West Africa: At Least 100 Gunned Down in Apparent Islamist Terror Attack

“Nearly 5,000 people have died over the last two years in Burkina Faso because of violence blamed on Islamic extremists.”

More than 100 people were killed in an apparent Islamist terror attack in the West African country of Burkina Faso. Unidentified gunmen reportedly went door to door, gunning down unarmed civilians in a killing spree over the weekend, the media reports on Monday said.

The local authorities placed the official deal toll at 55, but Reuters and other news outlets put the actual number of fatalities between 100-165.

While the government and the media reports did not specify the actual motives behind the latest massacre, the region has seen a spate of similar jihad terror attacks in recent years. “Attacks linked to al-Qaida and the Islamic State group are soaring in Burkina Faso, particularly in the north,” The Associated Press noted.

The Muslim-majority country with a sizable Christian population is amid an Islamist mass killings and ethnic cleansing campaign. “Nearly 5,000 people have died over the last two years in Burkina Faso because of violence blamed on Islamic extremists. Another 2 million people have fled their homes, deepening the country’s humanitarian crisis,” the UK daily Guardian reported.

Reuters reported the latest massacre linked to Islamic terrorists:

Armed men killed at least 100 civilians in a rural district of northern Burkina Faso close to the border with Niger over the weekend, a security source said.

No group immediately claimed responsibility, but the assault happened in borderlands where militants linked to al Qaeda and Islamic State are waging an insurgency. (…)

There were differing accounts of the death toll. The security official said on Monday at least 100 people had died. A local source who did not wish to be named said the provisional tally stood at 165.

Burkina Faso’s government spokesman, Lionel Bilgo, said 50 bodies had been found so far but that the figure was not final. Soldiers were going house to house looking for bodies, he said.

Violence linked to Islamist insurgents has killed thousands and displaced millions across Burkina Faso and neighbouring Mali and Niger since 2015.

Burkina Faso, a former French colony, has a population of around 20 million, of which over 60 percent are Muslims and about 20 percent Christians.

The small landlocked African nation, roughly the size of Colorado, has witnessed a rise in jihad terrorism since the formation of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) in 2015. The ISGS owes allegiance to the global Islamic Caliphate created in Syria around that time. The Islamic State-affiliate is also active in the neighboring countries of Mali and Niger.

Africa in the Cross Hairs of Global Jihad

From Sudan in the north to Mozambique in the south, Sub-Sahara Africa in recent years has seen an emergence of terrorist groups with links to ISIS, al Qaeda, Hezbollah, and other international terrorist outfits and movements.

The most notorious among these terror groups has been Boko Haram based in Nigeria. The ISIS-affiliated terrorist outfit, with a strength of around 15,000 jihadi fighters, has killed thousands and displaced millions of people in western and central Africa.

Christians and non-Muslims across Africa are being forcefully converted to Islam or driven from their ancestorial lands. This multi-pronged jihad offensive is creating one of the biggest humanitarian crises on the African continent.

It is worth noting that Western liberals and mainstream media, otherwise obsessed with race and color, have been deafeningly silent on the mass killing of Africans at the hands of jihadis.

it’s just their culture to kill each other over religious and tribal differences. Who are we to tell them to stop?

/sarcasm off

No need for the sarcasm tag. It IS what they do and who they are.

We have our own tribal wars here. We call the tribes “gangs”.

    You are wrong.

FACT: Only one side is killing people

Islam gives Christians & Jews three choices (1) convert, (2) pay the Jizya and be subjugated, or (3) Death.,

The Christians are not killing anyone.

After the rise of humanity, people spread east and west out of Africa, then north. Due to harsh living conditions, those people evolved. The end result of this was Caucasian’s and Asian’s, both much more intelligent than their ancestors. It is not surprising that the dull original human line is attracted to the brute Mohamad’s cult. They need to be led to valley of everlasting peace, and each given their reward of 72 virgin pigs.

Tell them enhanced background checks, red flag laws, gun free zones will end all that.

“”deafeningly silent on the mass killing of Africans Christians at the hands of jihadis.””

Fixed it for you.

Soak it in, Gents: because this sort of slaughter is coming to America.

Except we will if necessary fight back. I looked at NATO rounds, decided that a 9mm Carbine was a better choice. I have both HP and steel jacketed ammo. I hope it doesn’t need to be used, and I am moving to a state where it will be less likely to be needed, but it would be foolish to not have the ability to defend one’s self.

Soak it in, Gents: because this sort of slaughter is coming to America

It will hit Europe and the UK (along with mass rapes and enslavement) first.

I don’t understand this. Haven’t we been told over and over that mass shootings only happen in the USA, and not in countries with common sense gun safety regulations? Bourkina Faso has strict gun laws, so this alleged massacre is unpossible. It must be that right-wing disinformation we’ve heard so much about lately. Blame Trump.

No, no, you see, these aren’t murders, this is a conflict. A conflict between armed people and disarmed people. Conflicts don’t count.

Ahhh….but these murders are nothing….they do not exist to the left.

It’s worth noting that Burkina Faso has restrictive gun laws, to the point that gunpolicy.org estimates that essentially ALL firearms in civilian hands are illegally owned.

Burkina Faso just needs more gun laws to defeat the gun violence.
Sincerely, Mexico

Look, as an enlightened woke person, I know that it’s not Islamists that are at fault here – it’s their guns. If the government simply confiscates all guns, and disarms the population, then the violence will stop.

Maybe they would also benefit from a Ministry of Truth and some free hormone-blocking, healthy snacks.

Like Nigeria and the USA, there is always government complicity in these hate crimes. CRT and BDS are nothing but government sanctioned race and ethnic cleansing…..taught in every institution and major corporation in the country. Only sexual deviancy is less important.
