Democrats Already Trying to Position Themselves for 2024

“It looks like Warren, Newsom and some of the others are looking to run down Biden and the party, which is unhelpful”

https://youtu.be/JQxlBErbj4s

Have you noticed that Elizabeth Warren keeps putting herself in front of every new current thing? When Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter was the hot story, she put herself front and center, then did the same thing with abortion.

Do you think this is a coincidence, or is it more likely that Warren is trying to remind Democrat voters that she is standing by, ready to jump in when they drop Biden?

It’s not just Warren who’s doing this. Bernie Sanders has recently said that he is prepared to run again.

This report from NBC News is very revealing:

Top Democrats jockey for 2024 presidential campaign position

In recent months, Sen. Bernie Sanders’ political team has noticed a marked shift in the 80-year-old former presidential candidate: His campaign fires are burning hot.

On Thursday, Sanders, I-Vt., will travel to Pittsburgh to headline a rally for Summer Lee, one of a half-dozen hard-core progressives he has endorsed in contested Democratic congressional primaries. He also plans to meet with Starbucks workers in the city to show solidarity in a store-by-store unionization push…

All of that might be unremarkable if Sanders were shadow boxing himself against the backdrop of an inevitable Biden re-election bid.

Instead, he is just the most openly ambitious of an emerging field of Democratic hopefuls who are positioning themselves to run if Biden doesn’t, more than a dozen Democratic insiders said in interviews. Most of them weren’t authorized to speak on the record or insisted on anonymity to avoid upsetting one or more of the potential candidates.

The set of would-be contenders is widely viewed as including Vice President Kamala Harris, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, according to Democratic sources…

The top adviser on a past presidential campaign said potential hopefuls are inflicting damage on fellow Democrats, most notably Biden.

“It looks like Warren, Newsom and some of the others are looking to run down Biden and the party, which is unhelpful,” he said. “It’s like they’re on the Titanic and they’re sending out for more icebergs.”

In Warren’s case, people have noticed her increased visibility.

Axios recently reported:

Elizabeth Warren grabs center stage

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is eclipsing President Biden with endorsements and, at times, as the Democrats’ leading voice on major issues, including abortion and canceling student debt.

Why it matters: The progressive’s prominence is pressuring the incumbent president and White House to move left. It’s also raising questions about her ambitions, especially as the Democratic Party faces electoral apocalypse this fall and questions about whose voice — and issues — are best to rebound.

– While Warren has ruled out another campaign for president in 2024, her high profile would buttress any bid should Biden himself not run for a second term.

Warren will deny she is running in 2024, right up until she is running in 2024.

The minute it becomes clear that Biden can’t or won’t run, Warren and other Democrats will all scramble to fill the void and become the party’s standard bearer.

Or Senate Majority Leader when the Revolution really gets going?
Fauxahontas is IMO is as close to a Stalinist we have, she would send you to the Gulag real quick if she could.

Has she purchased a bottle of beer for her 2024 commercial? That was a really funny one last time she ran.

Purchase? Ha ha. “I don’t have to purchase. All of this land belonged to my ancestors pale face. Now give me wampum for fire water.”

    CDR D in reply to r2468. | May 15, 2022 at 11:21 am

“I think I’ll have me a beer”, she said. Grabbed one from the fridge and wrapped her lips around the bottle’s neck like Kamala did Willie Brown.

Peabody in reply to CDR D. | May 15, 2022 at 12:12 pm

I don’t know if she will do that again. It took two security guards 30 minutes to pry it loose last time. Perhaps this time she will light a cigarette or toast with a glass of cheap wine.

“I think I’m gonna fetch me a nice cold brewski, like those peasants of the proletariat enjoy, after a day spent toiling in the mines.”

This farcical episode underscores Fauxcahontas’s revolting and intrinsic narcissism, inauthenticity, phony posturing and shallowness.

Kamala has risen as high as she can using her skill set. Dr Jill won’t let her anywhere near Joe. Bernie you could become a three time loser. So much to look forward to.

Democrats trying to take positions…just red and more red. I have a position in mind for them, how about flat on the ground.

The more you see of Waren is a reminder of why you don’t want to see more of Waren.

IMO the 2024 d/prog nominee will be one of the following:
1. Biden
2. Newsom
3. Sanders

Biden may be talked out of running but if he (or Jill or other puppeteers) decide to do so then the d/prog will either reject a sitting POTUS or unite behind him.

Newsom checks the boxes; young, telegenic, Gov of a large State, big donor base to fund a campaign in particular home field advantage with tech and social media companies.

Sanders doesn’t seem to slowing down despite his age. The Bernie wing has been shafted twice in a row for the nomination. Third times the charm? If he gets shafted again by d/prog establishment will his supporters turn out again to loyally vote for the d establishment nominee? That’s a real risk. IMO the d/prog would do well to let Bernie have his shot and get wiped by either DJT or DeSantis, then the establishment can tell the loud far left ‘you had your chance and blew it, so shut up’.

    4. Michelle Obama

CommoChief in reply to Peabody. | May 15, 2022 at 11:23 am

No, she has zero desire to enter the political arena and subject herself to either a rigorous campaign schedule or the anything goes, mud slinging and outright abuse she would be subjected to.

