When you lost the fight you throw in the race or any other -ism card despite the overwhelming evidence against you.
Fox News analyst Juan Williams claimed the parents who scream “parents’ right” are using it as a rallying cry for white supremacists.
Williams’ op-ed in The Hill lacks substance and waters down Critical Race Theory to make it sound like the parents are insane:
Now Virginia Republicans are back with a new and improved “Culture Wars” campaign for 2021. The closing argument is once again full of racial division — but this time it is dressed up as a defense of little children.The rallying cry is “Parents’ Rights.”It is a campaign to stop classroom discussion of Black Lives Matter protests or slavery because it could upset some children, especially white children who might feel guilt.
I don’t know about you, but why do we need to change American history lessons? Without critical race theory, I learned all about slavery and the stains of our past. I learned racism is wrong. Slavery is wrong. Jim Crow is wrong.
The only thing missing is the white guilt. Teachers, lessons, administrators, and students never made the white kids feel guilty for the sins and crimes of those in the past.
Williams also implied a mother was racist because she wanted to ban Toni Morrison’s book Beloved since the author is black. The mother then wanted the schools to give parents an opt-out option for their child.
I hate the idea of banning books. It’s gross. The opt-out option is great.
But the mother had a problem with the sexual content in the book. It had nothing to do with Morrison’s skin color. (By the way Beloved is a fantastic book)
How can Williams explain this mother from education ground zero Loudoun County in Virginia? She pulled her children out of public school because someone shamed her over her white skin:
“My children are now in private school and are thriving,” the woman told the board, claiming the “swift and uncompromising” political agenda of the district’s former and current administration forced her hand.“First, it was in early spring of 2020 when my 6-year-old somberly came to me and asked me if she was born evil because she was a white person — something she learned in a history lesson at school,” the concerned mom said.“Then you kept the schools closed for a year and a half, despite the science indicating it was safe for kids to return,” she continued. “Now you’ve covered up a rape and arrested, humiliated and falsely accused parents of being domestic terrorists.”
This mother is white. But Williams disregards the people of color who have spoken out against Critical Race Theory:
