NFL Great Herschel Walker Running for U.S. Senate in Georgia as a Republican

“launched a campaign Tuesday for the U.S. Senate with former President Donald Trump’s support”

Herschel Walker, the Heisman Trophy winning, former NFL player and Trump-supporting conservative, is running for U.S. Senate in Georgia as a Republican.

Walker will face off against far-left Democrat Raphael Warnock.

Greg Bluestein reports at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Breaking: Herschel Walker is running for U.S. Senate in Georgia

Former University of Georgia football star Herschel Walker launched a campaign Tuesday for the U.S. Senate with former President Donald Trump’s support, bringing both his celebrity and his untested political background to the premier 2022 contest.

Walker becomes the most prominent Republican to line up against Democratic U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock in next year’s race, ending intense speculation that he’ll move from his home in Texas to Georgia to run for the office.

Walker didn’t immediately comment, though a formal announcement is expected within days. He filed paperwork Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission establishing his candidacy, a move that came shortly after he registered to vote in Georgia.

He entered the race after months of pleas from Trump, who predicted the former running back would be as “unstoppable” as a candidate as he was on the field. “Run Herschel, run!” he said in March.

Walker’s lofty name recognition, combined with Trump’s seal of approval, makes the first-time candidate the instant Republican front-runner — and sets up a potential general election between two Black candidates in one of the nation’s top political battlegrounds.

You may recall Walker’s speech at the 2020 Republican National Convention:

The left is already sharpening their claws for Walker, as evidenced by this piece from Politico:

Walker was accused by his ex-wife of being “physically abusive” and displaying “extremely threatening behavior.” According to the Associated Press, Walker has also exaggerated the success of his chicken distribution business, Renaissance Man Food Services, and clashed with business partners. Walker openly discussed his mental health challenges by penning a 2008 book, “Breaking Free,” in which he disclosed he had multiple personalities that he was able to overcome due to therapy and his Christian faith.

“He’s a dynamic guy, really charismatic,” said one Georgia Republican who met with Walker and discussed his potential campaign before deciding it wasn’t the right fit. “There are lots of questions about his past. He doesn’t want to really talk about it, and I’m not sure he knows that he’s going to have to talk about it anyway.”

Meanwhile, state elections officials earlier this month began investigating Walker’s current wife, Julie Blanchard, for voting in Georgia’s 2020 elections even though her residency appeared to be in Texas, where the two have lived for years, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

This is to be expected. Democrats and their media allies are going to pull out every stop to make sure the GOP doesn’t retake control of the Senate. And as we all know, there is no one the left hates more than a black Republican.

I see a few Georgia Trump rallies in his future.

As a dallas resident, H Walker is well respected and I would think that he is well respected in GA especially from his days at U of georgia.

That being said, rumors are that he has some domestic abuse history, Does anyone have credible info on that issue.

They won’t need it. The press just has to say something. See: Elder brandishing a gun, Col West’s 0.0 BAC “drunk driving”.

In the eyes of the Democrats, Walker is just another uppity n1663r who doesn’t know his place.

“…rumors are that he has some domestic abuse history…”

Ah, but do they have video and a police report of that domestic abuse, like they have for Raphael Warnock?

Herschel has had some mental problems. He at one time he claims to have been suffering from multiple personality disorder (Disassociate Personality Disorder.) He wrote a book about it called “Breaking Free. In this book he wrote about unpleasant aspects of his life and things he did before finding treatment. They will use his own words against him, ignoring any compassion for someone struggling with mental illness.

Warnock has his own issues with domestic abuse including police involvement.

I somehow doubt the media will be using that because it isn’t effective in todays society, and as propagandists who effectively advocate for their side I give the media an A.

He has admitted to having mental problems in the past. He does not even live in Georgia. So he probably is not the best candidate they could find.

Few appreciate a carpetbagger. Utah and Romney being one exception.

Herschel is a legend in Georgia. People love him. Born there, grew up there. Played college ball there. Pro-sports took him to Texas. People understand that. He will not be considered a carpet bagger by any stretch. But yes, he broke free of the Democrat plantation, and so they will try and destroy him.