If she could be crowned without a campaign and without being subjected to all that I have no doubt she would take the job. At root she’s a grievance grifter and is enjoying the fruits of her success; why risk all that and subject yourself to slings and arrows? She lacks the emotional maturity to withstand the onslaught and she knows it, that’s why she won’t run.

gonzotx in reply to CommoChief. | May 15, 2022 at 11:28 am

She doesn’t need a rigorous campaign. Alzheimer Joe proved it all can be done from home… in the basement no less…

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | May 15, 2022 at 11:43 am

Will the American people stand for another campaign with the candidate hidden away? Even if so, once she declares her candidacy she becomes fair game for attack ads. She exposes her adult children to attacks and of course the light bringer himself.

I don’t see the upside for a thin skinned person who has never before been willing to subject themselves to criticism. She has a good thing going. She will continue to be mentioned as a possibility which strokes her ego with no cost. Enter the arena and the costs are high. See Colin Powell.

You’re forgetting that most people who voted for Biden expected a middle of the road guy, not a facist puppet of Obama/Soros/Xi.

America doesn’t have an appetite for another Obama, though that Obama does have an appetite – for food, not pressure to perform.

Peabody in reply to CommoChief. | May 15, 2022 at 12:24 pm

Come on now. Quit being mean. Give poor Michelle a chance. Remind her of the silver lining. She can run on her husband’s shadow. As Hillary famously said, “I can run because of who I married. If I had not married Bill you would’ve never heard of me. But I did. So there!”

CommoChief in reply to Peabody. | May 15, 2022 at 1:06 pm

In Michelle Obama’s case the silver lining already exists. She has accrued generational wealth to pass on. She has a huge estate where she lives. She has the left and media constantly striking her fragile ego. She knows she is far better off as a ‘bridesmaid than a bride’. She will limit her own chance because she will not subject herself and her family to the public scrutiny and acidic arrows deployed in modern campaigns.

Peabody in reply to Peabody. | May 15, 2022 at 1:32 pm

If she ever needs money she could always appear in advertisements for Star Wars products.

I doubt Biden has two more years of tread wear with whatever brain issues he has. However, given that Obama’s statement, “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f*** things up!”, has been a flawless predictor so far – even reaching so far as baby formula – it is hard to see him being the candidate under any circumstances.

Sanders would probably be like Nixon-McGovern against a DeSantis, but closer against Trump, as Dem turnout would be on steroids.

2024 really should put “the old folks” out to pasture and be a race of the next generation, like Newsom-DeSantis, two governors of leading states, with established records. IMO Trump should adopt the “elder statesman” role, perhaps like Eisenhower.

      CommoChief in reply to jb4. | May 15, 2022 at 12:01 pm

Assuming Biden maintains his current ability to be trotted out to read short statements and doesn’t deteriorate further, he could run. Same playbook of a hidden candidate as 2020. Can he win? Very doubtful.

I have no issue with DJT being the nominee as long as he earns it in the 2024 primary. He isn’t an incumbent and doesn’t deserve the usual deference an incumbent POTUS receives.

IMO, DeSantis is a better candidate in 2024 than DJT. Younger which given Biden, age will be an issue. Effective big State GOV; demonstrated results in achieving legislative victories v leftist culture war. He is a veteran which is important to some voters.

National name recognition because of the constant national media’s failed attempts to run smears; he has been collecting media scalps at every turn, which makes the media hate him even more. Residents of other States are looking at DeSantis and want to know why their Gov can’t or won’t follow his lead.

At the end of the day I would support either DJT or DeSantis in 2024. I prefer DeSantis at the moment but the race hasn’t begun. DJT turns 76 in June and there is no assurance he will be alive in two years though the seems healthy enough. I prefer to let it play out before deciding who to vote for.

        jb4 in reply to CommoChief. | May 15, 2022 at 1:46 pm

If Biden has Alzheimer’s, there is no way he will be able to run in 2024. However, I have long believed that what he has are the long term consequences of two brain surgeries for aneurysms in 1988, one of which had burst. “Who knows” with respect to the rate of deterioration from that.

          CommoChief in reply to jb4. | May 15, 2022 at 9:48 pm

Whatever his specific ailment the result isn’t good. However, if he levels off and doesn’t deteriorate physically or mentally he or his puppeteers are likely to run him again in 2024. Sadly they will continue to use a broken and at times very confused man to further their own ends. Many of the same d/prog voters will help them. It won’t be enough to win, IMO, but they may not have a better option in 2024 except the status quo.

Ditch Biden and they the ditch party unity consensus. The far left Bernie wing will demand their turn while the d/prog establishment and Wall St wing will seek a less radical candidate.

Newsom scares me because there are plenty of women that get all dreamy-eyed at the sight of a male model or tv/movie star. Think George Clooney and the despicable Matt Lauer. How many wives and mothers would do anything to be in their arms during the height of their (and other pretty-faced men’s) popularity?

Newsom will be the final nail in this nation’s coffin. (Of course there are plenty of others circling the pine box with hammers and nails while their compatriots are administering the poison to the already failing body.)

