McAuliffe Supporters Stage Tiki Torch False Flag Stunt in Front of Youngkin Bus

A very strange story is being played out on Twitter this afternoon.

Glenn Youngkin, the Republican nominee for governor in Virginia, is in the midst of his final bus tour of the commonwealth ahead of the election on Tuesday. He stopped earlier today at Guadalajara Mexican Grille in Charlottesville and, as his campaign typically does, allowed the crowd to take pictures in front of his bus. That’s when this happened:

Straight out of central casting! As you may remember, Charlottesville was the site of the infamous “Unite the Right” rally a few years back. The clowns that gathered in front of Youngkin’s bus today were dressed similarly to some protesters at that rally — and they were even carrying torches!

Terry McAuliffe staffers were only too happy to retweet reporter Elizabeth Holmes’ report. This must prove that Glenn Youngkin is a white supremacist, right? Hello, October surprise! Wrapped in a shiny bow and served on a silver platter.

Not so fast. Twitter supersleuths were suspicious right away; it all seemed a little too perfect. They alleged that it may well be that Democrat operatives played dress-up in order to smear Youngkin and help their floundering candidate.

Was this a stunt cooked up by the party — or at least a few rogue operators?

The Lincoln Project claimed responsibility for it.

However, some people think LP is taking the fall because others have possibly been identified and appear to be current or former Democrat/McAuliffe operatives. Democrats denied involvement, but some of the alleged participants have started the digital walk of shame — protecting accounts and scrubbing personal information.

This isn’t typically what innocent people do. They’ll usually pin a tweet saying, “Wasn’t me”, and move on with their lives. Something is definitely off here.

If this little stunt does prove to be an effort by Democrats to discredit Youngkin, it’s abominably stupid at best and downright despicable at worst. And it means that Glenn Youngkin is doing so well with Virginia’s voters right now that the only way to stop him is to cook up a controversy.

And, let’s face it, Terry McAuliffe has earned his spot atop the dumpster fire. He’s running a campaign against Donald Trump and concerned parents — and no silly campaign stunts will erase that.
