Loudoun County Teacher Resigns: ‘I Quit Being a Cog in a Machine’ That Pushes ‘Highly Politicized Agendas’
“Clearly, you’ve made your point. You no longer value me or many other teachers you’ve employed in this county.”
In Virginia, Loudoun County Public School teacher Laura Morris resigned her post at a school board meeting about a transgender policy and Critical Race Theory.
The district wants teachers and staff to acknowledge students by their preferred pronoun and allow transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice.
Morris said in one of her “so-called equity” training the person in charge told the group “that White, Christian, able-bodied females currently have the power in our schools and ‘this has to change.'”
Morris explained these ideologies they push on the children “do not square with who I am as a believer in Christ.”
From Fox News:
“Clearly, you’ve made your point. You no longer value me or many other teachers you’ve employed in this county. So since my contract outlines the power that you have over my employment in Loudoun County Public Schools, I thought it necessary to resign in front of you.”
“School board, I quit,” she said. Choking up, she added: “I quit your policies, I quit your training, and I quit being a cog in a machine that tells me to push highly politicized agendas to our most vulnerable constituents – children.”
Morris, a fifth-grade teacher, also alleged that the county told her not to express dissenting views.
Lots of impassioned arguments tonight from both sides.
One of the most striking moments was this…
This @LCPSOfficial teacher quit right in front of the board, b/c she said they're forcing her to "push highly politicized agendas on…children." @wusa9 pic.twitter.com/K7KYKLCHA0

To me that’s the equivalent of Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to the church door at Witenburg.
The WOKE POPE/SAINTS will continue to sell Letters of Unindulgence by drawing on their infinite store in their Treasury of Demerit, driving everyone more quickly and more deeply into WOK PURGATORY
God bless that woman.
Getting her and others like her to quit is the agenda.
Only true believers will be allowed to remain in the new world order.
Don’t quit and don’t pull your kids out… Stay and be a pain in the ass.
Although we are on the verge of moving to another state because ours is lost- we will stay the course in public schools until we do. Picture the final fight in Dr Strange…. I can’t beat you, but I can stop you from winning.
So let me get this straight Andy, you are quitting (moving) soon but she shouldn’t?
Everyone should pull their kids out and send them to private school then fight to gut the public school unions and budgets. No prisoners. Nice teachers like this can go to the private schools.
She should sue the school right now.
Ahem, try finding a winning strategy. That strategy is exactly how “conservatives” effectively surrendered to the GOPe while fighting each other over our “only option” of choosing “the lesser of two evils”, the lame strategy of staying in the game believing we are wearing them down in baby steps. It doesn’t work. Period. Cancel them before they cancel you. This won’t end in a tie.
So DO pull your kids out of those schools and DO quit these organizations. Surrendering to these Marxists is NOT acceptable. Lead, follow or get out of the way. Right now, you are choosing to be in the way.
After pulling the kids, then join with others and disband the school district.
And reduce property taxes by the amount that goes to public schools. Probably have to lawyer up for that one.
I think the lawyer would tell you to forget that idea as being impossible. But I’m not a lawyer. Lawyers here are invited to correct me.
First, find out how to do that. Plan.
In NY, I looked into how to divide our district into two, because we have an internal war going on. It’s impossible unless both parts agree.
Since public education is expected, it’s probably difficult or impossible to simply disband the school district. After all, then where would any illegals that happen to live in your district, who are entitled to K-12 under Plyler v. Doe, go to to receive the education you must provide them?
You simply drain the schools of children. Schools get less money. Teachers get laid off first. Then schools start closing. And finally, the administrators are laid off.
This is SO doable. I believe a 25% reduction in student population would get the ball rolling fast and the politics would reverse to favor the parents who should then tell the unions to go away.
Andy,
Every Citizen in the district, not simply or exclusively Parents, have an equal input to our public schools. So pulling a child out isn’t relevant.
IMO, the ‘going Gault’ strategy a la Atlas Shrugged with respect to public schools may be the best option. If 25% of students were pulled that district loses the accompanying State and Federal dollars those Students represent.
Additionally these Parents can, by making the splashy headline Parents of 25% of Students walk out on district schools, create a local, State and National media narrative that can’t truly be ignored. Sure CNN will downplay but local network affiliates and local newspaper and local talk radio? Nope.
Finally these Parents will have created leverage over the districts financially. They can set up home school and pod utilizing the Parents or a few educators like this one. They can bargain with local private or religious schools to expand to accommodate their kids.
The go Gault strategy just might be the most effective option. Until the district school boards face immediate financial risks they will continue to have the upper hand. The boards likely have a staggered election cycle so even bouncing two members in the next election doesn’t necessarily secure a reform majority. Threaten the district’s finances though? That will get their attention.
I should have read one more comment down. It would have saved me a lot of time and you said it better.
Thanks.

