The left is making a hard push for their social justice agenda in medicine. It’s a little scary.

Duke professor under fire for refusing to attend ‘Maoist’ diversity training
A professor at the Duke University School of Medicine is under fire after he blasted a mandatory equity training as “Maoist political propaganda” and refused to attend.
Bryan Cullen, a professor of molecular genetics and microbiology, drew the ire of several doctoral students after he announced to his department that he would not take part in the medical school’s mandatory training put on by the Office of Institutional Equity, according to a report by the Duke Chronicle.
“My initial reaction is I refuse to engage in left-wing Maoist political propaganda workshops and, as a tenured faculty, that is my choice,” Cullen reportedly said in an email reply to the announcement of the training.
Several doctoral students included on the email chain quickly denounced Cullen, with one calling the professor out for “a history of xenophobic, homophobic and racist behavior.”
“Duke constantly talks about creating an inclusive environment but continues to support faculty members like this,” one student tweeted. “THIS IS NOT OKAY AT ALL! Transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia or ANY form of discrimination is never okay!”

Agreed. Duke is a left-wing echo chamber, and this guy is one of very few with the guts to stand up to them.

This nonsense permeates med school training everywhere. I work at a major teaching hospital and most of the young doctors-to- be proudly wear pronoun buttons and speak Diversity. It is from the top down as beaucoup bucks have been devoted over the past few years to hiring several “Equity” consultants even as general employees were laid off. ( I guess it isn’t inclusive enough to have just one.) So far the “Implicit Bias” training isn’t mandatory. The day it becomes mandatory will be my last one there. It would be laughable except for the actual damage this has done to critical thinking, treatment priorities, and the general decline in the quality of care as a consequence of education devoted to “social justice” at the expense of genuine medical knowledge. In addition the AMA in one of the most Woke institutions in existence and I stopped subscribing to all my Nursing magazines when they started highlighting health care in Cuba as a model system and promoting Michael Moore movies. Obamacare’s continued failures ( not to mention Obama’s current Third Term ) might just kill any chance for personalized, effective health care in favor of mediocre, ideology-driven standards which prioritize one’s skin color over one’s lab results. There are days I am genuinely terrified.
