Woke Military Struggling to Reach Recruitment Goals

Woke Military Struggling to Reach Recruitment Goals

“Every branch of the U.S. military is struggling to meet its fiscal year 2022 recruiting goals, say multiple U.S. military and defense officials”

Now that the U.S. Military is focusing on issues like social justice, equity, white privilege, and LGBT concerns, they are having trouble meeting recruitment goals.

It turns out that many of the people who would normally volunteer to risk their lives for the country aren’t as interested in being lectured on their race or taught about pronouns.

NBC News reports:

Every branch of the military is struggling to make its 2022 recruiting goals, officials say

Every branch of the U.S. military is struggling to meet its fiscal year 2022 recruiting goals, say multiple U.S. military and defense officials, and numbers obtained by NBC News show both a record low percentage of young Americans eligible to serve and an even tinier fraction willing to consider it.

The officials said the Pentagon’s top leaders are now scrambling for ways to find new recruits to fill out the ranks of the all-volunteer force. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks consider the shortfall a serious issue, said the officials, and have been meeting on it frequently with other leaders.

“This is the start of a long drought for military recruiting,” said Ret. Lt. Gen. Thomas Spoehr of the Heritage Foundation, a think tank. He said the military has not had such a hard time signing recruits since 1973, the year the U.S. left Vietnam and the draft officially ended. Spoehr said he does not believe a revival of the draft is imminent, but “2022 is the year we question the sustainability of the all-volunteer force.”

The need for recruits has become so desperate that the army has even dropped its requirement for a high school diploma.

Tim Meads reports at the Daily Wire:

U.S. Army Drops High School Diploma Requirement As It Struggles To Find New Recruits

The United States Army has dropped its requirement that recruits must have a high school diploma or a G.E.D. degree in an apparent attempt to increase the number of troops.

On Thursday, the Army announced the changes. Recruits must be 18 years old and eligible for a job in other areas of active duty and they also must score at least a 50 on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) to test their academic ability, according to Military.com.

The military outlet also noted, “The Army and its sister services have scrambled this year, offering increasingly generous benefits and policy tweaks in an effort to improve recruiting numbers. The Army has hit 40% of its recruiting goals this year, with the struggle to fill the ranks seemingly so grim the Defense Department reduced its planned total force size because prior recruiting goals were out of reach.”

Last week, the Army also relaxed its regulations regarding the placement, size, and number of tattoos that recruits may have.

The plot of the 1984 film Police Academy is now playing out in America’s national defense.

Well of course they’re struggling to recruit. They put a couple of woke pussies at the top, and there is the tranny ‘Admiral’ nonsense. WTF?

The two pieces of sh*t running our military (Austin and Miley) are on the level of that other piece of sh*t who is the commander in chief: Biden and his handler, Obama.

The ‘woke’ military’s goal is to turn the military’s guns on Americans.

Having served 24 years in 3 different branches of service, I would not recommend anyone joining the military. This is not the work of the current office holders, this started back when I joined (1978) under Jimmy Carter, and his shoestring budget for the military. I remember buying my own toilet paper for the barracks because we couldn’t get any. When Reagan came into office we received a pay raise to get us to the poverty level. Under Clinton we had Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell which allowed gays to serve. Obama got rid of that policy and now we have open gays serving. The bottom line is Democrats slash the defense budget and Republicans increase the defense budget. Why come in under a Resident who is going to slash the budget?
The ‘woke’ military won’t turn their guns on Americans, the first time they receive return fire they’ll run like scared rabbits because the military is full of people who don’t love the country like I and a lot of other Americans do.

If I decipher your screen name correctly we may have been in the same barracks (Camp Gieger?). If so, remember the winter they wouldn’t turn the heat on in the barracks because they couldn’t afford the electric bill?

“You’ve got sleeping bags, use them.”

Somehow I don’t see that happening in today’s military. Run out of field training funds and ammo, sure. Run out of creature comforts and CRT time – never.

You did decipher my handle correctly, you’re the first ever to do so. I was lucky and was married and didn’t have to live in the barracks at Geiger, although our trailer in Richlands was just about as cold. Semper Fi Mac. Hq and Hq Company, 22 MAU (83-84).

I suspect that’s true (in gun control debates they brag about how the military would make short work of “deplorables” with AR-15s) but they may find the reality not to their liking. The kind of people who want the military to shoot their fellow citizens who aren’t sufficiently “woke” are generally not the kind of people willing to do the dirty work themselves. I don’t think some of them realize that the most effective soldiers on the tip of the spear are the very “deplorables” they hate so much.

I’ve had this debate with a number of progs, and they all just stared back blankly when asked if they have any knowledge of guerilla warfare tactics or the history of ‘superpower militaries’ (including the US), when faced with these tactics.

