BLM Privilege: Federal Prosecutors Seek Lenient Sentences for Molotov Cocktail Lawyers
It’s a good thing these two didn’t walk through the Capitol on January 6th. They’d currently be in jail, rather than home confinement, and no one would be asking for leniency on their behalf.
The two lawyers accused of throwing a Molotov Cocktail at a police car during the George Floyd riots, pleaded guilty last October and faced up to ten years in prison.
Now federal prosecutors in New York are seeking a reduced sentence for the pair for some reason.
Danielle Wallace reports at FOX News:
Feds seek dramatically reduced sentence for NYC ‘Molotov cocktail lawyers’ in 2020 attack on NYPD vehicle
New York City federal prosecutors are seeking a dramatically reduced sentence of about two years for two Brooklyn lawyers accused of firebombing an NYPD vehicle during riots that erupted after George Floyd’s death in May 2020 as part of a new plea deal disclosed in court documents Tuesday.
In a letter filed Tuesday, prosecutors for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York said Colinford Mattis and Urooj Rahman, both attorneys from Brooklyn, agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit arson. Under the deal, prosecutors agreed to recommend an 18- to 24-month sentence, but a judge could still impose the maximum sentence of five years behind bars.
That’s down from the government’s previous plan to see a 10-year sentence with terrorism enhancement, discussed in an October 2021 Brooklyn federal court hearing during which Mattis and Rahman each previously pleaded guilty to one count of possessing and making a destructive device.
The original indictment included a 40-year mandatory minimum count and Mattis and Rahman risked a punishment of life imprisonment, according to N.Y. Daily News. The duo spent weeks in jail following their initial arrest on May 30, 2020, but have been on home confinement for most of the past two years.
The New York City Police Benevolent Association released this statement in response:
PBA Statement on Reduced Sentence for ‘Molotov Cocktail Lawyers’
Federal prosecutors are reportedly seeking a reduced sentence for two attorneys who are pleading guilty to firebombing an NYPD vehicle in Brooklyn in 2020.
PBA President Patrick J. Lynch:
“There is absolutely no justification for lowballing the sentence for an anti-police terrorist attack. It’s bad enough that these dangerous criminals have been allowed to sit at home for the past two years. Handing them a below-guidelines sentence would give a green light to other anti-police radicals who seek to advance their cause through violence. The judge must reject this request.”

Ridiculous. But, we’re used to lenient sentencing being imposed upon Dumb-o-crats because of their political affiliation, consistent with contemporary prosecutorial standards. Birds of a feather, and all that.
At least these idiots will be disbarred in New York State — I believe being convicted of a felony is grounds for automatic disbarment, there. Unlike the D.C. Bar’s laughable and indefensible kid-gloves treatment of former FBI attorney, Kevin Clinesmith, who was given a suspension of several months.
I am surprised the prosecutors took time off from their fishing for “crimes” by President Trump.
At least these idiots will be disbarred in New York State
Uh, no. They have Special Privileges, and have already earned their spurs as Social Justice Warriors. Just the folks to enter into government careers to fight against the evil Ultra-MAGAs.
Of course. I wasn’t implying that these idiots won’t be able to find prominent positions and lucrative employment, elsewhere, in the media sector, or, as attorneys licensed in another jurisdiction, or, in the federal government. That goes without saying, given the fact that Dumb-o-crat lawbreakers from Andrew McCabe to Kevin Clinesmith and others, have managed to find gainful employment.
But, as a factual matter, a felony conviction does result in automatic disbarment in New York. It’s minimal payback, sure, but, better than nothing.
I agree, they should have their licenses to practice law lifted permanently. and restricted from filing in all 50 states.
If only the police they attacked had been on the school board.
Compare to J6….
I guess the lesson is ‘burn it down…’
When you lower standards to the Obama-level, any idiot can be shoved through law school and out the door.
Given the dumbing-down of the Bar exams across the country, Obama-level idiots like these two (who should be parking cars or stocking shelves at Walmart) become lawyers, usless for anything other than burning cars instead of parking them.
Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho
Affirmative action’s the way to go
[repeat, endlessly]
We should vote harder, guys. Danny, give us a pep talk about Mitch and MCarthy riding to the rescue.
The turtle and McCarthy ride to the rescue – with knives behind their backs.
Warning: When they ask you, “Have you told anybody else about this?” the correct answer is always “Sure, shitloads of people!” Then grab something shieldy and run like hell.
Next time dont’ walk in the Capitol…just lob eco friendly Molotovs over the fencing instead.