“Dormammu! I’ve come to bargain!” (Repeat 89264578219272993 times)
You are either a leftist or a millennial with no children of your own, as parents who love their children don’t leave them in failing public schools that are little more than disgusting indoctrination centers merely to spite the school and its policies.
“Stay and be a pain the ass” is, well, asinine.
“Equity” requires racism, equality ignores it.
“Equity” only increases the odds of conflict, just like “affirmative action” gone wild.
Great Charter school material!
This brave woman is exactly who embodies the concept behind this 1755 statement on individual freedoms by one of our founders and embraced in the the premise of our Constitution: Ben Franklin, “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Seems like a good approach to me. Same way people moved out of the cities and left the violence and crime behind. Move on to better schools. Leave the crappy leftists behind.
Yes it’s what they want
We need to form pod schools and put our money through vouchers to them
There are no “better” schools. this trash is being introduced all over….cities & suburbs.
Try a rural area; IOW a red county in a red state. Move to a location where your values are held and where this nonsense hasn’t yet become insurmountable.
Not every school district has adopted this nonsense or if they are in the initial stages the tide can still be turned.
If you are fighting against the majority progressive in a blue county in a blue state you are much less likely to be successful.
Home school or private. Public schools are lost in all but the deepest red states. The Marxist have won the battle for public schooling — do not let them win the war for the heart and soul of your children.
public schools are lost in the reddest of red state of Utah.
Utah has been infected with the virus of “woke” by people coming in from Cali. Many western states are victims.
Can we build a wall to keep Cali liberals inside the Progressive hellhole they created – so they don’t infect us with their looney ideas?
Utah is the reddest State? No. That’s political mythology. It certainly seems like it should be true but it isn’t, not even close.
In 2020 Utah split 58% DJT / 38% Biden.
Alabama split 62% DJT / 37% Biden and Bama isn’t the highest percentage. Seven other States had even higher percentage of DJT votes.
Pierre Delecto disproves this ‘reddest of red states’ nonsense. They are wafflers, electing clowns and RINOS who parade around as if they were the “reddest of states.” Check your premises.
Pulling kids out means you pay for 2 schools. It may be necessary, but it’s not a good solution. Somehow get control of the school board!
In a blue state like NJ, the discussion here is not that relevant. Property taxes are so high that not a material percentage of families can pay twice – try a number like $15K for property taxes in a good town and the same amount for 2 children in a Catholic school.
Taxes are too damn high should be the discussion. NJ probably spends double per student than my state. Are your kids all top tier students in colleges where they compete with kids from other states? If not you are over paying – just my opinion.
There are many lower cost States with schools that won’t poison children with CRT/Equity and provide a quality education. A tactical withdrawal to an area not overrun by your political opponents would seem to be in order.
NYC is taking active measures to prevent people from its commuting area from leaving and going to less expensive areas. NYC is encouraging its employers and colleges to mandate in-person attendance. Because everyone loves commuting into the now-woke city.
Ok. That doesn’t keep people tied to NYC. They choose to stay. They prioritize their job over other issues.
For the record, commuting distance from NYC isn’t what I had in mind. More like rural Alabama, Idaho, Mississippi ECT. Red States, not blue not even purple.
That’s what I meant too. They prevent people from leaving the NYC commuting area or force them to come back into the area, when they thought they could do their NYC job from a nice quiet place in Alabama.

I can only wish her the best in life for doing what she did.
That took courage most don’t have.
Oh my gosh. After listening to this courageous young teacher’s clarion call against damaging CRT that school board should be ashamed! They won’t be, but they should.
She is taking a financial hit for this, a fund raiser should be setup for her.
“Going so far as to send a form to my colleagues and I …”
I hope she’s not teaching English grammar.
That’s regrettably common these days, has been common for decades. The idea that school is for teaching correctness and pedantry is reserved for the upper classes. Everyone else assumes it’s old hat.
The parents should organize to monitor the schools and oppose CRT and other examples of progressive fascist racism. If the school district ignores the parents they should replace the school board.