      Sure he thinks he’s JFK.

Obama once referred to himself as “the gipper.”

“There seem to be a lot of comparisons of late, between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama. Throwbacks to a better time and wishful thinking on the part of the left.

But when Obama begins to refer to himself as the “Gipper” and does so completely out of context, that demonstrates just how low and out of touch his administration really is as it concerns both history and the people.”

        quoted from wizbang.com

Newsom looks good, but when he opens his mouth, he is a terrible speaker. Much like that other CA bozo, Harris.

    Hillary Clinton.
She reactivated the Clinton Global Initiative for a reason. She is running. Her fight with Kamala and rematch with Trump will be brutal.

      JohnSmith100 in reply to The_Mew_Cat. | May 16, 2022 at 2:17 pm

I would especially enjoy Hillary’s publicly brutal campaign and seeing both B’s brutalized as a result of their actions.

smalltownoklahoman | May 15, 2022 at 11:22 am

They know what what many on the D side don’t want to publicly admit just yet: Biden is not having a second term. Whether it’s due to age & failing health, mortality, voters rejecting him, or some combination thereof they know if the Dems want to keep the White House in 2024 it’s going to have to be someone else besides Biden.

2smartforlibs | May 15, 2022 at 11:35 am

Posti0ning is not what they are doing they are still saying Trump did it.

For the Democrat hopefuls, the one who secures the Geritol sponsorship has a great advantage. Kowabunga!

Huh … looks like Fauxcahontas uses the same eyebrow specialist as Pelosi.

The RINOs are jockeying for position too. Ada Hutchinson quietly thinks he’s the most qualified candidate, but don’t anyone tell him he’s got no chance. Chris Christie – is he a RINO or a rhino – also think he’s got a shot and doesn’t realize how despised he is. Mike Pompeo thinks he’s the smart man’s candidate, but if Trump runs he’d better change his name to Judas or Pontus. I’m sure there are more in the RINO herd.

    jb4 in reply to WestRock. | May 15, 2022 at 3:19 pm

Christie was a lot better governor for NJ than the current Murphy, or Newsom for CA. Also, had Trump not listened to son-in-law Kushner, who IMO got CC dumped from running Trump’s Transition Team because he had put Kushner’s father in prison, CC would have been AG, a job he wanted, and Trump would still be President. I like Pompeo, for VP, but DeSantis and another white guy probably won’t do it these days.

      CommoChief in reply to jb4. | May 15, 2022 at 6:24 pm

Good points. Kushner may be in favor of his father in law being POTUS but he is definitely not a member of the populist right.

Okay, Fauxcahontas…fire up a Newport or a Game blueberry scented blunt wrap and show you are one of the “regular people”.
We will wait…

Noting carefully that all these predictions have an underlying base of assuming that the votes in the Primaries are honest, cast and counted honestly, and reported honestly;AND similar conditions hold for both the Presidential, House, and Senate general elections. Unlike the 2020 cycle. And that makes the additional and possibly unwarranted assumption that they in fact do happen and are not cancelled due to some terribly convenient for the Left “Emergency”.

Watch the primaries; both for Executive and Congressional Branches. If any of them appear to be rigged, the whole process is. Any interference with the General Election too, from mail-in to other interference as has been laid out from 2020 means that things are not honest and the country is going to have to come face to face with the fact that we no longer are under a rule of law made with the consent of the governed, nor are we a Constitutional Republic with a democratic format.

Will something be done, one way or another, right away? No. Americans are too optimistic. It will take a lot of reality therapy. But one way or another whoever lives in the United States will eventually do something about it. It will not be pleasant, and may well not work. But that is what we will be reduced to.

Mazzie Hirono is going to battle it out with Fauxcahontas Warren for the title of the Dumb-o-crats’ most manifestly insufferable, noxious, miserable, obnoxious, hectoring crone-demagogue-misandrist.

“Have you noticed that Elizabeth Warren keeps putting herself in front of every new current thing?”

How serendipitous. I just got a new truck.

“Do you think this is a coincidence, or is it more likely that Warren is trying to remind Democrat voters that she is standing by, ready to jump in when they drop Biden?”

Publicity stunts are politicians’ versions of Daisy Dukes and streetcorners.

During Warren’s primary run could not carry Massachusetts, the state she represents.

Bernie, who reminds people of an angry or crazy grandfather, is eighty and will be eighty-two in 2024.

Why do we keep electing individuals that are past their prime or lack common sense?

Somebody’s going to have to kneecap Kamala. WHEN (not if) Joe keels over or is forced to resigned “for health reasons”, Kamala is the incumbent, will have some time in office to create a record and will control patronage and the party machinery. She won’t just be another candidate among many. Bad as she is, she isn’t measurably worse than the rest of them. At which point, enter Hillary. 😀

    The_Mew_Cat in reply to JDeMartino. | May 16, 2022 at 1:03 pm

Hillary has reactivated the Clinton Global Initi9ative. She running in 2024.

I think her fight with Kamala will be epic to behold. blood and fur all over the floor. And then she will have the ultimate rematch with Trump. The 2024 Rumble in the Jungle.
