ensure this content is addressed in a timely and consistent manner and we continue to invest in our automated tools and people teams to identify and address gaps in our enforcement.”

In reality, the definition of “grooming” is “the action by a pedophile of preparing a child for a meeting, especially via an internet chat room, with the intention of committing a sexual offense.”

For example, what disgraced former Lincoln Project co-founder John Weaver was accused of doing was grooming young men online.

What this is, of course, is another on a long list of silencing tactics used by the left to quash opinions they don’t like, something we’ve seen most recently not just from social media mobs but also from the people who stoke them for a living – the mainstream media, and “reporters” like the Washington Post‘s Taylor Lorenz.

Most infamously, Lorenz doxxed Libs of TikTok in April to try and shut her up and then whined about it when the tables were turned on her.

Interestingly, Caraballo and MMFA’s Ari Drennen were both called “groomers” facetiously by ConceptualJames in two different tweets. Daily Dot reported the one on Caraballo to Twitter, which did not result in a suspension. But the one to Drennen did get him suspended, which Drennen boasted about:

In essence, MMFA and Caraballo have pushed Twitter to make the change in how they approach “grooming” allegations because they got their feelings hurt. Isn’t it nice to have that kind of power?

Caraballo has also been on a revenge campaign to destroy Libs of TikTok ever since they called “her” out for calling for conservative Supreme Court Justices to be “accosted” after they overturned Roe v. Wade in a tweet that Twitter said did not violate their TOS:

Here’s Caraballo on Friday partnering up with MMFA to get the Libs of TikTok Shopify account suspended or banned:

In response, the LoTT account has a new promo code for fans to use to purchase their merch:

As they say, the best answer to people calling for speech to be suppressed is even more speech.