Let them try to build a military around mentally ill men who are only enlisting to get “the operation” for free.

My guess is that the Pentagon next hires the Disney CEO to help with recruiting.

Potatus Brandon just promised a greater US military presence in Europe to counter Russian:

https://www.breitbart.com/news/nato-chief-says-russian-war-in-ukraine-most-serious-crisis-since-wwii/

They have no idea what is heading their way. Possibly the US 1st Rainbow Army, 1st Fabulous Division.

The real problem here is they are spending literal years in elementry/middle school and high school teaching children that they should hate their country. Who is going to be willing to fight for a country they hate?

Dathurtz in reply to kyrrat. | June 29, 2022 at 4:25 pm

Are you willing to fight and die for this government? I’m not.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to kyrrat. | June 29, 2022 at 5:48 pm

How many white kids will fight for a country that tells them they are evil?

It’s worse: most people even entertaining military service are either from the midwest (and normal) or from the big cities (dysfunctional morons).

The ‘normals’ are thinking better than putting themselves in the charge of idiots like Austin, Miley and Biden/Obama.

The dysfunctional morons from the cities cannot be turned into soldiers a military can rely on.

They couldn’t throw out trained military personnel fast enough if the didn’t take the Fake Vax, Pushing hatred between races with their wokeness.
It’s their own fault

For those of us who are veterans and proud of our service this is sad. I joined the Navy in 1978 and it was bad then. But we didn’t have to deal with the nonsense that’s going on now. I really can’t recommend military service for today’s youth.

1977-1981 here. I was considered too fat to be competent at my job.

    Screw ‘em.

I joined USAF in 1978, really thing race relatios were fairly good if for most part keeping separate friendships, but work environment was no a issue.

    navyvet in reply to Fat_Freddys_Cat. | June 29, 2022 at 8:08 pm

    Navy 1966-1970 (yes, I’m old).

I notice none of the current crop of highers have much in the way of combat awards. It appears we are repeating the staffing practices that obtained prior to WWII.

Which would be less worrying if we had a crop of young Americans to join the ranks and fight for us should the need arise. What we have now is just scary and horrible, a generation taught to hate and disdain America, capitalism, and everything we hold dear (faith, family).

Gosport in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | June 30, 2022 at 5:42 am

Once upon a time even the raw material you describe wasn’t a problem. The instructors and the system in boot camps could turn most lumps of teenage wastrel into a fighting man in relatively short periods of time.

Unfortunately, it’s now the military traditions which keep that capability alive that are being terribly undermined.

One of theses days we are going to pay a terrible price for making our infantry (for instance) diversity centered instead of training them to locate, close with, and destroy the enemy by means of fire and maneuver, and to repel the enemy assault by means of fire and close combat.

We are going to lose people, lots of people, and lose battles as well until we learn that lesson. At that point we can only hope we have leadership with the integrity and conjones to act and the strategic time and space to reorganize and retrain our surviving units.

Until then, don’t be surprised when good service members and potential recruits vote with their feet to avoid being cannon fodder in our current diversity experiment.

On a somewhat related note, the last WWII era Medal Of Honor recipient passed away yesterday.

Then Corporal (retired as a CW4) Hershel “Woody” Williams, USMCR.

“Where do we get such men?” has become a more than just a rhetorical question.

(Army 1998-2018) Ya can’t promote folks you run out on a rail. They are stripping our military of combat experience. Doesn’t ANYONE remember the clusterf*ck we had going to war in 2001?

Don’t feel too down. For the same reasons, I can’t recommend college to them, either.
Keep your head down and learn a survival-enhancing trade.

” US 1st Rainbow Army”
***
For an historical FWIW, The “Rainbow Division, 42nd infantry fought WWI, WWII and is still active. It was the division that liberated Dachau. Unfortunate the the word “rainbow” has been repurposed for other meanings.

It looks like ASVAB scores are percentiles, so a 50 is 50th percentile; the median score if all of some target population were to take the test.

So the military wants you to be above the middle. How many people above 50th percentile won’t even achieve a high school diploma or GED? What is the target population they want to make eligible with this change — illegal aliens perhaps?

If they’re dropping the diploma requirement and replacing it with such a meaningful ASVAB score cutoff, that’s the opposite of wokeness.

kyrrat in reply to artichoke. | June 29, 2022 at 9:46 pm

Ooh I remember that test now. Our whole high school took it as one of the many standardized ones. (1978 high school) their senior year. The Navy was annoyed when they contacted me after I scored so high in mechanical/analytical. 5ft tall 100lb girl was not what they had in mind. 🙂

coyote in reply to artichoke. | June 30, 2022 at 8:57 am

Opposite of wokeness [in this case] = desperation.

