Tweets of U.S. Olympian Gwen Berry Who Turned Her Back On Anthem Surface – Derogatory Towards Chinese, Mexicans, Whites

Berry: ‘This lil white boy being bad as hell!! I would smack his *** then stomp him!! Smh #whitepplKids hella disrespectful’

Last weekend, third-place hammer thrower Gwen Berry caused a stir when she had a temper tantrum over the sight of the American flag and the sound of the American national anthem as she stood on the podium at the U.S. Olympic team trials.

Gwen Berry, a hammer thrower who qualified for the U.S. Olympic team during the trials, apparently is trying out for the wrong country’s Olympic team. During the trials, she turned away from the American flag and said she was “pissed” that the “Star Spangled Banner” was played while she stood on the podium for a bronze trial medal.

Berry says it felt like a “set up” to be forced to endure the horrific torture of seeing the flag and of hearing the national anthem . . . . of the country whose Olympic team she wants to join. Surreal.

Not content to act like a privileged, spoiled brat, Berry then went on to defend her childish antics by torturing history.

When asked whether she intended to behave equally poorly at the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, should she even place against the world’s best hammer throwers, Berry responded: ““We’ll see. It just depends on how I’m feeling and what I want to do in that moment.”

Now old tweets are surfacing that show Berry to be a rampant racist with particular disdain for Mexicans, the Chinese, and, of course, white people. She also committed the leftist offense of using “the word ‘retarded’ in a derogatory way” and of making “a crude remark about rape,” another no-no for the woke brigade.

The Daily Mail reports:

The majority of the tweets came when Berry was in her early 20s – well before she was on the Olympic teams for Rio in 2016 and Team USA for the 2014 Pan American Sports Festival, however she was still competing for the U.S. at a national level.

Some of the tweets appeared to mock people based on their race, with Berry writing in November 2012: ‘Mexicans just don’t care about ppl’.

In April 2011 she wrote: ‘Just saw this gurl wearing heels with white socks!! What the Hell..#chineseppl always try to start new trends..smh..ggguuurrrllll.’

‘This lil white boy being bad as hell!! I would smack his *** then stomp him!! Smh #whitepplKids hella disrespectful,’ she tweeted in Jun 2011.

‘White people are sooo retarded when they are drunk,’ Berry wrote in a tweet later that same year.

‘This lil white boy being bad as hell!! I would smack his ass then stomp him!! Smh #whitepplKids hella disrespectful,’ Berry wrote in a June 2011 tweet.

‘#BasketballWives is proof that white ppl run they got damn mouths too much n they nosey as hell n they start drama btw crazy blk b&^%^%’ she tweeted in July 2011.

‘Julie from #BGC gotta nice ass body for a white girl,’ Berry observed in October 2012.

In another tweet she seemed to mock victims of rape, writing in March 2012: ’S/O to all the females that’s gon get drunk, get recked by 4 dudes, then cry **** this weekend’.

‘I’m about to rape my lunch,’ she wrote in a non-sensical tweet from October that year.

As long-time LI readers know, I’m no fan of digging up old tweets to harangue people, but frankly, these aren’t our rules. According to the left, sharing this story is simply holding Berry accountable.

I still do not believe that she should be representing the United States at the Olympics or anywhere else. Berry complains about “#whitepplKids” being “hella disrespectful,” but apparently disrespecting America and the Olympic Games more broadly is “good” disrespect? She can throw her hammers for BLM all she likes, but for our great nation? No, thanks.

Leftists always put their crimes onto their opponents, racism is just another one’s those.

Who paid for all her training? Who paid for her travel to the competition? Obviously, we did.

Hopefully someone had the courage to tell her to pay for her own travel back home. That would be special!

Thunder thighs deserves to have her citizenship revoked for her disgraceful behavior performance. Before she can loudly and rudely complain any more about our ~horrible country~ I say we send her permanently to China, Iran, Somalia, or North Korea, where those governments have a good bead on how to handle someone of her ilk.

Milhouse in reply to Jmaquis. | July 4, 2021 at 9:43 am

Deserves? Maybe. But US citizenship, once legitimately obtained, can’t ever be revoked involuntarily, for any reason.

Of course if the government proves that someone was never a citizen in the first place, e.g. they got citizenship by falsely claiming to have been born here and the government can prove they were born somewhere else, then it can stop recognizing the pretend citizenship they never had. That’s not revocation, that’s proving it never existed. But once someone is genuinely a citizen, whether by birth or by properly obtained naturalization, that’s it. It’s a right that can never be taken away without the person’s consent, no matter what crimes the person commits, including treason. The SCOTUS has ruled this way multiple times. E.g,, just for one example out of many, Afroyim v Rusk.

But nobody who doesn’t believe in the USA should be allowed to represent it at any international event.

She is amusing me now with her child like behavior. But she is a nobody and will be forgotten.

In fairness there are a number of children raised by self entitled, morally superior d/progressive who might have benefited from more traditional methods of discipline as a child.

It seems reasonable to speculate that antifa and other progressive movements have absorbed these undisciplined and narcissistic individuals into their ranks.