Wouldn’t matter. It’s not what you do, but who you are that counts.
1) They are lawyers, which places them mostly above the law already.
2) They are ethnically not white, while being lawyers, which reinforces that.
3) They are working/acting for the Left in an attempt to overthrow the country and Constitution, which adds to their immunity.
4) They committed an act of deadly violence against law enforcement, which adds to their immunity.
5) The only thing that could make them more immune would be if they could claim LBGTQRSTUV status.
The original sentence could have been 40 years to life. It has been reduced at every step based on ideology and the factors above. It is now being reduced at the request of the prosecution AFTER conviction to 18-24 months. Further, you absolutely know that they will get credit for the jail time before they got bail, and then you can bet that they will get credit for two years of home confinement, The de facto sentence will be immediate release.
Further, while the rules of the New York Bar Association may say the felony conviction means disbarment, does anybody here not believe that it is likely that in the name of “Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity” that the rule will be waived?
Question for the Gentle Readers: How does the phrase “equality under the law” relate to the concept of “legitimacy”?
Subotai Bahadur
You forgot the “and they are ensured a job at some Leftist college upon graduation from the Vertical Bar College, with a hefty salary, no teaching load, and a possibility of a overpriced book deal.’
Further, while the rules of the New York Bar Association may say the felony conviction means disbarment, does anybody here not believe that it is likely that in the name of “Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity” that the rule will be waived?
Won’t be waived. It will simply be ignored like all laws & rules are ignored that inconvenience leftist democrats.
How does the phrase “equality under the law” relate to the concept of “legitimacy”?
All things being equal we would all have equality under the law. But as it is, some people are more equal than others. How then, in the midst of such illegitimacy, can there be legitimacy in anything our government does?
There can’t. “Fairness” has been bastardized by the left to encompass social “justice,” which implies Soviet-level applications of special treatment and subjective judgement for good apparatchiks. Equality has been replaced by “equity,” the former eschewing racism and the latter flat out requiring it, and the press and academia are swallowing it like free beer.
Orwell was a modern day Nostradamus.
All I have to say about your comment is “two thumbs up”.
Since no one else wants to say it:
it appears today that there are two levels of punishment for perpetrators:
one for the blacks, who can do no wrong in the eyes of the law and one for whites.
There: I’ve said it. Prove me wrong (if I’m even allowed to display this on the site)!
The greatest punishment for these two idiots is to assign them a very hard case.
Why? It won’t be them going to prison for inadequate representation.
Nah. It’s one “justice” system for regular people and a “Just Us” system for the elites and their foot soldiers.
Seems to be what the left always gets. And since you’re on the subject of the capital why is it none of these morons on the left understand it that the capital has been attacked several times in the last century by the left and just this week they were in causing problems again that fit the left description of insurrection
Absolute garbage by the prosecution.
I always put myself down as a minority on forms now
Just to f-k with them
And maybe to get needed medical care cause that sh!t is real and already happened to me.
I got Covid and was denied monoclonals, I’m old white had cancer diabetes and I wasn’t qualified.. my Dr said, we’ll it’s probably because someone more immunologically compromised than you needed it.
I laughed and said “no, it’s cause I’m white”
He didn’t know what to say
Cause he knows I was right
So now I’m Hispanic
Some might say a “white hispanic”
I say hispanic
F-k them, I’ve been a nurse for 40 years and I can’t get treated? F-k you.
In this one comment, gonzotx, you have captured all that is wrong, even evil, about this racist “antiracist” training. That it has seeped to completely into medicine (and law) is extremely alarming.
Agreed. Racism now permeates our society in order to “fight” racism.
One finds racism under every rock when that is where you live.
Some, Select [Black] Lives Matter invaded neighborhoods to intimidate families and residents. Deja vu.
Baby Lives Matter (BLM)
What kid of neighborhood would let them leave uninjured?
Kind
We have had since Barky started it, a two tier justice system one for Leftists and the other for the Nots.
They will be back to working on Law Licenses very soon.
Prediction: Judge sentences them to two years with credit for time served. Since they’ve been under home confinement for that period, they walk immediately.
you get more than 18 months for peacefully touring the Capitol
Next question… are they disbarred?
My guess, no.
Why didn’t the article Dox the federal prosecutors who crafted this miscarriage of Justice?! Let’s give the Left a dose of their own medicine!
Well it isn’t like they started a fire in a compound which killed almost 80 people or anything.
They should simply plea they are affirmative action lawyers and did not know fire bombing a police car was illegal.
Time will tell if they are disbarred