Over time, we have learned some lessons. The most important is that politicians don’t fight wars; soldiers do. Politicians’ lies cause soldiers to die. No one wants to die a meaningless death. People like Milley and his boss couldn’t appear more meaningless if they had the word tattooed on their foreheads.

It would seem that the only people who would volunteer to serve under them would have to be in the bottom of the barrel brain-wise. It’s the old Groucho Marx joke that he wouldn’t want to join a club that would have him as a member.

Three broad groups at play in reduced recruiting:

1. Need to serve (job prospects)- military service is a way out for many. They trade a commitment to serve for training and skills that are valuable in the civilian world and/or because they can’t find a job without that training.

Currently young folks can get a job and secure training. There are many govt programs to train people for all sorts of high paying jobs available. Many Corp will also foot the bill so an alternative, free training path exists.

2. Want to serve – Some families have a long tradition of service in the military. They join and serve one enlistment because of that. Some stay an entire career. The current injection of CRT/equity among other issues doesn’t align with the traditional values held by these folks becoming a reason to break tradition and set their own path.

3. Willing to serve – This is where the Veteran community comes into the equation. When young people ask Veterans about service they usually ask some variant of ‘would you do it again today?’ In previous years the answer was yes. Right now the answer from many of us is no. Not because of what we experience but because we see the current climate in the military as corrosive. The sales term is prestige referral and that has been largely withdrawn.

“Every branch of the U.S. military is struggling to meet its fiscal year 2022 recruiting goals, say multiple U.S. military and defense officials”
China continues to get what it paid for from Biden.

“I want to learn about ‘white rage’ ” Milley is a manifest disgrace and in a rational nation would be swiftly strung up by his nuts, then drawn and quartered, for treason.

Boasting to a fawning Leftist media about his rank insubordination and his brazenly undermining the chain of command in indefensibly contacting his Chinese counterpart, to reassure him that if President Trump was to order an attack on China, Milley would give him advance warning.

Milley and his vile, “woke” Dumb-o-crat ilk are narcissists and traitors.

JimWoo in reply to guyjones. | June 29, 2022 at 6:44 pm

Milley would risk the lives of his fellow citizens and soldiers to curry favor with a chicom regime that hates us. He should be court martialed at the least.

It’s just reality. There’s a limited supply of gay, tranny gender-confused folks who can’t define what a woman is.

Maybe they ought to think about the slogan that was posted on a wall at the Air Force Academy, “Bring Me Men”

I’m retired Navy and proudly served during Vietnam and Desert Storm. I would NOT recommend my grandchildren consider military service under this dysfunctional regime as it consists of incompetent political suck ups aiding and abetting a totalitarian mental midget.
That’s not enough to get me “red flagged” is it?

Don’t be too sure of that, I retired in 2009 and the first thing I did was put a F@$K Obama bumper sticker on my car. I was doing contract work at the same facility I retired from. A couple of old biddies complained about my sticker. I was called in and told if I didn’t remove it I would be returned to active duty and court martialed .

diver64 in reply to Old Navy Doc. | June 30, 2022 at 4:24 am

Army here and I have a daughter in. She is counting the days to retirement and is very disappointed at what is going on. Used to love the military, now it’s just a means to an end.

“2022 is the year we question the sustainability of the all-volunteer force.”

Someone actually said that.

The problem is in the leadership! Maybe if they had some, people would be more willing to follow!

Subotai Bahadur in reply to irv. | June 29, 2022 at 5:43 pm

Which leads to an interesting thought. Remembering that the current regime could not tell the truth about anything . . . what would happen if they try reinstating the draft. Or press gangs.

    Subotai Bahadur

They would say they had no choice and anyone who disagrees is a racist. The subsequent riots would be President Trump’s fault and there would have to be a very aggressive congressional investigation into it.

Yes, the woke leadership is part of it.

Label yourself a Patriot on social media and you’re put on a watchlist as a potential terrorist. Just who is it that enlists?

And a big factor that dares not speak it’s name in any news article? The vaccine requirement. Nobody actually cares about all the other vaccines. There’s a chance, miniscule, that they’ll harm you. And they all prevent disease. The recruits for a lot of the technical fields are high functioning autists. They understand numbers. And know that at their age the vax is likely more harmful to them then the actual disease it does not prevent- and they know it doesn’t prevent it. They’re not stupid.

Just in time for Biden to send more troops to Europe. A Europe who refused to meet the minimum requirements for defense spending under NATO agreements.

I’m willing to bet the Chinese face no such recruitment challenges

Military considers belief in patriotism to be a sign of terrorism.,…who the hell do they think wants a career in the enlisted ranks?