No, no, keep going. Good Alinsky exercise.

Now, somebody do Kendi.
PLEASE.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. You want to cancel people for their ancient hate-filled tweets? Cool, let’s GO. Alinsky Rule #4.

rhhardin in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | July 4, 2021 at 6:43 am

It just affirms the principle the left wants to affirm – the power to cancel regardless of circumstances. Which is a rule for moral retards, the left’s environment.

For the right the rule is you can always talk. Indeed offensive talk is not disqualifying because it’s talk.

Milhouse in reply to rhhardin. | July 4, 2021 at 9:45 am

Yes, but they should be held to their rules. They should be estopped from using our rules to challenge their punishment, until they renounce those rules for everyone.

Decade after decade, IQ test after IQ test, it’s always the same order, blacks, Latinos, Whites and Asians. – John McWhorter

It’s always a war on IQ.

An embittered, attention-seeking, self-serving, self-entitled, dim-witted, racist, infantile, narcissistic, ingrate Leftist. Is there any other kind?

    Stalin?

Mao, Hitler,, Mussolini, … That black Islamic imperial slaver, destroyer of whole economies through redistributive change, of yesteryear, the richest man in the world, ever. Now what would diversity [dogma] (i.e. color judgment) advise?

I believe in meritocracy. We select our team in an open and fair competition. We do not allow the coaching staff to pick their favorites. The USOC sponsors know what they are buying into, and some companies like Nike actually have a “woke” ad campaign going. Ms. Berry has made a calculation that these antics will increase her marketability and future sponsorship deals. Given the current environment, she may be right.

If other college athletes make the same assessment, what does that mean for NCAA athletic events? Will we have race-based demonstrations at track meets and football games? If an NCAA athlete can now get NIL (name-image-likeness) compensation, what will the athlete be willing to do to increase public awareness of his/her personal brand?

AF_Chief_Master_Sgt | July 4, 2021 at 7:51 am

As if Colonoscopy Crappydick wasn’t enough, now we have equal opportunity fake oppressed black females complaining about issues that reside only on her head.

Why blkppl gotta be h8tin everything and bean so mizzble?

So, if a white football player gotta flagellate themselves for a tweet from their teens, a white cheerleader gets kicked off the squad, and all other non-POC lose their livelihood, then vâgîna Crappydick should not be allowed to compete.

Besides, she was a third place loser in the trials. When she goes up against other nations, she won’t get a chance to stand on any podium.

If an “activist athlete” doesn’t get noticed, does she exist?

The Olympics have always been about more than just athletic capability. One must also have the character to represent one’s own country. If the USA is not Berry’s country, she should not be the USA representative as she is not qualified in the character dimension. She can represent NK or China or whatever country she thinks as deserving of her athletic talent.

If she hates the USA and lacks the character to move elsewhere, she can run as a Democrat and deliver her hate with like-minded individuals. But, she should not be on any USA Olympic team.

The photos of the young women tell a lot of the story. Gwen was competing in an unpopular sport for women, with very few competitors. That’s how she could get away with placing so well. Compare her legs and core to those of the winners of the gold and silver, and see who had superior strength.

Without a snowball’s chance in hell of beating serious competition, she pulled a political stunt.

As a former asshole athlete, I don’t want her tossed off the team. By that same rule I don’t want to see other athletes tossed off for other behaviors the mob finds disagreeable.

You know damn well how that door is going to swing once you get it going. I don’t want Karen selecting the Olympic teams by how like-able the athletes are.

Freedom means the freedom to be an asshole. News flash- these are hard core athletes get the best coaching in the world for their specific sport. They get zero coaching on how to be good people or they get their coaching from some of the worst people. We have different competitions for how to appear nice and congenial on a platform.

stevewhitemd in reply to Andy. | July 4, 2021 at 12:57 pm

Fair enough. We have plenty of superb athletes who are disagreeable, rude, nasty, jerks in any sport. They’ve always been there (e.g., Ty Cobb); in generations past sports journalists generally covered for them. With the media today that’s harder to do, but you make a fair point: athletes aren’t necessarily charm school grads.

But as Fuzzy points out, rules are rules. If I can get cancelled in my profession for a mean tweet (which is why I don’t tweet, ever), then Ms. Berry can suffer the same. She wants to play the super-woke POC, then I’ll apply those rules to her. Now she’s unhappy and doesn’t want to be “played with”? Karma, baby, karma.

    TX-rifraph in reply to Andy. | July 4, 2021 at 2:46 pm

An Olympic team is not just an athletic team. It represents the USA and she fails in that role. She needs to be off the team not for what she says but for her behavior. She failed as our representative not as an athlete. She can say what she wants when she represents Gwen.

Milhouse in reply to Andy. | July 4, 2021 at 11:42 pm

This isn’t about her being an asshole, it’s about her disdain for the patriotism that ought to be a hard prerequisite for representing the country.

I never understood arguments that we can’t push back against the left but unfortunately the problem with this is just that it is ineffective.

The left owns every institution and it doesn’t give a damn about what non-leftists think so they will be able to just ignore Berry’s racist history.
