China’s Communist Party Mocks U.S. Democracy Ahead of Biden Summit

China’s Communist Party Mocks U.S. Democracy Ahead of Biden Summit

Senior CCP official: U.S. political system not a “real democracy”…”Chinese people don’t like and don’t want such democracy.”

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has mocked the U.S. democracy ahead of next week’s “Summit For Democracy” hosted by President Joe Biden.

The senior CCP officials called the upcoming White House summit a “joke” and claimed that U.S. electoral system does not represent “real democracy.”

“This is not real democracy. Chinese people don’t like and don’t want such democracy,” said, Tian Peiyan, deputy head of the CCP Central Committee’s Policy Research Office.

Taking aim at the Biden democracy summit, the Chinese Communist Party released a white paper, condemning th eWestern-style democracy. “One person, one vote is a democratic principle, but it is by no means the only principle, nor does it of itself create democracy,” the CCP document said

The sharp rhetoric from Beijing comes ahead of the “Summit For Democracy,” a two-day virtual event hosted by the Biden White House that starts Thursday. China and Russia were excluded from the summit expected to be attended by 110 governments.

The Associated Press reported the CCP’s remarks on the Biden democracy summit:

China’s Communist Party took American democracy to task on Saturday, sharply criticizing a global democracy summit being hosted by President Joe Biden next week and extolling the virtues of its governing system.

Party officials questioned how a polarized country that botched its response to COVID-19 could lecture others, and said that efforts to force others to copy the Western democratic model are “doomed to fail.”

The harsh rhetoric reflects a growing clash of values that has been thrust into the spotlight as China rises as a global power. The question is whether the United States and other leading democracies can peacefully co-exist with a powerful authoritarian state whose actions are at odds with the Western model that emerged victorious at the end of the Cold War.

The pandemic exposed defects in the American system, said Tian Peiyan, the deputy director of the Communist Party’s Policy Research Office. He blamed the high COVID-19 death toll in the U.S. on political disputes and a divided government from the highest to the lowest levels.

“Such democracy brings not happiness but disaster to voters,” he said at a news conference to release a government report on what the Communist Party calls its form of democracy, which is firmly under party control.

The CCP is holding its own democracy summit to rival the Biden White House event, the Chinese media reported. “China plans to host its own ‘democracy forum’ this weekend as part of a broader effort to promote its system of governance as more representative and effective than the US model,” the South China Morning Post reported Saturday. “The Chinese event, called the ‘International Democracy Forum,’ will be held on Saturday, the State Council said as it unveiled a white paper called ‘China: Democracy that Works’,” the newspaper added.

This is not the first time the top CCP brass has spoken disparaging about the U.S. democracy since President Biden took office. As the U.S.-China summit in April 2021, the CCP foreign policy chief, Yang Jiechi, told U.S. diplomats that the Biden White House does not “speak to China from a position of strength.” The CCP foreign policy czar accused the U.S. of bullying, military aggression, and “deep seated” racism.

The CCP’s bashing on U.S. democracy coincides with China’s campaign to crush the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong and the growing Chinese military buildup amid threats of annexing Taiwan, an independent island nation in the South China Sea.

What summit? A pretend summit will be just as phony as Joe’s news conferences have been. Rehearsing reading from a few cue cards is no more a summit than the man in the moon,

To make matters worse, the man in charge of China will not be talking to the man in charge of this country. The Chinese know who is in charge of their country but we don’t really know who is charge of ours

With ‘Sell Out Joe’ in the White House, why shouldn’t they mock our democracy?

China is talking pretend smack, because they want to look hostile to their puppets, but the contempt is real enough.

They aren’t wrong.

It’s a Republic. It is not a direct democracy.

The founders made it a republic to balance the multiple interests of the states but they made the individual “sovereign” – which was an astonishing concept in it’s day because only royalty was considered “sovereign” up to that point.

In China, the supremacy of the individual is a foreign concept. Dictators never want the people thinking they could make decisions.

TYRANNY is when the people fear the government (China),
LIBERTY is when the government fears the people (USA sometimes).

Liberty, by your definition, is pretty much gone in the US.
Rittenhouse. If it hadn’t been for some video not destroyed quickly enough, he would be in prison for life.

I understand your sentiment, and I held the same until not too many years ago, but you’re parroting an idea from a century long gone. The republic as cautioned by Ben Franklin was severely wounded after the American civil war thrust a dagger into united sovereign states, forcing their subservience to might makes right. The ‘progressive movement’ of the early 20th century with its 16th, 17th, and 19th amendment – coupled with ‘anti-trust, re-distribute wealth’ populism – all but killed the notion of a republic as envisioned with states forced even further subservient to the Feds.

Two wolves and a sheep deciding what’s for dinner is practically all that’s left from 2020. Only a farmer with his shotgun can solve the wolf problem…

China never had a democracy in its entire multi thousand year existence.

They’ve gone downhill in any case. It’s interesting to note that china was invented in China. But now if you want to buy good china you make sure it’s not made in China.

In communist China the party decides what soap opera you watch. In the US it’s an individual choice.

I thought you were channelling Yakov Smirnoff for a minute…
“In America, the soap opera (in Garland’s office) watches you!”

I’m surprised the Chinese didn’t say the US is a constitutional republic, not a democracy.

U.S. political system not a “real democracy”

Real democracy dies with stolen elections, so …yes.

Biden is the best president money can buy. If anyone knows that it is the Chinese.

Someone asked Chairman Xi why he had a bulge in his Communist uniform. He said, “I have Joe Biden in my pocket.”

GIven how we’ve allowed lunatics, criminals, traitors and grotesque incompetents to govern us (and support their propaganda media), the Chinese and Russians are taking heed, stamping out the roots of their own destruction before they take hold.

Senator McCarthy was 100 percent right!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Fine. Yes. McCarthy has been proven right in many ways.

People are easily misled by Socialism’s idealism. Capitalism works because it is not based on idealism but rather a realistic view of the world – harnessing self-interest for the greater good.

Xi Jinping and his regime know they’re the last, best hope for 20th century totalitarianism. They are also very fortunate in that Mao Zedong made sure that nobody survived who might remember that an end to Guomindang dictatorship and the rise of a more open democracy was one of the Communists’ promises on which they rode to power in the 1930’s and 1940’s.

Never forget that Mao’s most loyal disciple, Pol Pot, called his movement Democratic Kampuchea.

The CCP is a Communist totalitarian movement which is the sleekest form of totalitarianism on this planet It will fail because you cannot have free markers without free minds which is woefully absent in China and poses the greatest threat to our constitutional republic which was never intended to be a pure democracy in the same manner as France in 1789

That really hurts, coming from them.

Trump if re-elected would have ratcheted up sanctions on China and if China continued to stonewall on the origins. If the pandemic wound have sent a drone over the lab and sent any purported bill for collateral damage to China’s globalist partners

I really don’t see how President Shartman could disagree with the Chinese. After all, he is Exhibit A.