Maybe they can recruit by setting up a booth at the staging of La Cage Aux Folles

michael94065 | June 29, 2022 at 9:55 pm

What parent in their right mind would ever send their son or daughter off to serve in the current US Woke Military? Given this, I suspect 70%-80%+ of all new recruits will be Spanish speaking only and as they will have no love for Americans they won’t hesitate to shoot them when ordered.

When the next shooting war starts they’ll call for the sons of bitches because you current set of Obama Brass Button Bastards are going to get a lot of our currently serving people killed if they don’t.

    diver64 in reply to michael94065. | June 30, 2022 at 4:22 am

I’ve got one in now a few years from retirement. She didn’t want the vaccination nor is all in on the woke nonsense but doesn’t want to throw a number of years away so is silent and putting up with it. She told me that she is far from alone in this and the trouble with signing anyone up is coupled with the people leaving, retirement or otherwise leaving incompetent woke nuts in charge.
We are in serious trouble as a nation, folks.

Not addressed yet, a pay scale that can not support a family, the most recent pay raise was well below the inflation rate with no plan to address the issue. There are also numerous issues with housing for active members, issues that occur when being relocated multiple times where the family is uprooted and the spouse has to leave a job and find new employment.
Now troops are seeing more deployments, often for longer periods of time.

NEXT: culling of prison populations for recruits.

Shades of Nazi Germany…

People that are most likely to join the military are also the ones not interested in sitting in a classroom learning pronouns and being told they will be disciplined if they don’t do it right, showering with transsexuals or being forced to take a “vaccination” that doesn’t work. People that support the woke nonsense don’t join and overwhelmingly hate the military more than the police. Nothing mysterious there but the goal of the woke mob is to destroy this country and the military is the last domino to topple in that quest.

Invasion of Ukraine is a wake-up call (not a woke-up call). The relative dearth of kinetic operations over the last couple of decades made it seem like war was a thing of the past. Like the UN dream was real and humanity had evolved past all that. So the military was transformed into an instrument of social justice — no need to actually defend the country when there’s no war anymore, right?

Clearly the regime either doesn’t get it or is on board with America being defenseless. It will take vision and wisdom to chart a safe and sane course for the years ahead

I served in the active army from 1998 to 2018. There is not a single benefit, bonus or raise in pay which would get me back in. (Not to mention that the benefits promised to me upon retirement are more smoke and mirrors than anything else – have to wait six weeks to see a VA doc because I’m stopping breathing when I sleep) Austin and Milley do not take care of their Soldiers and are more than willing to sacrifice them at the alter of politics. They just got rid of the education requirement to join and still can’t make quota. I wonder what’s next? Oh, wait! I know! Waivers for felony convictions. Who remembers the quality of troops we got in 2005/2006? Admittedly studies showed that folks enlisting with moral waivers received commendations for bravery at significantly high rates than those without, but they also committed misconduct and were court martialed at a higher rate.

Philosopher1 | June 30, 2022 at 10:12 am

A powerful military in a country that considers masculinity toxic?
My study of the Philosophy of History showed that it is common for a society that questions and even repudiates the values and habits that made it become powerful and great…to be nearing the end of its life cycle.

Who, in their right mind, would join the military today with the type of political and military leadership we have today, which by the way is no leadership at all…..

I was lucky to have mostly served under Reagan, and some under Bush. I cannot imagine how any traditional-minded Christian would consider today’s military to be worthy of joining. The President is world-class idiot who badly bungled the Great Afghanistan Bug-out. The idiots running the DoD and JCoS are committed to wokeness and are doing maximum damage to our national defense.

As I like to joke, the Village People have removed “In the Navy” from their playlists because today’s Navy is too gay even for them. Sadly, it’s not far from the truth.

So not only is the military having the worst recruiting year ever, even with 50K bonuses. They are kicking out 40,000 national guard troops and reservists because they are unvaccinated. If you are intentionally trying to destroy the military, is there anything different Milley and Austin would be doing?

Recruiting isn’t the only problem. Retention is brutal right now. The military in all its branches (reserves and National Guard included), will not meet their retention goals for FY22, even with bonuses and other incentives. Of course, it doesn’t help that the reserves and National Guard are essentially kicking out 40,000 service members for not getting the jab! Absolute insanity!!! If you wanted to intentionally destroy a military, this is how you do it.

When President Trump or Governor DeSantis wins the White House in 2024, his first order of business should be to fire CIA Director Haspel, FBI Director Wray, and, every single general, admiral, commander, etc. who has actively promoted, propagated and supported the Dumb-o-crats’ utterly subversive, cancerous and anti-American “CRT” propaganda and assorted anti-U.S. venom.

So, I’m supposed to send my kid to the Military where they are teaching that the Guy next to them is no longer their “brother in arms?”
