DeSantis added he will stand in Biden’s way if he tries to deny kids in-person teaching, impose mandates and lockdowns, restrict people, and ruin jobs.
President Joe Biden tried to appear all tough against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis because the governor respects personal choice and responsibility.
Biden actually told DeSantis to get out of the way. Um, who is the governor of Florida? Not Biden.
DeSantis responded to Biden today.

DeSantis did not ban masks. DeSantis did not ban vaccines.
Instead, DeSantis is giving people the option to wear masks, get the vaccines, and letting people choose to expose their private medical information.
Do you want to wear a mask? Then wear a mask.
Do you want to get the vaccine? Then get the vaccine.
Do you want to showcase your vaccine card? Then show off your vaccine card.
Oh, I just published a short post on the border. McAllen, TX, said the federal government has released over 7,000 COVID-positive migrants into the city.
The city has seen over 1,500 just this week.
Leave Florida alone, Biden.

The administration is going to continue to have a problem with messaging about the legitimacy of mask/vax mandates or passports or lockdown until they demonstrate their commitment to the logic of their Covid policy across the board.
Frankly this a an internal tension between two d/progressive constituencies; open borders and teacher unions. There isn’t a way to reconcile that.
Until they bite the bullet on the border they undercut the entire vax/mask/lockdown/passport regime. Especially any attempt to delay or prevent in person school in the fall.

There’s nothing they can do. Except maybe offer them money to go somewhere else and stay there.
That was Bill Buckley’s proposal, when he ran for mayor, for NYC’s welfare-dependent population. He said the city should tell welfare recipients they could go anywhere they liked, and the city would keep sending them their checks until they no longer needed them, but if they stayed in the city the checks would stop. Make them some other city’s problem, and maybe if they went somewhere with more jobs available they’d actually get one.

DeSantis “respects personal choice” when it comes to government, but doesn’t appear to care at all about employers not respecting personal choice. I don’t recall him saying employers shouldn’t mandate vaccines, and he’s introduced no legislation to forbid in in FL. He also hasn’t made any public statements against mask and vaccine requirements by air and cruise lines.
Because the employers have rights, too.