That he’s “well respected” isn’t much of a qualification unless he can back it up with pertinent experience that indicates he’d be a good choice for governor. As far as I know he has none. But +1 since he’s not a lawyer.

Get ready for a steady drumbeat of “Herschel Walker is the black face of white supremacy” stories from the Joseph Goebbels media.

Truly sickening how the Uncle Tom narrative is already coming out. Really hoping he takes the press to task and is successful in defeating Warnock.

“Truly sickening how the Uncle Tom narrative is already coming out.”

I would love to see him grab the Uncle Tom slur and wrap it around his shoulders. Uncle Tom was an analogue for Jesus. Every time, he is called an Uncle Tom, he should say, “Thank you for the compliment. You should read the book, Uncle Tom was modelled after Jesus Christ.”

“Thank you for the compliment. You should read the book, Uncle Tom was modelled after Jesus Christ.”

There goes the Jewish vote! /ducking

“ There goes the Jewish vote! ”.

Why? Is that so offensive that they go to vote for REVEREND Warnock, Senior Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church?

Milhouse in reply to Ironman. | August 25, 2021 at 11:48 pm

Yes, actually, they do. Because that’s the church of the sainted Doctor Martin Luther King Junior, so it doesn’t count as Christian for this purpose. Basically, it means Warnock is not a “real” Christian, and therefore not scary, while Walker actually believes in Christianity and is therefore scary.

It isn’t. I am playing to the stereotype. I guess I needed a sarc tag. Sorry…

You’ve gotta respect Democrats for having their finger on the pulse of America. The biggest terrorist threat to America is white supremacists; and the biggest problem with black-on-black violence is in Republican celebrity bedrooms. All this data doubtless compiled by some dude who thinks he is woman with royal pronouns.

I just watched “Clarence Thomas in His Own Words”. It’s available via streaming from Kanopy, which is free if you have a library card.

I was surprised (but shouldn’t have been) to find Biden co-staring as the head inquisitor for Thomas’ confirmation hearings. Many of the democrat members of that “high tech lynching” are still in positions of power.

I have been reading the imprecatory Psalms lately.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to gibbie. | August 25, 2021 at 1:35 pm

I haven’t had a library card since they started requiring one’s government dossier number to get one.

Not here in in NYC. All you need here is a utility bill, a bank statement, or pretty much anything else that shows an address in the city.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to Milhouse. | August 26, 2021 at 9:46 am

Then, I stand corrected. I thought the PATRIOT Act or one of the other freedom-grabs after 9/11 required collection of dossier numbers (“your social”) to get a card,

Yeah, run Herschel run. I hope. You win big. McConnell is a loser

Mr Walker has a chance. He must survive a near endless barrage of lies and false charges. Not the least of which is carpetbagging.

The dinosaur media, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat party, will try to win in a court of public opinion. A current standard of evidence being preponderance of innuendo.

Another black white supremacist, I suppose.

And a traitor to his race.

Black nazi, or something.

Etc.

The radical left’s slanders are as predictable, and as irrational, as the sunrise.

If he’s the nominee, I’ll happily vote for him. In the primary, I will as always consider all the candidates — including him.

Good for him running as an outsider.

I’m not sure he has what it takes to make any real impact although one less Democrat in the Senate would help.

However, most of these Senators run as Republican but slowly lose touch and get corrupted.

I have little faith in most R-Senators not to be bamboozled by Deep State, corruption, etc

Maybe Herschel will be different. I like people with a long track record of fighting.

DeSantis is good so far. I like him.

Anyone notice what happened the last couple of times that Trump campaign led in Georgia?

Correction:

Anyone notice what happened the last couple of times Trump campaigned in Georgia?

He is our best chance in Georgia and I wish him the best.

Hope he makes a good candidate/senator maybe he could make the suburbs less blue, but lets not delude ourselves while he has a chance his election is more than likely a last hurrah for us in Georgia.

This is great! I recently listened to his very long and detailed interview on Howard Stern from several years ago. Mr. Walker has a ton of class, life experiences and emotional intelligence. Short soundbites may not be his strength but the more I learn about him, the more I respect this man.
