Former Obama Adviser David Axelrod: “People Don’t Believe” Biden’s Talking Point About Putin and Inflation

“People don’t believe that either, they know that they had inflation before this. They know that gas prices were high before this.”

This week, the Biden administration tried to sell a new talking point about inflation and gas prices that blamed Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Despite the liberal media’s embrace of “Putin’s Price Hike,” no one else is buying it.

Even Obama’s former adviser David Axelrod has admitted this is a losing strategy. People know that prices have been going up for months, long before the invasion of Ukraine.

Hanna Panreck writes at FOX News:

David Axelrod slams Biden’s ‘Putin Price Hike’ talking point: ‘People don’t believe that’

David Axelrod, former chief campaign strategist and senior advisor to former President Obama, criticized the White House messaging surrounding inflation and increased gas prices during his “Hacks on Tap” podcast Tuesday.

“Then now, they’ve overcorrected and so for a few days he was saying, you know, everything is Putin’s price hikes, inflation is Putin’s fault,” Axelrod said. “People don’t believe that either, they know that they had inflation before this. They know that gas prices were high before this. They haven’t dialed this in quite right yet. You can’t blame everything in the economy on Putin.”

“What should be blamed on Putin, should be blamed on Putin,” he continued.

President Biden, members of the administration, and other lawmakers have sought to blame increased gas prices and inflation on Putin. White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield used the term “Putin Price Hike” in a tweet where she noted “gas prices have been going up — up 75 cents since he began his military build-up.

Listen to the audio below:

This makes Axelrod the third member of the Obama administration to call out Biden over this.

Larry Summers recently said something similar.

Bloomberg News reported:

Summers Faults Biden for Tying Inflation to Putin, Company Greed

Former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers criticized the Biden administration’s emphasis on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and on price gouging by companies in ascribing causes for the surge in U.S. inflation.

“This is a consequence, fundamentally, of an overheated economy,” Summers told Bloomberg Television’s “Wall Street Week” with David Westin on Friday, referring to the latest data showing the consumer-price index soared the most in four decades.

The jump in commodity costs since the Russian invasion will mean inflation won’t likely decelerate for months, according to Summers, a paid contributor to Bloomberg Television and a Harvard University professor.

“If higher prices of gasoline are the price of freedom, it is a price that this generation of Americans should pay,” Summers also said. “And frankly it’s a small price compared to the price that’s being paid in Ukraine or the price that past generations of Americans have paid.” He added that he’s been “gratified” at companies recognizing “moral obligations” amid the conflict.

Before that, former Obama economic adviser Steve Rattner made this comment on Twitter:

If Obama’s people are calling out Biden over this, what do Democrats think is going through the minds of average Americans?

“Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus” false in one thing, false in everything

I think a lot of these former Obamozos are just mad that they didn’t get the call to join Obama 3.0 in office.

That said, bring on the slinging…at least, they aren’t lying like the puppet in the WH.

Inflation with shared responsibility and redistributive change, then sanctions and progress. It has been over 32 trimesters since the Biden/Maidan/Slavic Spring. They don’t care about Ukrainians on either side of the coup or anyone else other than as points of leverage.

Biden is obviously not in control. Handlers are running things. From what I’ve seen so far, they aren’t any brighter than their drooling dementia patient.

The handlers want the US to suffer economic destruction and are ratcheting up the pain so we will accept the proposed relief of The Great Reset.

We’re not stupid.
We know it’s not raining.
You’re pissing on our leg.
Come on, man, we are watching you do it!

Almost half the country will believe them regardless

    Don’t believe me?

Who is governor of California our largest state?

Are the Californians who sent the current governor back likely to turn on Democrats or Biden ever and what does the answer to that question imply?

“…what does the answer to that question imply?”

It implies we are in deep doo doo.

      You’re absolutely right.
But, to channel Jesus, the stupid — like the poor — we will always have with us.
Unless, of course, eugenics becomes trendy again. But it can cut both ways.

It isn’t that they believe the lies. It’s that they’ve allowed themselves to be convinced that the people pointing out the lies are worse people than the ones that are lying to them.

Once they achieved that, the Left got a Get Out Of Liars’ Jail Free card.

You’d be amazed at how many people actually do believe the xiden regime

Safe Bet: Axelrod is talking the way he is because he sees a Red tsunami approaching shore and hears its its rapidly increasing roar.

Better yet, Axelrod knows that nobody in the current Administration will be on the Presidential ticket come 2024. He is angling to advise the real nominee.

Credit without culpability, coups without borders, [catastrophic] [anthropogemic] immigration reform, transgender spectrum disorder (e.g. homosexual, neogender), Diversity, Inequity, and Exclusion, Mengele mandates, laundered, intermittent, toxic Green energy, etc.

One fact remains, being President is like being the QB, you get too much credit for wins and take too much of the blame in defeat. The admin has been desperately spinning since the Afghan withdrawal and it has become obvious to the wider public that the Admin policies are counterproductive and the implementation inept.

Biden can’t catch a break because he and his admin are incapable of making their own luck. They veer from one failure to another. The only positive for them is that Ukraine is taking most of the oxygen out of the news cycle. Once an armistice is reached the focus will swing back to domestic policy and the many disasters that are just getting started.

“They haven’t dialed this in quite right yet”

Axelrod’s only concern is how to properly package and market mis/disinformation regarding the democrats own-goal on runaway inflation.

He’s a devious man casting about for a better way to fool the unwary.

I look at the dems and say “remember when Trump was president, gas was $3, and there was food on the shelves?” I then walk away so they can argue with themselves,

Locally gas went from $3 to 4 in the course of a year, and now up another 90 cents in the last 3-4 weeks whenever the Ukraine stuff started. I don’t understand the 7% inflation number because pretty much everything I buy has gone up at least 20%, lots of it 30-40%. I need to buy more stuff which has gone down in value to balance it out, but I hear the only thing which fits that description is media credibility.

To BrandonCorp, disbelief is a feature, not a bug.

The truth is a nucleus; everything outside that nucleus is some degree of falsehood. If literally everything they say is obviously a lie, finding the truth is next to impossible.

The root cause of infection is government deficit spending. The progressive fascists policies rely on deficit spending, but every dollar of deficit spending hurts the American people more than it helps. Biden can’t attack the root cause of inflation because his policies depend on it.
